A unique dining experience accentuated by the 360 degree dining room that provide stunning views of Midtown. I went for dinner and caught a breathtaking sunset. Service was solid, as (hopefully) to be expected at a fine dining establishment such as this. The host/hostesses were prompt all the way from the ground floor to the entrance on the dining level. The food itself was typically Danny Meyer-esque quality, which is to say it was outstanding and kept pace with the ambience and service. I sampled the filet, the ribeye, salmon, and house burger and to be honest, it was the burger that really stood out. In fact, I can taste/crave it right now while writing this review. We went to The View to celebrate after our friends' wedding, and it was definitely a memorable experience. The rotating restaurant and views of New York City are absolutely spectacular and really make the evening feel special. I had the lamb chops, which were delicious, although I was surprised by how small the portion was for the price. My friends had the halibut and steak and thought their meals were good, but not exceptional. We also shared the mashed potatoes and broccoli. The portions on the sides were quite small as well. The broccoli was just three large pieces, and the mashed potatoes were barely enough for the three of us to share. After drinks, dinner, sides and a cookie for dessert, our bill was around $275 for three people. You're definitely paying a premium for the experience and the incredible view. I'm glad we went, especially for such a special occasion, but if you mainly want to experience the rotating restaurant and the views, I'd consider stopping in for a drink and an appetizer rather than a full dinner. read more

The restaurant rotates just ever so slightly feeling like you're on your own version of Lauryn's Hills 'Everything is Everything' music video where the world is spinning on a vinyl record. There was an amazing pianist that was playing a variety of good songs. There was an option to request songs of course. The food was good. Atleast the selections we made considering other reviews. My family and I stopped by The View after a Broadway show during a weekend trip to NYC. We just got some light apps and drinks and really enjoyed our time. I was worried it might feel a little gimmicky / too touristy, but the atmosphere was actually great. We walked in after a matinee and got a table for 4 without too much of a wait. Service was a little slow, but our server was friendly and helpful. Prices were a little high, but as to be expected for the area and honestly not as bad as I expected. It was really cool to be able to be able to see the view in all directions, and the floor was moving so slowly you barely noticed. Since the View re-opened I have wanted to give it a shot and with my husband's birthday coming up, I figured it was the perfect spot for a special dinner and it was even better than expected. You're greeted warmly at the host stand on the 3rd floor and escorted to the elevator where you're whisked to the 48th floor. We were greeted by the hosts in the restaurant and quickly escorted to our table which had a cool view of the W Hotel to start. Service was great across the board. Our server was professional, courteous and did a great job recognizing the birthday celebration. We started with a cocktail for me (Marquee Old Fashioned- outstanding) and a mocktail for Alp. We were served some delicious focaccia and then we received our appetizers of crispy fried artichokes and shrimp cocktail. The artichokes were a tad overdone but they were still light, crispy and delicious. We loved the shrimp. I had the ribeye with a side of fries and Alp had filet with mashed potatoes. My steak was delicious....tender and flavorful and the fries were great. Alp loved the filet and the potatoes. We did our best not to eat all of our steaks because we wanted to save room for the decadent chocolate cake we'd seen. That cake was outstanding and came with a caramel sauce that was good but it would have been just as delicious without it. We also ordered a Whipped And Swirled, which was like a boozy Magnolia Bakery banana pudding. That could have been its own dessert! Oh, and I haven't mentioned the namesake view! I absolutely loved the 360 degree view as we eat. It was really neat to view the skyline from so many perspectives (although when you're facing the New Jersey side, there's not much to see because there's a big piece of the building blocking the view for about 10 minutes, but honestly, are you going to miss seeing Weehawken???) Everyone should try a revolving restaurant sometime and this one is a good place to start. The view is excellent. It is basically a steakhouse in the sky. We started with the tuna carpaccio and, not to slight the entrees, it was the highlight. Fresh raw tuna pounded thin with a fruity olive oil, capers, a few slices of onion for texture-really excellent. I had the double cut lamb chops, medium rare, and they were both beautiful and tasty. The portion was very satisfying even for a very hungry person like myself. My companion had the picanha steak and gave me a few bites - it was well seasoned, properly cooked medium rare and wonderfully beefy. The service was friendly and timely. Of course the atmosphere is the main thing and it does not disappoint. Pro tip - the sides are not huge like I'm used to at steakhouses, where they are certainly to share. Here, the sides, though pricy, are sized for one. We shared the mashed potatoes and they were excellent but had I known the portion size, I would have ordered another side. Best: - chocolate cake: decadent Everything else: - Caesar salad: unremarkable - Brussels sprouts: tangy pomegranate sauce but a bit pricey at $16 for the side size - Wagyu: thick and round, a bit tough to cut but crispy sear and seasoning. - Ribeye: thin but large with big chunks of fat. A bit too salty. It's very good for people who love fatty cuts, but I felt it didn't come close to a Peter Luger steak which is thicker and juicier. Both steaks came with a side of salad. The sauces were kinda pricy at $6 and the portions quite large so you would probably only need 1 sauce per steak max. I didn't think the steaks needed sauces at all as they were very well seasoned alone. Anyways we tried them: - au poivre: personal favorite: a peppery rich gravy - horseradish cream: exactly as expected - bearnaise: kind of a fluffy light mayo - chimichurri: tart and refreshing Also had: - Whipped and swirled banana pudding cocktail: surprisingly strong! Located at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The name of the place speaks for itself! The restaurant/lounge rotates, so you really do get a whole 360 degree view. Go there during sunset for the most beautiful views New York has to offer. You have the choice between sitting at the restaurant or lounge. I highly recommend the lounge for a more intimate clear setting (since the restaurant is at a lower floor than the lounge). However, the lounge doesn't offer the full service dinner menu - just bites, desserts, and raw bar options. I came for pre-dinner cocktails and wasn't disappointed. Cadillac Margarita - Patron Resposado, kalamansi, Grand Marnier, and chili oil powder. A slight twist on the classic margarita - the added chili oil powder adds a fun spice to the drink. Be warned that the spice level is a bit more than mild. Marquee Old Fashioned - Suntory Toki, cognac, shiso, peach, miso, brown butter, and honey. I actually prefer Japanese whiskey for my old fashioned, so this drink was perfect. The miso brown butter adds a nuttiness and depth, while the shiso/peach slightly elevate the classic old fashioned profile. Service was friendly and welcoming. I was skeptical coming here, thinking it was a tourist trap. I had also come here a few years ago in 2023 and it wasn't that great then. So many clearly marked signs pointed me in the right direction. The food ended up being fantastic. I loved everything I ate. I was also able to try some creamed spinach and the burger. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. There was literally nothing I didn't like. The ambiance was great too. It had a more upscale feel to it than the last time I dined there and the service was fantastic. Our server was phenomenal. Also, the value is great. I thought the prices were very fair for everything. All-in-all, I love this restaurant.
