After several visits in the last year, Becco is my go-to Italian restaurant on theater row, with great food and service. One of my friends came to visit and she suggested we go to this place and let me tell you / What an amazing experience from the moment you walk in the door , we had a reservation and were seated right there way . The food is spectacular, I had the salmon and cauliflower , and I also had their cheesecake that was very good . We have been dining at Becco for nearly 30 years, ever since Lidia Bastianich began her PBS cooking show in 1998. Over the years, Becco has become one of our absolute favorite restaurants in New York City, especially before or after seeing a Broadway show. We've had the pleasure of getting to know Executive Chef Billy Gallagher and his wonderful daughter, Catherine, over the years. Their passion for hospitality and commitment to excellence are reflected in every visit. Highly Recommended by my daughter, we had reservations for three to dine pre-theatre. Upon arriving, we were seated within minutes. The restaurant is much larger than it appears. I saw at least four dining areas, and we were seated on the second floor. Tables are closely packed together, but somehow it works. Wait staff are wonderful and quick to ensure you arrive to your show on time. Cocktails came out quickly. Dining here was like watching a synchronized team, taking your orders and delivering your food in fluid movements, but not feeling rushed. I ordered three pastas with a huge delicious Caesar Salad. The other appetizer was a veggie tray. It was all you can eat pasta, but the portions are so generous that I can't imagine who would ask for seconds. My three pastas (they change daily), were mushroom ravioli, a fresh spaghetti like pasta with pesto and pasta with shrimp in vodka sauce. Waiters cakes around with trays of the pasta, filling my dish with one of the three at a time. All were incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. Very reasonably priced as well. We saved no room for dessert, but looking at other tables, they looked fantastic. I highly recommend Becco, and strongly advise reservations. read more

I love the pasta experience! Our group was looking for dinner before a show, and they were able to accommodate all of us with a fairly short wait. (There really isn't a waiting area separate from the bar and small tables in the back, and many parties were crammed into that space while waiting for their tables.) After they had a table read for us, we went to the upstairs area to and looked over the menu options. I decided to start with the antipasto misto before the pastas, and I really enjoyed the variety of vegetables and seafood starters. (The rest of the table got the Caesar salad and loved it.) Afterward, all three pastas of the day arrived in a rotation, and it was nice to get a little taste of everything. The favorite of the table was the creamy pesto, although I could have eaten a whole bowlful of the rich mushroom ravioli. I wish we could have had a more leisurely meal before our show, because I really wanted to savor those pastas for as long as I could! Although the upstairs room was extremely noisy--even with the sound-dampening panels on the walls--we still enjoyed our time there. Becco is a staple for me every time I am in New York. I have not tried something I don't like. The service is top notch, the food you might wonder if you have died and gone to heaven. I highly recommend a reservation especially if you are going to a show afterwards. It's a pretty big place but everytime I have been there's a lot of people. I recommend anyone I know who is traveling to NYC to go to Becco. For the level of dining you will have there prices are more than fair. Coming from Miami most dinners at a good restaurant will cost you the same, but the flavors are so much better! I would love to see that lasagna on their regular menu because it was the best I've ever had. read more

I've been to Becco many times over the years, so I usually walk in expecting a great experience. This visit felt a little different. When my sister and I arrived, there were a few hostesses at the front, and the first one we spoke to didn't seem very friendly. She looked preoccupied and not very welcoming. Another hostess then took over and started leading us upstairs, but I let her know right away that we couldn't sit there because of knee issues. She moved us without any problem, and the rest of the staff was kind. The part that disappointed me was the unlimited pasta trio. It's always been my favorite, but this time I sat with an empty plate for long stretches, waiting to ask for more. They were very busy, and I understand that, but it did take away from the experience. The food was still delicious, and the prices are great for the area. I'm hoping this was just an off night because I've had so many good meals here in the past. read more

I've been to Becco a few times at this point and have overall had a pleasurable experience! If you like your pasta Al dente then I would recommend - I have found that it's always on the firmer side. They serve the bread, salad/fish course, and the 3 pastas in a very timely fashion, which I always appreciate. Definitely a nice atmosphere/lighting in the restaurant as well. Came on new years eve with some friends to have a warm and cozy dinner - this place accommodates large parties which this place is great for btw they do a solid all you can eat pasta deal where they start you with a ceasar salad then give u 3 pastas unlimited. ours was a spaghetti red sauce, mushroom ravoli, and a meat orecchiete (my favorite). also forgot to mention they start you with olives and complimentary bread so a very carb heavy dinner portions are huge i probably had 1.5 plates of pasta but they just come around and are ready to serve you its super quick and an about $35 meal. the pasta is super solid but nothing life changing/something you can def make at home but i def recommend and would return!! read more

Here it is folks, review number 1800. Twelve years, and close to a winter solstice with only eleven days to spare in 2025, and I have hit the mark by going to one of New York's premiere Italian restaurants, which came close to not happening. When you serve an unlimited three pasta medley at $36, smack dab in the middle of Midtown's Theater District, during the Christmas season, you are bound to draw a crowd. Heck, after I was sent to the bar (I will take it here), throngs of customers were making their way here. Most of them either just got out of a Broadway show, or just about to see one. About the food... The pasta is delicious, my delicate trio being a pumpkin squash ravioli, a tagliatelle diavolo, and a spaghetti with clams. With various flavors on the dish, it is best to let each of them settle a little so it can create a special texture and taste. I am not a fan of sweet ravioli, but mixing it up with the other two pastas offset the heartiness of the squash and pumpkin. Had I not went to the Carnegie Diner earlier, I most certainly would have had a second helping, but I had to pass. The other two pastas have nice, easy sauces (the Diavola sauce has plenty of kick but not overpowering), but what really helped set the pasta up nicely was the fresh antipasti that comes with it before the pasta is rolled out. A cool octopus, some light beans and carrots, it is an easy way to let your stomach digest the pasta without all the stomach issues. This is how you prepare your body before a massive meal. Introduce it slowly with light items before bringing on the heavy hitters. Did I mention you get some crusty bread before it all begins? You do! Except be careful because some of the purée it comes with has onions in it. In fact, so did the antipasti, but they did it so well that I had minimal stomach issues well after I had this meal. While I would love to come back here for another pasta dish, and get some seconds for good measure, I will wait to let my stomach resettle before launching into some more. That way I can fully immerse myself into the pasta rather than spend hours on the toilet. It may not be the review I was thinking to write, but it is the one I surely needed. Went here before a ahow with the fam and loved it. We all had pasta trio which is a great deal, especially for a bug eater because they keep bringing it out. Ours was a spinach ravioli, orecchiette, and spaghetti. All pasta was fantastic, perfectly cooked with flavorful sauce. Impressed given the scale they serve. Also had a ceasar which was good but a lil too saucy and I may not get again. My daughter had mixed pickled vegetables and it looked great. Cant wait to return read more

I had a disappointing experience at Becco Italian Restaurant in NYC. The staff came across as unfriendly and impatient, and seemed uninterested in us as guests. Communication was also difficult; several team members didn't speak enough English to be clearly understood. Drinks and food: I ordered a Paper Plane cocktail, but what arrived wasn't a proper Paper Plane. It missed the balance and signature taste you'd expect from that drink. The food, unfortunately, wasn't great either; nothing stood out as memorable or well-executed. Value and overall impression: Given the service issues, the off-target cocktail, and the underwhelming food, the meal didn't feel like good value for the money. So this restaurant is right by the theater district and they ask if you have a show to make sure they get you out in time I'm assuming which is nice. I couldn't get a reservation at one of the large commercial Italian more well known spots so we tried a smaller place, this place had plenty of spots open. The Italian bread they bring out is really good, Our waiter was nice refilled our water and brought out our strong and delicious espresso martinis quite fast! I was here for dinner on a Thursday night with a couple of my coworkers and it's a great spot with homey, cozy vibes! The menu is simple but the food is delicious! You HAVE to go for the triple pasta or the lasagna and a bottle of wine! We were planning to go to a Broadway show afterwards so our waiter got our food out quickly and had us ready to go with enough time for us to catch our show. It's a bigger space than it looks from outside and there's extra seating on the second floor but I'd still recommend making reservations because it's a popular spot so can be pretty packed usually. Incredible food! We visited Becco before we went to Wicked on the recommendation of a family friend. We were served bread with olives and oil, and caesar salad before our Osso Buco Alla Becco and Sifonia di Paste. I had no idea what I was in for when I ordered the Sinfonia di Paste... these three pastas were hearty and delicious. My senses were highly satisfied with the pleasant aromas of Italian spices and warm bread, and visually magnificent dishes. It was a spectacle to watch the servers make their rounds through the intimate space with large trays of mouth-watering pastas. Left this experience very disappointed, had higher expectations for New York City. From the minute we arrived, we found none of the staff friendly. We had requested to move our table from the top of the stairs in the main line of traffic and the staff did not respond warmly. Not only did we have long weights in between service, but everything we received was subpar. I ordered a paper plane off their specialty cocktail menu which only had a handful of drinks. This didn't taste anything like a paper plane so I'm not sure how they could label it a signature Cocktail. I needed to return it for a glass of wine. The food had so many different limitations on it. You actually cannot order pasta separately without getting their three frying pan full meal deal. Nothing about our experience was authentic. The staff understandably want to get home, but that means that they won't seat you in the nicer upstairs room and the cleanup begins to happen around you. Also staff gets to chatting among themselves as the restaurant empties out - and as a result our waitress forgot our drink order, which didn't arrive until after salads. Just not relaxing or enjoyable when it feels like the staff can't wait for you to leave. I sill love Becco - just don't go anywhere near closing. read more

We dine at Becco every time we're in Manhattan! The meal starts off with warm bread, olive oil dip and olives - they're all wonderful. Then we both decided on the daily three pasta special with a Caesar salad. The three pastas and sauces were very different from one another and all we're absolutely delicious! We had a great experience dining here. Their main selling bundle, Pasta di Simphonia, provides a great starter and pasta dishes were one was okayish but the other, for example, was really good. The great thing is that we had a lot of refills of the one we really enjoyed, as the concept is that you can have it in unlimited portions, and they always come and serve you freshly made and hot, right from the dish. The service was great - really friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. The ambience also provides a great mood, and the restaurant, with its interior, has a great energy. We were so excited to enjoy Becco for Thanksgiving. I grew up watching Lidia sharing her family's dishes. We arrived early for our 5 pm reservations and we watched the whole restaurant come to life in front of our eyes. We were walked past the bar & three bathrooms to the back room for our table. There was a foul smell coming from a drain - quite an unpleasant start to the evening. We were not told upon making our reservation that as a party of 6 we would be forced to eat family style instead of choosing our respective dishes. Food allergies were shared and ignored by the staff. Staff seemed disinterested in refilling drinks. The food was okay. Something in the antipasti course made my aunt ill. After the second course sides arrived with almonds all over the green beans, my 12 year old stopped eating. We had to ask for small plates so we could take servings of dessert instead of everyone eating off of the same shared plate. Once we finished our meal, we asked for and filled FOUR takeaway boxes to feed homeless people instead of the remainder of the uneaten & untouched food going to waste. read more

I would like to start off by saying that me, my girlfriend and extended family have been repeat customers at Becco's over the years and had always thoroughly enjoyed our time dining there. Unfortunately tonight was an entirely different experience, one that left me very disappointed, frustrated and sad. Although everyone from the host, food runners, and manager have been gracious, our waitress was dismissive, cold and rude. Our waitress, a young curly red haired blonde woman, greeted us and took the order, saying that she'd be back with water shortly after. Twenty minutes have passed since then and after eating our salads, we still didn't receive any beverages. Throughout that time, the restaurant wasn't busy, nor packed. There were only a few tables eating. We glanced and saw our waitress relaxing at the bar making small talk often. It was only then by chance when she came to clear our salad plates that she admitted she forgot to provide water and apologized. We understood, smiled and said it wasn't a problem. Our pasta arrived and we continued to enjoy the meal. Over time, my girlfriend and I noticed that our waitress was actively ignoring us and didn't once check in to see how we were doing. We looked around discreetly and saw she was being very attentive towards other tables except ours. I tried to make friendly eye contact with her, but she wouldn't come near my girlfriend and I. We honestly felt bad and didn't understand why. I managed to politely ask our waitress for more water and as she came to pour some, she missed and spilled a large amount on the table. The spilling even ricocheted and landed in my food, causing it to be watery. What made it unbearable was that afterwards, she proceeded to cuss at us and scurried away with a condescending look on her face. I didn't appreciate the profanity comment she made as it wasn't professional and awkward. Not a genuine apology or any kind of sympathy to rectify the situation. Meanwhile my girlfriend and I are sitting speechless as I'm irritably looking into my puddle of food. I sat there so boggled wondering what drove her to be disrespectful. As someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, I personally know and empathize how difficult it is to work in FOH positions. I always make it a habit of saying please and thank you and doing my best to show genuine appreciation when dining out. However this experience has left me frustrated and regrettably bitter. Thankfully, the manager was absolutely supportive, kind and understanding, going so far as to comp a portion of our meal. I told the manager in confidence that I was apologetic, even so far as embarrassed for bringing up the situation but it really made my girlfriend and I uncomfortable. The manager kindly offered to bring us a fresh plate but I lost my appetite and just wanted to pay. What made this whole fiasco horrible was that my girlfriend and I simply wanted to celebrate our anniversary at one of our favorite restaurants in NYC. An unprofessional employee had the audacity to not take accountability for their mistakes or make efforts to genuinely remedy the problem. I am one to give benefit of the doubt, but from start to finish, this waitress seemingly dismissed us and chose not to provide any sort of decent service. As I was paying the bill, my girlfriend even spotted our waitress giving us a dirty glare as if she didn't do anything wrong. She even made emphatic gestures towards us that were highly inappropriate. To this day, we've never felt so unwelcome and wanted to leave immediately. I implore management to train your staff better. To say Becco's is no longer one of our favorite restaurants is an understatement. I will never be coming back or supporting this business anymore. read more

It is very clear after eating here why Becco is considered a staple for people going to Broadway shows. The wait staff is very mindful of timing of meals as well as getting you to your show on time so will ask once you're seated which theater and which showtime you have booked. We did the pasta trio with unlimited pasta - the price was very reasonable especially for the location in NYC. There was definitely a stand out pasta our night (pumpkin ravioli!) but the other 2 were fine. The only downside is the busy, cramped and at times chaotic atmosphere. While the staff is trying to ensure everyone gets to their show, there were also moments of chaos and I ended up getting a little pasta sauce splashed on me on a few occasions because the waiter was rushing to serve everyone while leaning over my shoulder. Overall, not upset at all by visiting this NY staple and can see why they continue to have so many loyal fans. read more
