I've been to this restaurant three times when it was called Dolly Varden. It has since rebranded. Not sure if it has new management or ownership as well. Dolly's, as it's now called, has more of an upscale pub vibe. The music was louder and it felt a little less intimate, but would be fun for groups or a casual dinner. They still have a great menu with lots of enticing options. To start, we tried the roasted cauliflower. These were tender and buttery and complemented nicely by the beet puree. We also got the mac and cheese. It had large tube noodles and was hearty with a sharp cheddar cheese. For my main, I had the vegan chicken sandwich. The chicken was crispy and decently flavorful. I loved their fries, which arrived piping hot. To drink, I had the spicy passion mocktail. It was sweet and fruity, but I was expecting spicy tartness. Our waitress was friendly.

I want to give this place a 3.7.... So I debated going with a 3 or 4. Ultimately I went with 3 because nothing was like mind blowing. Food: - deviled eggs with a sneaky spice flavor (maybe jalapeño??) that were 3.3/5 - chicken pesto sandwich with onion rings 3.8/5 - fried chicken sandwich with fries 3.9/5 - prosciutto flatbread 4.2/5 - mushroom onion flatbread 4.3/5 - cacio e pepe February pasta special 3.1/5 (too dry, needs more saucy-ness) Service was good, atmosphere was lively! Loud music, so if you're looking for an intimate place, prob not for you!!

We went here at 9 on a Friday night and were seated right away. The location is great. Our food was fresh and delicious. We were very happy with everything that we ordered. Our waiter was a star. I would definitely recommend checking out Dollys!

Second time at Dolly's in a year, this time in the quieter upstairs which did not disappoint! Although we had so many options in the Theater District we chose a second visit to Dolly's for good food and drinks and our experience was spot on! The upstairs was warm and welcoming with the option of cozy booths, tables and a long bar. We chose the bar as we enjoy being in the midst of the buzz. The evening was quiet as NY was recovering from the recent debilitating storm and the frigid temps were dipping consistently into single digits from the wind chill. Quiet night but a great evening thanks to the attentive bartender and excellent service! Martini Tree - what a wonderful treat to sample 5 (yes f-i-v-e) small but mighty martinis from a solid representation ranging from classic to espresso! Roasted Cauliflower with beet hummus, red pepper flakes and herb sauce - perfect for a cold winter night. Fried Crispy Brussels with glazed bacon, pomegranate and sweet heat ranch - the perfect sweet and savory blend to accompany our martinis!

I was looking for a new place to have my birthday dinner, and I decided on this restaurant. When I arrived at the restaurant, I informed them that my party size decreased, but it wasn't a problem. Alaina the host was very nice, she gave me two choices of where to sit, and I choose the table right by the entrance. I informed her that I saw two names for this restaurant when I was searching on the internet. She informed me that the restaurant recently changed its name. I liked the fact that I was able to be seated, while I waited for the rest of my party to arrive. The restaurant had all day happy, well it's named Yappy hour which was amazing on a Friday night. My brother and I decided on a martini flight. The presentation was nice and it was a good way to try several drinks for one price. My mom and sister had Margaritas in the boot glasses. For the table we ordered the Panko Chicken Strips & the cornbread because there were great reviews about the cornbread. The reviews were true, that cornbread was delicious. I took the rest of it home and it tasted even better the next day.For dinner I had the Short Rib Ragu. It was delicious. Overall i enjoyed my birthday dinner. Denaya the server was amazing. I would like to visit again .

This is my 2nd time around with Dolly's and it was better that my first encounter but lacked in some aspects. I was here with a large group, so for what it is worth the service was ok. Our server was professional but I felt like she was rushing a bit. The drinks took more time than the food. The cornbread was incredibly delicious. Everything else was OK. The deviled eggs and chicken sandwich were not as flavorful. The happy hour deals on drinks are worth it.

The food was so tasty and smelled so lovely. Great drinks and they are able to customize them to. The ambiance is great for a Friday evening or any time with a vibrant feel! Bartenders and servers are speedy and knowledgeable.

Pretty decent spot for a quick pre show dinner - 10% discount if you show your Wicked tix! Short rib sliders (added a 4th to the order, usually comes with 3) and roasted cauliflower were good and plenty to share between our party of 2.

Mid experience. Saving this review was the Caesar Salad. The short rib grilled cheese was oddly dry? If that's even possible? I ordered an extra dirty martini that sadly came out straight up. The waitress was nice, but generally service was slow. The inside is decorated pretty cool, but we did go at an early hour before a show so the place was pretty empty. Not sad I went, but don't see a need to rush back anytime soon.

The mac n cheese was good but the star of the show was the chicken fingers. The service was ok. I sat at the bar. The ambiance was nice

Visited on a December Saturday night before a radio city music hall show and was surprised at how empty it was. The space is well decorated and provides a cozy atmosphere. There's a decent menu with a variety of options, we chose the strawberry cornbread, wings, burger, shrimp&grits and friend chicken along with espresso martinis. Everything from the drinks to the food was flavorful and delicious with decent portions. Service was a little slow and inattentive with everyone from the bartender to seemingly the host taking care of us and 1 other patron during our time. In the end we had to flag someone down to get us our check since we hadn't been checked on even after having our plates cleared and one item wrapped up. Besides that which I assume was a slightly off night, this was a win in my book and I'd definitely recommend/come back.

We spent the weekend in NYC and found this restaurant randomly. This was the best restaurant we ate at all weekend! The server was amazing! The food was great! The Cajun Shrimp & Grits is the best shrimp and grits I have ever had! My daughter loved her steak frites, and she said her steak was cooked perfectly!

Grabbed brunch here with some friends before a show and was very happy with the experience! Friendly service and a great menu. We split the deviled eggs (just ok) and cornbread as appetizers. Do not sleep on the cornbread! It was incredible. Everyone enjoyed their entrees at the table and the bottomless mimosas were reasonably priced and offered 4 different varieties. Definitely a place to check out!

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

Easy to find if you know what you're looking for, if you arrive right at 5pm on a cold weeknight in the winter, you'll easily find a table or seat at the bar. Very cute space, cozy like everyone says, but nothing mind blowing. Music is moderately loud. The menu in early February still included their winter holiday cocktails. I was more interested in the apple sage house-made fermented soda, and it was pretty good-large glass, flavorful and not too sweet. My friend enjoyed her pomegranate version. The space started to fill up at around 5:30. Service was polite when you could get it, but generally very inattentive, even before it got busy. It honestly didn't feel too different from anu other very nice NYC bar, in terms of menu selection, prices, ambiance and service. Maybe that's standard for NYC speakeasies, but the places I frequented in other cities were more fun and felt more worth the price. I'll still give another NYC spot a try, but not coming back to Thyme.

We were sat at the bar once and were very well taken care of by our bartender, Nikola. It was a Sunday night, so it wasn't terribly busy. We chatted up a storm and he was able to create some drinks off the menu just for fun (on request). He also made my BF and me a couple of drinks to celebrate our anniversary too. It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. Since we had cocktails at dinner, we only stayed for one round. Service was good, and overall I enjoyed my time at Patent Pending. I would definitely return to explore more of their menu.

We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way.
