The Highlights: * Polpo (Octopus): This was the standout for me. The octopus was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of saltiness and it paired beautifully with the creamy potatoes underneath. A very well-balanced dish. * Salad: Sometimes simple is best. The greens were incredibly fresh and the dressing was light and balanced--not overpowering at all. * Classic Tomato Spaghetti: You can always judge an Italian place by its red sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, staying true to the traditional Italian style. It was simple, fresh and deeply satisfying. * Chicken Dish: The chicken was surprisingly tender and juicy. It's often a basic choice but they executed it perfectly here. Overall: Naked Dog offers a cozy atmosphere with food that feels both elevated and comforting. Whether you're a fan of seafood or classic pasta, you won't be disappointed. I'll definitely be coming back!

Ambiance was very romantic, modern and airy. One of the few tapas places in NYC that remind me of the delicious dishes I had experienced in Barcelona so was happy to be bringing my boys here to experience it. We ordered a bit of everything from the entire menu and really enjoyed them all but highlights for us were the creamy dreamy beef tartare, the slightly briney white anchovies, frizzled artichoke hearts, and tempura cod w/ a sun choke puree. Of course the Iberico ham was also steller. Great place for an intimate date night or for a group too. We will definitely be back.

While the chef selects which tapas come out, they were able to accommodate our request for two specific tapas which was nice. The paella was a generous portion for two. We loved the octopus and iberico, but honestly, all the tapas were delicious! The only downside during our stay is we had a reservation but we came right after the World Cup game had ended. So there was only one available table for us which was crammed in a corner. It was also very busy, so service was a bit slow that day.

What drew us in was their happy hour, which is decent. A few bucks off their signature cocktails, beer and wine until 7 pm on weekdays. We were also their for Focaccia Friday, which was tempting but with Chrissy's around the corner we had our eyes set o the prize. I had two palomas while I was there which were really delicious and strong - kind of shocking for being a premade draft cocktail if I'm honest. I moved on to their elderflower spritz afterwards which was tasty, but one thing that was confusing to me is the upcharge for a spritz version of their apertiv offerings. The upcharge for a splash of soda water and prosecco seems steep to me but in the trendy part of Brooklyn I guess makes sense.

Given my difficulty finding decent Mexican food in Manhattan, Falansai was a welcome surprise…read more I'm well versed in Mexican food and reasonably familiar Vietnamese cuisine, but I really wasn't sure what to expect from Mexican/Vietnamese food. If what I experienced at Falansai is any indication, we've really been sleeping on a winning combo. Although there's not a lot of direct crossover in terms of common dishes and staple foods, the two cuisines are very harmonious. (Maybe it shouldn't surprise me, since both use a lot of pork, cilantro, lime, rice and chili.) Falansaj has an incredible tasting menu (Dac Biet) and a well-curated wine selection, both of which are well portioned and reasonably priced. My wife and I enjoyed everything we tried, and didn't leave hungry (or sober). Definitely worth a try, despite the difficulty of actually getting there.

The fusion also didn't really make sense - most of the dishes tasted either Vietnamese or Mexican and not really a mix of the two. Everything came with a tray of salsa verde, ginger hot sauce, salsa macha, and pickled onions and jalapenos to top with. The small plates were mild in flavor and needed the toppings. Costra tacos - a bit odd, not my favorite. They were pretty sweet due to the squash, but were better with a bit of salsa matcha. End of summer vegetables - corn, enormous pieces of kale, carrots, and a few other veggies I couldn't place in a coconut curry type broth. Mild in flavor, and would have been a nice side dish but ended up being too similar to the curry. Red curry - a variety of vegetables in a Thai red curry type sauce, served with rice on the side. The fried turnip cake option has a block of turnip cake which is soft almost like mashed potatoes on the inside and lightly crisp on the outside. My partner seemed to like the carnitas plate, but felt the rice was unnecessary. I felt there were good flavors in the main course, and the portions in the curry and vegetables were pretty large. But the vegetable dish was too similar to the curry, and the costra tacos didn't quite land for me. The cost worked out to $145, which is fairly expensive.
