My friend and I stumbled upon this place on a Friday night. There were a decent amount of tables on Christopher street - kinda nice for people watching. We went inside and were seated inside first since people were waiting for tables outside. It's pretty small inside but super cute! There's a disco ball and even the tables are covered in cute a design. The bathroom is straight inside and covered by a curtain - it was giving wizard of oz. The bathroom itself was like an airplane bathroom with the door being bendy. Since it's so tight inside this place, you're kind of in the way when standing and waiting in line for the bathroom. Service was okay. I think they are still learning the ropes and getting settled. The place was super packed so understand that it was busy. At one point in the night, servers were asking if anyone ordered a tuna tartare bechase they didn't know who ordered it. They also didn't know where our check was because we placed drink orders inside then moved outside when a table was available. We got: - spicy margarita ($16): my friend liked this - Campari spritz ($16): I wasn't really a fan of of the Campari. I should have just gotten a regular Aperol spritz I am not sure if I would come back, maybe a different drink but vibes were okay. read more

You'll find Binx sandwiched between two barber shops on easterly Christopehr Street. I found BINX on The Infatuation, fond as I am of West Village spots such as the new Fedora (under the St Jardim team) and Buvettte. Snagged a seat at the 5-seat bar around 7:15pm on Wednesday 4June2025, surrounded by 20 and 30 somethings, most of them ladies unaccompanied by fellas, as is typical of West Village spots these days. Visit Binx knowing that it is truly cozy and quirky, combining tightly-spaced tables, a disco ball at the rear of the room, oddly creepy animal light fixtures at the bar counter, and naturalistic yet surrealistic yet arts-and-crafts decor in the main room. I enjoyed the kimchi fried chicken and crab tortellini, and of course, two pours of natural-leaning wines. Ambience was a bit loud, but not unpleasantly so. Give it a try! read more

Really awesome spot with a great natural wine selection and some really exciting dishes. The oranges by the glass were great, we didn't get any by the bottle, but they too looked fantastic. The beaujolais by the glass also was truly fantastic and went so well with so much of what we ordered. The Hamachi Tostada was good, not great, but strong flavor profile and nice dish. The fried chicken was out of this world great and brought even more flavor the table. The burger was sooooo great and the fries were good too, especially with some kewpie mayo. Service was fast, friendly, and very natural wine bar-esque. It's in the West Village, so it couldn't feel more NYC. I love the vibes, you should go try it out. Admittedly I've only been on weekdays, but I think the WV is always better for going out on school nights! read more

This place was busting at the seams this last Friday evening due to the warm summer evening's beckoning to enjoy a drink anywhere outside. Binx has that, a ton of seating with little tables outside. It was like a scene from a movie! We were promptly seated despite this, but instead inside. The interior was a mix between whimsy and swank. Little animal lamps adorned the bar, flower lampshades, and a disco ball on the ceiling. Even after being swiftly ushered to bar seating, the bartender(s?) ignored our presence for quite some time. They seemed to be quite overwhelmed by the unexpected rush. After finally being acknowledged, we ordered two drinks: a glass of wine and a citrus cocktail. Both were rather forgettable. The citrus spritz had no depth of flavor outside of straight citrus and nothing else. The staff outside of the host who seated us were not particularly friendly--more distant and cold with no hospitality whatsoever. While the branding of the place drew us in (incredibly cute and moody at the same time, such like myself), the sorry customer service and less than ordinary drinks were simply not worth it. Perhaps a good option if you: a) prioritize vibes b) are able to get seated outside c) are already shmoozed and all you drink will taste the same Can't say much about the food, but what was interesting was the very small open kitchen smushed and overpacked with cooks. i went here with a big group and ordered almost one of everything, the most memorable i will list below!!! overall, it's a cute bar but it's very small! the food: you have to get the layered potato's (they're crunchy and it's drizzled with a delicious honey), the cucumbers on a bed of fresh labneh, and the house bread with butter. i wasn't a big fan of the pastas or the fried chicken. the space: small and loud the service; attentive! read more

Had an unfortunately dehumanizing experience with a blonde Caucasian hostess who was dismissive and rude and exhibited not only a couple micro aggressions but was apparently colorblind to POC or at least was profiling our party because our treatment vs everyone else's was starkly different. Our group of 3 came for drinks at opening and inquired about availability to which she didn't even bother asking if we'd want to sit inside or even by the bar lmao like bro it's 85°F out (we came for the whole experience, not to sit outside by the bush sans vibes and pay $18+ for drinks--mind you, there was only a party of 2 and no one else inside) but she directed us to take a seat outside. Hospitality was non-existent, the other guy who helped us didn't say anything after we had greeted him and thanked him for pouring water for the table. We were then taken care of by a nice server who said indoor seating was def available. So as soon as we stepped back inside, the hostess immediately batted her eyes and asked us 3 to move to a smaller 2-person table by the corner which was an extremely tight fit (and again, not a packed house inside--reservations exist but no one was pulling up. I worked in the service industry so could empathize and give grace to the staff esp if it was a madhouse inside). She then reiterated that we had 90mins. Bro, we left within 45mins and the table that seated 4 was still empty. As soon as we left, she had let a party of two white ppl (originally seated outside) sit at the table of 4, love a colorist and elitist establishment Would've stayed for another round of drinks since our 90mins hadn't been up yet but vibes were not it. Still racked a $100 bill though. To preface, I've been to Moonflower, their sister bar many times and enjoyed my experience so was excited to try this place out but bummed to have left with a shitty experience. read more

Cute place, good food & drinks. Terrible experience with one of the staff members. We were a group of 4 celebrating a friend moving into the city. We ordered several bottles of wine and full meals (apps & entrees). Our 2 waiters were great. When it came time for dessert, we ordered an extra bottle of wine and their dessert. We had also brought our friend a slice of cake from her favorite bakery too. We figured it would be ok since we ordered more items from the restaurant. Our waitress came over and let us know it was against policy to bring in outside food - she was totally respectful, and we definitely understood and apologized. One minute later this other staff member came over and started yelling at us (I didn't get his name; just know he had reddish hair) - "what do you think you're doing? this is completely unacceptable and ridiculous, we're trying to make money off of this restaurant and this is way out of line!!" We were completely taken back that this man was yelling at this table of patrons for a piece of cake (and contrary to his point, when we had spent extra $ there). Five minutes later, they sent out a free dessert, most likely as an apology for the man screaming at us after the waitress already told us the policy. Instead of the free dessert, I would have appreciated a verbal apology for the inappropriate and disrespectful behavior the staff member showed to us. We will not be returning. read more
