We got some some west coast oysters which were fresh and full of amazing, briny flavor and paired beautifully with the Gruner we got. Also enjoyed their patatas bravas and grilled shrimp with garlic and chili oil. It came with bread and actually had me sated enough to hold me over until after the show. I am newly obsessed with this cosy moody spot in WV. Dennis was fantastic and so attentive and wonderful as our server. Met up with a friend here last night and think I might have found my new favorite wine bar. The atmosphere is so fun and energetic and with a reservation (since it's really hot in NYC right now) you can sit inside by the bar and enjoy the AC. To this end, do think they might need to get the AC cranked higher because it did get hot at the bar. The happy hour ends at 6P so get there early to partake of a good assortment of wine and snacks. Decent prices for wines by the glass - I regularly came here with friends after Solidcore classes a few blocks south (it's all about balance, right??) and consistently had a good time. It's one of those places that's always the right amount of busy - they'll be able to seat you, but it's never dead. They have a nice amount of outdoor seating and the service is always decent. One complaint is that they do offer food but it is very very limited so it's not the sort of place where you can really feasibly do dinner. They have sandwiches on the menu but I think they may only be offered for lunch. It's more of a like a wine and charcuterie type place. The charcuterie boards are great though! They don't change the menu frequently which I actually prefer because I'm a bit picky with wine so when I find one I like I rarely deviate. I've always been a big fan of Lelabar and the incredible ambiance, happy hour deals, and food that comes here. I've been here at least 4-5 times and each time has always impressed. A+ for consistency. Came here most recently on a Saturday afternoon at 5:15 pm for a date. When I got there the oval bar seating was 3/4 and was surprisingly packed, but we managed to get two chairs to sit at at the bar. We ordered for happy hour: one glass of rose, one glass of white, and the 3 cheese/salami board. Total bill came out at $36 tax and tip not included. AMBIANCE: Ambiance ambiance ambiance! This place is incredible! Romantic, music not too loud. Great spot to set the mood if you're going out with a special someone. Super cute decor and wood themes. I love how the bar is set up like an island with a giant circular table. There are some seating by the windows, towards the walls, and at the back hugging the wall of the bathroom, but this place is small and could pack at most ~20 people comfortably I'd say Get here early though. Lelabar opens at 5pm, and when we got there at 515pm on Saturday the bar was nearly 3/4 full! This place does get crowded and packed later during the night. Two bartenders were staffing the bar and the cheese/salami plates tonight, so they could get a little inattentive due to the crowd. PROS: I love the happy hour pricing! For $28 a bottle or $8 a glass. Four bottles to choose, two reds, one white, and one rose. I got the white and she got the rose. Wines were great, and the bartenders allowed us to sample before we ordered the drink. We also ordered the three plates with two meats with cheeses ($15). Gota total selection of seven or eight, and we got the gypsy salami and prosciutto. Those were fantastic. We got their creamy cheese which was really smooth and good. It's nice and trendy which is generally what you are looking for out of a wine bar. Personally, I don't think it stood out over other wine bars I've been to in NYC other than that it wasn't bad. It was really crowded when I went and the service was practically non existent. Really difficult to get any sort of drink. Granted it was a weekend but I am still looking for a more relaxed vibe at a wine bar and Lelabar did not deliver that at all. The simple yet classy interior sets the mood for the place. The space consists of a large oval bar serving customers with delicious food and wine. The bartenders here are hospitable, welcoming and have complete knowledge of all the wines they serve. We started off with a glass of Cider and a Rosé. We paired our drinks with their House Marinated Olives which had a delicious taste of lemon zest. With some suggestions from the bartender we were set with our next dishes. We got the Smoked Salmon which was served alongside a delectable Wasabi Oil Soy Sauce. The salmon had a beautiful smoky flavor which was perfectly balanced by the sauce. Next up was the Beet Root Carpaccio and the Truffle Toast. These were the star dishes of our night and we definitely recommend them to everyone. The Beet Root Carpaccio is served with a generous drizzle of truffle oil and crushed pistachio. The Truffle Toast is absolutely beautiful aesthetically and packs a punch of all that flavorful truffle. These two dishes are a must have and you'll surely be wanting for more. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Truffle which was basically like a cherry on the icing for our amazing experience here. read more

My experience at Lelabar was a great one. I didn't come during happy hour (though I hear the deals are great), but wanted to get a nice bottle anyway for a celebration. The bar is circular with some seats against the walls, which is where we sat. When I came, on a Thursday night, the place was quite crowded and it was a little difficult to hear my friend talk. That is my only complaint though. Next time around I'd come a bit earlier so I could hold a conversation a bit better. The ambiance here is great. The lighting is dim and it is a great place for either a date or a girls night out. The wine list was pretty extensive. It was a bit pricier than I'd expect some of the bottles to be, but definitely worth it. No matter what you are looking for, you can find it here. I didn't know what to expect when we came here one Sunday. It was empty when we walked in but got busier as we sat and enjoyed the wine. We had a great time and a lot of that had to do with our great bartender James. He knew a lot about wine and gave us a lot of good recommendations. The wine we tried was all solid and from all over. I am not normally a white wine drinker but we also liked the one he poured us. I think it was a chardonnay but not sure. The red wine was ridiculous. So good. The bar set up is a circle island style bar and it pretty much covers the whole place. They have a small bathroom in back and thats about it. They also have a small food menu with little bar snacks. Two wanted white, Lelabar's one choice for a white wine on the happy hour menu was not good. We let our server know (may have been the manager - unclear). And instead of helping figure out what would be appealing he glibly replied, "You would be the first". That matters? He did nothing, abysmal customer service. I have never seen that kind of situation handled (not handled) in that way. Maybe he needs some training? It was our first and last time there. We were visiting the City recently and meeting up with a family member before dinner...he recommended we meet at Lelabar, and we're glad that we did! Be warned, at that time/day, it's pretty hard to find seats anywhere...either at the bar or one of the few tables they have. In any event, a bar stool opened up shortly thereafter and we were able to move it to create a little seating group for the three of us. - Because service is at the bar only, we had to order food/drinks there...no problem whatsoever, and the bartenders were really helpful. - Others have mentioned the Happy Hour...it includes various wines, including some by the glass and some bottles too. We tried one of the Reds, and then ordered a bottle to share (which became two bottles a short while later...at exactly two minutes before the Happy Hour was to end). The bottles were very reasonable at $28 each. - We also got a cheese plate...I really liked the fact that we could pick the specific items on the plate from a variety of options. - Atmosphere was really comfy and relaxing.
