Great place for a birthday celebration for a large group! Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was phenomenal. Thank you to our server Cec! I was recommended to Lulla by friends who had been here for lunches, dinners and drinks. Great food and drinks, unfortunately I didn't get photos of everyone's dishes. Large group reserved in advance. We were originally supposed to be outdoors but the weather wasn't nice enough, so they were kind enough to find space for us indoors on the 2nd floor which was lovely. Plenty of seating on the main level and outside. Beautiful, bright space. They are dietary restriction friendly. There were vegetarians and those who are gluten-free in the group, and everyone had plenty of yummy options. Started with some pizzas for the table to share, some gluten-free and some regular. We also had the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. They are fresh-baked (give the staff 15 min notice to prepare them!) and come with a scoop of gelato in the middle. We're visiting from the Bay Area and Lulla wasn't on our radar but I'm so happy we stumbled across it! We were staying across the street and needed somewhere to eat for dinner;m. It's attached to Motto Hilton. They probably had the best service we've had during our whole vacation. Everyone was really friendly, they checked on us often, and the manager was doing his rounds all might making sure everyone was happy. We didn't have any reservations and it seemed like a busy night so they sat our party of 4 at the couches which was fine by us. It was cozy. Everything is delicious! We had an eggplant appetizer that my eggplant hating husband and nephew loved. It kind of tasted like a lasagna and the eggplant wasn't soggy which is probably why they liked it. I had the mussels cioppino, and coming from San Francisco (where cioppino originated) it was GOOD. Plenty of mussels and the tomato sauce was full bodied and seasoned well. Comes with a piece of toasted bread. Get the cookies for dessert! There were 6 perfectly baked, warm cookies that came with ice cream. The vibe was lively. I recently stopped by Lulla in Chelsea and it turned out to be the perfect after-work spot that's relaxed and great for drinks with shareable bites. Service was excellent and Emily was especially helpful throughout the meal. The highlight for me was the Aperitivo Box for two ($28 before 7pm, $38 after). It's a generous spread of Italian small plates perfect for grazing. Here's what was in the box: house focaccia with rosemary olives, and garlic marinated olives with thyme and orange zest giardiniera cannellini beans crostini with stracciatella panzanella with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes spiced nuts polpette with herb mascarpone and pecorino crispy fingerling potatoes with pistachio romesco We also shared the linguine vongole with manila clams, garlic, parsley, and white wine, and the grilled shrimp Caesar salad with gem lettuce, roasted tomato, pecorino romano, and bold Caesar dressing. Dessert was a house-made tiramisu, followed by a cappuccino to end the night. They also have a full menu of non-alcoholic cocktails, which I always appreciate seeing on a menu. Big spot attached to a hotel but honestly was kinda pleased with the experience. Don't hear much about this place but it's great for large groups and an easy reservation to snag and the food was better than solid. The pasta was definitely freshly made and the portion sizes are good. The ragu was dense and the cream on top made it richer and heavier, perfect for these brutally cold winter months. The calamari was solid, no overcooked pieces and a frittery fry externally. The ragu was my favorite dish. We also got a few glasses of wine and the vibe is modern, spacious and the staff was attentive. My friends and I came here for brunch on a Saturday. Please note it is really hard to find the entrance - go towards the entrance of Motto and you will be able to find this place. The place itself is super cute; open seating and we were seated immediately and the staff was very friendly and nice. The menu is your classic brunch items but they have cocktails and desserts as well. We decided to do family style and share everything: -Lulla Burger: This was delicious, very flavorful patty and the caramelized onions went really well with the burger. -Fries: Highly recommend getting a side of fries, you cannot go wrong with a side of fries, these were so perfectly seasoned and crispy. -Margarita Pizza: This was just alright - nothing too special. It's slightly on the smaller side -Buttermilk Pancake: This was so good, if you are in the mood for a sweet treat for breakfast, this is the dish for you. So fluffy and the nutella cream was so good. -Hand Cut Fettuccine: This was not bad but nothing too special as well. -Tiramisu: This was not bad, nothing too special though -Freshly Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies: These take about 15 minutes to come out but they are so fresh and hot and it comes with a side in gelato. I have been here for both breakfast and their all day menu. Most of the food has been quite solid. The chef has a knack for creating great flavors with fresh ingredients. I really have enjoyed my meals overall. On my first visit, I had the delicious Breakfast Sandwich, with fried egg, soppressata, mortadella, burrata and spinach. This may still be my favorite item from the restaurant. The Crispy Fingerling Potatoes were very flavorful too. Next go around, I was surprised how good the Lulla Burger was. The roasted tomato is really a nice addition, along with the sharp provolone and caramelized onions. I'm also thankful that they didn't use the typical burger sauce that's everywhere now. A simple bit of fresh aioli really gets the job done. The other two items I tasted were a mixed bag. Though the Crispy Artichoke Hearts were expensive, they were delicious. However, I was not a fan of their Panzanella Salad, partially because the croutons were soggy, stale, and not crispy. On my most recent meal, a group of us were able to try a few more items. As I have stated, prices seemed a bit high, but I really liked all the food. The Burrata was creamy, with an refreshing mint & pine nut pesto. The Eggplant Parmesan was unique and the Agnolotti was excellent too. I seriously enjoyed the Bronzino, but wish it was a whole fish instead of half. This time around, the Lulla Burger was slightly overcooked for my liking, but still enjoyable. Did another stop over into Lulla for happy hour since the weather was beautiful. The happy hour is a great deal with $12 cocktails, $8 beers, and $10 wines. The box they have is filled with delicious goodies, my favorite being the meatball. And for $4 extra, you can refill any of the sections of the box if you really liked anything in particular. We also tried their freshly baked cookies with hazelnut ice cream. The cookies were so soft and gooey and the ice cream was delicious. The service was on point with our server (sorry forgot her name, but want to say it was Steph?) was so kind, constantly checking on us and making sure that our waters were refilled. It took us a long time to get our order in and I could see the hostess trying to get us a server and she checked in with us twice before we ordered. Just had a lovely meal at Lulla. Delish food, and great ambiance, but be aware you are paying gor the seating and scenery, as the menu is in Manhattan prices in a hotel. Take for example the Hibachi crudo. Even though this is under the entrees section of the menu, it's really more of an appetizer. It only comes with the six slices of fish, so plan accordingly. We also had the Skirt steak, comes with a side of broccoli rabe and a scorched lemon. The steak, while cooked perfectly medium rare, lacked flavor. Barely any salt or pepper, would have done better if it was seasoned with a rub or accompanied by a sauce. The hand pulled fettuccine with veal meatballs was a hit. I usually don't gravitate towards veal, but these were juicy and tender. We even opted gor extra Meatballs, which were $3 a piece. We also had the Linguine and white wine clam sauce, and the Pasta Bolognese... both of which were decent. Good, but not memorable. I remember the clams being a bit sandy. While food was about a 4 star for taste, 4 for presentation, 3.5 star for flavor, service was about a 3.5, but location and atmosphere was a 5. Given that this was attached to a hotel/bar, we assumed that the dinner service was a little lacking due to the location in a hotel. read more

So far, Lulla has been our favorite meal in the city during this trip. To start, we ordered the shared appetizer box which was a steal at $28 for the tail end of happy hour. It contained small portions of each of their appys - Focaccia, Giardiniera, Panzanella, olives, Crostini, spiced nuts, a meatball... and every single one of them knocked it out of the park! We also tried the Agnolotti. Hearty, cozy, bolognese with a hint of orange as well. Very good! The portion wasn't small or huge. Just right. We also ordered the broccoli rabe which was nicely done but more bitter than I'd expect. We enjoyed it but just know that it's not for everyone! Service was great. Ambience was perfection. My only complaint is that we had several fruit and house flies buzzing around us which always puts a damper on things, and my only suggestion would be is add a few more desserts to the menu. Although Lulla is a hotel restaurant, the food was very top quality. I had the Linguine Vongole and it was a blend of perfect flavors. The clams were succulent, plentiful, and the shells were a perfect makeshift boat for the delicious sauce. Pasta was cooked perfectly and was wonderfully garnished with delicious garlic crisps and just enough parsley for a perfect herbacious touch. I also took advantage of the restaurant coupon included with my room stay, so it was an incredible first meal while in Chelsea. Servers are nice and restaurant is very beautiful. Celebrated my cousin's birthday here this weekend. It was absolutely astonishing. How delicious and thoughtful each item was. We enjoyed a few things, including chicken, piccata, the steak, and their Apertivo box. It gave us all a chance to try new things that we've never had per se. The focaccia that came with it was amazing as well as the pickled veg And candied nuts. I'm not a big drinker, but I thoroughly enjoy their Spritz and the Bellini. They also have the best Negroni my family had ever tasted. We picked upstairs to take a look at the second floor, and they had a really gorgeous lounge area, seasonally opened and named the Limoncello Lounge. It was so pretty and spacious and of course temperature controlled for this city heat. All in all would go back for sure read more

I visited Lulla a few times by virtue of being a guest at the Hilton hotel it is is located in. I had far from what I would call a stellar experience each time, however one sticks out as me as quite possibly the worst service given to me from a server / bartender I've ever had. On this evening I sat with two friends I was traveling with, and was greeted by a bartender who was friendly and even made a quick joke which I appreciated. Sadly, they turned service over to another individual who I don't think could have been any more disinterested in serving us if they tried. I ordered a drink, a beer on the menu, and was told "we don't have that". No other suggestion made, just a statement. I found something else, my friends and I put in our order, and they walked away with no other comment or verbal acknowledgment made. While I am not the most seasoned traveler, I've been to hotel bars plenty (including this one 3 times prior to this) and each time when we asked to close out they specifically asked how the check was to be split up and if we wanted to charge our rooms. This did not happen this time, rather we were given a single bill. It took far longer than it should have to get their attention to come back, and once they did and we requested it to be split, again no comment or verbal acknowledgement of our request, they simply took the one check back and walked away...only to return with separating it incorrectly. I again had to specify what we had wanted, and they took the incorrect receipt, not making any sort of apology, and walked away. Once given the correct check, no sort of thank you or any pleasantry, what I would consider the absolute bare minimum at any place, especially one that *seems* as upscale as this establishment. Given how poor of an experience was I noticed an individual near the bar throughout who appeared to be a manager - and I approached them who confirmed that they in fact were. I voiced my concerns, and to their minor credit they did comp my check ($12, but still) and offered some sort of "experience" my friends and I could take advantage of at his cost had we stayed another night or the next time we return. Sadly, this manger was within earshot of myself and other guests grovelling to our bartender about having to do some sort of "experience" with other guests while we were seated, so their attempt at saving face or creating a positive experience for me / us didn't go very far. No matter however as I will not be returning to this bar next time I'm in the city. read more

Went here following a hair appt in the area and was attracted to going because of the outdoor seating and being with my dog, but was told the hotel is dog friendly overall. They do an apertivo deal which you will not beat. Staff was so friendly and when a downpour came out of nowhere they invited to hang out in the lounge on the 2nd floor to wait it out and offered drink service there. I only have been to Lulla once, but am rarely in the nabe, so am writing this review prematurely. I got the hand pulled fettuccine and added 2 veal meatballs. Great dish. Better by far than any pasta from Eataly, the fettuccine had a nice flavor on its own. It is cooked slightly al dente, which is perfect but if you don't like pasta with a slight chew ask for a longer cook time. The meatballs are tender with almost no filler. The tomato sauce and dollop of ricotta made it all come together. The outdoor space is charming and quite nice for that part of town. You do hear street noise. The service was excellent. read more

Came here on a Friday night and the outside was fairly packed. The inside of the restaurant has a modern deco appearance with cool velvet couches. Appetizer: $16 eggplant parm. It was an interesting twist on eggplant parm, the topping on top was a mix of cilantro, garlic, as well as other ingredients. Not what you expect on eggplant parm, wish they had written that on the menu. Entrees: Spicy lamb ragu: the pasta in this is homemade and it tastes homemade. The mint in this is overpowering. I get that lamb is paired with mint, but in this case it is just too much. Basil would have been better. For $28, the lamb in the dish was minuscule and I had to spit out a few pieces because of the chewy fatty pieces. Hand cut fettuccine: pasta was similar to the spicy ragu. It was a $26 dish and you can add a protein. They don't write on the menu how much the addition of protein is. But we added the breaded chicken. The chicken was crunchy, but could have used a few less minutes cooking since it was a bit tough. I'm assuming the addition of breaded chicken was $13 since there was no breakdown on the bill, making the dish $38. Dessert: again not listed on the menu but they have 3 options, we got the chocolate chip cookies with hazelnut gelato. Warm and gooey cookies. Service: our waitress was great, she checked on us frequently and had recommendations. The food came out in a reasonable fashion. We also ate early for a Friday. I think some more transparency in their menu would go a long way. Overall, it was a good experience but in a city filled with so many options, I think this is a one time experience. read more
