    Rum baba and pistachio tart
    Sarabeth R.

If I lived in New York City, I would be going to this place at least once a week. It's a very cute little restaurant and their pasta dishes are some of the best in the city. I love their burrata appetizer to start. Some of the stand-out pastas are mushroom with prosciutto; lemon: and tube pasta with pistachio cream sauce. Just heavenly! Service is friendly and attentive. I do have to say the back room, when it's totally crowded is very, very noisy, so I personally stay away from that. Other than that, everything else is perfect

I have been wanting to try Il Corso for a while and I'm glad I did! It was very good. We started out with the Fritto Misto - fried calamari, shrimp & zucchini, with a spicy tomato sauce. It was fresh and crispy and light. I then had the special Pasta Genovese. It is a slow-cooked, rich sauce made with a large quantity of onions and beef served over ziti. It was delicious. It was a dish worth coming back for!! I will be back.

We really liked this cozy and lively place. We made reservations and had to wait a few minutes past it, which is only tricky when it's cold because there's no place to really stand inside to wait. Once seated the service was really good (though we wish there was some bread!). Our appetizer was very good (it needed that lemon squeeze or salt for flavor brightness). We all really liked our entrees (not pictured is the lasagna). The bolognese is very meaty (if you're into that). I loved the dessert menu because it offered more than the traditional tiramisu or creme brûlée (both available) and included toasted panattone with marcapone and rum baba. We chose the rum baba - such a treat but we did wish it had whipped cream to cut the rum a tiny bit. Such a fun dessert though. I've already recommended this place to folks. I'd definitely be back.

Traditional Italian restaurant. Food is solidly good. Venue comfortable and service is prompt and courteous.

I love pasta, so having an Italian meal was a must for me in NYC. I found Il Corso on Yelp and made a reservation on OpenTable for lunch. It wasn't busy when I stopped by on a weekday. It's a small restaurant, but there's additional seating in the back. I couldn't decide between the Tagliolini al Limone (lemon pasta; $15 for a half portion) and Fettucine con Funghi e Prosciutto ($16.50 for a half portion), so I treated myself and got half orders of both! As noted on their menu, there is a 10% upcharge for split dishes and half orders. Food was prepared quickly. I was brought my dish within 10 minutes of ordering. I was surprised (and also saddened because I love my carbs) that there was no complimentary bread service. When my pasta was served, they brought Parmesan and cracked black pepper to top it off with (yes, please!). My pasta dishes were delicious, but portions were teeny tiny (like 3-5 bites, depending on how ladylike you want to be). I know these were half portions, but even so, you can get an idea of what the regular portion sizes would be. I probably should've ordered a third half order to be fully satiated. I suppose the pasta dishes are meant to be a side/course and not the main entree. I enjoyed the lemon pasta, which is also topped with breadcrumbs to give it extra texture. The lemon flavor was light and subtle; I like a bit more zing to really taste the lemon. I loved the Funghi pasta. It had an earthy flavor from the mushrooms and came in a rich truffle cream sauce. However, I'm not sure if the prosciutto was extra skimpy because I ordered the half portion, or if that's just how it comes. Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente. Since I was a in "treat yourself" mood (and was still hungry from the itty bitty portions), I decided to order dessert. Instead of a dessert menu, they present you with a dessert tray to order from. I ordered the chocolate chip cannolis ($14) which came with two pieces. I'm a chocolate chip fiend, so I was hoping for a cannoli overflowing with chocolate chips on both ends, but sadly, this was not the case... there was a below average amount of chocolate chips in the filling. The shell was nice and crispy, but the filling was quite sweet for my tastes. Service was adequate, but intermittent. Different staff members did a good job of refilling my water throughout the meal, however, I was never checked on after being served my entree. After my plates were cleared, there was definitely a lull in service by the waiter. As an Italian spot, perhaps they were taking a more European restaurant service approach? Either way, I would still come back to Il Corso for the pasta... I'll just have to order the full portions next time :).

This restaurant had a cozy warm ambience. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. I ordered the mushroom and prosciutto pasta and it had fresh rosemary with a beautiful presentation and flavor. Will definitely stopping in again when I'm in midtown.

Paccheri con Crema di Pistacchio e Salsiccia
    Rob M.

Excellent cozy Italian restaurant. The food is fantastic. In particular, the Paccheri con Crema di Pistacchio e Salsiccia is one of my favorite pastas in the city. It is sweet, creamy, and decadently rich. It's a must order for me. In truth, I found myself distracted multiple times by how good the food smelled as the servers carried it past me to other tables. Still, I was thrilled with my Paccheri. I was practically drooling when it touched down on the table. But I can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu. The service is good--charming and helpful if a bit slow at points. And the decor is simple and classic. It doesn't over do it, but the vibe is warm with white tablecloths and candles. (I think we can all agree that real candles are infinitely better than fakes).

This was a quick pre-theatre meal we grabbed. The pasta I had (Paccheri, a tube pasta with sweet sausage, mascarpone & pistachio cream) was one of the best pasta I have ever eaten.

One of the better pastas I have had in the city. The pistachio based pasta I had was so tasty, as were the others I got to try from friends. Server was so nice. Definitely a little busy inside but was not an issue for us. Would for sure go back

    Lasagne all'Emiliana

The environment made me feel like I was in real Italian neighborhood. The pasta came in vvvvery generous portions... I did just a half order for the pistachio pasta. The service was pretty nice, there was a misunderstanding about my order and they re-made my dish very quickly. I love the flavor of pistachio, it was fragrant :3

Honestly phenomenal atmosphere and service. The food was delicious and each entree had its own staple. The pomadoro sauce took the cake and the pistachio tart.

Fettuccine con funghi prosciutto and Pacherri con cream di pistachio
    Brandon Y.

We ordered some takeout pasta from them and even after an hour heading back home, they were still delicious (heated up ofc). We had the fettuccine in truffle and mushroom cream sauce as well as the paccheri with sausage and pistachio cream and both of the noodles and sauces went wonderfully together. It had the perfect amount of bite to it and the right consistency for the sauce. I just kinda wish that the portions were a bit bigger for what they were. Overall, still very good though!

Stepping into this place feels like you're in some secret, super special cocktail club. Decor is super high end, vibes are upscale AF. The cocktail menu is incredible -- and incredibly pricey, but truly worth it. I ordered the Valentino which was strong and sweet, really well made. The mint Moroccan tea gave the drink a cool, refreshing taste on every sip. I also tried the Silver Screen, the closest drink I could find to an old fashioned. It was interesting, there was definitely a hint of a buttery taste. Overall a really balanced bourbon drink. I walked in and found room at the standing tables. The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. It's a small area with the tables pretty close together. We were given a table in the far corner, which was perfect for comfort and looking out at the restaurant. Two of us each ordered a glass of house wine, which were "ok." We opted for the Boqueria Experience, which is $65 per person and includes a variety of chef-selected tapas, a paella and an order of the restaurant's special JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA, which is described on the charcuterie menu as aged 48 months, with deep marbling, rich and nutty flavor. We enjoyed most of the tapas, including the potatoes, the beef/lamb balls, the salad and bruschetta. The croquettes were "ok" with the heavy aeoli masking some of the flavor. The seafood paella was good and was different from ones I've had in the past, with the caramelized layer on the bottom. Yum. Honestly, none of us was a big fan of the Jamon Iberico de Bellota. I'm sure it's special and luxurious, but we found it not to have much flavor. Frankly, it was a big disappointment for us. The service was beyond excellent. We were very pleased with the timing of the presentation of the meal, the superb water service and the general enthusiasm and pleasantness of the Staff. We will come back and try different items on the ala carte menu. I thought there would be more seafood and meat tapas offerings in the "Experience". Instead, it was a lot of cheese, vegetables, dates and bread. Although $65 per person likely was a good value for what we got, I think the tapas items were heavy on the lower cost tapas and that it wasn't a true top-of-the-line "Experience". A seafood dish or even a chicken dish (chicken wings) instead of one of the two croquette offerings would have helped.

She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience.
