Super cool bar, whose exit is the 28th st subway station. Social media ready with good appetizers and drinks. Everyone should go at least once.
Loved the vibe in here! The drinks were super super yummy (but more on the expensive side)! The service and attention to detail was top notch and I cannot wait to come back.
Omg, what a fun time! This is a speakeasy hidden in the uptown 1 subway station! The entrance is on the street level when you come out of the station. You ring the doorbell, and then you walk down to this hidden bar, with an exit door directly to the subway station. It was pretty neat, you could actually see people walking down the stairs into the subway through translucent windows from within the bar. The red lighting and intimate space were exactly what I'd expect of a speakeasy. Our group of 15 fit comfortably in the space, but the space felt like it could fit about 30 comfortably (meaning each person has some space). The music was chill so we did not have a hard time hearing one another. The drinks and service were okay; nothing to complain about. I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail with ginger beer for $19 (average price of drinks). But truly, what stood out for me was the ambience and experience. I'd highly recommend visiting for a chill, intimate evening, in a hidden bar, in the subways of NYC. Only in NY :)
We were looking for a cocktail bar post dinner on Sunday and most of the bars were closing or already closed. I remember seeing this bar and I was like oh let's see if it's open, they were also going to close soon but welcomed us for a nightcap. Gabriel was an exceptional host to us and we pretty much had the place to ourselves, We had a great experience, drank wine, and good conversation. Def will like to circle back around to try their cocktails
Our friend was hosting so we luckily got one of the back tables with seating and didn't have to make a reservation. Seems advisable to make one, though! The small bit I heard of their backstory should be something everyone takes into account and hears. This is a passion project with cool vibes, fun snacks, and great drinks, and of course our hostess Megan was so fun and welcoming! Cocktails we ordered: *Creme de la Creme (vodka) martini (x2) *Secret Garden *2 random spicy, tequila based cocktails. Snacked on a plate of large olives + bread crisps + assortment of 3 cheeses. Cannot go wrong with cheese and any type of antipasto! Wish I had gotten a pic because the vibe was immaculate. DJ was doing her thing! Music was loud but you didn't have to yell to be heard. I agree with the reviewer who said that this is the perfect place to start your night or to hang out casually for a while.
Really cool speak easy location in the train station.. initially, I was a little tricky finding the entrance, but with little effort, I was able to find it at street level. Seating is highly limited, so I suggest you call ahead to book a reservation Really cool vibe featuring a Dj playing ambient music, craft cocktails, with limited appetizers for food options. Met up with friends and we had a good time.
La Noxe is a small yet intimate speakeasy that has an entrance through a subway station. The drinks were very good; I enjoyed "Hard Facts" tequila based drink and the Catalan Toast as a snack.
This is a creative idea and cute spot but very overpriced all things considered. For example, charging $16 for 3 potatoes cut in half with 6 slithers of octopus is highway rubbery. (Get it?) I thought the octopus was tasty and not too rubbery but 4 slithers just isn't fair. The guacamole and chips are served with regular Tostitos from the supermarket they're not even the restaurant tortilla chips and not warmed. We also had the pesto with mozzarella. Again, nice flavor but the serving size should be more for what they charge. I'd say the best thing I had there was a chilled French wine and the Mean Caucasian drink. The staff, especially the owner/bartender Jon, was very friendly. It's a cool place to try once but given the extremely skimpy portions and price I probably wouldn't go back. It's not fair to the customer to take such a dividend on the food by charging such a price for a minuscule portion. They have about 4 tables and perhaps 6-8 seats at the bar. Cute place to impress a date and show you found a hidden spot. Go have one drink, impress your date with a cool place then go eat somewhere else for sure! I gave 4 stars cuz they gained an extra star for location and creativity.
This speakeasy has a very unassuming street presence with a small gold sign and doorbell indicating its location. When you ring the bell, an employee comes to the door and escorts you down a flight of stairs to the bar. It is a pretty tiny space. The bar seats around 6-8 people and there are enough tables for five or six additional parties. They have an intriguing cocktail menu with lots of unique ingredients. I tried the Secret Garden. It was bright green and had a very complex taste profile. The kale gave it some vegetal notes but it was also fruity, juicy, and full-bodied. I loved the chili salt on the rim which added a perfect amount of spice. Can't say it was my favorite cocktail, but it's definitely worth a try for something different. I tried my friend's Hard Facts as well and enjoyed it's subtle flavor. A DJ played a set while we were there. The music started off unintrusively but when we left around 10:30, it had gotten quite loud so it was hard to hold a conversation. The bar exits directly into the 28th street subway which makes for a quirky close to the experience.

Great ambiance and yummy cocktails. I expected there to be more of a curated wine list, but the Lambrusco was very good. I'd be interested to hear what other type of music plays there on a day they don't have a featured DJ that only does 1 style, but the DJ was good and we had fun. Small bites for food, so I'm glad we ate before going. The service was very good and staff was friendly. Only 1 bathroom is so brave! read more

A true speakeasy, with a maximum capacity of 30 people. Cool, Spanish vibe, with a variety of cocktails, wines and liquors, as well as modern tapas bites. I enjoyed the Hard Facts cocktail with mezcal instead of tequila, which was delicious and then a dirty gin martini. For a place with Spanish influence, I wish there were more unique olive or other selections for the martinis. I enjoyed my martini. My boyfriend didn't like his two drinks, a bourbon cocktail and a beer. Seating inside is intimate with unique chairs, tables and couches and great red mood lighting. Cute vinyls, books and photos add to the vibe. Only one bathroom and there is a small self-serve coat room. Drinks were expensive for what you get and I wish I had seen more of the dancing/music aspect of this spot. Cool to check out, but won't be a regular here. read more

Thanks to yelp we found this place and it was close to our hotel. Perfect way to wrap up a beautiful day in the city The pictures on here helped us locate the door, we rang the bell and went down into the quaint speakeasy. The vibe was perfect, the music was on point and the drinks were good. Like I said, perfect place for a night cap! The service was friendly, the people in the place were fun to talk with. They waited on us, gave us water, bathroom was nice so glad we found this place. I could have have a second round, but we called it after one drink there were cute couples in there, ppl at the bar. Felt very comfortable. Plan to return. read more

Really cool speakeasy bar hidden in the subway stop. The entrance is now on the street level, but you exit through the subway which is super fun. Didn't have a reservation on a Friday night but they had room for two at the bar. Got the Placebo mocktail which was a ginger beer base and very good. $19 for a mocktail is crazy though. My brother got the Cortez cocktail which was also $19. He thought it was an above average spicy margarita. Would be a fun and impressive date night! read more

loved taking my friend here for her bday, but this place is a 1 and done. it's great for a date or grab a drink with a friend. you cant expect a dinner here, but the 5 tapas or so are a nice touch. if youre expecting to bring in a big group, you might wanna rent out the place. otherwise, id still to a group of 4 or less. biggest disapointment is the fact that you no longer enter through the subway. Yup, you enter the 1 uptown on 28th, head down the stairs, and stand in front of the black door, only to be greeted with a gold sign that says to enter from upstairs at the street. what.the.hell!? anyway, you find the door directly up stairs, ring the bell, then someone comes up and lets you in. overpriced, but tasty drinks are $19, theyre made well too. i had one (tuscan leather). and my friend grabbed the el picador, which i sampled. both had a great kick, and were made well. filled to the rim too. i grabbed a regular tequila with soda after, and those are still $16. we had the ocotupus, which was 6 small potatoes topped with octopus and seasonings, on tooth picks. the char grilled flavor is stong, but we both liked these bites. the bruschetta was amazing. simple, but hit the spot - i think it was 4 pieces maybe 6? service was okay, there was only 1 bartender so drinks took a min to come out. the place had a small flow of people coming and going. its literally 1 room, maybe 500 sq foot, dark lighting with some chairs and lounge areas, little tables. loud music blasting. on a friday night the DJ was coming after 9. which they then put the chairs and tables that wer ein the middle of the place into the hallway to make room for dancing. not sure who would dance, but the option is there. end the night by exiting the dark door in the corner, into the 1 train subway station. read more

Really cool concept of being in the subway station and so many of my friends have sent this place to me so I decided to check it out one night. The entrance was super confusing at first so that took a while. I loved that we exit right into the subway station. While sitting inside, I could also see everyone walking up the station. This place was nothing special - there are definitely better speakeasies in the city that I've had a better experience at. The drinks were okay - nothing special that would make me want to come back. As for seating, we got sat smack dab in the middle of the room. For context, there were tables and chairs lining the perimeter and the bar at the back, but we literally sat right in the middle. It was just awkward for us, especially a while later when a huge group came in and just stood all around us (they didn't have a table so they stood). Overall, this is a place that I'd definitely check out but unlikely to return to. read more
I had been dying to come here since they opened last year right before the city closed due to Covid. I was on the waitlist for awhile and was super happy when I finally got in on a Saturday evening. The entrance its actually on the street where you have to ring a bell to be allowed in. Once you are inside the place its small about 4 tables and 5 bar stools in total but it has a really cool vibe. The drinks were really well made and delicious. I wasn't sure if they had food so I ate before coming here. They do sell tapas and the food smelled really good from the table next to us. The exit is a different door then the one you entered through and that one leaves you inside the 28th station. Its a really cool experience. Proud to be the 2nd reviewer for this new speakeasy. If you need a reservation for less than 48 hrs, the best way to contact them is via Instagram (@lanoxenyc). I messaged them at 11:30 am on Cinco de Mayo and got a table for the same day! We happened to be taking the 1 train from Chelsea market, so when we followed the SE exit off 28st, we saw the door with the bar's name on the side of the stairs leaving the station. It was really cool - but that's not the entrance (it is being used as an exit now, prob due to Covid). To get there from the street level, you just need to find the address of this bar (google map works wonders). After ringing the doorbell, we were led by an attendee to walk few flights down to reach the speakeasy. The space was pretty cozy, but the seats were spread out to meet Covid requirement. We chose to sit by the bar to have a more intimate experience. We ordered the Tuscan Leather and Uptown Local - the Uptown Local was very unique and definitely showcased the speakeasy's specialty. My partner thought the Tuscan Leather was good, but it wasn't anything special. They also offer food/snack, and a signature drink with their cold brew. This is definitely a speakeasy for the locals..we are lucky enough to be 4 blocks away from the speakeasy. Will def return again read more
It's always best to check out a hotspot after the hubbub dies down. Reservations much easier. The space is comfortable with parties given a two hour window to enjoy their drinks and bites. Entrance is via 28th street and exit out the door into the staircase of the subway. We both enjoyed our cocktails and wine. We pair these drinks with a few tapas. The bar staff were friendly and receptive to questions about their drink menu. read more
Overall rating: 4.4 Finally, finally a true speakeasy!! And it's legit in a subway station ! So cool. I had to knock off a few points because of the following: - soo tiny. Like kitchen in east village tiny. You cannot come here more than 3 people & even 3 people feels tight. - it's a place more for the experience, but not to hang. The drinks were goood, but because it's so tiny - you're kinda of slouching a bit to hear your friend. You're not really able to enjoy yourself. It might be honestly best as a date. My reservation was for around 8ish. But I probably won't be going again unless I was trying to flex on a date. Def worth an experience regardless. read more

Tiny (max ~ 30 people) little Speakeasy exiting into the Subway; just perfect for an after-work gathering. Secure, separate entry and exit . Beautifully appointed interior with velvety tones and low lighting; interesting reading material, eager to please staff too. Wonderful selection of craft cocktails! Expect NYC price point and you won't be disappointed. read more
Entrance was not hard to find-- on street level with good instructions on their website. Once inside, we were able to sit at the bar without a reservation. They had a coat rack for our coats which was helpful. It was unlike any other speakeasy I've ever been to-- it kind of had 60s/70s vibes as opposed to other speakeasies which hark back to Prohibition times with their decor. The drinks we got were very good and the Caprese app was delicious. You exit out into the subway station, which is cool. read more
Drinks were stellar! My bf and I sat at the bar and had the uptown local & el picador to start (pictured in the review). The uptown local is kind of like a rum based old fashioned with a whisper of pineapple. I love stirred and spirit forward beverages so this was a 10/10 for me. The el picador was subtly spicy and citrus forward. For the second round I opted for a sazerac. I saw the bartender lining up three of them on a silver platter to take to another table, so I inferred that they must be something special. I wasn't disappointed! Such a proper sazerac. Maybe the most perfect one I've had. My bf had the built for speed for his second drink and it was a little too sweet for me (had maple syrup in it) but it went down easy. The place is quite small and cutely decorated. Go on a Monday like I did and avoid the crowds. Bonus points for letting me keep their bar pen:) read more
La Noxe is a cute cocktail bar with the gimmick of being located in a subway station. As many have noted, you enter through an easy-to-miss door on 28th Street, though you exit through the station. It's a cozy space with vintage furniture and low lights. I regret sitting at the bar-- there isn't much to look at and there's a thin curtain separating kitchen, so a bright fluorescent light shone through and kind of ruined the vibe. Music was at a good volume and the atmosphere was otherwise nice; we went on a Sunday on the early side and it wasn't very crowded. We booked ahead but probably could have walked in. The cocktail list is relatively short, about 8 on offer for $18 a pop. They also had a short wine list with the typical 2-3x markup, including some $700 champagne. They also had a fairly stocked bar so could make your standard drinks. I went with the Banana Daquiri, which was tasty but definitely on the sweet side. My main complaint was that there were crunchy rose petals sprinkled on top which were not tasty at all; they mixed all around so I couldn't avoid getting a mouthful with every sip. My friend had the Tuscan Leather and had no complaints but didn't rave either. Overall, I thought the experience was fine, just overpriced and overhyped. The atmosphere would be good for a date but I didn't feel the drinks were anything special. Might be more fun when it turns into a dance party in the later hours. read more

Although I loved the music choices, I found many things about this bar fell flat: - The entrance is on the street, not in the subway like social media suggests. The exit is in the subway though - We were seated at the worst seats in the (small) house: in the center in 2 big lounge chairs. So to be able to hear each other at all, we had to lean forward on the edge of our seats the whole time. Our backs hurt after an hour. Our request to move seats was rejected - The drinks tasted great, but too sweet. Both of them (more passion more problems, and the bourbon cocktail) - Service was professional but felt lacking in any personality. Very stiff - Atmosphere looks cool at first glance but no substance - Overall, this venue seems to depend on their social media hype, and doesn't invest in the overall experience read more
