The drinks were not only stunning but perfectly balanced, especially the citrus-forward cocktails that paired so well with the seafood. The oysters were incredibly fresh and served ice cold with all the right accompaniments, making it the perfect light bite while soaking in the atmosphere. Service was polished without feeling pretentious, and the entire space had that classic West Village energy that makes you want to stay for "just one more drink." A perfect spot for cocktails, oysters, and feeling like you're in the middle of a NYC summer movie scene. Easily one of the prettiest bar experiences in the city.

In addition I had a pork chop for 36.00 that maybe consisted of 6 bites it was so small! My friend ordered the swordfish and the portion size was also a joke. In addition they overcooked it and she had to send it back, by the time it got out of the kitchen, I had already finished my entree! It cost me 83.00 with tax and tip for an entree and one drink and sharing an appetizer in 3! A total rip off and mediocre food at best. Feh! Meh! Two hours later I had to have a second dinner as I was so hungry. If you feel the need to get ripped off at this Greenwich village institution then go there! It was unbelievably disappointing and I would have asked for my money back had I not embarrassed the ladies I was with. Shame on them for charging these prices and delivering entrees that consist of small bites. And did I mention that the sound volume was deafening!!! PS- I tried to call the restaurant the next day and I could only reach an electronic greeting, no human! This added to my frustration. This establishment will need to deal with AMEX now as I've already opened a dispute. Disappointment and annoyance at every angle, no thank you!

Courtney & Lee, behind the bar, were so friendly & charming, and we ended up having a very nice conversation with them while enjoying Hugo Spritz cocktails. The well-crafted cocktails present thoughtful riffs on the classics, inventive without being showy. While the dim lighting and intimate atmosphere practically beg for a secret rendezvous (there's an ostrich involved), I met up with a friend for the decidedly unscandalous purpose of doing our intention setting for the year over libations and nibbles. I opted for a pastel sour while my companion asked for a drink called The Last Word - it was no longer on the menu but they obligingly made it for us anyway. The menu consists of mostly small plates and is seafood forward, but we shared a petite dish of steak frites, tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. Our server was very sweet but service was slow on the night, and by the time we received our utensils the food was cold. However we were not rushed and were able to linger a bit to finish our conversation. For those who savor finely concocted cocktails paired with fresh raw bar offerings in a salon-like setting, this is the spot for you.

Having said that, I was very, very interested in Dante West Village as our dinner spot. All this to say that when we stopped by at 5:30, I was very skeptical we'd get a table - especially given the throngs of people already waiting. But I was extremely pleasantly surprised when, after asking if we were both there, we were immediately shown to an amazing table outside. I'm going through a bit of a martini phase right now, so obviously I had to try The Dante Martini ("fords gin. absolut. noilly prat. dolin blanc. nardini cedro. lemon bitters"). And holy moly was it ever good. I'd rank it right up there (if not at the top) of the very best martinis I've ever had. The balance of gin to vermouth as perfect, and yeah I could've quaffed about eight of those things. For food, I opted for the Bolognese Ragu ("maccheroni al ferro") and whoa it seriously knocked my socks off. The sauce is packed full of tender, flavorful meat, which tastes as though it's been simmering for days, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. This was easily one of the best bolognese dishes I've ever had. I was quite satisfied but I couldn't not try The Dante Manhattan ("angel's envy bourbon. woodford rye. cocchi torino. mancino chinato. nocino. chocolate bitters"). I was not surprised in the least to discover just how delicious it was, and sure, I'll rank it as one of the best Manhattans I've ever had. Our server was friendly and hilarious, too, so yeah I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I wish I could go back to Dante once a week.

Though the West Village location has been open for a few years, I only just visited for the first time last weekend. Though there are some clear similarities, Dante West Village is more spacious and boisterous (a step beyond "lively" imo, which would be an appropriate descriptor for the OG), a concept that feels more curated for the area rather than being designed as an original concept. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, just useful to note if you are wondering about the difference between the two spaces. So perhaps a bit of the original charm is lost but the drinks remain classy and excellent, with martinis and Negronis a plenty. We came here at around 10:30 on a Saturday night. Though the space was pretty full, they were able to seat us immediately at the bar, which is typically my preference at mixology-driven places anyway. The cocktail menu is quite extensive which makes deliberating quite the challenge. You've got the seasonals and signatures alongside the martinis and Negronis, so there's something for everyone (like somethingS plural). I started with the Vesper Martini (brooklyn gin, vodka, mancino ambrato) which I was surprised to find was batched and poured from a bottle. It was still delicious and I wouldn't have known it was pre-batched if I hadn't seen it. Overall I'm guessing that because the menu is so extensive and martinis are easy to batch, the manual labor is reserved for the drinks that are more involved and ordered with relatively less regularity. I also ordered the Negroni Bianco (brooklyn gin, quinquina. alessio bianco, carpano dry, lemon bitters, verjus) which I've wanted to try (and also attempt to make at home) for a while now and it was exceptional. More of a summer sip but all Negronis are fair game for me all year round. I also tried my partner's Chocolate Negroni (botanist gin, campari, punt e mes, tempus fugit creme de cacao, chocolate bitters) which was also fabulous. I still don't think I've ever tried anything *other* than the classics here, but when the classics are done well, there's little better.

The bar seating was plentiful and comfortable. There is plenty of space for people to stand behind the bar or a high top tables enjoying happy hour after work. If you go at 4:30 or 5, it's a bit calmer as the after work crowd trickles in. And as the evening went on, it started to get more and more packed, and it became a really lively vibe. After my friend left for another function, I stuck around a little bit longer for a little solo dinner. I had a glass of Prosecco off the happy hour menu followed by a dirty martini, and I did request to look at their full dinner menu because there was a couple items that I wanted to try. I wanted to try the duck Ragu and halloumi cheese, both of which were absolutely fantastic. The halloumi cheese was perfectly grilled and flavorful, and the duck Ragu was very comforting. I highly recommend both dishes. I ended up chatting with a woman sitting next to me who happened to work with select apertivo, and next thing I know one of the bartenders handed me a lovely bright cocktail to try on the house. It was a refreshing bubbly Barlume spritz that I'll definitely have to get again next time. Overall, I had a really great time at Barlume. The service was excellent from the servers and the bartenders, and they were all very attentive, personable and friendly throughout the evening. I'll definitely be back for happy hour or dinner with friends!

Did you know this is where the Beecher's used to be?! RIP, I miss their Mac n cheese.... the vibe is completely different now (think extravagant Mediterranean vibes, it's very instagram-mable with the beautiful bar area). I had made a reservation for 5:30 (again, life with a baby is very different)- we arrived early but the staff were very gracious and were able to get us seated. They seated us in a side alcove area where they had cushioned seating, which was very helpful. What we Ordered: Drinks: Barlume Spritz and Hibiscus Mule (N/A cocktail)- drinks were good, nothing too special but we appreciated the cute stirrers Appetizer: Halloumi- grilled halloumi with roasted eggplant puree. The saltiness of the halloumi went so well with the creaminess of the eggplant. (Baby liked the eggplant puree too hah) Entrees: Lobster Arrabiatta and Duck Ragu and Truffle Pizza. My husband got the lobster arrabiatta and was raving about how delicious it was. He said it was the perfect level of spice. My duck ragu was served with busiate (a corkscrew shaped pasta) which I thought 'trapped' the sauce perfectly so you get a nice saucy bite each time. Pasta was perfectly al dente- my one gripe is that I felt the duck ragu was a bit too salty, which even managed to overpower the tomato flavor. We shared the truffle pizza, which came topped off with stracciatella, porcini mushrooms and shaved truffles. I liked the porcini mushrooms on the pizza, this was a first for me. For dessert (which we had to gobble down quickly because baby was starting to get fussy) we got the pistachio cake. SAVE SPACE IN YOUR STOMACH FOR THIS ONE!!! This was my favorite in the whole meal, the kataifi gives it that wonderful crumbliness and it went soooo well with the mango sorbet that's served with it. Recommend for a nice dinner with friends or a cool place to grab drinks! 4.5 stars

My friends crab and artichoke dip took a very very long time to come out, it came out after we all were almost done with our other food. Our host kept having to go check on it for her. I had the watermelon spritz I liked it, but my friend didn't. I ordered a Shirley temple that was not on the menu and I didn't like it. It did not taste like a Shirley temple at all. It tasted like sweet water. I regretted ordering it. The highlight of the day was the manager/owner sent a waitress over to our table to tell us we had to leave because our 90 minutes was over and they needed the table. This happened while we were still waiting for our dessert to come to the table, so I told her to cancel it. She said she will not charge us for it if it comes out. It did not come out and we were not charged for it. I found that to be very unprofessional and shocking. To ask someone to leave while they are still eating! Wow. Unforgivable. I would never return and I would never recommend this place to anyone.

And I'm always down to try food items. Honestly, it was a rainy cold Tues night, so we probably just coulda walked in. But we've failed in the past so better safe than sorry. I initially went to their Singapore location about 7ish years ago. I dragged the hubby on a cocktail crawl. I remember this spot being one of my favs so I wanted to visit it when in NYC. I especially enjoyed the truffle grilled cheese. I was pescatarian at the time so didn't try the marrow, but everyone seemed to really enjoy that dish. Glad I finally got to come here.
