Quick Shots & back to touring the city! This place was a nice gem right off canal street. The atmosphere was moody & the place was vibing on a Tuesday evening. Super cool bartenders, clean, and spacious. Two shots & that's that. Tequila pour was nice & heavy. read more

Fun dinner/drinks spot! The food was good but you really come here for the atmosphere. I met two friends here on a Thursday night for dinner. We luckily had a reservation (highly recommend making one). I wasn't drinking that night but the cocktails looked delicious! For food, I ordered whatever fish entrée they had on the menu and the cauliflower side. The fish was just okay but the cauliflower was to die for. The next time I go back I might just order the cauliflower and some cocktails lol. Service was attentive but not overly interruptive. It was rather rowdy when we were there so I wouldn't really call this a good place if you are looking for a calm, quiet meal. Great place for a dinner with friends! read more

Had reservations but still had to wait 15 mins. All good because the staff apologized and even gave us a welcome bev for the wait. Front area and patio were packed at 9pm. Loved seeing the place open up in the back! It's like a speakeasy surprise! The drinks were tasty. I had a mocktail and it wasn't too sweet. My friend got the steak tartar small plate and I got the veggie pastry large plate. Though everything was meant to share we were both hungry and just ate our meals. She loved her tartar and I loved my decadent puff pastry meal. The ambiance and staff here are a big highlight and that's saying a lot since I tend to focus on food. It was a perfect spot for two friends to catch up after almost a year. read more

4.5 Stars. Creative menu that was very good but something preventing everything from being next level excellent. The leeks were serves chilled but actually got better the more i ate. Sprinkled with cheese on top the cheese was definitely needed but was a little strange pairing as well. The mushrooms were also a surprise. Grilled on skewers it tasted more like asian BBQ meat more than mushrooms. Again, not a bad thing and a surprising taste i did not expect. The star of the show was the hanger steak. Cooked with a peppercorn sauce the sauce was not overpowering but brought out the flavor of the meat. Finally, the fish was very good and cooked with a crispy crust but not overcooked. The tapenade complemented it well. New menu starts tomorrow so look forward to what is next. But appreciate that the chef is creative. read more

Had a stunning time at Soso's on Friday night. While the ambience gives bougie cocktail bar, the big booth tables are cozy, welcoming, and I was happy not to be squeezed into tiny tables as you often are at popular restaurants. We shared the house salad - citrus-y and very fresh and crunchy lettuce, the cheesy cauliflower which was maybe the most surprising and best piece of the meal, and the fries which came with an aioli to die for. Our mains were the chicken kiev (comes with a little chef's hat garnish!), and the steak au poivre. The steak was so nicely cooked and pratically melted in the sauce in your mouth, especially when combined with the fries on the side for the perfect amount of salt. The chicken kiev was lemony, fresh, and perfectly breaded. Cocktails were delicious, and service was so kind and warm, we were not rushed at all which felt like a treat for a Friday night. In a city where you could go to a new restaurant every day, this restaurant made me want to come back here many many times! read more

I liked the ambiance, it was dim lit with a lively crowd in the front, busy Friday night. As you get towards the back it's more quiet ans intimate. The music put the cherry on top. Service was timely and attentive, server was friendly. The duck was delicious! Juicy with a crispy skin. I enjoyed that meal. Waited mushroom was also a good pick. The house salad is a generous serving. Crispy fresh greens. My only complaint was the salad dressing was a bit overwhelming- like it was too much. Overall, it was a pleasant visit ans I loved that picture of the woman in the back. Private space also available. I would go again! read more

I'm usually the one in the group chat vetting the dinner spots, but I'm glad I trusted my friend's suggestion of Soso's for NYE. The space hit that sweet spot--large enough to fit a proper group of friends without feeling like a warehouse, and the seating didn't feel cramped. It's a smooth environment for a night where you actually want to hear what your people are saying, though I have to shout out the playlist. The music was really on point; it set a vibe that was sophisticated but still had enough soul to keep the energy up all night. We started with the Crab Royale and the Hamachi Crudo. The Jonah crab was paired with a red miso custard that was incredible; it was rich and savory in a way that felt more intentional than your standard seafood app. The Hamachi was also top-tier, using strawberry and chili for a balance that didn't lean too hard into the fruit. It was a sharp, clean start to the meal. For my main, I went with the Steak Au Poivre. The Angus hanger steak was cooked exactly how it should be, but the green peppercorn sauce was really the star of the show. It had that perfect peppery bite that cuts through the richness of the meat. Usually, restaurant sauces can be an afterthought, but this one felt like the main event. It was a solid way to bring in the New Year. The food is high-level, the music is elite, and the atmosphere is grown and laid back. I'll definitely be back when I'm looking for a meal that actually delivers on the hype. read more

Came by on a whim on a Wednesday at 4:30pm and were seated immediately. Classy interior with booth and bar counter seatings. Got a dozen raw oysters and the chicken liver pate, both were delicious. The jam that accompanied the pate was unique and not the sweet jam people typically think of, definitely more savory. Service was attentive. read more

I came here with some friends on a Thursday night and they were able to seat us early! Their cocktail list is extensive and I ordered the southside sour which had mint and was refreshing. For food we shared everything: Escargot (10/10) I don't typically like escargot but this was delicious and came with little baguette pieces Crab royale (9/10) really good and we used the baguettes from the escargot to dip into the custard Then it took a long time for our other food to come out so they gave us free white tea shots and added a complimentary house salad (8/10 good with a nice mustardy dressing) Chicken kiev (9/10 crispy and juicy and came with a little paper chef hat!) 4 quarter cheeseburger (8/10 the actually burger patty was okay but everything else combined was delicious!) Fries (10/10) super crispy and asked for extra aioli And then we got a Guinness sundae (9/10) not something I would typically like but the brown sugar caramel and ganache really made it good! They also added a candle for my friend's birthday and comped the dessert too! Cute interior, a little unsettling when a subway passes underneath but I'd definitely come back! read more

Great service no complaints about that at all!!! Ordered the escargot have no idea why all we tasted was a kind of curry. It wasnt curry sauce but something added threw us all off which tasted "like curry". The bread was over toasted n hard. The first bite we all took it cut our mouth. Great place to people watch will return again. Don't know if that day the food order was just off or what but it was not good read more

Came here on a Friday night and had a lovely experience! The dining area is tucked in the back and it's beautifully decorated with big cozy booths. Great spot to catch up with friends as it's not loud but there's nice music playing in the background. The staff was also super attentive and friendly. Starters: Hamachi crudo which was absolutely delicious and paired so nicely with the strawberries on top. Asparagus is an absolute must get! It's a cold dish but everything was delicious and the butter beans were my favorite part. Steak tartare was also delicious and the crunch on top adds a nice change in texture. Entree: Vol au vent was so comforting and delicious. Mallard is another must get! The agrodolce pairs perfectly with the duck and it's the perfect portion size to share. Fries were delicious / thicker cut and the garlic aioli is so incredibly delicious. Dessert: Guinness sundae was so decadent and rich but absolutely amazing. Great dessert to split and the ice cream is a nice light balance to the heavier sauces. Incredible service and food, would definitely come back! read more

I came here for my birthday this week. Not only did they charge me a $50 cake fee, they forgot about it. When they came to ask me about dessert, my friends had to ask for the cake in front of me ruining their gift. This establishment is good for a drink but better not to spend special occasions there as they aren't equipt to manage a birthday cake. read more

We stopped into this hip spot in SoHo for a drink before heading to dinner in Little Italy and were welcomed by friendly staff. Our bartender, Jesse, made the best whiskey sour we've ever had.. it was absolutely delicious! Followed by one of the best espresso martinis we've tried. jesika is an absolute fantastic bartender ! The vibe was relaxed, stylish, and chill, perfect for unwinding. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth checking out. read more

The bartender was especially nice and made the whole experience even better, friendly, attentive, and great at what they do. Stopped by for a cocktail before dinner. Dark cosy bar with a great vibe. I probably increased the average age by 50%. There were tablefuls full of women in a festive mood. The bar was comfortable. I got to watch the bartender construct a few cocktails. He was an artist- meticulous without being flashy. He made me a perfect gin martini. Apparently they serve food too. Great spot for an excellent drink in a fun atmosphere. read more

found this on Resy and so glad we came here!! food was absolutely delicious and the vibes were great. really cool cocktail/bar area in the front of the restaurant, they even have outdoor seating for warmer weather, and such a cute retro-decorated dining room area! our waitress was super friendly and turned me on to some new drinks based on what i told her i liked. the tune tartare was delish and the leeks were incredible, i miss them already. i would skip the halibut and fries - halibut had a weird flavor but would come back for the duck and burger which i wish we got!! the sundae was delicious but super heavy we sadly couldn't finish it. 100% will be coming back add this to your list! read more

South Soho Bar is the actual/full name. Cute outdoor seating and yesterday was the first day there was a breeze so it was perfect. White Russian is what we ordered. Not on the menu? No problem. Friendly and accommodating folks. One White Russian and one ginger beer came out to $27, which was really pricey if you ask me. That's where the point is lost. read more

Well funny how we came about to this spot. I was on google maps a d tried to find whatever cocktail bar we were close to and this one popped up and I also liked the name! So my friend and I said why not let's check it out! So glad we did. The outside awning is very pretty too and it looked like a cute place. We got in and found two bar seats which was perfect. I had a French 75 which was very tasty and my friend had a martini which she said was very good too. This bar was on the smaller side and had some table seating. It is mostly bar seating though. As you can see in my pictures the bar is to me beautiful. And they have all and every kind of liquor you can imagine, well so it seems! They have some bar snacks but we were only there for drinks. Tell your friends and family about this spot deff worth checking out if you are looking for a chill date night spot or somewhere to go with a friend or multiple friends. The Bartenders here are all very nice and helpful too. They answered all our questions we had. read more

came here on a weeknight after work, the bar area was already crowded, but once you pass it and into the dining room, it's spacious and artsy dining area w booth seating and a tiny bar. started w manhattan and old fashioned drinks, really like the options of different options of amaro/bitter/vermouths we can choose, I was very happy w my drink. For food to share, we had leek, I had to say it's my fav dish although I didn't order it as I typically don't like leek, the pungentness was replaced by delicious smoked vinaigrette dressing and topped w pistachio, ended up my fav dish, 4 quarter cheeseburger and escargot were typical, service was friendly and attentive. I'd revisit to try out other dishes and drinks! read more

Fabulous spot! Great service and good vibes. Great drinks. Yoki rocks. Run to this establishment!!!

Good cocktails! Small place in soho. We came during raining day and there weren't any seating and we weren't in the mood to stand, and was about to leave but the waitress tried very hard to accommodate us. She found us a table. We got a variety of cocktails- pisco sour, whiskey sour, French 75 and old fashion. Everything was made very well. They don't use egg whites instead a bean foam. It's a good alternative. The only thing is the old fashion they used lemon, which is weird, we like orange peels and no lazardo cherry. Overall, great place to grab a well crafted cocktail. read more

I volunteered at the animal shelter directly across from South Soho Bar and never realized such a quaint cocktail bar was in my midst. The decor hearkens back to the glory days of 1920s speakeasies but with a more exotic flair, like maybe a speakeasy in Havana. It doesn't feel like they're trying as hard for the vibes as other "speakeasies". We got bespoke drinks, one with a "tropical and fruity" theme, and one with a "spicy" theme. Both drinks came out delicious and on-point. The Fries and Chicken Nuggets were also crisp and satisfying. All in all, a hidden gem in an otherwise dingy, forgettable part of NYC (except for that animal shelter!). read more

Soso's This very jammed restaurant on the LES is extremely popular. The crowd is on the young side, with many diners photographing their food. The front room is extremely loud and too hectic, but the back dining room is quieter. The service is friendly and attentive. The food ran the gamut from very good (the leek appetizer and dessert Guinness Sundae), to good (the grilled cabbage and crab royale), to not good at all (the duck, which was too tough and too gamey). The cocktails were, also, just okay. Soso's was just so-so. read more

I'll start with the good. The service was great here. I also loved the decor and overall vibe of the place. The drinks were very mediocre and the food was so bland, I thought I had long COVID eating here. The chef needs to introduce acid and salt to their dishes. We had the hamachi Crudo that was so overwhelmed by the sweetness of strawberry that it was all you could taste. Then we had the escargot, which had no flavor. We had the crab...whatever that just tasted like sweet butter. And then for the main we split the steak in a peppercorn sauce that needed salt. The Guinness sundae was frostbitten and all the food was just mediocre enough that it wasn't even worth complaining about. It seemed like the kind of place millennials go to when they finally have a well paying job but have yet to develop a refined palate. It lived up to its name. Everything was so-so. read more

Came before the post-work rush and multiple parties came in after us. But for some reason we were never served beyond water even though we kept trying to order drinks & were seated at the bar. Whatever, plenty of other places to buy $19 drinks (or cheaper) read more

Great location, great atmosphere, and amazing food. Definitely have the cheeseburger. Get a few for the table.

I absolutely LOVED the decor and vibe of this bar. Just look at the pictures! The bar itself looks gorgeous and inviting. This bar has only a few booth tables and then several seats at the bar. The reason I like it so much is because of how small and intimate it is. It never got crazy busy, so we were able to sit in the booth the whole time. This bar also has an extensive drink menu. Although debatably overpriced, there are so many options. You are bound to find something you like regardless of your mood! My friends and I all really liked our drinks. read more

Fabulous meal start to finish in this beautiful spot in Soho. Our server Benjamin helped guide us through the menu start to finish. He advised that i order the old fashioned with metzcal which had a wonder smokey flavor and a huge ice cube and wonderful way to start. Then we shared the crab custard dish which was extraordinary. Benjamin told us this chef is from Australia and we loved his asian slant on so many dishes. We followed up with mushrooms on skewers with a savory sauce and pared with a great french pinot and then moved on to the cabbage and Chicken Kiev which were both out of this world. We finished with the Guiness sunday which was spectacular and then Benjamin brought us some madelines with a great cream sauce. The whole experience felt like a Micheline dining moment at a fraction of the price! Can't wait to return and follow more of Benjamins suggestions like the Hanger steak. Wonderful when a new restaurant fires on all cylinders like this! read more

Bar itself looks cool but otherwise don't waste your time. Was completely ignored here; finally ordered and the one drink never came, only a beer. We were done with this place so we asked for the check and we were charged for things we never received. They went in the back and a few minutes later did come out and comped the beer. I will not be back. There are many other places that actually make the rounds with their customers to ask if they need anything, and at $19/cocktail? Come on. read more

Firstly, Kiefer was incredible. You're the man. We were greeted with a deco exterior, nostalgic but punchy. Sexy but not overly so(so). We were transported in a reverse speakeasy of sorts, as the bar was the entrance and the party in the back was the restaurant itself. We touched down to an art forward interior, surrealist art work mingled with playful color palettes. A moment for the leeks-- exceptional. Pistachios, some type of zest conversing with salty shavings. It was cold but welcome. Made with love. The rainbow trout, where do I begin? To be frank, it was a little undercooked but they quickly took the dish and immediately gave it life and a new filet. The graciousness of the server was unmatched that I did not feel bad for asking. The king crab was foamy and soft. The flavor trumped the texture. An explosion of butter offset by a mound of crispy potato's. The martinis were as dry as we hoped and you thought we were finished but NO-- Fresh, crisp Madeline's on the house. Served with a delicate cream in an oversized shell vessel. This reminded us our time on Capri. Overall, we enjoyed it. Soso? More like...very very. read more

The food is 5 stars!! Everything was made well but not what you expect when you taste it. Service was ok, they were a little confused when it came to seating us but I'm hoping that was just a one time mistake. We got the tuna tartare and it was fresh and looked bright and colorful but it wasn't seasoned the way it is traditionally. It tasted citrusy but still savory, I'm going to guess they put grapefruit in it but whatever it was it worked! We also got the escargot and wow. Usually it's garlicky and buttery but this one also had a hint of earthy warm spice to it, but it worked! I found myself dipping the bread until no sauce was left. The chicken liver pate was made right, seasoned well, and my favorite accompaniment was the mustard sauce that came with it. I do wish the baguette was toasted however.. The mains also blew us away.. the chicken kieve... wow. Again, made well but not exactly what you expect. This might be a spoiler to some but it was chicken thigh filet attached to a leg on the bone, all breaded and fried to perfection. Soo good. We also got the ny strip and it was as tender and as seasoned as any 5 star steakhouse could make it. Even better than some. The pomme puree was also memorable. I appreciated the crunchy buttery breadcrumbs on top as well as the crunchy little chip things. It gave some chew to it as well as flavor. Definitely worth a stop! read more
