Still cozy. Our server, Leonardo, was accommodating and friendly. Wine was good, food was great and came out at the right time. The table-side de-boning of the branzino was done flawlessly and both the branzino (big branzino) and the halibut were great. The complimentary basket of bread (OK... two complimentary baskets of bread) had some amazing breads (3 or 4 different kinds). Came for their Sunday brunch, all the options looked excellent but we settled on the spaghetti carbonara and the omelette which was recommended by our waiter. All the food was excellent but I have slight regrets about not choosing 2 spaghetti dishes, cause the texture of the pasta was amazing. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Found this place because it had some relation to Michelin stars but I don't remember how. I made a reservation but honestly didn't need one as there were still plenty of seats. We sat outside and it was quite nice! Started off with some bread appetizers with olive oil. We were also treated with a complimentary appetizer which I believe were some sort of rice balls. Meal was off to a great start. I ordered the pan-seared venison loin and it was PHENOMENIAL! The meat was so tender and the juices were amazing. The sauce had such distinct and complimentary flavours that I was honestly baffled at how good it was. The timballo was also so tasty - but definitely could taste more potato than anything which I liked. I was also able to try some of the pasta and it was so delicious! The pasta itself, the sauces, and the meats and veggies that came with the dishes were all cooked and seasoned so well. I ordered some of the Silene red wine to go with my food and it was very tasty alongside the meal, so wine is definitely a plus with the experience. Overall, I had a great time and the food was amazing. The head of the restaurant sometimes comes by to talk to us so got to learn a bit more about Italian culture which I liked. It's a very nice environment but definitely dress nicely. Bathroom is nice too. Food is expensive but I think you should expect that when coming here. One of my favorite restaurants in Midtown East, and a consistent favorite throughout the years. The place is simply classic, the ambience and service always nice, the food is always delicious, and a pretty sure bet for a good evening on a date night or an evening to entertain. While their specialties are are definitely more towards gluten full, they have great gluten-free options as well, and very tasty ones at that. I've thoroughly enjoyed both the risotto and pastas, and their meat mains are divine. A little bit on the pricey side, but a fantastic place for an occasional treat. I got to try out their recent outdoor dining set up in my most recent visit (August) and thought the tent was quite nice, though I admit before the pandemic, sitting outdoors was much more romantic without the tent, and made you feel like you were temporarily transported to Europe. But it was nice and I would definitely do it again. Look forward to our next visit to my favorite big cat restaurant. read more

Antipasti - Parmigiana of Zucchini. The zucchini was not fried but still mild-crispy. Loved the eclectic spices in the dish. The waiter took time to help us out with the menu on the Primi. We got the lobster ravioli and the Agnolotti Filled with Honey Squash and Bufala Ricotta. I wouldn't recommend the agnolotti if you don't like dish with a hint of sweetness. They have a creative setup with some of the tables located on charming terraced landings of the old-time building above the main restaurant. We sat at one of these tables tonight and had a bird's eye view from our higher vantage point. The remainder of the outdoor tables are nicely spaced out and in a well-designed covered area. If you want outdoor dining to feel special and not cobbled together due to necessity, this is your place! Our food was excellent. The only thing we couldn't try was the complimentary rice balls they offered, as our party did not include meat eaters. The pasta was homemade and delicious. The service was very good as well. The answer is no. Bland, unremarkble food. Tasteless mussells. A lobster salad that was huge chunks of lobster haphazardly thrown onto a mixed green salad heavily dressed in vinaigrette. A dry tasteless milanese. Lukewarm branzino. And an inedible pork chop, which we were asked to cut with a butter knife. An AWOL waiter who never appeared, never checked in, never asked if we wanted more drinks and who, on the few occaisions we saw him, always seemed to serving other tables and deliberately never making eye contact with us to at least acknowledge our entreaties. A friend recommended the restaurant to me last fall when I was in NYC- this spring I dined at IL Gattopardo , it was my pre theater dinner treat. The location on the street behind MOMA in an old Rockefeller home is picturesque. The garden level restaurant has options for dining, especially during warm weather : al fresco street level, an intimate bar area with tables for two, the main dining room and the rear hidden garden. There is also a large private dining room for events on the lower floor. Being solo I sat at the bar near the window. I enjoyed the music and ordered a glass of wine, bread and olive was provided and the arancini sent were a compliment of the chef. The heirloom tomato salad I ordered was a special of the day and from the menu I choose a broiled fish with accompanying sides. I no longer remember the type of fish - only that the entire meal and setting was charming . A cordial is my general rule after a delicious dinner out and the one I choose was wonderful ! So...this place is insanely nice and insanely expensive. I wasn't paying so whatever...free fancy meal for Jax! I came with a party of eight people for a Sunday evening dinner at 7:30. the restaurant is PACKED PACKED PACKED. I left at 11pm and it was still busy. The service was perfect, which is expected at a place like this. What was nice was when we ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table, the kitchen made everyone a little tasting plate of everything so that we didn't have to go around passing around the dishes. For my entree I had one of their specials that night, a veggie risotto, and it was excellent and a hefty portion. I was so full from the appetizers alone I only ate about half of my entree. The best appetizers were the burrata (arguably better than what I ate in Italy) and the zucchini parmesan was FANTASTIC. For dessert we had the cheesecake, the chocolate mousse, a special fruity dish the kitchen made for one of the gluten free folks, and a plate of biscotti. The decor is clean, bright and elegant, but nondescript. The service is impeccable and the food is heavenly. Every pasta I've had here is great. As well as the risotto. If you're lucky enough to come on a night when they are serving gnocchi, get it. These potato dumplings are like pillows of air. They are so light and delicious. If you get it in the sausage and truffle sauce you will be in ecstasy. The grilled Double-R Ranch Angus grass-fed ribeye for two, with roasted fingerling potatoes, is a dish seasoned to perfection. Tiramisu is a great dessert choice, but try the Bavarese alla vaniglia with chestnut heart, glazed with white chocolate. It's a ball of vanilla creamy custard with a chocolate topping and a heart of some flavor. If they offer the orange or fig Bavarese jump on it.
