We arrived and were warmly welcomed my host Devina. We were seated in a cozy booth facing the bar and our server Sierra R. greeted us right away. Throughout our dinner she was very attentive, helpful and always available. We ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, the Dublin Bay Chowder, Fish&Chips, the Langan's burger and the Sticky Toffee pudding. The shrimp and chowder were great, the fish was crispy and the fries were perfectly crisp and well salted. The burger was delicious, juicy and flavorful. This place is decent but inconsistent. The interior feels unfinished, unless the design is intended to be an art deco /industrial mullet. You have wood panels, geometric wall paper and gleaming leather booths below, but if you look up, you get an unimpeded view of the pipes and HVAC system. The atmosphere is nice though, as long as you don't look up too often. The food is similarly both hit and miss. The juicy French Dip sandwich was very good and accompanied by phenomenal house cut fries. I'd come back again for these in a heartbeat. The Farro Salmon Salad, on the other hand, was mid--under seasoned and overcooked. It wasn't inedible, but a tad closer on the spectrum to hospital food than you'd expect. That said, there's enough potential here to warrant another visit, especially for drinks and more of those hand cut fries. read more

We had an awesome visit before heading out to our show. Found out that if you show your same day show ticket you get a free espresso martini! It was super delicious and whiskey based; such a welcome surprise! We ate off the Pre Fixe menu. I had a delicious ceasar salad, while my friend had a yummy French onion soup. She had the salmon for her entree and I had the Steak Frites. The "fries" were nothing to write home about but the steak was cooked to my specifications and was very tender. Some gristle but still quality. While I believe the $15 upcharge for the steak was a bit excessive on top of the $60 pre fixe price, (I'm from Texas); this is New York. Great find in the theater district! Came here after a Broadway show on a Sunday afternoon. It was raining so we were doing a search of places nearby. It came up in our search that they offer a free espresso martini if you have a same day theater ticket. We called to confirm and then walked over. Very lovely and large space inside. The staff was attentive and friendly and helpful with our questions. This whiskey-based espresso martini is SO GOOD. Might be one of the best I've had. We also ordered food - reuben sandwich (includes fries), burger with added cheese (also includes fries). We took advantage of the all day Sunday happy hour by ordering an additional drink. Unfortunately it turns out the "house" whiskey ginger I ordered is made with Maker's Mark so it cost more than I was looking to spend. (I didn't know this until after we got the bill. We really enjoyed our dinner here. It wasn't too loud like most of the other restaurants we went to. We ordered two cocktails and they accidentally made an extra, so they let us keep it which was nice. My husband had the shepherds pie which he thought was better than my short rib pappardelle, but honestly, both were great. The sticky toffee pudding is definitely worth ordering too. Only complaint is that they didn't mark me as attending my reservation so OpenTable reached out to me about their cancellation policy and how I had violated it. I visited Langans for the first time with my coworkers for dinner. The restaurant is close by time square so very convenient to walk over from the office. They had lots of space for large parties. We make a reservation same day and they have availability to accommodate us. The restaurant was busy. They had music on but we were able to have conversations. I had the Ceasar salad and it was good but it had too much dressing. Next time I would order the dressing on the side. My coworker was raving about the onion soup sandwich. We stopped by for an early dinner before the play. Very nice ambiance, the feel of an old but upscale pub. Most of the tables are bar tables with high chairs. Decent selection of beers and cocktails - I had Guinness (appropriate :)), and my wife had Bloody Mary and she said it was tasty. This was to be the crown jewel of our nyc trip. I chose this place for its high rating and close proximity to the shows. This place did not disappoint. The vibe is that of a bar with a bit of fine dining. So it was a little loud with people but it didnt bother us. My wife had the steak frittes and I had the pappardelle. I came here before watching Maybe Happy Ending. It's such a great place! I'd love to come back. I walked in and was firstly struck by how beautiful it is inside! The high ceilings, wood, leather, herringbone wood floors, I'm all for it. The hostess took me to a table in the back and kindly asked if I wanted to be seated in a quieter area. So thoughtful! After seeing a show nearby we came here since it was nearby and I've heard great things about it. the place is huge inside! we had a reservation but opted to sit at the bar. we grabbed the first 2 seats which were great. when I walked to the bathroom I realized that the bar was enormous and wrapped around all the way to the back and around to the front on the other side. it happened to be happy hour PLUS they had a QR code where you write a google review for a free Irish coffee martini...done! we both did that immediately. This is where my crew picked for early dinner after a show. They seated us pretty quickly & the ambiance was friendly & accommodating. We all ate something different, but my husband got the Shepards Pie, & we both have never had a bad one anywhere, but the way the meat is seasoned here is mind blowing. I'm not sure why this place has good reviews. Here are my thoughts: Food was not good. We ordered shrimp cocktail, Caesar salad and two strip steaks from the fixed price menu. About one minute after ordered, we got the salad and shrimp cocktail so it must have been pre-prepared and in a fridge. The shrimp was not a great quality (chewy and chalky) and the salad tasted like fridge. Not great for a $200 dinner for two (without drinks). The steaks were not cooked properly (we ordered med rare and mine came completely brown all the way through and my wife's had a tiny bit of color, more like med well). The meat also did not taste like it was a high quality cut. Certainly not what I expected for the price of the place. The steak is ordinarily over 50 bucks, or if part of the fixed price, it's a 15 dollar supplement on top of the 60 dollar fixed price menu. Atmosphere feels quite corporate / manufactured. Sort of what I'd expect for the area of town but I was hoping to be surprised given the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Service was okay. Our server was nice and prompt. The sticky toffee pudding, though I'm sure is some straight-from-the-freezer Cisco product, did taste good. So for that and the okay service, I'd say two stars have been earned. read more

what a sweet surprise this location was! We made the mistake of not having a reservation for any restaurant for dinner on our first night in town. We called Langans and they added us to the list for a table within 45 minutes. It allowed us to walk from our hotel to their location and our table is ready by the time we got to the restaurant. We started off with the Reuben spring rolls. They were very good. My parents had the French Onion Soup and the Seafood Chowder. They both finished their bowls and shared a burger.
