Ordered: Rosamaria Fizz (~$25): Still G.I.N, Pamplemousse, Lemon, Rosemary Pornstar Martini (~$25): Vodka, Passionfruit, Lime, Vanilla, Champagne Aya's take: Opulent interior and lackluster drinks. We arrived at Chapel Bar without a reservation and since it was a weeknight, we had no issues grabbing a table around 8pm. We each got a cocktail which was decent but nothing to write home about it. For each cocktail to cost ~$25 plus an automatic 20% gratuity (regardless of party size), it's absolutely not worth it. You're really paying for the ambiance more than anything. If you're looking for proper drinks, go somewhere else. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax & grab a drink, you might actually enjoy it.

Absolutely beautiful speakeasy adjacent to a servicing church. The ambiance and decor of this place is a whimsical dream and I enjoyed the entrance which included coat check. We were led through a curtain that opened up into the grand space, with the focus being on the stunning bar and chandelier. The music playing was soft and suited the ambiance. The candles add a great touch! We sat at the bar and the bartender was super helpful in explaining the drinks and helping us order off menu. There's a variety of seating from couch style tables to a good amount of bar seating and even confessional style booths for private parties. I visited on a rainy Thursday night and there was a fair amount of customers. I can see this spot getting pretty packed on a weekend or being great for private events. Definitely on the pricier side, but great atmosphere and worth spending a couple hours here.

I really wanted to come here for a long time and I'm sad to hear that is closing soon! I was able to grab a reservation for 9:30pm in a Tuesday evening and am so glad I did. The inside of the chapel is really really cool. They did a great job of designing it and making it an experience. Service was pretty good - very standard for a nice bar (though it wasn't very busy, so your experience may differ) Drinks were pretty good. My wife loved hers (can't remember what it was) and I had the espresso martini-type of drink with rum. The rum was quite strong and overpowered the drink in my opinion, but the other drinks sounded pretty good. Come visit before it closes! Reservations highly recommended

Was a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews, but my experience was actually very positive: - Bouncer was super nice and respectful when asked to see my ID. - Very dark inside; Was a bit hard to read the menu. - Drink (the Chartreuse Swizzle) didn't taste like much alcohol but was actually strong and hit me one-third through! - Clubby vibes. Very loud, and gets louder as the night goes on.

Ambiance (5/5): what's not to love when you can party inside a church? Ask for the confession booth if you have a small group. Service (5/5): the waitress was attentive and ensured our glasses were always full. Drink (4/5): while the cocktails were good, they didn't wow me at the price tag of $24!

Elegant art bar as part of the Fotografiska collective (see museum and excellent restaurant Veronika across the street from CB) Pricey cocktails in a dimly lit but cool lounge vibe.

Oof. The opulent views are the only reason to come here, and for that, I'd suggest just doing a drive-by point and shoot (with your camera), and then leave. It's not worth it to stay for the $25 cocktails, which all seem to taste like colorful nothing. $31 later (including tax and tip), you're poorer and just as sober as you were when you walked in. I won't even bother naming my drink because they were all interchangeable. Service was okay, but we came early on a Tuesday evening.

This was a private bar. You have to be invited to attend. The service was impeccable with mixologists. They made drinks from the menu or from scratch based on your desire. I attended for a clothing launch for Weird Saint. There was singing, dancing, and networking. It was night to remember. This was a church hence the name Chapel bar.

One thing I love about this bar is the ambiance! The interior is absolutely stunning! It is a bar in a chapel hence the name of the bar. The interior is very pretty. I think it's a great spot to hang out with friends or for a date night! They offer table seats or you can grab drinks by the bar. The drinks are decent, but I do hope that in the future it could be more creative with the drinks. Service was good, and drinks arrived quickly. We were able to walk in without much wait.

Small, intimate bar that is located in an old church adjacent to the Fotografiska museum. The space is actually much smaller than the pics make it out to be. The setting is definitely gorgeous inside the chapel. They have table service for those who have seating, otherwise can order at the bar. I do agree with @Nicole H. though - wish they had seats at the bar counter. Cocktails are decent, but on the higher end of NYC prices (mid 20s). They have a private room off to the side that can be reserved. Definitely a bit of an older crowd (the staff are probably the youngest people in there) - not surprising given the place is essentially only open to Patron members of the Fotografiska (which is like $2K/year). However can come as a guest of a member. I think it'd be a nice place to hang out if I need a place with noise level acceptable to have a conversation. Seats/tables are preferred over standing here. Cool place to check out on occasion, but probably wouldn't be on a destination list if looking for the best cocktails in the city.

Super cool bar, it's inside this museum which is pretty neat. Once you go in, just ask someone where to go and they'll direct you. The wait is about 30 mins. The decor is amazing! It's so pretty inside , but space is limited. This bar can get packed and the hostess really isn't a big help. At one point it just got a way too crowded , tables are limited so you have to stand. The drinks are strong but good. This place was cool but not memorable.

Chapel Bar... the name says it all. Incredible space. Hands down, this place is absolutely beautiful and sexy as hell, (okay, maybe not the best word to use when describing this bar). Talk about restoring a space gone right... well, this is it. Walking in through a nondescript door, you're welcomed into a small, dark entryway, draped in velvet, giving off somewhat of a confessional vibe. Better believe I'd go to confession often if this were it. Walk past two sets of velvet curtains and you are in heaven... (again, maybe not the best word to use here). I felt like I was transported into another world. You know you're in a special space when you check out your surroundings; up, down, left, right... there's jaw-dropping decor & detail in every one of those directions. The bar is a half circle, opening up to the floor of seating, which is 20 seats at best, ranging from comfy chairs to couches. Hanging from the ceiling, you can't miss the chandelier that brings the entire space together. To top it off, the cocktails are well crafted. This is the spot where you want to be.

I was warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door (5 service there), which set a great first impression. However, as soon as I walked downstairs, it felt like the space had lost its speakeasy vibe. I was seated right near the stairs and could feel cold air from outside every time the door opened, which made the experience uncomfortable. I was also surprised to see how much the cocktail menu had been reduced. When I asked about it, the response was that "the place changed a lot." That's fair -- places evolve -- but instead of highlighting the improvements or new strengths, the explanation focused negatively on what the bar used to be. As someone who really enjoyed the former version, that wasn't reassuring. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves didn't make up for it. One of the two cocktails was simply not good. No one came back to check on the drinks, and when I asked for the check after about 20 minutes, there was no acknowledgment that I had barely touched mine or any inquiry about my experience. Overall, a place I once enjoyed and recommended now feels more like a standard dive bar where " Mixologist " were replaced by bartender and were fun cool looking and tasty drinks were replaced by " less complex cocktail ", lacking the warmth and attention to detail that once made it special.

It somehow manages to feel both refined and relaxed at the same time. The kind of place where you half expect to spot Hemingway in the corner pretending not to eavesdrop. We started with half a dozen oysters, which were fresh, briny, and exactly what you want with serious cocktails. Crisp, clean, gone in about three minutes. For drinks, we ordered the Smoke Show and the King Tusk. The Smoke Show was beautifully balanced. The Grey Goose vodka and Dolin Dry gave it that classic martini backbone, but the fino sherry and brine added depth. The smoked olive oil and blue cheese olive brought just enough savory drama without overpowering the glass. It was complex but not fussy. The King Tusk leaned more aromatic and layered. The vermouths gave it richness, while the Buddha's Hand and osmanthus flower added subtle citrus and floral notes that lingered in a really elegant way. It felt like a cocktail designed to be savored slowly. The music fit the mood perfectly, not too loud, just enough to give the room energy without killing conversation. Overall, it's a great spot if you want elevated drinks in a space that feels transportive without being pretentious. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm in the mood for a refined, slightly cinematic night out in Flatiron.
