I went to Dos Caminos hoping to relive some of the nostalgia from the days when my friends and I used to frequent the place. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to those memories. I ordered the red sangria, guacamole, taquitos, and cornbread. While the sangria came right away, it took twenty-five minutes to get my food. I watched others at the bar receive their food before me even though I had ordered before them. When the food finally arrived, it was a mixed bag. The guacamole wasn't as chunky as I was expecting and it had no spice at all even though I had asked for spicy guacamole. The taquitos were tasty. The cornbread was sweet and buttery, but the chewy overbaked texture was offputting. The saving grace was the sangria. It was refreshing and not too sweet. read more

The line to get in for a Thursday lunch moved a bit slowly, but once I sat (at the bar), service was prompt and on-point. The bartender served water right away and whipped up a red sangria in no time. She also left my receipt without me asking, making it easy to pay with cash and get out of there without needing to get her attention again. I came here for a family member's birthday & had a pretty good experience. The nachos were the highlight of the night & were perfectly placed & plated for everyone at our table to enjoy. I ordered the chicken quesadilla & enjoyed it, but other people I came with ordered beef & birria tacos & weren't too crazy about the flavors in both dishes. Visited Dos Caminos on a weekday for lunch, and it was absolutely delicious! The restaurant was extremely empty in the afternoon, so there was plenty of seating on both the first and second floor. The interior was decorated colorfully and festively. We asked plenty of questions to our waiter, who was patient and helpful. The food arrived speedily. I was really impressed with all the dishes we ordered! The Shrimp Enchiladas Suizas were particularly memorable. I enjoyed the citrus-chile marinated shrimp, which paired well with roasted corn, cheese, poblano rajas, salsa suiza, crema, and queso fresco. It was a rich and hearty meal with plenty of flavor. My girlfriends and I had the BEST experience! The first time we came we got seated upstairs where it was a bit quieter which was great for catching up. The food was great but the best part was our waiter Cesar B. He was so attentive, funny, didn't rush us, and just made the whole night so much fun! We LOVED our food! It was because of Cesar B that we recently came back again and this time it was PACKED, we were seated in the main dining area downstairs so it was a bit lively but it was so much fun and again we got Cesar B who made everything great! I seldom ever write one star reviews. The one star goes to my server, she was very sweet and helpful. Let's start with the $5 chips and salsa, the salsa was actually decent. The chips were a combination of stale, salty and undercooked (the chips were "glued" together by the oil they were cooked in); so for five bucks I got a cup of good salsa. Let's move on to the main course, I ordered their 8oz carne asada made with skirt steak. Ordered it medium rare, I think it was rare but there was no way to discern that because the steak was buried at sea in a gloopy mess of salty melted cheese, some other sauce along with some actually good pinto beans. The steak was cut up into strips in the mess, it seemed like it was untrimmed, there was a layer of gristly fat that's endemic on skirt steak and needs to be removed before grilling, here it wasn't at all. When I tried cutting the pieces into bite-sized pieces I couldn't. There were also unidentifiable pieces of some type mystery veggies which might've been tomatoes, but who knows? I also asked if it came with tortillas and it did, ONE large tortilla well soaked in the mystery sauce. The server removed the $33 mess from my check and I ended up paying for the overpriced chips and iced tea. Would I come here again? Probably not, they have a long way to go to earn my business back, and can start by going back to making simple food instead of whatever it is they're serving now. read more

You really can't go wrong when dining at Dos Caminos you have a large selection of items on the menu. This location is on Lex and 46th street so perfect after work or lunch time location. Service is all on point very attentive and they have the ability to work the floor to assist all of their tables. Your food is always quickly brought it t the table and they are very accommodating if you want to add or subtract something from what's listed on the menu and the food is pretty flavorful. As for the ambiance this location has entrance seating and also upstairs which also has a bar area and much more seating for large parties. If you are in mid town check them out!!! read more

We were in NY with our kids (7 and 10) a few weeks ago. An experience unlike any they have had. After five days - we were exhausted and as we were staying a few blocks from Dos Caminos, we decided to go in for a drink and dinner they would probably accept. Our server was Cesar B. and he was incredible. His spirit, attentiveness and effort to engage our girls turned the day around. I have been to other Dos Caminos location in NYC; but I must say this one on Lexington Avenue was the biggest with 2 floors and a very happening atmosphere. I definitely found the interior decoration and art work appealing. Love the vibes. We ordered a few strawberry margaritas on the rocks that were obviously delicious with a strong mixture of tequila. For appetizers we shared the most delicious and fresh guacamole with crispy chips. We also shared an order of fish tacos. Each order came with three tacos; our waiter recommended we order 4 so we can equally shared in a party of two. It was my first time tasting fish tacos at Dos Caminos and I totally enjoyed the tendered yet juicy and flavorful fish with such yummy seasoning . We also ordered some french fries to soak up the tequila....haha! A couple of my colleagues were looking to unwind after work, and since this Dos Caminos location is close to our office we decided to head over. I didn't know much about the place before going, but how can you go wrong with some chips, guac, and drinks? Dos Caminos is a chain with locations throughout the country - this is the first time I had been to one, so my opinion of the chain is solely based on this experience. Walking in, we were greeted by a grand space - high ceilings, high-top tables, and a bar along the back wall. It looked like there may have been a second floor with more seating, but we didn't explore that. We didn't have a reservation, but the bar seating was first-come first-served so we sat at some open seats there. The vibe was loud, with simple decor and clean lines. Before food, we got some drinks. I started with the Watermelon which was fine but didn't have a lot of watermelon flavor - it was also green which made me confirm I got the correct drink (I did). I guess my mind always thinks watermelon stuff is pink/red. Anyway, for round two I got the jalapeño margarita which was better. For food we got some shareables: chips with guac, queso fundido, and camarones alambres. Everything was fine; the guac was chunky (a good thing) but I would like to have seen more seasonings/flavor added. The queso fundido again lacked flavor, but the chorizo helped a bit. The camarones was the most noteworthy thing we ordered - they were wrapped in bacon and served with a flavorful slaw. Service was good - the bartender was really attentive and made sure we were taken care of. Overall, I had a fine experience at Dos Caminos. The food didn't blow me away, but for an after work spot to unwind and socialize, this is a good midtown option. read more

Was in NYC for a quick trip and starved after a long flight. I have food allergies so I usually plan ahead and find places that can accommodate, but this visit was very last-minute. We walked past Dos Caminos and thought, at worst, I could snack on some chips until we found a better option. We were in for a pleasant surprise, thanks to our server, Cesar B. He had such an amazing, positive energy and went above and beyond to help me navigate the menu so that I could actually have a full meal. The cauliflower tacos were BOMB!
