The service here was amazing! The place was very nice and decorated for Christmas but not over the top. The food was absolutely delicious and my Grinch Cocktail was amazing well! Im so happy to have stumbled upon this place looking for late night eats in NYC.

Fab espresso martini, quick service, nice bar, great Christmas decorations. I could've sat there for hours and been so so happy - great stop of a cocktail during the holidays

Great deal for a Sunday roast. Comes with the meat, mash, roasted potato, veggie, gravy, and popover. Food came out super fast, which I don't love but it was on the slower side so I get it. The roast beef was a little on the dry side but the gravy helped. This was the first time I had a popover and really enjoyed it.

This was my second time here and it didn't disappoint. Still one of the best burgers I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and the toppings go together so well. My boyfriend got the roast and I of course stole a bite - definitely ordering this next time! FYI, only available Sundays Service was great! Or waitress was super patient with our large and indecisive party. Great restaurant in a great location.

I NEED to come back here. I love the elevated pub atmosphere that was the perfect combo of casual but also fit a classier vibe at the same time. Seemed like a happening happy hour and really want to try their Sunday roast. The food was great as was the service. We got the Dawson salad, Dublin sliders which came with aioli and ketchup, and chips and guac.

Decided to try this spot out and it was pretty good! Atmosphere was pretty good and really pretty. Server was attentive but not annoying. Fries were good as well (not pictured) would come back to try other items.

Gin 45 and Mango Margarita

My friend and I stopped at The Dawson for dinner before a show on a Wednesday evening. The place was pretty hopping but we found an open spot at the bar right when we walked in. The bartender acknowledged us right away and was very kind and attentive the entire time we were there. We ordered drinks - a gin 45 and a mango margarita. Both were delicious that we just had to order another round later in the meal. We began with the whipped ricotta crostini appetizer. It was delicious! There were four pieces and each crostini was piled high with whipped ricotta and strawberries. It was a delicious way to begin our meal. I ordered the Pear N' Goat Cheese flatbread and my friend ordered The Dawson salad. I absolutely loved the flatbread. It was delicious and sweet. Almost like eating dessert as your meal, which is something totally up my alley. It was also the perfect amount of food, I ate every last bite. My friend said her salad was very good as well. After we finished our second round we had to head out to the show. While eating at the bar, it did get a bit loud, and it actually felt kind of warm - almost a little humid, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I hate being hot, haha. Overall, the food was excellent at The Dawson and so was the service. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to eat in that area.

This review is for drinks and service only. We stopped by before a show to have an espresso martini and truffle fries. Eric the bartender was quick, attentive and drink making was efficient and superb. The space had an instant warmth upon entry and the staff were all friendly and attentive. Would certainly stop by for a drink and bar bites. Didn't try any additional food, but the fries didn't disappoint. It was an insane amount portion wise, taste wise I would say 3/5 not all the flavor reached each French fry but it was crispy perfection.

Always a fun time. Emma and Herica (pronounced H-Eric) were behind the bar. Watching them work is like a show. They are fast, efficient and friendly. The ambiance of this spot is amazing. The Dawson Burger here is fabulous. Definitely in my top 10 of burger spots. The burger was so juicy and full of flavor. Definitely worth trying, again and again.

Hosted a happy hour here for my company and Geraldine, the owner, could not have been more accommodating. So responsive, checking in on us.. 10/10. Not to mention a beautiful location and the food was incredible. Will absolutely be back!

Different dining experience than I'm used to. The place is absolutely gorgeous and with so much history. Nice cool vibe, that's perfect for a date. The drinks that I had were not great, but not horrible either. Our waiter suggested the flatbread and the braised short rib for us and she was not wrong. That short rib was amazing and the gravy was so delicious. The meat just melted in your mouth. Def 10/10

3.5 stars, but I'm in a generous holiday mood. Stopped by here after our original girls' night spot was a bust. Like many neighborhood bars, The Dawson offers a surprising amount of beautiful holiday decorations in a cozy, dim atmosphere. That's right, take it from this NYC local: Skip the touristy landmarks, markets, parks, etc. and head to any neighborhood bar, and you'll find more Christmas decorations and holiday cheer than any of those sites. Bonus: No tourists. Anyway, we enjoyed wiling the night away with wine and food. My Shepherd's Pie was surprisingly hearty and delicious, perfectly baked and crispy where it needed to be. Our wine pours were generous too. And the music was all festive holiday classics at a volume where you could actually have a conversation. Imagine that?

We decided to stop by The Dawson for lunch today and the food was great! We had a reservation so the check-in was smooth and we sat in a nice area on the first floor. Personally, I got the classic margherita flatbread, which was okay (but a bit in the saltier end). The other food options and drink came out great as well. The waiter checked-in on us a couple of time so we knew that we were in good hands. Ambiance was alright as well, but a bit less busy probably because it wasn't during dinner hours. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5

Ask the Community - The Dawson NYC

Is it noisy?

It was a bit louder up front with the bar and some music, but we had a table in the back and were able to easy hold a conversation without yelling.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation. Overall, it's a great spot if you want elevated drinks in a space that feels transportive without being pretentious.
