Steak frites and eggs - fries not pictured.
Darlene T.

Stopped in for brunch and was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was! The cinnamon snail was outrageous- definitely big enough to share. I got the steak frites and eggs. The steak was really good quality and perfectly medium rare. My boyfriend ordered the ricotta scramble, which was creamy and came with prosciutto and toast. We also got a Passionfruit Bellini and that was dangerously good. We sat in the outside area and it was really nice. Our server was great, no complaints.

Branzino, dry age steak.

I went once for the burger and brunch, but this time, i went back for dinner. My goodness. The staff, phenomenal (although we were pretty giddy from the start). When we ordered our second round of Razor clams, the chef brought them out on a platter to show his gratitude. I cannot recommend the taste and vibe here more.

Tried and failed to get in here once before, but this time we arrived right when they opened at 5 PM on a Friday and there was no wait. Sat outside and ordered: + Dirty gin martini + Mezcal martini + Chips and ham + Caesar salad + Sweet corn agnolotti + double cheeseburger + Sticky toffee date cake with malt ice cream The burger and dessert were my favorites, followed by the pasta and chips and ham. The caesar was good but a little too salty. Drinks were decent, not amazing. Will be back for the burger and desserts! 4.5 stars.

TLDR: we FINALLY got a walk in on a Wednesday at 5:45pm. I heard another two party say the same thing. The food is between a 3.5/4 depending on what you order but all you NEED to try here is the double cheeseburger and fries. SETTING: we live 10 mins walking distance away and have called at least 5x since opening to ask about the walk in situation (once even trying to stop by). Every single time the answer was either "the waitlist has closed for the day" (even when calling at 5:15), or "there is a two hour + wait but no guarantee we can get you in regardless". The hype around this place was REAL. Finally got a walk in at the bar (though they also had tables) on a summer Wednesday. The restaurant itself is pretty nondescript- modern, pretty tightly packed tables, filled with people and busy. Good for any kind of meal. FOOD: we ordered the oysters ($48 for 12), the burrata with peach vinaigrette, the black bass crudo, the double cheeseburger and agnolotti with summer corn, and a side of fries. None was memorable other than the peach vinaigrette which was super fresh, packed with flavor and a great compliment to the tomatoes and burrata and the cheeseburger/fries. Everything else you can live without/nothing to really write home about. We were in and out in under 90 minutes. It was only when uploading pics for this review that I even remembered we also had the tuna cracker which was forgettable. We might have just ordered the wrong things as I saw the ceasar which looked great and the chips and ham. SERVICE: the service was great but a bit disjointed. As other reviews mention, they run the food whenever it's ready meaning we got the black bass crudo and burrata before the oysters, then the fries before the burger. The staff is very nice and attentive always refilling water and clearing your space. VERDICT: I really can't believe people used to wait in line for hours just to get into this restaurant. It is definitely a solid addition to the neighborhood, with fresh seafood options but they're not exactly blowing you away with creativity or flavor. Though it was a good meal, for $250 (not including tip), I likely won't need to be back.... Other than when I'm craving a burger that isn't from 7th Street.

Carajillo Martini and cocktail - A dark cocktail in a stemmed glass and a light-colored cocktail in a tall glass are positioned on a white table near a window. The sunlight streams through the window, illuminating the drinks and casting shadows. Potted plants are visible, with one large plant partially obscuring the view outside, which includes trees and a clear sky. The scene suggests a relaxed setting, possibly in a restaurant or cafe.

Chic spot with great cocktails, wine, and a standout burger Visited The Snail in Williamsburg with a friend, which is not far from the the Nassau Ave G stop and near the northwest side of McCarren Park. They don't take reservations, so we arrived a little before 6pm and had about a 15-minute wait. While waiting, we ordered cocktails--the Carajillo Martini (small but delicious) and one of the fruitier Vodka options. The space has a modern, stylish vibe with a comfortable, slightly upscale feel. It wasn't overly loud, though the tables are fairly close together. We ended up getting seated at the bar, which is quite large with high, comfortable chairs--honestly a great spot to dine. We started with the escargot (excellent) and both had the burger and fries. I also had one of the chilled red wines with dinner--there's a nicely curated wine list, and the bartender was helpful in making a great selection. The burger was outstanding--juicy, flavorful, and very filling. The table next to us ordered the Caesar salad and a dessert, both of which looked great, so I'd love to go back and try more of the menu. Not the cheapest dinner, but definitely worth it for a well-executed meal and a cozy, stylish atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive throughout.

Escargot - A white plate holds roasted garlic cloves with charred skins, accompanied by a long, crusty breadstick. The table features a glass of water, a bottle of water, and various jars and herbs in the background, indicating a dining setting with a cozy ambiance.

Fabulous food and exquisite cocktails living up to all the recent social media buzz. I highly recommend the burger and any pasta. Overall a great dining experience made possible by their entire staff. A must visit if you're in the area. We got super lucky Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm walked right in zero wait compared to just a week prior having been informed at least 2hr wait.

Fluke Ceviche - A seafood ceviche is served in a scallop shell, topped with chopped green herbs, likely chives. The shell is placed on a white plate with a bed of salt or ice underneath. The dish appears fresh and is presented in a minimalist style, emphasizing the seafood and garnishes.

Walked in on a Sunday evening around 9:30pm and was able to get a table in a few minutes! It was a nice outdoor set up with the windows within the restaurant opened as well. Steak frites, morels pasta were delicious and we had a strawberry and creme dessert. They have an expansive wine menu as well. Although a bit pricier on the $90/pp side (2 drinks per person), we enjoyed our Sunday summer evening dinner at The Snail.

Steak and eggs

Here's a polished review you can use: I recently dined at The Snail and had a really great experience overall. The steak and eggs were absolutely fantastic--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Caesar salad was also a standout, fresh and well-balanced with just the right amount of dressing. The atmosphere and service made it a spot I'll definitely be coming back to. If I had one critique, it would be that the French fries came out a bit cold, almost like they weren't freshly made. Also, I'd love to see escargot available to order at all hours of the day--it feels like a must-have staple for a place like this. Overall, a great meal and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Burger - A cheeseburger features a beef patty with melted cheese, topped with sliced pickles, cucumbers, and a creamy sauce. It is served on a toasted bun, with additional toppings visible. The burger is presented on a white plate, with a background of a dining setting including utensils and glasses.

LISTEENNNN FOLKS. Hate to do it, not feeling this one. Not BAD, but NOT LONG WAIT WORTHY. The staff is awesome, literally so friendly. Great atmosphere, could definitely knock back a few martinis or unreal Root Beers (yeah I said root beers). But the food, quality, fine, but left me wanting more. Maybe I'll go back, unlikely. But you should give it a shot.

I have been so excited to try the snail, and finally had the opportunity to. For a party of 2, the wait at 5pm (after we waited about 20min to put our name down) was about 2 hours. Not the end of the world, there are some good spots nearby to grab a drink while you wait! Highlights: 1. The burger was just as good as the hype - soooo juicy and flavorful 2. Fries and aioli - while they didn't come with the burger, the fries were perfectly crisp and aioli delicious 3. Ham and chips - such a simple dish but really fun idea Lowlights: 1. Lamb tartare - bit of a miss for me, I expected a bit more flavor and it was heavy on the olive 2. Escargot - for the namesake, I was expecting better, the bread was pretty hard too 3. Octopus Gilda - was expecting a bit more Octopus given the price of the add on 4. Service felt super rushed - the escargot, ham chips, and lamb tartare all came out at the same time, which was difficult to manage while eating at the bar While I was glad I came, I don't think I'd wait as long to dine here again. That said, the burger and fries were really good, so maybe if there is a minimal wait?

crab pasta! - A white, round plate holds crab pasta garnished with chopped herbs, likely chives, and coated in a light sauce. The dish is placed on a dining table with glasses of water, a lemon wedge, and a candle in the background, suggesting a restaurant setting.

Made plans to come here on a Friday evening with one other person. They don't take reservations so you have to go early to put your name on the waitlist. My friend went around 4:30 and unfortunately I did not get there in time as they require everyone to be present when you are seated. So we had to wait an hour and 45 min. There are some bars in the area where its easy to grab a predinner cocktail so its really not the worst thing! Overall, thought this spot was solid! Our waiter (kenan i think) was AMAZING. Great energy and some of the best service i have had in a minute. we had an appetizer prior to getting seated elsewhere so we did one app, two mains and dessert. It was the perfect amount of food. the food is typical french american bistro fare but with a slight twist and i was pretty impressed with it all. the escargot was great and comes with nick and sons bread, the crab pasta was super light and fresh, and the burger was also solid. The sticky toffee date cake was very good as well. Warm and crispy edges on the cake paired with the hot toffee sauce and cold ice cream was perfection. Believe it was around $70 per person with drinks which is typical for the area imo. The menu isnt too big but I definitely want to come back to try other items! big windows here perfect for the upcoming sunny days!!!!

Yams w/ ricotta and chili oil - Roasted sweet potatoes are sliced and topped with chopped nuts, possibly almonds or peanuts. They are placed on a bed of smooth mashed potatoes, with a reddish-brown sauce drizzled around the dish. The presentation is on a white oval plate, with a metal container partially visible in the background.

You know the drill. Show up early, wait in line and be prepared to eat dinner at 5pm. We got here at 4pm on a Saturday and were the third ones here. The previous Saturday we got here at 5:30 and the wait was 3.5 hours. They mostly have two tops, a few four tops and plenty of seats at the bar. Your best bet is to come as a party of two and definitely do not try to come here as large group. As far as the food goes, everything was incredible. We ordered the burger, fries, yams with chili oil, black bass crudo, lamb tartare, and agnolotti. We washed this all down with martinis and added the octopus gilda for good measure. You should definitely come here, it's worth the wait. And come hungry, you'll want to order everything.

Chocosu - A slice of layered cake featuring black and white sections is presented on a white plate. The cake has a dark base, a middle layer with a lighter filling, and a top layer covered with black powder or dust. A glass of water is positioned behind the plate, and a person in a black top is visible in the background, along with other diners in a restaurant setting.

The restaurant is walk-in only, so I'd recommend arriving around 4:15-4:30 to wait in line. My party arrived at 4, and we were first in line. They only have 2 tables for large parties, so if you have more than 4 people in your group, definitely try to be at the front of the line. In terms of food, the meal was decent but definitely did not meet my expectations. The oysters were mediocre and not cleaned well. Our appetizers were probably the best part of our meal. We got the brussel sprouts and squash. The brussel sprouts were very flavorful. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the chili oil in the squash, but some people in my party loved it. The burger was average. Though I didn't try the streak frites or crab pasta, the members of my party that did order then did not seem too satisfied (portion sizes were also small). The date toffee cake was fine, but some people thought it was too sweet. The chocosu was OK as well but a really dry for a tiramisu. Overall, while the experience wasn't bad, much was left to be desired. I'm unsure if I would return especially for the wait and prices.

The Highlights: * Polpo (Octopus): This was the standout for me. After having a tough time scheduling via email, I was put in touch with the manager, Jordan, who was helpful! We had 3 people in our group who wanted non-alcoholic wine pairings (two sober people and one pregnant person) and we were told they would accommodate us. I also informed Jordan of the allergies in our group. One person was dairy/gluten free, and two others had shellfish allergies. She assured me this would be no issue. We arrived on time yesterday, and everything went downhill from there. First, our waiter seemed to hate us from the very start. He introduced himself, asked who the birthday people were (and then didn't say happy birthday), and then said all of us would be having non-alcoholic drinks. When we said that only 3 people wouldn't be drinking, and the rest of us were going to (hopefully) be consuming regular wine, he rolled his eyes and told us "that's the note he received." Then, a woman came from behind the bar and said she would help us for now but "she's really supposed to be behind the bar." Every single time the waiter came to our table, he asked us who was drinking alcoholic drinks and who was drinking non-alcoholic drinks. He couldn't remember the 3 N.A. people after 6 or so courses and pairings. We were one of two tables in the entire restaurant. Singling out sober people consistently for 3.5 hours is....a choice. The first wine pour occurred and several people at the table were skipped. When we asked for those people to get their pours, the waiter inspected their glasses to ensure that they hadn't already been poured and wanted more wine. You mess up and were accused of trying to sneakily get more? Offensive and awkward. Our first course came out 20 minutes after our wine. It was a really nice charcuterie board with an assortment of cheese, jam, honey, and meat. It was beautiful (and the best part of the entire experience), however, because it was one large board and not a few smaller boards, we actually had to stand up and bring the board from one side of the table to the other in order to share. Bizarre. What is even more bizarre is that it came with no crackers. 25 minutes after the cheese and meat was served, we received crostini which was good, but 25 minutes too late. Our next course was more bread with cheese. Then, marinated mushrooms in an endive cup. Then, a salad. Not clear why the salad came 4th and my guests started to grow concerned (as did I) that we would never get a hot food course. While the courses and wine were served, NEVER ONCE did anyone tell us what wine we were drinking or why they paired the wine with the course. Additionally, when we asked what course was coming next or how many were left, no one knew the answer. At this point, we had been there 3 hours and wanted to leave. My guests were literally planning where to go out to eat after this so they could feel full. We asked what was coming next and if we could potentially speed up the service, they told us again that they didn't know. Finally, hard roast beef sandwiches came out along with chicken bites that allowed each guest to have a single bite. One waiter told us they were buffalo bites, another told us they were soy glazed. I think they were soy glazed? I guess I'll never know. They were dry with no dipping sauce. IMPORTANTLY, when serving the chicken bites to our gluten free guest, the waiter told her they were gluten free because "the fryer they use is so hot it burned the gluten off." When she politely said that's not how it works, he rolled his eyes and walked away. It's a MIRACLE no one in our group was served something they were allergic too. I guess it's a good thing much of the food never came. Desperate to leave, we asked them to give us back our dessert we brought (cupcakes) and to get us the check. At this point, I was fighting tears. I was embarrassed that my entire party seemingly had a bad time and that we were being treated so poorly. The hostess seemed to recognize how upset I was (despite me trying to hold it in) and offered us an ADDITIONAL COURSE. I told her thank you, but we cannot spend another hour and a half waiting for it (we left before the last course, I have no idea what it would have been or how much longer we would have to stay for two more courses). They ended up giving us $100 off which was a nice gesture but truly insufficient to remedy what was a really embarrassing experience. Gratuity of 20% was mandated despite the unacceptable service and I didn't fight it. I just wanted to get out of there. I toured this place as a potential wedding venue for my upcoming wedding and was very close to booking it. I'm grateful to have had this experience to easily rule it out. TLDR - This place is not equipped to handle a large party or any party at all. The staff needs immense training or someone could be seriously injured.

Bouquet is a small business that hasn't promoted much on Instagram or Eater, so it seems to have gone under the radar. I'm hoping I can do it justice as the first reviewer on this platform. We stumbled upon Bouquet during a mini bar crawl in Greenpoint. We initially planned to hit a few spots, but ended up settling in here for most of the night. We were mostly served by Eric who I believe was the owner operator. He's a NYC native who is super passionate about wine. The wine bar focuses on natural wines and other wines which emphasize minimal additives. The goal here seems to be to sell from producers who try to capture magic in a bottle. The wine list is three pages, so it's long but still approachable. There are about ten wines available by the glass. I started with a Montelpuciano. I sampled a bit and found it to be gassy and funky. The bartender was receptive to my feedback and made another recommendation - a different wine from the Loire Valley. The second option was more of what I was looking for. It was a more structured wine with a more traditional palate. I decided to eventually circle back to the Montelpuciano for my second glass. I'm stubborn and like to give a different flavors a chance to grow on me. I'm a person who doesn't like blue cheese but continually tries it just to make sure. The aroma of this wine was minerally. The best description I have is an Iron adjacent smell. Almost like blood but not the same. The flavor was earthy and rooty. It was the best part of the wine. It had a short finish. I'm no wine expert, but I can tell I was tasting something special. The last time I had wine like this was at a wine making competition. I also tried some of the wine on draft. It was an easy going wine that you could easily have a few of. We didn't have any food, but it seemed like the signature of the menu was their smash burgers. They also had some small bites like fries, cheese, olives, charcuterie, and salads. The other big items were schnitzel and the Rigatoni Alla Vino. The operator said the Rigatoni was an ode to a dish from Don Peppe's - a locals' favorite Italian restaurant in Queens. The space is welcoming. It part of the new wave of wine bars that aren't stuffy. It's about trying fun and experimental wines. Young stuff. Not necessarily hawking out for carefully aged vintages. It's fun and the team is very hospitable. Music is what I'd expect from a Queens local. Lots of 90s and 2000s hip hop. Playlist was filled with A Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, and Common. They have some big speakers and turntables for vinyl records. They had a new record from Future which I suppose is something to boost for audiophiles. Acoustics here were as good as any listening lounge that we've been to in NYC. Entertainment wise, they have some board games behind the bar. No TVs inside the bar, but they have a projector in the backyard which can be used for special events. Two gender neutral restrooms. The one I used was handicap accessible. There is a step to enter the establishment, but they have a button to press in order to request assistance with entry. Good luck to Bouquet! They'll certainly be my go to for wine in Greenpoint.
