Lulla is located inside the Motto by Hilton, and was one reason I chose to stay at this property. Loved the cocktail bar, and the dining area as it would be perfect for a night cap, dinner the night arriving, and even breakfast as provided a food/beverage credit from Hilton. Happy to report it is as beautiful as the pictures. What I Ordered (Dinner) - Belvedere Dirty Vodka Martini: Wish they had blue cheese stuffed olives, so this was my only martini of my stay here. - Hangar Steak: After a day of traveling, this was perfect and the steak was both cooked and seasoned beautifully. Though, I wished it was served with a vegetable other than a plateful of potatoes. Be nice to have half the potatoes with some vegetables like Brussel sprouts. What I Ordered (Breakfast): - Cappuccino: A pretty decently crafted cappuccino with good quality espresso and velvety foam to withstand the raw sugar test. I'd order a couple days of my stay as very convenient to enjoy with breakfast before my journey into the office. - Omelette: This was not a do over again for me. I didn't enjoy the flavor profile, and ultimately ended up taking as leftovers which sat in fridge purgatory to be tossed as my stay concluded. - Baked Eggs: My breakfast staple during my stay! I wished it came with more toast (3-4 slices), but the flavor of the tomato base is divine. For a price point of $20, I thought this was perfect after seeing Manhattan prices around the city! - Side Toast: two pieces of toast for the baked eggs is bewildering to me. I think there should be three at least, so I ordered two more pieces for $4.00. - Flat White: Just like the cappuccino, this is made with good quality espresso though I wish this was crafted a little better. Typically, there's latte art or at minimum a dot to show the flat white perfect pour. I ended up going back to a cappuccino for the rest of my stay. What I Ordered (Bar): - Aperol Spritz: Light, refreshing a great way to cheers to a lovely work trip to NYC with a coworker who had the cutest seasonal punch in a tea cup. Shout out to Rameen as she was super friendly two times I dined for breakfast. All service was fairly friendly, with some staff like Rameen truly standing out. I've been twice now for late night eats, which I'm glad Lulla does. It's very hard to find places serving food in Chelsea after 10:30. I think the menu could stand to be a little bigger. There were plenty of people dining in the restaurant at 11:00. I've had the pizza both times: very good even without the sausage. And this time the waiter served it with honey on the side (it's a hot and sweet Calabrian pie), which was a nice touch. The prices ($26) are pretty comparable to other Italian casual eateries. It took a while for us to get our food. Maybe they didn't have enough staff or they weren't expecting such a large crowd after 10. Great place for happy hour and outdoor dining! The best part of their HH is not only that it goes to 7pm, but this aperitivo box which gives you a bite of everything! This box is meant to feed two and actually fed four of us! For mains, we had the fettuccine and added veal meatballs, eggplant parm, and shared focaccia. Great place for a birthday celebration for a large group! Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was phenomenal. Thank you to our server Cec! I was recommended to Lulla by friends who had been here for lunches, dinners and drinks. Great food and drinks, unfortunately I didn't get photos of everyone's dishes. Large group reserved in advance. We were originally supposed to be outdoors but the weather wasn't nice enough, so they were kind enough to find space for us indoors on the 2nd floor which was lovely. Plenty of seating on the main level and outside. Beautiful, bright space. They are dietary restriction friendly. There were vegetarians and those who are gluten-free in the group, and everyone had plenty of yummy options. Started with some pizzas for the table to share, some gluten-free and some regular. We also had the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. They are fresh-baked (give the staff 15 min notice to prepare them!) and come with a scoop of gelato in the middle. My partner and I stayed at the Motto by Hilton in Chelsea and made a few pit stops to the lobby bar/restaurant at the end of our long days. During one visit, we ordered Limoncello (amongst other cocktails) and Foccacia. Both were tasty. Lulla is super cute and has plenty of seating - never seemed to be busy. We're visiting from the Bay Area and Lulla wasn't on our radar but I'm so happy we stumbled across it! We were staying across the street and needed somewhere to eat for dinner;m. It's attached to Motto Hilton. They probably had the best service we've had during our whole vacation. Everyone was really friendly, they checked on us often, and the manager was doing his rounds all might making sure everyone was happy. We didn't have any reservations and it seemed like a busy night so they sat our party of 4 at the couches which was fine by us. It was cozy. Everything is delicious! We had an eggplant appetizer that my eggplant hating husband and nephew loved. It kind of tasted like a lasagna and the eggplant wasn't soggy which is probably why they liked it. I had the mussels cioppino, and coming from San Francisco (where cioppino originated) it was GOOD. Plenty of mussels and the tomato sauce was full bodied and seasoned well. Comes with a piece of toasted bread. Get the cookies for dessert! There were 6 perfectly baked, warm cookies that came with ice cream. The vibe was lively. I recently stopped by Lulla in Chelsea and it turned out to be the perfect after-work spot that's relaxed and great for drinks with shareable bites. Service was excellent and Emily was especially helpful throughout the meal. The highlight for me was the Aperitivo Box for two ($28 before 7pm, $38 after). It's a generous spread of Italian small plates perfect for grazing. Here's what was in the box: house focaccia with rosemary olives, and garlic marinated olives with thyme and orange zest giardiniera cannellini beans crostini with stracciatella panzanella with mozzarella and cherry tomatoes spiced nuts polpette with herb mascarpone and pecorino crispy fingerling potatoes with pistachio romesco We also shared the linguine vongole with manila clams, garlic, parsley, and white wine, and the grilled shrimp Caesar salad with gem lettuce, roasted tomato, pecorino romano, and bold Caesar dressing. Dessert was a house-made tiramisu, followed by a cappuccino to end the night. They also have a full menu of non-alcoholic cocktails, which I always appreciate seeing on a menu. UPDATE: changing my review from 1 star to 5 stars based on the follow up by management after our first dinner service. The manager, Megan, reached out to us the next day and went above and beyond to make our experience better at Lulla. Her along with Gabby, one of the servers, provided excellent service to us to ensure that we left Lulla on a high note. The communication and follow up was excellent. Thank you guys for making things right! ------ We went into this dinner with high expectations based on online reviews and other photos we've seen. We stayed at Motto for a few nights and wanted to have a rainy date night dinner at Lulla on the weekend. That being said, this was one of the worst dinner experiences we have had in recent memory, starting from the beginning. We made a reservation for terrace seating, yet the hostess tried bringing us to bar seating without mentioning a thing; we had to tell her this was not what we reserved. After being seated, we ordered our drinks from the menu, only to be told 5 minutes later that this was the wrong menu and the drinks could not be made. Despite ordering drinks 15 minutes before food, our meals came out before drinks and we waited approx 20 min for them which is not acceptable. We also noticed that all of the food did not appear to be cooked 100% based on what we saw beforehand, and the pasta and pizza were mostly cold despite coming out steaming, which suggests it was microwaved beforehand. Our server did not check up on us a single time after we ordered, as if she did not care about our table. Finally, when we asked for a to go box for our undercooked pizza, it was thrown in the smallest container, stuffed on top of each other shown in photo. Is this really the biggest container you could have? We were flabbergasted. What started with high hopes for a good date night dinner turned into a mostly awful experience. Big spot attached to a hotel but honestly was kinda pleased with the experience. Don't hear much about this place but it's great for large groups and an easy reservation to snag and the food was better than solid. The pasta was definitely freshly made and the portion sizes are good. The ragu was dense and the cream on top made it richer and heavier, perfect for these brutally cold winter months. The calamari was solid, no overcooked pieces and a frittery fry externally. The ragu was my favorite dish. We also got a few glasses of wine and the vibe is modern, spacious and the staff was attentive. My friends and I came here for brunch on a Saturday. Please note it is really hard to find the entrance - go towards the entrance of Motto and you will be able to find this place. The place itself is super cute; open seating and we were seated immediately and the staff was very friendly and nice. The menu is your classic brunch items but they have cocktails and desserts as well. We decided to do family style and share everything: -Lulla Burger: This was delicious, very flavorful patty and the caramelized onions went really well with the burger. -Fries: Highly recommend getting a side of fries, you cannot go wrong with a side of fries, these were so perfectly seasoned and crispy. -Margarita Pizza: This was just alright - nothing too special. It's slightly on the smaller side -Buttermilk Pancake: This was so good, if you are in the mood for a sweet treat for breakfast, this is the dish for you. Came for brunch on a Sunday. Had a res for 14 people but they seated us in a lounge area with sofas and two tables. A little bit odd seating in my opinion but honestly good to mingle just a little odd to eat. I got the overnight oats which were actually great. Loved the espresso mascarpone flavor. This may still be my favorite item from the restaurant. The Crispy Fingerling Potatoes were very flavorful too. Next go around, I was surprised how good the Lulla Burger was. The roasted tomato is really a nice addition, along with the sharp provolone and caramelized onions. I'm also thankful that they didn't use the typical burger sauce that's everywhere now. A simple bit of fresh aioli really gets the job done. The other two items I tasted were a mixed bag. Though the Crispy Artichoke Hearts were expensive, they were delicious. However, I was not a fan of their Panzanella Salad, partially because the croutons were soggy, stale, and not crispy. On my most recent meal, a group of us were able to try a few more items. As I have stated, prices seemed a bit high, but I really liked all the food. The Burrata was creamy, with an refreshing mint & pine nut pesto. The Eggplant Parmesan was unique and the Agnolotti was excellent too. I seriously enjoyed the Bronzino, but wish it was a whole fish instead of half. This time around, the Lulla Burger was slightly overcooked for my liking, but still enjoyable. Every time I visit, it's a great experience! The food is exceptional: calamari, pizza and the focaccia appetizer are a must. Great house wine and cocktail menu if you want to unwind. We went for an early dinner with friends around 5pm on Saturday -- it wasn't too busy. The place is super nice, clean, and spacious, with really friendly staff. It's located inside a hotel. Did another stop over into Lulla for happy hour since the weather was beautiful. The happy hour is a great deal with $12 cocktails, $8 beers, and $10 wines. The box they have is filled with delicious goodies, my favorite being the meatball. And for $4 extra, you can refill any of the sections of the box if you really liked anything in particular. We also tried their freshly baked cookies with hazelnut ice cream. The cookies were so soft and gooey and the ice cream was delicious. The service was on point with our server (sorry forgot her name, but want to say it was Steph?) was so kind, constantly checking on us and making sure that our waters were refilled. It took us a long time to get our order in and I could see the hostess trying to get us a server and she checked in with us twice before we ordered. After we ordered the food came out really quick but our friend quickly found that the pasta had a produce sticker in it so when our waiter asked about our food we let them know and he quickly took the food away and called the manager. She quickly apologized and asked us what we wanted and offered a new pasta on the house, comping the old pasta, and offering free dessert which def made it better. Just had a lovely meal at Lulla. Delish food, and great ambiance, but be aware you are paying gor the seating and scenery, as the menu is in Manhattan prices in a hotel. Take for example the Hibachi crudo. Even though this is under the entrees section of the menu, it's really more of an appetizer. It only comes with the six slices of fish, so plan accordingly. We also had the Skirt steak, comes with a side of broccoli rabe and a scorched lemon. The steak, while cooked perfectly medium rare, lacked flavor. Barely any salt or pepper, would have done better if it was seasoned with a rub or accompanied by a sauce. The hand pulled fettuccine with veal meatballs was a hit. I usually don't gravitate towards veal, but these were juicy and tender. We even opted gor extra Meatballs, which were $3 a piece. We also had the Linguine and white wine clam sauce, and the Pasta Bolognese... both of which were decent. Good, but not memorable. I remember the clams being a bit sandy. While food was about a 4 star for taste, 4 for presentation, 3.5 star for flavor, service was about a 3.5, but location and atmosphere was a 5. So far, Lulla has been our favorite meal in the city during this trip. To start, we ordered the shared appetizer box which was a steal at $28 for the tail end of happy hour. It contained small portions of each of their appys - Focaccia, Giardiniera, Panzanella, olives, Crostini, spiced nuts, a meatball... and every single one of them knocked it out of the park! We also tried the Agnolotti. Hearty, cozy, bolognese with a hint of orange as well. Very good! The portion wasn't small or huge. Just right. The clams were succulent, plentiful, and the shells were a perfect makeshift boat for the delicious sauce. Celebrated my cousin's birthday here this weekend. It was absolutely astonishing. How delicious and thoughtful each item was. We enjoyed a few things, including chicken, piccata, the steak, and their Apertivo box. It gave us all a chance to try new things that we've never had per se. The focaccia that came with it was amazing as well as the pickled veg And candied nuts. I'm not a big drinker, but I thoroughly enjoy their Spritz and the Bellini. They also have the best Negroni my family had ever tasted. We picked upstairs to take a look at the second floor, and they had a really gorgeous lounge area, seasonally opened and named the Limoncello Lounge. Came here on a Friday night and the outside was fairly packed. The inside of the restaurant has a modern deco appearance with cool velvet couches. Appetizer: $16 eggplant parm. It was an interesting twist on eggplant parm, the topping on top was a mix of cilantro, garlic, as well as other ingredients. Not what you expect on eggplant parm, wish they had written that on the menu. Entrees: Spicy lamb ragu: the pasta in this is homemade and it tastes homemade. The mint in this is overpowering. I get that lamb is paired with mint, but in this case it is just too much. Basil would have been better. For $28, the lamb in the dish was minuscule and I had to spit out a few pieces because of the chewy fatty pieces. Hand cut fettuccine: pasta was similar to the spicy ragu. It was a $26 dish and you can add a protein. They don't write on the menu how much the addition of protein is. But we added the breaded chicken. The chicken was crunchy, but could have used a few less minutes cooking since it was a bit tough. I'm assuming the addition of breaded chicken was $13 since there was no breakdown on the bill, making the dish $38. Dessert: again not listed on the menu but they have 3 options, we got the chocolate chip cookies with hazelnut gelato. Warm and gooey cookies. Service: our waitress was great, she checked on us frequently and had recommendations. The food came out in a reasonable fashion. We also ate early for a Friday. Great spot for a happy hour! They also have a huge outdoor patio space so it's great for a big group of people as well. My group and I ordered a bunch of spritz's and a Bellini which were amazing. I also ordered a margarita off the regular drink menu but it came in a Bellini glass so it felt a bit on the stronger side so I would stick to their happy hour menu for next time. Lulla was a random Yelp suggestion and a decent restaurant. Located in the lobby of a hotel and was dimly lit for atmosphere but mostly just made the place feel dark. We ordered an eggplant parmesan, the vodka pasta, and a burger. - The eggplant parmesan was nothing to write home about, very standard and tasty. - The pasta's sauce was very flavorful but the pasta itself seemed like it could've been cooked a bit longer it was not quite al dente. - The burger was also pretty standard, the grilled onions were good. read more
