Random place that was found while I was near the mall. Decent food, i got steak tacos, chips and guac and prickly pear margarita. Service was another story. - Prickly pear margarita 5/5 - Chips with guac 3/5 - guacamole was nothing special, super basic. Chips were deceiving cause the top layer were normal size but at the bottom it was all crumbs... - Steak tacos 4/5 - your basic steak tacos, hit the spot Restaurant was nicely decorated with plenty of seating without reservation. Service was bad, waitress acted as if we were an inconvenience to her.
The restaurant is pretty big and has a few rooms for seating so you don't feel like you can see everyone. The service was standard; our waitress was polite and attentive. We had mixed reviews on the food. We had the guacamole and tuna tostadas which were great, however, our quesadillas and tacos were just ok. I'd come back if I was in the area, but there's better Mexican options in nyc.
The one star is for the colorful, lively, albeit, noisy atmosphere BUT everything else is a firm no. My heart sank when this spot was chosen for a farewell gathering for two employees. Apparently, this spot is a favorite among the team. Indoors was super loud and crowded. There was no way you could carry on a conversation. We brought the party outdoors. Most of the group sweltered due to the ongoing heatwave. Pitchers of Margherita were brought to the table: Mango, Passionfruit and Guava. I was going to have the Mango but one sip was enough. Sweet and flavorless. Food was ordered for the table: wings, Guacamole, nachos and some others. I tried a piece of the mushroom quesadilla which was soggy. I passed on everything else just by the looks of it. I joined just to be social but El Vez and myself mix like oil and water. I'll pass.
We were in need to vegetarian options down in BPC for family and this restaurant was one of our options. Street parking only. Stroller parking right inside the doors. Large restaurant with a bar and dining room. There is booth and table seating. Good business on a Sunday night. We ordered a few appetizers, entrees and dessert. We were all happy with our selections! Considering the noise level, somehow we were able to have conversations (maybe because we were sitting in a booth?). Service was friendly, attentive and efficient. Cool decor! Recommend!
I was craving nachos and wanted to try something new. So I asked ChatGPT what was the best nachos in the city. They pointed me to El Vez. I ordered it for pickup using DoorDash and it was ready in about 15 minutes. El Vez is located all the way downtown near Battery Park. Looks like they took over the old Blue Smoke space (RIP), so the restaurant is pretty large. I was surprised when I went to pick it up and they handed me a square pizza box. This is actually something unique that makes it good. The biggest issue with nachos is that only the top chips have toppings and the bottom ones are naked. Not these nachos, they're laid it flat so every chip is covered. I ordered the Macho Nacho Chorizo and I would get it again. Is it the best I've ever had? Maybe not. But it's pretty good.
Food (5/5): Been here a couple of times and the large family nachos plate always slaps and is such a generous serving. We also get the fajita combo usually with steak and shrimp. Soo much meat and so delicious. Service (4/5): Food usually comes out quite fast with no issues. Servers weren't particularly chatty or friendly but they were helpful when they came along. Could've checked up on us a bit more. Ambiance (5/5): Beautiful ambiance and tons of space for this restaurant. Great decor and nice lighting to contrast the interior. Overall a really nice place in FiDi area of Manhattan.

This is a nice restaurant nestled close to the world trade center memorial site. Its very spacious and has some cool decorations on the wall. They have large plate kids meals. We got the cheese quesidillas and the kids nachos. They devoured it. The side of rice and beans were not too spicy for the kids. And they loved the fruit as well. I got the adult nachos. They are served on a plate with ample toppings. We also got the chicken enchiladas. Those were bathed in a mole type of sauce. It definitely needed hot sauce. It took a while to get a server to come back with the hot sauce but it was worth it. They had an orange one that was milder and a red one that was much more spicy. It was filling and good. Prices were fair for NYC.
Came here on a Friday night with some friends without a reservation and were seated immediately outside. We had a plate of the nachos and the combo, shrimp and chicken tacos to share. The nachos were definitely my favorite, not the best price ever for the size, but definitely worth it considering the area. The chicken and shrimp was good but the sides that came with the taco plate left a little bit to be desired. Service was fine, if I were to come back, I definitely would get the nachos!

I got the shrimp tacos, birria tacos, and French fries at dinner, and the food was sooooo yummy! my favorite was definitely the shrimp tacos. I dont usually get shrimp tacos because of the fishy taste but these were exceptional! I love how well the shrimp goes with the cheese and mixes well with the other condiments like pepper and radish! the birria was nice and juicy and filled with cheese! the French fries were so crispy on the outside yet moist on the inside! I was shocked to find this because it's usually really difficult to maintain the consistency of the fries as you are deep frying the outer surface. the service was amazing as well! the waiters were all so nice and welcoming. we had a couple of questions regarding the number of tacos provided and how the portion size for each dish was and the waiter was patient and detailed when answering our questions! the interior design is just mind blowing. I love how the lights dangle off the ceiling and radiate off the walls. it creates such a romantic and soothing time! I would definitely come here again and again whenever im in the area! DEFINITELY CHECK THIS PLACE OUT IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA!!!!
While exploring the area near the river by WTC, we ran into El Vez, a warm and cozy burrito bar on Vesey St. We loved the Dia de los Meurtos decorations, especially the Elvis portrait (we're big fans) we found near our table. We stopped in for brunch and were delighted with the service, drinks, breakfast burritos and quesadillas. Very reasonably priced, service was good, and the food was delicious and filling. We'll have to come back for dinner one evening.
The ambiance and service was good, we were greeted and seated promptly. The nachos are worth it! Might skip the mushroom tacos and enchiladas next time
We are so happy we finally tried El Vez! The food and drinks were exceptional, specifically the frozen margaritas! We tried a wide array of tacos between our party and the Birria tacos were cooked to perfection. The nachos are a thin layer of chips and for the price, we had hoped to have a little more but the quality of the ingredients were amazing! I'd recommend ordering two if you have a party of 4+. Our only "complaint" was the attentiveness of our waitress; she was extremely sweet and kind but there were long periods of time where we couldn't find her and waited to order our main course as she quickly left after placing our appetizer. The various managers on shift checked on us multiple times and we didn't mind the wait as we were able to enjoy the company we were with without being rushed. Went for lunch at El Vez on a weekday holiday when it wasn't too crowded and has a nice meal. Started with the Classic Guacamole which was solid and had the Carne Asada Mission Burrito and the Tacos Al Carbon For Two with the Skirt Steak which was excellent (and nicely presented) Service was friendly and efficient, comfortable atmosphere. read more

Basing this review on an after work function. Caje here on a Wednesday afternoon about 5. There was some confusion at the hostess desk and accounted for a group of people moving three times venire we were placed correctly. This place got packed, really quickly. The place is large with multiple sections but it was still packed as groups and groups kept coming in. But the drink I had, margarita was strong and delicious. Servers worked hard. read more

I recently visited El Vez for lunch and overall my experience was a mixed bag. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. We tried the chicken enchiladas and chicken burrito, which were flavorful but lacked that extra punch that makes a meal memorable. Came here for my company Christmas party dinner. As it was during the holidays and we had an big party, reservations is a must. It was very crowded and busy. They were able to seat us in one long table. We were a party of 15. Food was good. I would recommend the nacho mama and chips with guacamole. Their guacamole is really good. I ordered the taco Al carbon for 2 with steak and shrimp. I like the concept of making your own tacos. The staff was able to accommodate us and gave us a side for hard taco as it only came with soft taco. It came with grilled veggie, cheese and sauces in the side. The fried snapper is also a good choice. The fish was so crispy and soft. For dessert we ordered the parfait, chocolate mousse, churros and ice cream taco. I would recommend the parfait. It was pretty and delicious. The churros were also good with the warm sauce. For the drink I wanted pineapple juice but they gave me the pineapple ginger punch. I was too much ginger for my liking. read more

Nice staff, good drinks, pretty good food. Easy to make a reservation, large space with cool decor, a bit warm inside. I got chicken quesadillas which were fine. The lavender honey jalapeño margarita was great, not too sweet, and with a kick. My friend got steak tacos, which she seemed to like. We shared chips and salsa. The salsa didn't have a ton of flavor but was fine. Comfortable seating with large booths and tables available, and service was quick. read more

El Vez is a reliable staple in my restaurant rotation. The food tastes authentic, the cocktails are delicious and the menu is expansive. I've probably been here 20+ times so I'm going to highlight my favorite dishes: 1) Tacos Al Carbon for 2 is a perfect blend of grilled meats, sauces, soft tacos and toppings. If you're overwhelmed by the menu choices you can't go wrong picking this item. I would definitely do the 3 combo for $63 and have Steak, Chicken and Shrimp. It comes with salsa, guac, sour cream, and grilled onions and peppers. I always loved the Chilis Sizzling Fajitas growing up and this is like the elevated version. 2) Nacho Mama - I gotta say El Vez Nachos are unreal. They are made fresh to order and nothing like movie theater nachos. The cheese is not an orange plastic cheese. Its savory and mild and not too heavy. The pickled onions and jalapeños add a perfect contrast to cut through the richness. Most recently we got The Nacho That Ate New York for 8 people and we added Birria short rib on top. This was easily one of the best things I ate this year. I couldn't stop myself shoveling in mouthfuls of queso crunchiness. We polished the entire platter. You HAVE to get these!! 3) I absolutely love fresh ceviche - the Aguachile Verde is an amazing sweet and sour plate of fresh seafood. It has shrimp, kampachi and crab. The salsa verde adds a crisp, vinegar tang while the melon provides the sweetness. One of the tastiest things on the menu for sure! I will say when you add on Margaritas, house made guacamole and other sides, the bill can really add up quickly. While it's not an everyday casual retaurant, El Vez ranks highly on my list and I come here often whether its for a formal celebration of just dinner with friends. We came here on a Friday night around 8pm, the place wasn't packed so we were able to be seated right away. We also did not have reservations. We ordered the blood orange margaritas, guac and chips, chicken quesadilla, and chicken tacos. Everything came out pretty quickly. 15 min and we had all our food on the table. The guac and chips came like right after we ordered along with our drinks. There is a decent amount of chips. The guac tasted fresh and I liked that there wasn't much salt. My chicken quesadilla was average, it was a decent amount but I wish the tortilla was toasted, it was just soft and hard to chew apart. The chicken was also kind of dry. The chicken tacos actually tasted very similar to the quesadilla, same seasoning perhaps. I enjoyed the blood orange margaritas but my boyfriend thought it was kind of on the sour side. Overall it has a nice ambiance but the food was just okay. read more
If you are looking for good service, food, and ambiance, EL Vez is your restaurant. I make that statement upfront because EL Vez checks off all the boxes and hits all the marks. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that my guest was in for a treat. Although EL Vez is a short walk from the World Trade Center, ita worth it because of the views, shopping, and high energy in the surroundings. My only disappointment was not mine; I chose EL Vez because I thought they served burritos throughout the day, but that was not the case. It's always a bit disappointing when you get your mouth fixed for something only to find out when you arrive that it's not being .served or served only on a particular day or time. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my enchiladas with mole sauce. I believe it was the best mole sauce life ever had. I must give a round of applause to the chefs and the staff for a fantastic experience. read more
