More historical plaques on the building facade, including National Register of Historic Places

We stopped here for an early lunch at the 11 AM opening and were immediately seated. It was an interesting experience as we made our way to the table since this is obviously a historic building and unique in contrast to modern buildings and layout. I enjoyed a bowl of clam chowder and it was rich, creamy, and delicious. Waitstaff were very nice and helpful. Noise level was low since few people were dining on an early Saturday, but suspect this is a very busy venue as the day unfolds. Would love to return and check out more of the building and the menu.

Mac & Cheese, Nitro Stout

Mac & Cheese: Fire Pretzel: Fire Nitro Stout: Fire Lowkey the cheese in the mac and cheese tasted like taco bell cheese and I mean that in the highest regards like I LOVE taco bell cheese. Pretzel was soft asf and the two sauces were both too good. Nitro Stout was in substitute of a Guinness but it was a stellar substitute.

Came here for a quick bite to eat (AND a couple of cocktails, of course). We were seated immediately and offered a menu (along with a link to their QC code with additional offerings). Such a cool historic place (with a museum upstairs!). Hubby had the Heady Topper and I had the Blackbird cocktail (times 3). So good - that cocktail was gloriously addicting! For food we had the Warm Baguette (with a perfectly whipped herb butter), and the Chef's Board - all snackable and delightfully fresh!

This historic restaurant in FiDi is so spacious and has a great ambiance for big groups. There's also a cool museum upstairs that you can check out before/after dining! Service is great. I came with a large group and they were great at coming out quickly and remembering our orders. We got their charcuterie board to share, bacon-wrapped shrimp, wings, and crab cakes to share. I thought that the appetizers were alright and nothing stood out too much. I got their pan-seared salmon as my main and enjoyed it! Overall, I think that it is a bit overpriced for the food quality, but ambiance-wise, it's great.

Ambiance is amazing, definitely check out the museum upstairs. Worth the $10 admission. We had a reservation for lunch so there was no wait time. But, we also went for lunch on a Friday after the holidays so the place wasn't necessarily packed either at that time. I was hoping to be able to roam around the restaurant and look at the other rooms like the piano bar, Lafayette's hideout, Washington room, etc. but those areas were blocked off. Service was ok. It took awhile though for our server to greet us and give us menus once we were seated. But once we ordered our food and drinks, they came out pretty fast. Our drinks were delicious. Perfectly balanced and had a good amount of alcohol which I liked. My husband and I both got the chicken pot pie. It was presently beautifully and tasted delicious. The chicken was moist and plentiful. It also had an equal amount of veggies and a good amount of sauce. The crust was also cooked just right and not too dry or too doughy. Would recommend and would come back again.

We wandered in here to escape the rain, have a drink, and fill our stomachs. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were amazing! The drinks were out of this world! I felt like I was dining in an historical atmosphere and then we found out we were! Toasting the Easter bunny was the cherry on top! Thanks for making our NYC visit spectacular!

Great food, great whiskey, and zero reservations, literally. This tavern is NYC's oldest and it ended up being a surprisingly wonderful birthday lunch spot. We walked in with no reservation at peak lunchtime and somehow still got a table for five. We also had no idea it was the anniversary of Evacuation Day (November 25, 1783), when British troops finally left NYC and Washington paraded in and had dinner at there, so we accidentally walked straight into reenactors, demos, and a whole crowd reliving history right outside the door. Inside, the tavern has that historic wood-and-holiday-decor charm without forcing anyone to romanticize colonialism. We sat in the Independence section and ordered from their online menu which is section-specific. The food was great, especially mine. My Oysters were fresh and sand-free. My Irish Coffee was hot, strong, and blessed with whiskey that could fix anyone's mood. Then my Chicken Pot Pie was easily the best version I ever tasted. Hubs' Reuben had great flavor even if the meat was a little chewy. He still finished it, so that says something. Service was friendly and checked in often. NOTES/TIPS: **Consider touring the Fraunces Tavern Museum which right next to it. ~$10 fee. Revolution-era artifacts, paintings, documents, and recreations. **Wheelchair-accessibility is mixed.

Came here on a weeknight for dinner and drinks and was thrilled at the service and overall vibe! It has a distinct charm, particularly being nestled in FiDi. Prices are high ($21 for a glass of wine) so be prepared. We started with the cheese board as an appetizer (you get to select three cheeses) and then I got the pesto burrata pasta, which was delicious! Everything was excellent + an added bonus that it is near public transit and the ferry!

I visited Fraunces Tavern for a holiday team meal, and the food was fantastic! This historic landmark, located at 54 Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan's Financial District, is not only the oldest bar and restaurant in New York City but also a significant site in American history, having served as George Washington's headquarters and a venue for peace negotiations with the British. Our host, Abraham, was incredibly respectful and managed our group of 17 with ease. I enjoyed the salmon sandwich, which was delicious, a bit messy--but it was worth it! As a New Yorker, I truly value places like Fraunces Tavern. If you're in the city, make sure to stop by, come hungry, and remember to order an appetizer since they don't serve bread!

I was excited about visiting the oldest restaurant/Tavern in New York City. We stopped in early for lunch, didn't have reservations, but they were able to seat us in the Independence Bar, which provided a cozy atmosphere for dining. Of course, I had to order their famous chicken pot pie, and it did not disappoint. This is a beautiful dish and it's great for lunch as it really is not as large of a portion as it looks. It was a satisfying dish that did not disappoint. My wife had the tavern burger, and it was perfectly cooked to her liking. I also tried a Wolfhound beer flight and it was pretty tasty as well. Regrettably, the museum does not open until 2 PM and we fonished dining about 12:30 PM, so we didn't stick around. I hope to explore the museum the next time I'm in town.

Decided to pop in for a drink. You can sit at a the bar or you can sit in the Dingle Whiskey Bar. This is where you separate the men from the boys . This bar only serves whiskey or whiskey drinks. Oscar was the bartender and he was fantastic. We ordered the blackbird. A sweeter drink but, fabulous. My hubby got the presidential punch. Very good drink as well.

Finally made it here for lunch and absolutely loved it ! The service was top notch the dining room was so historic and the food and ambiance were so memorable! I've lived in NYC for so long and amazed that you can still find a gem of history in different parts of the city ! We had the Tavern Burger , Chili , New England Clam Chowder and fries in the main dining room- Maybe I was inspired by the Ken Burns American Revolutionary War series on PBS and the mural on the wall and all the old Presidents are really inspiring! Fraunces Tavern was the last place General George Washington addressed and bode farewell to his soldiers after the long fought battle ! Go there and be taken back in time all the while eating delicious food and taking it all in

Apparently the oldest bar in New York City, Francis Tavern in the financial district is a great bar to visit that has that colonial style charm and food selections of beers! I swear if you blindfolded me and took me aside and told me I was in an old bar in Boston, I would have believed you. There's multiple bars to sit at for a beer plus they also have a full food menu in case you get hungry. I also witnessed some live music my first time there which is always a perk for me! Will definitely be back especially during the colder months where bars like this are fun to cozy up at. Oh, and someone next to me got the fish and chips platter which smelled and looked incredible! I will certainly order that next time.

Which area to sit in for lunch? Party of 6...

If you are making a reservation for lunch, it will be in the Tallmadge or Bissell Dining room.

Do they take Apple Pay ? My wallet was stolen!

I don't remember seeing them use hand held POS systems. Can't say they do or don't take Apple Pay

Is the tavern wheelchair accessible?

Legally probably yes. But it's very tight maneuvering in there.

Is this place generally very busy on a fall Friday afternoon?

Not too bad. It's a tremendous space with many rooms. Reservations can be made on line (recommended.) But, on an afternoon, I'm sure you could just walk in.

Are you open for lunch?

Yes. You can check and reserve via Resy. Super easy.

Do they have NFL Sunday Ticket?

Are they open on Christmas day?

Tucked into the Financial District, this spot blends old New York history with some of the best cocktails in the city--and it's easy to see why it's been named "World's Best Bar" more than once. The name itself has a wild backstory, inspired by a notorious 19th-century Irish-American gang from Five Points. It adds a layer of character to the place, but what really keeps people coming back is the atmosphere and the drinks. The space is split into two levels: a two lively, sawdust-floored Taprooms downstairs and a more refined Parlor upstairs if you're in the mood for a quieter, cocktail-focused experience. Drinks are the real highlight here. The Irish Coffee is widely considered one of the best in the world--rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced with whiskey, coffee, and fresh cream. They also get creative with variations like a frozen version and even an Irish Coffee martini. If you want something different, the "Act Naturally" is a standout, mixing Irish whiskey with Guinness and fig in a way that works. Food is just as impressive for a bar. The lobster deviled eggs (topped with caviar) are a must-try, and the menu leans into elevated comfort food. Overall, The Dead Rabbit nails the balance between historic charm and modern cocktail excellence. The D.R. is one of those places that is never boring and consistently delivers.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. The speakeasy vibe and the dark ambiance really makes this place feel even more exclusive. With just a few tables and the bar setting, you're in for an experience you won't forget (unless you answer the wrong questions and really end up with a drink you don't like HA). This wasn't my case. Of course I described my two favorite things: Negroni + mezcal. The obvious answer would be a mezcal Negroni, but that's not why one comes to a place like Attaboy. Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. My drink came as I couldn't possibly imagine. It looked like a Negroni smelled like Oaxaca, with all the smoke simmering up and preparing my sensory experience, leading to the best first sip.
