I've been slowly chowing my way through all the oyster happy hours the city has to offer. When I found myself galavanting in Bushwick on arguably the coldest day of the year, Ten Bells popped up as a natural haven where I unwrapped myself and indulged in my favorite food of the season. Right off the bat, the bar area is absolutely gorgeous and meets you with so much warmth, light and joy as soon as you walk in to this establishment. I plopped myself on the bar and had the pleasure of making conversation with Elouise and Alejandra. They put in my standard two dozen oyster order and paired my platter with a glass of the happy hour white wine which happens to be their house chardonnay. The oysters were delicious although I must say there was a lot of shell pieces inside, which was very annoying to eat. I don't think this is necessarily the fault of whoever is shucking them. I noticed the oysters they serve have a lot of thin slivers of shell on the edges which are bound to end up in your mouth. Perhaps they can try serving another variety of oysters? Just a thought. The chardonnay was pretty good and service was amazing. The girls at the bar also let me try the Ten Bells red wine which is produced specially for them in Boudreaux, France. It was a beautiful, light, and smooth red blend. As a wine lover, I will definitely be back to try more of their wines on tap. Came on a weekday for happy hour. There was indoor and outdoor seating (both in front and out back). Sat out back which was nice. Got wine which was good and guest got tequila. Oysters were $1 each which was great price however, they were not the best or worth ordering again in my opinion. Wings were also not something my guest enjoyed. Service wasn't bad but always wasn't super busy. Staff were attentive though. Not sure I'd want to return to try more but maybe experience might be different for others. read more

What a disaster. Walk in around 8:30 pm got seated right away. Service was terrible in general no hospitalilty or welcome more than arguing...orderd oysters came super quick- soaked in water instead ice . Second glass wine had to remain them . Ordered mackerel in can took forever- just bc I substituted crostini for actual bread that what served told me . Sever came drop check for 200 $ I told him is not mine , a few second after another check I'm like I'm still eating oh you have to close - excuse me no tell you and I'm still waiting on second glass wine . Original sever came and rather apologize was like or there was table before you etc ..... my mood changed I asked for check and was told " I got you "- nothing comped to make it up and he selected 22% tip option on Toast handheld when I pay . I had been to the LES location first before trying the bushwick one and I feel like the LES location is much more rowdy. I think it's better as a happy hour spot than an actual evening wine vibe but that may just be me. The oysters are good and I happened to try the octopus as well which was SUPER good. It's a huge space and is definitely well suited for large groups. I personally wouldn't say it's a date spot because it can get loud sometimes but choose your own adventure! read more

Went here for happy hour and had a great time. The food was all super good. The octopus and the tartare were definitely the highlights. The happy hour isn't a ton of items but I'll definitely be back to order a few oysters for $1.50 each and glasses of wine for $7. The menu as a whole was pretty well priced--me and my mother were able to have a full meal for around $100 (including 3 drinks). The servers were all great and gave helpful suggestions. I forgot to post this but better late than never. It was a beautiful summer day so my friend and I ventured into The Ten Bells. What a lovely wine bar with its French inspired atmosphere. It's really a beautiful space. We wanted oysters but unfortunately they were all out so we ordered the tinned sardines which comes with crostini. My cocktail of choice was the Blood Orange Paloma. I came here with a friend on a Tuesday night for their oyster happy hour. $1.50 oysters between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. (as of July '25). We sat at the counter seating facing the wall, but there are quite a few booths/tables. The oysters were a bit small, but tasted good. They were served with lemon and mignonette sauce. We also ordered the hummus, which was served with crostini. Service was good at first, but after a while, I felt as though we were forgotten about. Overall though, it's a nice bar. read more

Bushwick is definitely the new hip neighborhood in Brooklyn. I got to spend some time here on my last visit and it definitely made me feel like I was back in Williamsburg circa 2010. I'm familiar with the original LES location of Ten Bells so when I saw this was near the apartment I decided to come have dinner here. And wow! I loved it so much. It's legit, even better than the original location! Because it's spacious and sexy and the food is better while the wine is still excellent. If you look up my review of the LES Ten Bells you'll see I question how that place got cited as the best bar for a first date when it's dark and grungy in a bad way and the service was mediocre and the food was just ok. Super cute spot in Bushwick! My friend and I came here last night before seeing a show at Company XIV. The vibes were dark and cozy and it was great for girls night, but also would be perfect for a date. The menu is tapas style, so we shared the caesar salad, the charcuterie board, and the hummus. I thought the caesar was ok, but definitely was too strong on the anchovy. I loved the hummus and the charcuterie was good, but I could have done with a little more cheese to balance all the meat. We split a bottle of sauvignon blanc and it was perfect. I loved this spot and would come back to try other food options and try other things on their wine list! We shared approximately 20 oysters, papas bravas, 2 wine carafes (they're in cute little Erlenmeyer flasks - my little STEM heart was so happy), and artichoke salad among 4 of us. I had passed by this place a few times but this was my first time going inside. It has an elegant ambiance.. dimmed lighting and tasteful music playing. I sat at the bar which is right by the entrance. It was not busy so I was attended to right away. I came only for the happy hour oysters and ham and cheese croquetas. The oysters were small and fresh but I think they could do a bit better cleaning the shell after shucking them. I found myself biting into pieces of the shell.. which if you know you're supposed to swallow oysters whole. Thank goodness I was careful. This is one of my favorite wine bars in the hood. I love that it's spacious, has a huge outdoor area, bar and booth seating as well. They have a great happy hour on a Saturday (and I believe during the week as well). It's a perfect spot for a quick meet up and for a conversation with friends (it can get a bit loud). The Ten Bells' first location has been open on the Lower East Side since 2008; this Bushwick one is new. I came here with 3 friends on a Sunday and enjoyed the experience overall. The place is dimly lit, and stylish but not fancy. We shared some wine, which was great, and $1.50 oysters, which were not. They were quite briny and had small pieces of shattered shell in more than a few bites (a result of improper shucking). Still, not bad for the price point. My favorite aspect of the menu was the nice variety of tinned fish. You may be thinking, why would I pay for a can of fish at a restaurant, but it's quality stuff, and they serve it with really good bread and butter. A perfect pairing for biodynamic wine or their "Damn Good Martini", which lived up to its title. Downsides were the elusive service, and my friend's Rum Boulevardier, which tasted exactly like Robitussen. We both love all the ingredients in the drink-Smith & Cross Jamaican Rum, Forthave Red Aperitivo, Dolin Rouge-so the ratios must have been way off. read more

Been here twice in the last week. I used to go to the Lower East Side Ten Bells 10+ years ago. I liked it, but didn't love it, and it was a little run down and cramped. This location is new and beautiful, including a fantastic back yard. Wine list is great. The draft cider was solid...dry but not too funky. The white was not what you expect for Chardonnay, in a good way! The rose was terrific. Quite viscous and minerally. Not Provence but just as good. Happy hour is ridiculously good deal. Service was outstanding; super attentive. Sometimes people on Yelp say, "I really wanted to like this place but..." this was kind of the opposite for me. I was kind of rooting against this place, being a Manhattan bar and all, and didn't expect to enjoy it...but this gets the old school Yelp 5 stars: as good as it gets! This is a good spot to hit up post Company XIV... which is what we did. It was late on a Tuesday night and we were just appreciative of The Ten Bells being open, given the pandemic and so many businesses temporarily closing or changing their hours, etc. We were inebriated and hungry. And vegan. Not always easy, but they have a couple tapas and started with the patatas bravas. Well! We liked them so much we ended up placing a second order and devouring that as well. Naturally there are well-curated lists for wines and I had a very interesting sparkling wine that tasted unlike anything I've had before. They list three sparkling wines but I believe that evening only one was available (I wish I could remember what it was)... it had an almost sour taste and I liked it enough that I went for a second glass! Finally, what made the night extra awesome, besides our cozy circular booth and the inviting atmosphere, was our really nice server. He was helpful with the vegan suggestions as well as drinks. I feel like we could have stayed until closing but with work the next day this was sadly impossible. Finally, I end with a plea to add a couple more vegan options. With so many fine vegan cheeses out there locally, this would be a welcome addition. Bushwick has become quite the mecca for good vegan options these days! read more

If we had experienced the happy hour, it probably would have been a four star. Coming for their regular hour wasn't worth the price we paid. The restaurant was airy and spacious. I absolutely loved the dark wood themed seatings out front in the bar area. However the drinks, appetizers and service were subpar at best. The $6 shishito peppers had 4 pieces - averaging $1.5 per pepper. I know inflation had hit us hard but chewing on one pepper is like chewing on a dollar bill. The service was extraordinarily slow. We had so much trouble getting attention to pay. Granted, it was around 8pm and probably the busier time for them, but no one should be left unattended. That being said, the happy hour deal looks like a steal. Would still be interested in checking out the happy hour deal, but absolutely never return for regular hour meals. read more
