The food, the drinks, the ambiance - everything was great. The visit would have been perfect except for the fact there was no A/C that day. Per our usual girl dinner we shared some apps, drank some cocktails, and relaxed. Lovely place for drinks.

Some of the best Mexican food in the city! The flavors are excellent and the portion sizes are just perfect - not too little, not too much. The staff was superb as well! VERY friendly and willing to explain how a certain dish is cooked and what's exactly in it. My group was seated in a semi-private area that was both intimate, yet still somewhat part of the liveliness of the main dining area. We'll definitely return when we're in the area.

The tacos were excellent... we enjoyed the fish the most. Unfortunately the dessert didn't pan out. The flan had become scrambled eggs.. they took it back no problem and also took it off the check. Waitstaff were very nice. Bit preoccupied and it wasn't busy. But still very nice. I would go back for more tacos!

We've had good experiences at other Peruvian fusion restaurants and Frida continued that trend. First the staff: everyone was so friendly, smiling, gracious and helpful. The decor was tasteful and comfortable, an effort had been made. And the food was fabulous. We weren't overly hungry so we shared. First the guacamole which was served in a stone bowl topped with a delicious pico de gallo. We then shared the Frida salad which was also yum. Maybe a little heavy on the dressing but that's a very minor critique. Finally, we had the Birria Tacos. Our server suggested we add a fourth taco so we'd each get two. A great and helpful hint. My wife said she probably wouldn't eat a second until after her first disappeared in no time. We will definitely keep Frida in our midtown rotation going forward.

Frida's is a cute little restaurant within walking distance from the United Nations (we had just taken a tour there). My friend and I were seated at a cozy table for two. As we were deciding what to order from the menu, I heard another customer ask for the lunch menu. So, I did too. I always wonder why restaurants only give you one menu if they have multiples. And we were there at the peak lunchtime, so it doesn't make any sense to me why they wouldn't automatically give customers their lunch menu. The lunch menu consisted of entrees with a side. I chose the vegan tacos with guacamole and chips. Both were delicious! I had never tasted caramelized onions on top of guac before, and it was an amazing flavor combination! I appreciate that they offer vegan tacos. My friend also ordered tacos (non-vegan), and she was disappointed that they were sitting in a pool of oil. I also had ordered a Coke, but the server never stopped by to check if I wanted a refill. Sadly, he was not very attentive, which was surprising because the restaurant wasn't that busy. I loved the decor, especially the flowers around the bar area. The restroom in the basement was real nice too!

Frida was an excellent experience. I stopped by for a quick bite and drink after a long day. But it drew me in with an amazing bartender and great food that couldn't be rushed through. The sangria was on point. My tacos were terrific. But the Tres Leches cake -- omg I felt like the chef elevated his abuelita's recipe! Then Jose made me a signature cocktail that was served in a smoky cloche. Gracias mi amigo!

Went on a Sunday and seemed like they had lot of availability for walk ins. Staff members were all very kind and attentive. Even had live performance which was an unexpected touch! Food was great too. We got the birria and fish tacos. Very tasty but as others have commented, pricey for the amount of food given, particularly the apps. Its a cozy spot good for dates or large groups--would return.

Fantastic location with a great menu, manager, food AND drinks! I would suggest this for a group or date night. They really went out of their way to make us feel at home. I loved the mojitos! So much so that I forgot what i ordered!! Delicious though! Enjoy with friends!

Came for happy hour (4-6). Only about 7 seats at the bar so get there early. Got a few food items and drinks. The food was good, but the portions were a bit smaller than expected. Got the guacamole, quesadilla and mussels. Flavors were good. Service was great, ambiance was nice for a date night.

Amazing experience at Frida Midtown! We had the ribeye, fish tacos, Caesar salad, and guacamole everything was absolutely delicious and fresh. Daniel, our waiter, was excellent super friendly, attentive, and always smiling. The bar was great too, and the margarita was perfectly made. They even stayed after closing time and never made us feel rushed or unwelcome such warm hospitality! Highly recommend this place for great food, great vibes, and wonderful service.

Very cute spot in midtown that I didn't know existed! It's a mix of Peruvian/mexican food, which was delicious. We got the filet mignon anticuchos and chicken tacos. To drink I got a pisco sour. I would highly recommend all those items! Definitely would be coming back.

My friend and I were here for HH and got the barria tacos and filet mignon quesadillas (from HH menu) + sangrias and margs. Quality/taste: Barria tacos were good but the HH deal only came with 2 tacos although the meat portions were pretty good. A lot of good flavor. Might have been a bit too much cinnamon? but it was still good regardless. My friend had the quesadillas and she said it was the best quesadillas she's ever had! Our drinks were yummy - the sangrias were a bit too sweet/unauthentic tasting. The margs were good; not too sweet and pretty strong. Service: Quick and friendly staff. Seated right away upon entering and we chose to sat at the bar. The bartender was pretty busy while also being attentive to us. Everyone was really nice. Our counter space was cleared quickly upon finishing. Environment: Quite spacious with cool wall art. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Fruit flies flying around the bar, which was a little annoying. Price: $$ (based off HH specials) Not bad pricing! Would come back for their HH :) I'd recommend this restaurant. Definitely try to come during their HH since it seems to be a better deal! No

4.5 stars overall for the service and delicious food. Our Server Armando is hospitable and efficient as always. He seems to be the best server and likely the server in the sections I've dined in. Each visit, I've had him wait on my table so lucky me. There's plenty of staffers around to clean, clear, and provide support for him so this place is well managed given the crowds. Bar scene and dining scene are both lively and delightful. Great spot for after work drinks and the food, is elevated Mexican comfort food with Peruvian influences. Every dish here is reimagined to bring more flavors to the palette. They offer daily happy hour drinks and the bar seating area is a fun spot to watch the mixologist at work. I sat there for a bit waiting on a friend pre-dinner and it was so entertaining to watch. Menu - oh so much to try! The duck and birria tacos are very popular. The pulpo asado is a must try. Of course guacamole to start with that drink, I know you know. We enjoyed the ceviche options, but the group favorite was the ceviche Frida. Refreshing and light. Entrees were totally shareable so if you can't decide, then order a few.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back, especially for the mushroom burger.
