The restaurant is very lovely. Dimly lit, comfortable and romantic. Excellent and attentive service. It's narrow yet long. We were seated in the very far back area with a beautiful glass ceiling. It was a bit cold though. The food was good. I thought the calamari was really good, very tender and not overly seasoned or salty. The homemade ravioli special was very light and fresh. The cheeses were also extremely fresh and delicious. Make a reservation because by 6pm on a Saturday it was already jam packed!

Modern Museum of Art and need some lunch, head out the door across the street to a peaceful retreat of M&V. They have a lovely garden, inside seating or outside to people watch. Lunch was grilled zucchini and the most delicious arancini I have ever had- hot, creamy, flavorful- rice cooked well, almost risotto-like. We followed this with a prosciutto eggplant and ricotta panini (huge) greens - simple with O&V. I enjoyed 3 choices meat or cheese- 2 meat and 1 cheese. All were fabulously paired with prosecco, then a Sangiovese - blend (recommended). Topped off with espresso and house biscotti- Now off to Van Gogh!

Super attentive, friendly staff! PROS: The food is amazing. Everything tasted so fresh. The staff was very polite and friendly. Honestly, their attitude really made the whole experience. CONS: Zero. OVERALL: Great little Italian place near the Museum of Modern Art. You should make a reservation and have a great Italian dinner there.

We stumbled across this place and had a FANTASTIC lunch here. Great service throughout our time, tasty complimentary bread, and some nice complimentary biscotti at the end. But the real reason for the stars? THE FOOD WAS AMAZING. I ordered the lasagna, and was wowed. It's vegetarian and is mushroom based. The pasta sheets seemed to be a darker wheat and was perfect. It was both light enough for lunch and totally satisfying. Everything was the right texture and the tomato sauce was great. My husband got the ravioli special of the day, and while it was a semi-small serving, he loved it. Great flavors and textures throughout. We were still a bit hungry and decided to tack on the cheese plate featuring bufala, burrata, and smoked bufala. Each cheese was so distinct, the tomatoes were sweet and firm, and the basil was incredibly fragrant. This dish is a must here! Next time we're in New York, we'll come back and try something else!

Had a good experience here though nothing too special. BF and I shared: + citrus and avocado salad + meat and cheese platter + ravioli of the day + braised lamb and mashed potatoes + dark chocolate almond cake + mascarpone "tiramisu" style The salad was great. Charcuterie (you can customize it) and chocolate cake were the standouts. Prosciutto was probably the best I've had outside of Italy. The ravioli had a nice texture but the sauce, filling and flavor were a little watery. The lamb was decent. Didn't care for the tiramisu - it was kind of bland. 3.5 stars overall because some dishes fell flat but the others were quite tasty. Excellent service and lovely ambience.

I love the atmosphere and how it is feels so warm and inviting at the entry. The garden is gorgeous (there was a private event when we were attending) but even the tables inside make it feel authentic but classy. My daughter got the ravioli and loved it, I ordered the mozzarella prosciutto rolls and it was absolutely delicious and plenty for lunch. It is a little on the expensive side but the food is authentic so it makes up for it. Definitely a must try!

We explored this Italian space and appreciated the quiet in the heart of midtown for dinner. Don't come here if you are looking for a bar scene. We enjoyed some classic Sicilian dishes like caponata and wine. We also tried the mozzarella and prosciutto. We shared some good pasta and caught up on our lives. I did feel the wine was at a premium but the waiter was kind with the pours. I wondered if that was part of the trick or if they seriously want to charge those amounts for 4oz and 6oz. glasses. I understand specialty wines have a premium but not every wine. Worth a visit for a quiet time after the museum or work.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. I always like to try new restaurants whenever I'm in the city and this was amazing. The service was quick and friendly. We had reservations and got in right away. The food was exceptional. We got the pick 4 cheese and meat platter. So delicious. The prosciutto and buffalo ricotta were the best. We love how the cheese had honey drizzled on it. Then for dinner I got the fettuccine alla bolognese and was quite impressed. The portions weren't huge but they were just right, definitely no leftovers with what we got. We were too stuffed for dessert, but they gave us complimentary biscotti. I felt very compelled to write this review because we sat next to the rudest 20-something year old couple. They acted like such food snobs and were very demanding of the wait staff (I can't stand people like that), when in reality they didn't even know what any of the food was. They seriously asked why "bologna" was on pasta and a series of idiotic questions. Even going so far as to complain that the platter and breadsticks they got "weren't enough." Seriously? How many breadsticks do you need? You haven't even eaten your meals yet? The staff didn't deserve that at all. This place is amazing and very worth it to come to dinner for!

I was soooo hungry after the museum visit and bordering on mental collapse. Just then the GF turns to me and says, "Hey, there's an Italian joint across the street. Care to go there?" Blind with hunger I stumbled into this phenomenal little gem. It was late--well past lunchtime and only a few lingering couples remained from what was evidently a bustling lunch rush -- and we were escorted to a table immediately. Wow, what an experience. Great food and a formidable wine list. In no time flat the friendly staff had revived me and saved me from what would have been a terrible hangry outburst on the steps of the museum.

Tourist-trap! The wine: pre-poured into glasses at the counter, we order Pinot Grigio and got something sweet American-style with an awfully yellow colour. The mozzarella: good! Nothing exeptional. Same for the cheese & charc. Service: good! Nothing special.

33 West 54th Street New York, New York Cozy. Polished. Located right across from the Museum of Modern Art, Mozzarella and Vino was a very welcome respite. Walk down a couple of stairs into an upscale, dimly lit, long room of dark wood, mirrors and wine glasses. Excellent/informed and knowledgeable wait staff-Ikola originally from Serbia was a gem. His recommendations were exactly what we needed after a few hours of walking. We had everything he recommended- a delicious bottle of Villa Antinori accompanied by ricotta drizzled with honey, pecorino cheese, prosciutto and bresaola. Pasta fit the bill today and we loved the lasagne layered with ricotta, mozzarella, pork sausage and mushrooms. The special was fresh made ravioli filled with spinach, chicken and burrata. Yum. A light seafood salad and a slice of tiramisu rounded out the meal. Reasonably priced, comfortable and excellent service. Divine way to spend a couple of relaxed hours enjoying your company and food. Delicious.

My husband and I sat outside to enjoy a simple light lunch. I ordered a cheese/meat board him a burger. Honestly the food was tasty. The cheeses!! However we waited quite a long time considering what we ordered. I must say walking through the restaurant the rest of the menu looked great. The service was slow which was odd for NYC. But I'm not sure if they were trying to get the feel of a true Italian dinning experience. If I could I would have given 3.5 but the food held it enough for 4. A side note it's directly across from the Museum of Modern Art. So if you are looking for meal after a visit it's worth a try.

Ask the Community - Mozzarella & Vino

Is it easy to get in on a week night (Thursday) for two people without a reservation? Or, better to reserve? We're happy sitting at the bar or at a table.

It probably depends on the time and luck of the draw. We had reservations for four but came an hour early with no problem. I'd recommend reservations though.

Is this a nice place for a happy hour glass of wine before heading to dinner?

Yes, but you will probably stay for dinner. And dessert. And coffee. And more drinks.

Is this a nice atmosphere for dinner?

Yes. Nice jazz music. Intimate setting. Good for conversation.

As I walked in and saw just how swanky this place is I panicked - there was no way we could just walk in here without a reservation, right? But the hostess was, thankfully, so down to earth. I was straight up like hey I totally messed up and thought we could just walk in here, she was like you know what, let me see what we have. Lo and behold, she did have a table for us - as long as we were out in an hour and a half, which was just the right amount of time. Stepping into this place feels like you're in some secret, super special cocktail club. Decor is super high end, vibes are upscale AF. The cocktail menu is incredible -- and incredibly pricey, but truly worth it. I ordered the Valentino which was strong and sweet, really well made. They gave out a complimentary nut mix that was also delicious. Service was swift and gracious. If you're looking for a spot to impress a date, this is it.

There's also seating on the second floor, perfect for couples or small groups. I tried two of their cocktails when I went. The first was the Eastern Julep, a delicious twist on a classic. The mint Moroccan tea gave the drink a cool, refreshing taste on every sip. I also tried the Silver Screen, the closest drink I could find to an old fashioned. It was interesting, there was definitely a hint of a buttery taste. Overall a really balanced bourbon drink. I walked in and found room at the standing tables. A bar seat eventually opened up but I was already on my second drink by then. Definitely make reservations if you're planning a visit!

The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. The service was excellent from the servers and the bartenders, and they were all very attentive, personable and friendly throughout the evening. I'll definitely be back for happy hour or dinner with friends!

We had a nice table tucked in to a corner where we had a view of the kitchen and could sit next to each other on the bench seat. Our primary server, Luis, was helpful and lovely. I was impressed with the way the whole staff seemed to work together to serve, bus tables, ask if we needed anything and talk with us. I really have to say the service was superb. Shoutout to Chris who not only tended bar but worked the floor and to the lovely hostess whose name I wish I had gotten. But really the whole staff was just A+++. We shared the crispy artichokes (outstanding) and the cacio e Pepe arancini (where the fried parsley was especially unique and delicious) to start. I had the eggplant parmesan which reminded me of an eggplant dish I had in Venice -- but better. My husband had the ricotta cavatelli which was also great. For dessert I had the olive oil cake accompanied by lemon curd and --wait for it -- rosemary gelato. I was skeptical about this gelato, but it turned out to be a wonderfully fantastic surprise! My husband had the Apple Crostata which was also fantastic. The limoncello was a perfect way to end the meal. I was told by my husband that I can't shave off a star for Chef Tom not being there himself. So, I won't. Fair enough. But I'm still hoping I catch him another time.
