Joy Z.

Came here with a group of 5 for lunch after months of trying to grab a res. The interior is quite modern and chic. We pretty much ordered everything on the menu and most dishes are quite complex and refreshing. The steak and chicken are quite good. The service was fast and friendly. The whole experience did not stand out to me that much compared to some other restaurants of such fame.

Sarano beans
Serena X.

Waited in line for just a little over an hour to get on the waitlist, about the first 6 people got seated immediately before reservations began. We got the fennel and Asian pear salad to begin, which was refreshing and acidic but a bit too oily for my liking. A surprising standout dish were the sarano beans - it was warm, brothy, and very comforting. The tripe was a really interesting mix, and the I loved the contrasting texture of the large croutons. We also tried the skate wing and seafood rice, which were both also good! I also tried the sticky toffee pudding which was was extremely excited for, but just found it a little too sweet. However, the service was extremely good and attentive - never noticed my water being empty!

Just incredible. Master move was to come for lunch on a Friday, much easier to get a spot. We tried a bunch of things from the menu of the day - the mushroom in puff pastry was my favorite. Loved the wine selection and pavalova! I'd gladly come back here anytime

Beets + La Tur
Vishnu G.

Super interesting. The vegetarian options are quite limited, but I liked what I had. I was seated at the bar right away, but have seen super long waits when I've tried to go here in the past (1+ hours) so I got very lucky. The beets are soft and have some deeply caramelized notes. They're in a sauce that's mostly brown butter, balsamic vinegar, and some herbs. It pairs really well with the earthy beets, bringing some intensely rich, toasty, tart, and slightly sweet flavors. The la tur cheese alongside is incredible: funky, savory, creamy, and fresh from the scallions pressed into the side. The bread with cultured butter was great by itself - chewy and nutty, with tons of developed, complex flavor. The bartender recommended the bread with the beets because it's also great for mopping up the sauce - which added a whole new dimension. I had the sticky toffee pudding at the end. The whipped cream on top was light and fresh, complementing the rich and slightly spiced toffee cake. It's surrounded by a slightly tart and sweet caramel sauce, and topped with a healthy pinch of salt that really pops through. The bill came to $72 with tax and tip. A bit on the expensive side, but definitely worth it.

Chicken

Delicious! Loved all dishes except for one and had a great experience. The tuna, wagyu, and duck were so so good. The ibérico pork was also tasty as was the chicken. The chicken was cooked so well. But the star of the show for me was the soft boiled egg with blue carb. Phenomenal. I wouldn't order the seafood rice again... it was a little sad after having all these great flavors then just a bland rice. No flavor! The seafood in it was good but the rice was so plain. And for $40! The mushroom dish was also delicious we all loved it. We had to try all 3 desserts and each of them were lovely. Chocolate sorbet, panna cotta, and pavlova. Each were amazing and I didn't think I was going to like them as much as I did. Ambiance is so nice and I'd love to come back to try their wines and share some plates.. but so hard to get a spot. Alas, it was a good experience :) Definitely pricey though!!!

Sea Scallop + Leek Custard

Flavors were exciting and different. I'm not usually a wine person, but tried the Enderie + Moll 2023 'weis + grau' baden (orange/skin contact) and I enjoyed it. Ordered: - Sea Scallop + Leek custard: Very yummy and different from anything else I tried before. I basically felt like a scallop panna cotta. Very yummy, I would consider getting my own next time. - Seafood Rice: It was very good but this one just didn't taste unique. Basically was a seafood risotto - Iberico Pork Collar: A little fatty but very yummy. All the ingredients complimented each other very well. Restaurant felt cozy and homey. We did a walk in on a Sunday lunch and there was a small wait. We got there about 30 before they opened and there was no one in line. We returned (about 5 minutes before opening) after getting coffee/matcha and there was about 8 people in front of us when.

This place is impossible to get a reservation but decently easy to walk in if you go right at opening. My boyfriend and I went at 10:45AM, waiting until it opened at 11AM and pretty much got seated immediately. I think there's about 10 bar / walk in seats. The ambience and service were amazing! Super cozy and bistro-like. Service was quick and the waiter was super helpful with advising the proper # of dishes to get. It was also coursed perfectly. The food was delicious! Been to a couple of Michelin restaurants and this was one of my favorites.

Megana V.

everything was good and really fresh! I was worried this would be one of those overhyped overpriced hard to get a res places but it was not!! loved their flavor pairings and attention to detail. walked in and put our names down for a group of 3 at 5:30pm and were seated by 8. if you have time on a random weekday would rec this over trying to get a resy! menu changes often but the bread, all the desserts, and the pork chop were all incredible!! (mushroom toast and crudo were also highlights!)

Fried Mackerel

Truly delightful experience at the Four Horsemen. We got in line around 4:45 for the 5:30pm opening and were lucky enough someone cancelled their reservation so we got a table! The service is warm, friendly and attentive; I loved our server so much and she recommended an incredible wine we both loved. We got 7 dishes total; shared the bread, I got the spring greens while hubby got the oysters. I did the fried mackerel when he had the tuna (this was a standout for him) and we both had the Yuba Pomodoro. The bread had a delicious butter with a seasoning that reminded me of rye bread, the spring greens were so delicious and fresh - such a delicate blend of salt that made me devour it. I loved my mackerel / the pomodoro was good and we both finished it but it was less of a standout for us than the others. We should have gotten the Oeufs (eggs) after peeping at another table! We finished off with sticky toffee pudding which had the perfect balance of hot/cold, salty/sweet and soft/crispy. We split it but I could have easily had three more. Bliss point achieved. Ambiance is lively but not loud; only about 8-9 tables apart from the bar seating. Romantic setting for a date but there was also a group of four doing a birthday as well; really warm, chic, brooklyn vibe. Loved it. Would definitely return & recommend.

Oysters

Food was just okay. So surprised this place is rated so well! The dishes are yummy but still quite simple. But I wouldn't pay as much for them again. I did enjoy my non alcoholic MURI wine that I was introduced to here. The highlight of this place is the speakeasy secret bar next door with a vibrant dance floor. Must checkout after dinner!

Oeuf mayonnaise

Had such an amazing dinner here I was speechless. I wasn't able to make a reservation but I tried walking in when they first opened and waited about 30 ish minute. They have a rotating menu so when I went a while back I had the Japanese madai, oeuf mayonnaise, yellow fin tuna and the hazelnut ice cream dessert. Everything was delicious and they paid such attention to detail for the food. My favorite might have been the oeuf mayonnaise though! They have a very extensive wine list and I had such a great time here. Service was amazing! It's a dimly lit restaurant as well.

Sabrina Y.

After over 2 years in the city, I figured it was about time I came to check out this classic. Everything was amazing! It's beautiful inside, and our server was super kind, friendly, and helpful. She said we had to start with the bread and the oeuf, the latter of which was a super interesting dish that I'd definitely recommend everyone try once. For larger dishes, we had the cockles, golden rice, and roasted rainbow trout. All super delicious and a super great balance of flavours. The golden rice is something I'll be thinking about for a very long time - it may look like just another risotto, but it was the perfect balance of flavours like seafood brininess, lightness, saffron, etc. The rainbow trout was also super cool - don't think I've ever had a fish cooked like that before. After such a great meal, we couldn't stop with just one dessert. We tried the fig leaf panna cotta and passion fruit tart. Both delicious again - the panna cotta was a really nice thick, creamy consistency and the fennel pollen provided such an interesting, needed balance for the sweet passionfruit. 10/10 experience, no notes. I'll be coming back to try more dishes!

Bernagat Scallops
Wendy W.

Unfortunately (for my wallet), I really enjoyed my meal at Four Horseman! I got lucky and was able to walk in for 2 with ease on a weekend. Obsessed with all the food, we got: - Spanish mackerel - Summer squash - Morel rice (if you love mushrooms, this is a must-get!) - Bernagat Scallops It is definitely pricey and small portions but I can confidently say that I savored each bite.

The Highlights: * Polpo (Octopus): This was the standout for me. The octopus was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of saltiness and it paired beautifully with the creamy potatoes underneath. A very well-balanced dish. * Salad: Sometimes simple is best. The greens were incredibly fresh and the dressing was light and balanced--not overpowering at all. * Classic Tomato Spaghetti: You can always judge an Italian place by its red sauce. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, staying true to the traditional Italian style. It was simple, fresh and deeply satisfying. * Chicken Dish: The chicken was surprisingly tender and juicy. It's often a basic choice but they executed it perfectly here. Overall: Naked Dog offers a cozy atmosphere with food that feels both elevated and comforting. Bouquet is a small business that hasn't promoted much on Instagram or Eater, so it seems to have gone under the radar. I'm hoping I can do it justice as the first reviewer on this platform. We stumbled upon Bouquet during a mini bar crawl in Greenpoint. We initially planned to hit a few spots, but ended up settling in here for most of the night. We were mostly served by Eric who I believe was the owner operator. He's a NYC native who is super passionate about wine. The wine bar focuses on natural wines and other wines which emphasize minimal additives. The goal here seems to be to sell from producers who try to capture magic in a bottle. The wine list is three pages, so it's long but still approachable. There are about ten wines available by the glass. I started with a Montelpuciano. I sampled a bit and found it to be gassy and funky. The bartender was receptive to my feedback and made another recommendation - a different wine from the Loire Valley. The second option was more of what I was looking for. It was a more structured wine with a more traditional palate. I decided to eventually circle back to the Montelpuciano for my second glass. I'm stubborn and like to give a different flavors a chance to grow on me. I'm a person who doesn't like blue cheese but continually tries it just to make sure. The aroma of this wine was minerally. The best description I have is an Iron adjacent smell. Almost like blood but not the same. The flavor was earthy and rooty. It was the best part of the wine. It had a short finish. I'm no wine expert, but I can tell I was tasting something special. The last time I had wine like this was at a wine making competition. I also tried some of the wine on draft. It was an easy going wine that you could easily have a few of. We didn't have any food, but it seemed like the signature of the menu was their smash burgers. They also had some small bites like fries, cheese, olives, charcuterie, and salads. The other big items were schnitzel and the Rigatoni Alla Vino. The operator said the Rigatoni was an ode to a dish from Don Peppe's - a locals' favorite Italian restaurant in Queens. The space is welcoming. It part of the new wave of wine bars that aren't stuffy. It's about trying fun and experimental wines. Young stuff. Not necessarily hawking out for carefully aged vintages. It's fun and the team is very hospitable. Music is what I'd expect from a Queens local. Lots of 90s and 2000s hip hop. Playlist was filled with A Tribe Called Quest, Talib Kweli, and Common. They have some big speakers and turntables for vinyl records. They had a new record from Future which I suppose is something to boost for audiophiles. Acoustics here were as good as any listening lounge that we've been to in NYC. Entertainment wise, they have some board games behind the bar. No TVs inside the bar, but they have a projector in the backyard which can be used for special events. Two gender neutral restrooms. The one I used was handicap accessible. There is a step to enter the establishment, but they have a button to press in order to request assistance with entry. Good luck to Bouquet! They'll certainly be my go to for wine in Greenpoint.
