SUCH a cute little bar! Came out to "investigate" yesterday around "Happy Hour" time (note: there was no actual happy hour here) around 5-6pm on a Friday. It IS a small bar, but there were only about 4-5 folks here already, engrossed in a conversation at the bar that anyone could join. I quietly took a seat at one of the 3 tables on the plush high-top bench and the lone, friendly bartendress was immediately attentive (I was greeted the moment I stepped through the door!). Now, there's no ACTUAL liquor here, ONLY the beer and wine on the small menu, so don't try asking her to whip you up something not on the menu. Luckily for me, there was a fruity sangria special, so I opted for that, served with a decorative shark adornment and a metal straw, and was immediately given a little bucket of popcorn to accompany it. Now, this is part of the reason why I wanted to check this place out. Fresh popcorn is my weakness. Bars that give free snacks with drinks are top tier in my book. You could probably lure me into the back of a white van with a signature red and white filled popcorn bucket. So I sat, and I sipped, and I munched, and I listened to the conversation from the others, and the bartendress, god bless her, would check on my bucket and refill it any time it got low. We LOVE pocket bar!! Funnily enough, it was the first bar we stepped into after moving here. Ambiance wise it's just a tiny dim lit bar, like so many others in NYC. It has a cool wall that changes words every few minutes. I believe people can submit quotes and stuff on an app. I don't think it's run by pocket bar, it's a cool idea though. Drinks wise the wine and beer are both great. My boyfriend is obsessed with the two ciders they have, which is funny because he never really drinks cider. Every time I go I just try a new glass of wine. Always great. The thing that sets pocket bar apart from other bars is the sole bartender and the vibes she brings to the place. She's somehow able to handle about 12 different conversations at once. Every time we come she'll be talking to us, walk away for about 10 mins to get other orders, then pick right back up where she left off. if you get really claustrophobic, this is not the best bar to go to in New York. it was a cute and unique spot. The drinks were really good. We ordered a beer which was nice. The service is fast but please know because it's so small inside it is really loud and you can hear everyone else's conversations. It is really cute that they give you some popcorn to munch on while taking a sip of your drinks, but I would just come here for a casual hang out with friends. This is the cutest wine bar on the West side. It is a small bar, small enough to fit in your back pocket (bah dum tss), would maybe squeeze in 30 people tops, shoulder-to-shoulder. Cute little bar in midtown west. It's very small and can get loud in here, but the ambiance is calm and quiet with the dim lighting and simple decor. I came here with my family and we enjoyed some tasty craft beers. Our hotel (the holiday inn express midtown west) was just around the block making it super convenient to walk back. Wandering around Hell's Kitchen on a Sunday night trying to find a bar that didn't look too empty and lonely to go in to. Pocket bar is small, and very hot but it was completely packed. Luckily a couple of people were just leaving so we took their seats at the bar. We ended up staying a lot longer than expected and drinking way more as well. I got the Malbec, which was decent. My friend got an ipa, which apparently was very good. We also got the sangria, which they're apparently known for. I liked that it wasn't super sweet and super liked the shark that came in it.
