Sir Henry was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to New York. We were only visiting for three days, and after stopping in on our first night, we ended up coming back every single evening because it was such a great way to end the night. The service was exceptional. On a busy Saturday night, bartender and manager Jen was absolutely fantastic. Even with the bar packed, she made a point to acknowledge us right away and made us feel welcome. Her attention to guests never went unnoticed. The cocktails were delicious, especially the Lavender Bee's Knees--it was one of the best cocktails I had during our visit. Chloe, another bartender, was incredibly sweet, kind, and helpful, and the security staff were just as friendly and welcoming. It's rare to find a place where every member of the team goes above and beyond, but that's exactly what we experienced at Sir Henry. The place left us a bit confused. The host was nice and friendly, and the ambiance is pretty. However, the bartender, Shamar (I believe), was extremely rude and inattentive. He would roll his eyes, and when someone tried to order or ask him something, he would sometimes just turn around mid-sentence. He seemed to cover his attitude with jokes and laughter, acting like he was just being funny or a little confused, but it was pretty clear that he had no interest in being attentive or accommodating. There were maybe eight people sitting at the bar, so it wasn't exactly overwhelming. Meanwhile, the other bartender was constantly making drinks, while he mostly seemed to be walking around and ignoring people trying to get his attention. Drinks came with no straws.There were straws at the bar, but I ended up having to get one myself, squeezing through people who were sitting there eating, because it was nearly impossible to get bartender's attention to ask for anything. I was going to order another drink with my food, but I actually finished eating before anyone asked or offered me one. Horrible tourist trap! Some friends from out of town made a 6pm reservation for 12 there since it was close to a theater show they were seeing at 8pm. There was no wait service and drinks had to be taken by a rude female bartender. After getting drinks and looking at the food menu, we had to order food again at the bar, only to be told that no more food orders would be taken!!! This was at 7pm and we had to scramble to look for a place to serve us food before 8pm show. Horrible service. Don't understand how they didn't tell us that the kitchen would be closed ahead of our reservation. They know that this is a theater district and a lot of people need to rush and eat before a show. Upon entry to the upstairs bar my friend and I were met w/ a rude waitress. She wasn't accommodating in trying to get my friend and I seated. There were two seats available at the bar, but they were not near each other and she did not accommodate and or assist to try to get my friend and I seated at the bar. In fact she told us "sorry it's full" and was ready to turn us away. THANKFULLY the bartender situated the situation and asked the 3 guests at the bar if the mind shifting and they did it with ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUE and my friend and I were able to sit at the bar with no issue. From that point forward we forgot about the situation and enjoyed the rest of our evening. Ended up ordering food - the birra fries and it was bland. While it looked really appetizing, it was missing flavor all around. Since the bar is walk-up service, we didn't mind ordering ourselves, but there were about five staff members standing in the corner chatting while we were trying to figure things out. I had dinner here before a show and was pleasantly surprised. This is definitely the type of place where the food doesn't have to be good and people will still come because it's so close to Broadway, but I found my meal to be well made and tasty. I ordered the Birria flatbread. I am a little skeptical of Birria in the wake of the Birria food trend which recently swept New York City, as it is a dish that requires some care to execute well and I find that many places will slap it onto the menu in accordance with the trend without having the adequate resources to execute it well. This was not the case here. My pleasantly crispy flatbread was topped with tender and flavorful shredded beef, and the dipping consommé was savory and delicious. We shared some fries at the table which were perfectly crispy as well. My dining companions all seemed very happy with their cocktails. Despite the bar being slightly backed up, and our drinks taking some extra time, the service was incredible and did more than enough to make up for it. Our server was so friendly and did an incredible job. The prices are high but not unreasonable at all for the area. I would definitely consider this a great pre-show option for dinner. read more

It was good but sorta limited compared to their full menu. We wanted to try the tacos but had to go with the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich (good and filling but not overly hot or spicy). The shoestring French fries were on point and piping hot. The breakfast spring rolls were solid and we tried the avocado deviled eggs and they weren't that great. It's not like a deviled egg. The waitress was amazing and we told them we were going to a matinee and needed to be in and out. They took our orders and served us within 10 mins and we were out of there in 20. An amazing restaurant to go to if you are on a time crunch. We stopped by this hole in the wall to get food before our Broadway show and it offered a wide variety of things! The buffalo wings were a decent portion size and really saucy just the way I like them. The truffle fries were well seasoned. And the spicy rigatoni was hefty. We had leftovers that we could not finish because it was so much food. The service was fast and prompt. The waitress was highly attentive to my friend's nut allergy and checked with the chef each time she wanted to try something. Fives stars for being highly attentive and considerate. I had a lovely post work hang at the upstairs bar of Sir Henry's. Off the bat, I must say I was so pleased with the bartenders. They were attentive and kind. We got there at around 5pm and it was full downstairs and empty upstairs. By the time we left, however, that had filled up as well. The food is good. I will always mention how crazy prices are for midtown restaurants, but it's not really their fault. Overall, I had a lovely time. It's a spot I'd visit again. read more

We were greeted immediately and they checked our IDs, then we were seated and Alex was our server. She was so friendly. We each ordered something different, and I went with The Rag Doll. I've been very into a lychee cocktail recently, and I loved the smooth vanilla taste they added to it! I do have a sweet tooth, but my companions don't (as much), and after we all sampled each other's drinks, they did exclaim how much they liked mine. A good friend of mine introduced me to Sir Henry's over a year ago. As much as I am in this area for work and such, I had never really paid much attention to Sir Henry's but this is a cool 2-floor bar with a nice intimate setting. It is not too loud and has unique drinks, such as their espresso martini (not so much my thing but it is a fairly popular drink for many.) Nice, attending bartenders and good apps to go with their drink selection. A nice vibe more so for a date setting or something a bit more calming compared to the overly crowded loud bars in the area. Before leaving New York after an absolutely fabulous New Year's Eve in Times Square, we wanted to grab breakfast quickly--and stumbling upon Sir Henry's turned out to be a great decision. We were greeted by Jessica, who served as both our host and waitress, and she was phenomenal. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. She seated us in a cozy, intimate area toward the back, which made the experience even better. Once we got to the menu, we were sold. We started with espresso martinis made with Woodford--smooth, well-balanced, and the perfect brunch cocktail. For food, we ordered the avocado toast, which came with potato's and a salad (all delicious). The breakfast burger was loaded with great toppings and paired perfectly with crispy fries. The real standout, though, was the birria breakfast taco--absolutely top-notch and full of flavor. If you're looking for a brunch spot in the city with great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service, I highly recommend Sir Henry's. I wish I could rate this higher. We dined here before a show and gave ourselves over 2 hours to enjoy dinner not realizing we would actually be using all those 2 hours for two of us to dine. Do not be fooled with the $30 all you can drink menu... it's small size drinks. We waited 50 minutes after we ordered and our food had not come out. We asked the waiter and they lost our food ticket. He asked us if we still wanted food... wdym do we still want food. They sent our food back order in and we finally got our food. When the food arrived the pasta tasted like it was canned pasta sauce. Then we got the bill and it they had doubled the price. Finally they fixed that and we ran to our show. Did not offer us any discount or comp. I do not ask for those things but should be expected when that big of a screw up happens. We paid $74 each for our meals and was absolutely NOT worth the money. I will spend money on good food drinks and atmosphere and this was not it. I wish I could taste it higher but they messed up. read more

Sir Henry's is the new bar which opened in Times Square. Given the great location next to the theater district, it was our choice to get a drink and snack before our 8pm show. When we arrived the downstairs area was full and we were showed to the top level bar which had plenty of seats and like 10 different espresso martini options to choose from. I had the one with rum and coconut and it was a great twist on the classic. We shared the birria fries as well , and they were very tasty , the birria had amazing flavor and it as a very interesting and special quick share different from the usual bar food options. We left around 7:30pm and it was starting to get packed and the ambiance for the PM hours seemed to be a lot of fun. Wonderfully decorated large bar/restaurant with multiple levels and side bars throughout! Came here around 8pm on a Saturday. They were very busy so I was thankful we made a reservation in advance. Service was great. I ordered a dirty martini and my friend ordered the "Basic Spice" cocktail - which she said was essentially just an espresso martini with pumpkin flavor. She loved it. My martini tasted like 90% olive juice 10% vodka so I probably wouldn't order that again. We also split an order of Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer. The first couple of bites were good but most of the sprouts were swimming in a balsamic glaze sauce. The sauce was delicious but it was too much for me. It overpowered the sprouts and made them a bit soggy. I also ordered the Shrimp Tacos. They were great but again, too much sauce. Extremely messy and difficult to eat, the chipotle aioli was wonderful but there was just waaaaay too much on the tacos. If I were to order them again, I'd definitely get the sauce on the side. I usually go for the burgers or the salmon bowl and they never disappoint. The real standout though is the espresso martinis. Drinks were great; I chose to have the Aperol spritz and they make a good one. We arrived at 4:45 on a Monday afternoon. There were tons of empty tables labeled reserved. You need a reservation even for HH, unless sitting at the bar but that's almost impossible because it's so small. When we arrived the hostess put us on the waitlist. People who came in after us who were not on the list already and had no reservations. They made the reservations on their phone while standing at the host stand and were seated immediately before any one who has been waiting. The host didn't acknowledge us when we asked her about it. Had we known that was an option, we would have done that rather than standing there for almost 30 minutes.
