The best thing I can say is that they have really good coffee. I am very particular about my coffee, and they get it right. But I need to stop right there. I have been a longtime customer of Marriott properties around the world. In fact, I even wrote a letter to J.W. Marriott back in August 2000 praising the wonderful service I received at the Grand Marriott Hotel in Bucharest, Romania. With all that being said, I ordered a cheese platter--what many would call a charcuterie board--and was extremely disappointed. What arrived looked like about $1.50 worth of cheese scraps arranged on a plate, yet it cost $28. I often order cheese boards when meeting people for business over coffee. Years ago, when the lounge at the Park Lane Hotel was open, their cheese board cost around $35 and came with an impressive variety and generous portions of quality cheeses. It felt like good value and was something I happily ordered repeatedly. I do not mind spending money. I am willing to pay for quality, presentation, and service. What I do mind is paying premium prices for something that feels dramatically overpriced for what is actually served. The coffee was excellent. Unfortunately, the cheese platter left me feeling disappointed and significantly diminished what otherwise could have been a much better experience. read more

They cooked a new one and it came back about the same which was annoying. My prime rib had an absurd amount of fat on it but flavor was good. My sweet hubby took me out on the town in my favorite city in the US, to celebrate my 70th birthday - and our 14th anniversary in March! He's a native New Yorker from Brooklyn, so it's always an adventure when we visit. From start to finish, the ambiance, the live piano music, the wait staff - the food - created a memorable night I shall cherish always! We paired it with the smooth, elegant and red fruity flavors of the Pinot Noir. The hubby also had the Caesar salad, grilled broccoli and pomme puree. I ordered the creamed spinach and button mushrooms. DELICIOUS!!! The 360-degree view of the New York skyline at night is indescribable! A complete revolution takes about an hour. It was so breathtaking and serene, with the sounds of soft piano playing, muffled conversations, tinkling glasses and ebb and flow of laughter - we were there for two and half revolutions! It was easy to lose track of time - and we never felt rushed! We shall return! I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. 48 floors up to the Lounge at The View NY and we had an incredible time. Early for our reservation, we asked to sit at the bar for a drink before dinner. The Lounge has its own menu which includes their signature Katz's Martini and small plates. This was the perfect prelude to dinner which we had in the restaurant just one floor below. Located in the Theater district, the View is known for their rotating views of the NY skyline as they are NYC's only revolving restaurant. That's right -- the floor on the outer circle of the restaurant and the inner part of the building are slowly moving. It was pretty cool to see! Katz's Martini was a nod to Katz's Deli -- Brisket-washed gin with vermouth and pastrami spices, and a pickle. Camila, our server, gave us recommendations as we wanted to try basically everything on the menu. We started with the East Coast Oysters and the Jumbo Lump Blue Crab Cake. Since the View re-opened I have wanted to give it a shot and with my husband's birthday coming up, I figured it was the perfect spot for a special dinner and it was even better than expected. We were greeted by the hosts in the restaurant and quickly escorted to our table which had a cool view of the W Hotel to start. Service was great across the board. Our server was professional, courteous and did a great job recognizing the birthday celebration. We started with a cocktail for me (Marquee Old Fashioned- outstanding) and a mocktail for Alp. We were served some delicious focaccia and then we received our appetizers of crispy fried artichokes and shrimp cocktail. The artichokes were a tad overdone but they were still light, crispy and delicious. We loved the shrimp. I had the ribeye with a side of fries and Alp had filet with mashed potatoes. My steak was delicious....tender and flavorful and the fries were great. Alp loved the filet and the potatoes. We did our best not to eat all of our steaks because we wanted to save room for the decadent chocolate cake we'd seen. That cake was outstanding and came with a caramel sauce that was good but it would have been just as delicious without it. We also ordered a Whipped And Swirled, which was like a boozy Magnolia Bakery banana pudding. That could have been its own dessert! Oh, and I haven't mentioned the namesake view! Everyone should try a revolving restaurant sometime and this one is a good place to start. The view is excellent. It is basically a steakhouse in the sky. We started with the tuna carpaccio and, not to slight the entrees, it was the highlight. Fresh raw tuna pounded thin with a fruity olive oil, capers, a few slices of onion for texture-really excellent. I had the double cut lamb chops, medium rare, and they were both beautiful and tasty. The portion was very satisfying even for a very hungry person like myself. My companion had the picanha steak and gave me a few bites - it was well seasoned, properly cooked medium rare and wonderfully beefy. The service was friendly and timely. Of course the atmosphere is the main thing and it does not disappoint. Pro tip - the sides are not huge like I'm used to at steakhouses, where they are certainly to share. Here, the sides, though pricy, are sized for one. We shared the mashed potatoes and they were excellent but had I known the portion size, I would have ordered another side. Located at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The name of the place speaks for itself! The restaurant/lounge rotates, so you really do get a whole 360 degree view. Go there during sunset for the most beautiful views New York has to offer. You have the choice between sitting at the restaurant or lounge. I highly recommend the lounge for a more intimate clear setting (since the restaurant is at a lower floor than the lounge). However, the lounge doesn't offer the full service dinner menu - just bites, desserts, and raw bar options. I came for pre-dinner cocktails and wasn't disappointed. Cadillac Margarita - Patron Resposado, kalamansi, Grand Marnier, and chili oil powder. A slight twist on the classic margarita - the added chili oil powder adds a fun spice to the drink. Be warned that the spice level is a bit more than mild. Marquee Old Fashioned - Suntory Toki, cognac, shiso, peach, miso, brown butter, and honey. I actually prefer Japanese whiskey for my old fashioned, so this drink was perfect. The miso brown butter adds a nuttiness and depth, while the shiso/peach slightly elevate the classic old fashioned profile. Service was friendly and welcoming. I was skeptical coming here, thinking it was a tourist trap. I had also come here a few years ago in 2023 and it wasn't that great then. Back then, the food was not good and the decor seemed outdated. The signage also made it super confusing to find the restaurant. Since I've last eaten there, Danny Meyer's hospitality group has taken over and what great changes they've made! First, I can find the restaurant easily. So many clearly marked signs pointed me in the right direction. The food ended up being fantastic. I loved everything I ate. We had the shrimp cocktail, tuna carpaccio, caesar salad for shared appetizers and for myself, I had the wagyu picanha, mashed potatoes and NY cheesecake. I was also able to try some creamed spinach and the burger. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. There was literally nothing I didn't like. The ambiance was great too. It had a more upscale feel to it than the last time I dined there and the service was fantastic. Our server was phenomenal. Also, the value is great. I thought the prices were very fair for everything. All-in-all, I love this restaurant. Attentiveness here from our server was not as great as it should be. The hosts were nice but after we were sat down, the server left much to be desired. Our server was rather short in attitude following their introduction to our table. Drinks took maybe 25 minutes to come to our table and we ordered food 45 minutes after being sat down. Every interaction felt like an eternity in between. Understandably the restaurant can be busy but I didn't feel this was the case to warrant such a few and far between check in from our server. In addition our food wasn't cooked as ordered. My medium rare steak was more in the medium/well done side and my wife's medium steak was well done. I hadn't the opportunity to bring this to my servers attention as the visits to the table were rather limited and wasn't willing to wait for it to be remade. I don't remember the name of our server as I can't recall it being given to us. Nevertheless the experience was good but for what you are paying, it should be exceptional. Cocktail prices were on the higher side with my Popstar cocktail costing $23. Quite sadly, there was no live music. So what was the bad part? Our server was inattentive, and when she finally asked us if we wanted anything else, she didn't give us a chance to ask for the check but ran off. We had to stand up and track someone down, and then when we finally got the check, she disappeared again, and we had to give our bill and cash to another server. Also, they seated us next to an obnoxious group who basically mingled around their table the entire time, standing right next to us as though they were having a private party. You can never go wrong with a Danny Meyer establishment. He's like the King Midas of nyc the restaurant industry -- everything he touches turns to gold. I had dinner at the restaurant on the 47th floor but they also have a bar/lounge on the 48th floor as well with a different menu. Some things to note that prevented me from giving it stellar remarks -- they ran out of all fish when I ordered and it wasn't even that late (we were there at 7.30pm) and as a pescatarian it was pretty disheartening so I just had to go with the crab cake appetiser as my main, which was good so not the worst situation. Ambiance (5/5): To enter the restaurant, find the Marriott hotel and take the escalators to the third floor. Check in with the receptionist who called an elevator for us, then we'd go up to the top level. If you are afraid of heights be warned--these elevators are SO fast and the views were cool! It's very cool to see the panoramic view of the city but of course there are moments where you will see the back of a building obfuscated with nothing. Service (5/5): Every moment, we felt like we were helped when we needed it. Our server was a sommelier and helped to pick the wine for one of us. The food timing was great. We had no issues. Fried Artichokes (5/5): Although a very standard app, the artichokes were fried to perfection and the garlic dip made each bite very creamy and delicious. Cocktails are outrageously priced at $22 but expected for the views of the city. My Opening Night was delicious but can't fathom paying for that except for the view. Dry Aged Ribeye (5/5): Wowza, the crust of the ribeye is out of this world!! Definitely the better choice over the prime au jus prime rib. While it was very flavorful, the dry aged slice seasoning felt enjoyable on its own a little bit more. I favored the creaminess of the Béarnaise sauce a bit more than their Au Poivre. Lobster Spaghetti ''Alla Chitarra' (2/5): This was a recommended dish and was a bit of a letdown. Expect a pasta dish with some tomato sauce with small chunks of lobster. Sauce was a little spicy but overall there wasn't much to it. They make the pasta in-house! The side accompaniments were not hugely standouts: Potatoes Au Gratin, Creamed Spinach, and Grilled Broccoli However, their desserts were great, namely the: Banana Sundae (5/5): I loved the chunks of banana cake! The caramel dressing melted into the ice cream and everything incorporated really well. Cookie (4/5): The cookie was warm so the chocolate melted and the cookie itself fell apart while picking it up. One of the more memorable dinners! The view was definitely worth it, especially during sunset. The crab cake was good - didn't have much fillers, but the crab meat was rather stringy/dry than lumpy/juicy. (Ah, how I miss you, Maryland crab cakes.) The seared duck breast was tender and paired nicely with the dates but could've been more juicy. The creamed spinach was less creamy than expected but very flavorful, and the potatoes au gratin were absolutely amazing. The signature chocolate cake was very impressive, especially the caramel sauce that came on the side. Service was warm and attentive! Upscale ambience but not stuffy (we don't like pretentiousness, thanks). read more

Such a fun dining experience. Danny Meyer didn't need to do much: serve good food and let us enjoy the view. The revolving restaurant is kind of awesome, I fear. The food is solid, too. Steak and Americana. We had a reservation for 3 at 7:15pm on a Wednesday that I got 2 days before. It didn't seem hard to get the reservation, although it was pretty bustling when we were seated. The view is actually delightful. There's a live pianist, which was cool. We stayed for 3 hours or so and completed 1.5 full rotations, seeing the pianist twice, who was still playing after a few hours. I have to mention that we waited quite a while between ordering and courses, so have patience. It's kind of a luxury being at the top of a Times Square Marriott in their revolving restaurant, I guess. We got cocktails - dirty vodka martinis, old fashioneds, margaritas. All were quite boozy and delicious. They're $22, but what do you expect at a restaurant like this? We got half a dozen oysters, and the complimentary bread service, which is actually some bread crisps that are very well-seasoned with an everything-bagel-like seasoning. Tasty. For mains, we got a burger, the bass, and the duck. Everything was pretty solid, if sliiightly overcooked. I liked my burger bun. The dishes are all also presented very nicely, like the sea bass cut out table-side from the sous vide bag and plated very carefully by a server. For dessert, we shared an espresso martini and the whipped cocktail, along with the $18 chocolate cake. Get the cake, it's massive and covered in caramel and worth it. The whipped cocktail was nice. Service was weirdly...fine. It seems like they were flustered and slow and not trained well? They were nice but so slow, and it wasn't even uber busy... I fear what it's like on a weekend night. We had patience, but also they spilled a whole glass of water on me and again, thankfully I was patient, but come on... friendly, but just not the quality I expect at a Danny Meyer restaurant. Or maybe I should lower my expectations and just enjoy the view. read more
