Stopped by The Dickens to check out the atmosphere and how the gay vibe was. If I'm being honest, this bar feels more straight than gay lol. The restaurant itself is actually very nice, amazing lighting, well organized, and the decor is really interesting. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The drinks are pretty good. I prefer mine on the stronger side and the chicken quesadilla did the job.
We booked a drag brunch because why not while you are in NYC. We were there 15 mins early and the host sat us at the bar while they set up for the show. We got some non alcoholic mojitos to start the day. Once it was all set up the host brought us to our table. We got bingo cards and the show started. Jacklynn Hyde was very entertaining and the waiters were friendly and attentive. I order avocado toast which was decent. I would definitely come back just for drag bingo and a drink.
I stopped by for a drink before heading to a Broadway show, and my experience was just okay. The atmosphere was fun and had a great vibe, making it a nice place to grab a pre-show cocktail. I ordered an espresso martini, which was well made, mildly sweet, and enjoyable. However, I didn't taste much alcohol in it. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. The bartender came across as unfriendly. I had considered ordering another drink, but I didn't feel particularly welcome. I also noticed that he brought water to the customers next to me but not to me until I specifically asked for it. Overall, the drinks and atmosphere were good, but the lack of welcoming service made the experience disappointing.

Went for their martini bar and bottomless fries, this martini lounge is a little tight for big groups but I would still go back to enjoy their other martinis. Great music and nice staff! I made a little spill and they were super attentive and cleaned up the floor really fast.
Loved that they had happy hour at all the tables, not just the bar. Got the happy hour chicken tacos and Buffalo cauliflower. They were both tasty, but I actually ordered the cauliflower with the sweet chili. Was a little disappointed, but the flavor was pretty good.

The drag show adds a lively, joyful twist that keeps the whole place buzzing. Service is excellent across the board, warm and attentive, and the prices are surprisingly great for how much fun you get out of the night. A standout spot with character, energy, and real value.
This spot has 3 floors, including a martini bar and a rooftop. They have happy hour deals, drag bingo certain days and times too. I came for dinner and to try their four new fall cocktails listed below: Olive-R Twist Ginger Twinsies Thyme to Rum Scrooges Revival These 4 drinks screamed autumn and were all balanced, not too strong, and paired with the food. The Fajita Bites and Cauliflower Bites were addicting and the Big Dickens Burger was juicy and meaty. You can't go wrong with fries either! I can eat that tender Braised Beef Short Rib over and over again too. It fell apart nicely and paired great with the mashed potatoes. Service was amazing. The wait staff are all super kind and the place is very LGBTQ friendly!
Had an exceptional time at The Dickens. Heard good things and was in close proximity. It was late so I only had beverages. Went with the margarita from the third floor bar. Very tasty and well balanced. Hung out on the second floor for a while before returning to the first floor for more. Vibes were great. Music was popping. The staff were very fun and you can tell people like working here. Can't wait to come back.

I had booked this place because I heard they offer unique martinis and when you order a martini you get bottomless fries. However, that's only on the second floor. I didn't see anything when booking at the time of reservation that indicated there was a difference so we unfortunately didn't get to experience that. But the martinis we did have and small plates were delicious. Loved the vibe of the place. A queer bar hit the music was fantastic and our server was the best! It's right in Hells Kitchen near Times Square and open very late.
Honestly this salad was great. So great that the girl sitting next to me tapped my shoulder to ask what I ordered. While the ritz flavor didn't come through, the other flavors combine and compliment each other so well. I added chicken which was thin and juicy. Plus HH till 7! Can't be beat!

But the music was a good mix. Kind of a dark and smoky ambience (even though there was no smoke). We did have one drink before leaving and bar service was fine. There is an upstairs with seating. We'd come back here for a drink or three.
Came with some friends for drag bingo brunch and it was epic! The 90-minutes of bottomless brunch was delicious, with a very fast and attentive staff. I got to try a bunch of drinks and I think the one with gelato floating in the middle (mimosa) was favorite. Jacklynn Hyde was a great hostess with a lot of comedy to mix in between bingo calls and songs. After brunch, the rooftop opens up for even more daytime drinking. Pancakes: Pretty much a dessert with all the sweetness. Fluffy pancakes with ice cream on top and some cookie wafers. Home Fries: This was my choice for a side. Lots of flavor in the spices and the veggies mixed in. But the texture was a bit mushy for home fries.
The Dickens was such a fun find in Manhattan. The staff was amazing--super kind, welcoming, and genuinely funny, which made the whole experience even better. And honestly, who doesn't want fries with their martinis? The drinks were delicious and well made, and the vibe was impeccable. It's lively, fun, and has great music that really keeps the energy up. We had such a great time and will definitely be coming back every time we're in the city.

The Dickens is a great find especially in the theater district which can be overly touristy and expensive. The bar/restaurant has 4 floors including a roof deck, each with a different vibe. We made a reservation for the Martini bar on the 2nd floor. We were seated at a high top. The room had a speakeasy look and feel. The martini was great and you order it by selecting from the build your own martini menu. I went with Goose, extra dry, stirred, blue cheese stuffed olive. Oh, and it comes with delicious bottomless French fries! For dinner we ordered the skirt steak and since we had the bottomless fries with our martini the server offered us a swap since it came with fries. I chose the salad. We also ordered the shrimp risotto which was phenomenal. The shrimp were grilled and had a nice hint of smoky wood and the risotto was done with an amazing seafood broth. The steak was cooked to perfection and the salad was delicious and not a standard salad by a long shot. This place is not only a fantastic value with most dishes under $25 but the food and cocktails are top notch. Oh, and the service couldn't have been better. The location is also great if you are catching a show. After dinner we walked 1/2 a block to see Book of Mormon. This is a diamond in the rough in the theater district, or even if not in for a show it's worth the trip. read more
Drag bingo brunch at The Dickens is so much boozy fun! Two seatings at at 1pm & 3pm although the former is hard to get reservations for and the second, while easier to get spots, is a little late for food. Which is fine since the food menu was decent but nothing special. The bottomless booze however was a real delight. Not just mimosas but also bloody marys and a variety of spritzes. Friendly and attentive servers. It's boozy brunch and a show with plenty of laughs. Let's also not forget... bingo! Sunday Funday! Kudos to Jacklynn Hyde for the consecutive solo shows without missing a beat. Tremendous energy! read more

Never knew the dickens had so many rooms! Went for their martini bar and bottomless fries, this martini lounge is a little tight for big groups but I would still go back to enjoy their other martinis. Great music and nice staff! I made a little spill and they were super attentive and cleaned up the floor really fast. read more

Overall rating: 4.6 Came here on a date for drag bingo. The show is sooo good. Extremely entertaining and wow, I've never seen so many bridal showers and birthdays! It was pretty funny that I chose this as a first date & highly recommend. The food was alright, nothing special. But the drinks were flowwinggg in the best way. I definitely recommend coming with a group of people and enjoy the performance. BRING ONES. TIP, TIP, TIP. Do not come on an empty stomach. Would have rather just to order an appetizer, then drinks. read more

The Dickens "Martini Experience " on the second (of four) floor was a pleasure. The Porn Star Martini delighted, although it was a bit embarrassing ordering 'out loud.' Alternatively, patrons can choose to build their martini. Since each martini order comes with complimentary bottomless frites, I enjoyed my snack alongside my 2nd martini featuring Prosecco, vanilla and peach liquor. For $19.95, patrons can add dinner. Either a half roast chicken or sliced skirt steak. I'll be back! read more

I owe this place a big thanks for helping me figure out what kind of martini I like! Multi-level bar that has a different vibe/special happening on every floor. Highly recommend going to the martini bar where they served you bottomless fries with your martinis! Between my friend & I, we had 6 martinis and 3 or 4 fries..what a time. Highly recommend a dry gin martini with an orange twist. Sit at the bar! The staff is super friendly. Will def be my future post-Broadway stop from now on! read more
Seated immediately with a reservation. Plenty of bar seating available as well as a seating area. Upon entering they check all IDs even my 61 year old mother (lol). Our server Kevin was attentive, sassy, and very helpful. Has a local neighborhood bar vibes. Not very touristy just a few blocks from Times Square. Great spot to pop into before a show. Good for groups if you have a reservation. Great playlist- music isn't too loud, fully able to hear each other at your table. Acoustics are rough. Very loud. If you want it to be peaceful and quieter go earlier. Around 5:30 the place exploded and got incredibly loud. Menu is only QR code. Tons of great options. HH is throughout the whole restaurant. Margarita is pretty bad. It's prebatched mix tastes like the bottle stuff Bordeaux wine isn't bad. Nachos- good crispy crunchy chips. Guacamole is really fresh. Overall great flavor. Chicken sliders- very good. Hard to eat cause they're so big but the flavors pair so well together. Chicken is super crispy and great flavor on its own. Cowboy carter- good. The Dickens was a pretty good pre show spot. We were able to get seated without a reservation. I had a salad which isn't the most exciting of meals, granted. But, I do wish it had more chicken - $22 for a salad is already kinda crazy -- I also wish it was also a bit more dressed. They were a bit understaffed, so service was a tad slow. The restaurant itself is pretty nice with a nod to queer icons which I love. I'd try them again. read more

Strong drinks, almost too strong for my taste but great value for the price. Bartender was quick and attentive. Dark and sensual and filled with board games in the Genie Lounge, this was a fun spot to socialize in. The spring rolls were good - the sauce was amazing. I am updating my review, because although my first experience wasn't the best... I have come back to The Dickens thrice, and was proved that sometimes your first impression isn't always accurate. The reason why I came back was because the owner was really polite in his correspondence and THAT is how you get people back in the door. I think that they have fair prices for the quality of drink that you get, and it attracts a classy crowd of people. There has always been enough bartending staff. I really like the ambiance. It is actually a place I can go to and not feel like I'm in Hell's Kitchen. It's clean. It's elegant. The cocktail bar was absolutely amazing. I actually had such a really good blue cheese stuffed dirty martini here with unlimited fries. It might be one of the better ones I had. There's good music. It's a vibe. I recommend this place for great vibes and a great place for drinks. The food on the other ends was not so good, the fish tacos were tasteless and have no flavor, not even salt and pepper. The chipotle chicken wrap wasn't bad but it's because of the chipotle sauce that added flavor. The fries and flatbread were good and the grilled half chicken was edible. If you want good vibes and drinks and a side of great service from Daisy, go here. Don't go here for the food, because we were hungry and came in for the food and left disappointed. read more
