The wine was good, but the cheese plate was a bit disappointing (just brie, cheddar, and bleu cheese with some bread). Overall it's great for the vibe but not necessarily for the food or the prices. My friend and I stopped by Moonflower for a round of drinks before our dinner reservation last Saturday night. It's a charming, tiny wine bar that I've been wanting to visit for a while. We walked in around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and got the last two seats at the bar (in the whole bar, too). The service was great, and it was a comfortable (if packed and tight) place to enjoy some great natural wines. Didn't get to try anything here because one of the girls working was so rude that we left immediately. On 2/28 at approximately 8:00 PM, three friends and I approached the entrance. I briefly stepped inside to inquire about a table or potential bar seating, intending to wait at the host stand. The staff member on duty--who was outside serving another table--followed me in and abruptly asked, "What are you doing?" I explained that I was simply waiting to speak with someone about seating. She responded dismissively, stating, "Uh, yeah, I work here," in a tone that was unnecessarily confrontational. As someone with hosting experience at several New York City bars, I can confidently say that stepping inside to wait at a clearly designated host area is standard and entirely appropriate. At no point were we disruptive or disrespectful. The interaction was unprofessional and unwelcoming from the outset, and her attitude made it clear that our presence was viewed as an inconvenience. Given the hostility we encountered before even being greeted properly, we chose to leave immediately. It was a disappointing and avoidable experience that reflects poorly on the establishment's approach to basic hospitality. read more

Really enjoyed this cute wine bar! After a nice walk along the water with my friend, we stumbled upon this adorable spot while walking through the west village. I thought the name was so cute and we were lucky enough to grab a table outside since the inside was a bit loud and packed. I loved that they had a wine menu based on your zodiac sign! Even though I'm not really into astrology, I am indecisive so this made it easy to pick a wine! Mine was a bubbly rose and I loved it! My friend and I shared some ricotta toast with roasted cherries and the prosciutto with seasonal cherries. Both were great! I especially enjoyed the ricotta toast. Super cute, intimate wine bar. We (2 people) stopped in on a Friday night around 7pm and we are to grab a seat at the bar without a wait. The wine selection is thought out and not too expansive. I tried several glasses as well as one of the wine cocktails. Everything was delicious even if they were not as cold as I would have preferred. (It was a hot day and the fridges were probably having to work pretty hard.) We ordered the cucumber and ricotta toast plates. Both were yummy, especially the sauce on the cucumbers. The food was good but I wouldn't come here just for the food. The bartender, Jacob, was very personable and made sure we always had something to drink. The atmosphere is hazy and laid-back. Absolutely loved this little wine bar! It's a little hidden but once you step inside it's the perfect spot for a date or drinks with friends. The wines are organized based on your star sign and I thought that was a very cute idea. I loved the selection in general (had great whites options which is my go to) and the staff was great giving excellent recommendations. We also snacked on some of their appetizers. The whipped ricotta was heavenly (I did not realize cherries and ricotta were such a great match). The bread was also perfectly fluffy and crispy. The pasta was delicious though I wish it was a little bigger portion size given the price. All in all, definitely a top wine bar for me! read more

This was suuuuuch a cute place to grab a snack and a glass of wine with friends. The interior is such a vibe. From the light fixtures to the painted tables to the bathroom, the decor is so unique and homey. We got a bottle of orange wine after getting some recommendations from the staff. Our bottle was $60, which was not bad at all. There are definitely some more expensive bottles on the menu, but there are more wallet-friendly options for sure! We also got the ricotta + pear toast, which was AMAZING. The house-whipped ricotta had the softest, creamiest texture and was everything you could hope for. This is such a cute wine bar to go to with your girlfriends! The decor is extremely colorful and fun, and they have a great display of their wines wrapped around the walls. I came here with a party of 3, and I will say it's a very small place and not easy to spot. Would not recommend coming here with a party larger than 4, max. The tables are also very close together and you will hear everyone around you talking, but that's nothing new in NYC. That being said, their wines are great and they pour generously. Their food was also surprisingly good and fairly priced! We each tried a few of their orange wines, and the spicy watermelon salad was my favorite food item. What a literal "hole in the wall"! Such a cool vibe, with great wine and dim-lighting that makes you feel like you're in a movie. I'm really happy we were able to find this place! It's easy to miss as its around the corner and the door almost looks like a hole in the wall, but it is clearly labeled! When you walk in, you're almost taken to a retro vibe and it's quite small inside (be prepared to accidentally hear other people's conversations - what's new in NYC), but there's room if you go early. The decor is also really impressive and I really liked the glasses, painted tables, and light fixtures giving the interior a really inviting feeling. I was really impressed with their menu selections and I found them to be unique, wide-ranging, and pretty affordable considering. It's funny because everyone raves about their ricotta toast, but I wasn't able to finish any of it except for the fruit. It wasn't bad at all, but I think it just wasn't for me and was way too much cheese. The place gets pretty busy so I'd recommend going earlier. Really great date night place also! read more

"Chillin" A lovely wine bar in the west village that is host to a wonderful ambiance and bartender (authenticity defo supported by his granola-ness). We stumbled in here one July evening and we're left with quite the impression! Wine reqs hit hard. The music felt quite atmospheric and reminded me of my time at Nats. I can't think of another place like it (maybe Nat's). I WILL be returning, and am hopeful they will continue the legacy of good wine and fun times. read more

The space is super fun also- the restroom basically begs you to take a quick selfie. I ordered a glass of bubbly and rose, both recommended by the bartender, and they were both very yummy. Worst customer service experience I've ever experienced. A few minutes after arriving, the waitress knocked over a full glass of wine all over us, it shattered and deeply cut my friend's hand. The waitress stormed out of the restaurant and left the wine and shattered glass all over the floor, while my friend is heavily bleeding with no help in sight. Finally, we're able to get the attention of another waiter to explain what happened and ask for (at the very least) a bandaid, a new glass of wine, and for the shattered glass to be swept up from under us. The waiter almost acted annoyed at this request and said he had no bandaids - he later complained to us that he had to send one of the chefs to get us bandaids for us, as if we were at fault. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. After sharing one bottle of wine, we told the waiter we'd like to close out. He returned with a $45 bill for "half the bottle." After such a terrible experience, you would think they would comp the full (and very modest) bill at the very least. By far the worst hospitality and customer service I've ever experienced. Really hope they turn this around. read more
