Came by to grab a drink with some friends after dinner and it is a homey type of place - cozy in a more slightly vintage American sense, with closely opposed tables, exposed brick, and simple furniture. It's not trying to be too much and there's a charm to that, too. The cocktails and wine will surprise you if you just judge the place based on appearance, and the drinks were solid and it's not a bad place to keep in your radar to stop in if you're in the area. I wouldn't say it's a destination spot if you're not already in the neighborhood, but it can be a casual cool spot to stop by - the only thing is that it was a little crowded so you can hear other people's conversation but maybe that's the vibe you're going for and that way you get to talk to strangers more. read more

Entwine is a cozy little bar in a quiet part of the city. It's probably at least a ten min walk from any subway, but if you're in the neighborhood, I highly recommend a stop by. They have two levels plus an outdoor patio. Their happy hour is great. I had a drink and a grilled cheese for a total of $21. The drink I had was the Gin Buck which was pretty good. The grilled cheese was filling for dinner. They don't have an extensive food menu however, so plan to snack on light bites here. The staff were nice and friendly. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the quiet Monday evening here. I definitely recommend coming for happy hour - $8 wines, $12 drinks and $8 light bites. I forgot how I found this place but my friends and I came for happy hour (4-7 pm). I didn't realize how far west it was; it was such a trek to get there. They have some outdoor seating. Inside there's an upstairs area and a downstairs area. Downstairs there's a bar and some tables and a couch. It's a cool vibe. What we ordered: - Aperol spritz ($12) - Spicy Margarita ($12) - Grilled Cheese: there were 4 slices, so it was more of a slice of bread with slice of cheese. - olives - Hummus: there was not enough hummus for the amount of pita they give you. Despite this being a cocktail bar, my friend and I had hot mulled cider and split the mushroom toast. The cider was good but not hot. The toast though - wow. Really generous portions with two pieces topped with delicious goat cheese and super good, buttery mushrooms. And for $12, less than you'd pay for a single piece of avocado toast at most places. The restaurant probably makes most of its profits off drinks and keeps customers lingering with the food. Anyway, I'd come back and try more of the food options for sure. This place is typical of the great NYC bar/restaurant that is quietly terrific. No big fanfare. From the outside it is unassuming, but step inside the tiny entrance, and it's charming and much bigger than you'd think. Food was good, drinks were great, and staff were welcoming. I didn't know if they could accommodate us based on the crowd as we entered, but they took us downstairs and sat us at a table. It was empty down there, but midway into our meal every stool or seat was filled. Apparently the live jazz draws quite a crowd. It's small (cozy), old (vintage), and very hip. Our appetizer sampler included hummus and baba ganoush and was tasty. My mushroom toast was packed with umami. The vegan curry was simple but hearty. My friends and I came here Tuesday night for happy hour and loved to see $10 drinks, including cocktails. I got an aperol spritz which was great, not too sweet but served in a smaller glass so I'm not sure that's really a happy hour deal. My friends shared a charcuterie board and they seemed to really enjoy it. I'm vegan so didn't participate but can confirm the cheese was real stinky. The ambience inside is really cool and unique. There's an upstairs bar that's dark and divey with a disco ball and downstairs there's another bar and seating area that feels a bit like a movie set. There was a guy working here who greeted us when we walked in and was super friendly, smiley and welcoming. I saw that they have a vegan curry bowl with a vegan label and everything. The name and categorization of said restaurant leans heavily in the direction of wine bar, but I would actually classify Entwine as a cocktail bar that also serves wine and food. I wasn't blown away by the quantity of different wines available but did opt for a glass of an interesting Gruner that I very much enjoyed. After that, it was cocktails until we left. We sat at the bar so we were able to have some 1-1 conversation with the bartender that resulted in some off-menu and very well-executed creations, so know that even if you want to play around with the drink menu or go in a very different direction, they can accommodate. For food, we hit the mezze platter hard and were very happy with that choice. The spreads were excellent and the pita was warm and squishy. I opted for a Greek salad with salmon as my main and loved it. Super fresh, and nicely seasoned and cooked salmon. I'd definitely get that again. Came here for a late dinner and were seated in the basement, which was not nearly as cute as the ground-level dining room tucked behind the bar. We shared the choice of three, brie & honey toast, and beef baby dumplings. I really enjoyed the toast and dumplings; The dumplings were legit baby-sized and were just the cutest things! But the mezze/spreads were utterly underwhelming, which was weird considering it's a Mediterranean restaurant. Clover club cocktail and manti (ground beef Turkish dumplings) were the standouts for me, but the spicy oven baked dirty potato and grass fed lamb chops were only okay. The lamb was overcooked (waiter didn't ask how we wanted it - I would have specified medium rare, but these were medium. Who errs on the side of medium with lamb chops?) and on that note the service was not great. We actually got good service from a man who I believe was the chef - knowledgeable explaining dishes, brought us things quickly - who made a few appearances. But our regular waiter kept forgetting things, didn't know details about the menu, etc. I could forgive all of that if the food was overall amazing, but it was pretty hit or miss unfortunately. 3.5 stars. read more

I came here for drinks and food, and both items were regular over priced Manhattan prices and not that great. I got the chicken sandwich with a side of potatoes, I also could've gotten the salad. The potatoes were regular and didn't come with any dipping sauce. I should've asked for mayo and ketchup. The sandwich was fine but nothing spectacular and that was $18 and my drink was $16 and basically tasted like a vodka pomegranate drink nothing spectacular. I'm so glad I stumbled upon Entwine on Yelp. I was looking for a venue to host a bridal shower that would provide a private space without totally breaking the bank. The bride-to-be is incredible easy-going, so we really only needed a comfortable low-key place with good food. After contacting various venues across lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, Entwine seemed to be the best option. I stopped by a few times for happy hour and I fell in love with the ambiance.
