I came to Lilia for dinner with my sister and we had a great time! We had a reservation, and everyone was incredibly kind. The service was great, and our server gave us great recommendations. Inside has lots of seating and it is moody, more of a date-night vibe. We ordered three pastas and two appetizers. All were overall great! They are known for their focaccia, and it was good! Definitely one of the focaccia I have had, most end up being too oily but this was perfect. We also got the mussels, and they were good as well, the butter sauce it is dosed in is not too heavy and pairs well with the bread. The Mafaldini was the biggest portion size, and it was also good, but we preferred the other pastas more. The best pasta was definitely the agnolotti!! I've been dying to try this spot but was quite underwhelmed by the food. We got the focaccia to start which was good but nothing special. The mussels and agnolotti were probably the stars of the show. We also had the fettuccine with lamb sausage which was good but again, nothing special. Service wise, the staff was great and very attentive. The food came out extremely quickly so we were in and out of the restaurant which wasnt a bad thing but an observation. Second time dining at Lilia. It was just as good as 2 years ago but with higher prices! We snagged a 645pm easy and were able to get seated a bit earlier. I ordered a vodka martini and it was great. For our food, we shared the: -housemade mozzarella on toasted bread -mussels in herb butter -Black Sea bass with roasted potatoes -French onion ravioli -agnolotti -warm apple tart for dessert Everything was absolutely delicious. The sauce from the pastas was so good - i should've asked for some more toasted bread to soak up the sauce! The fish (a bit small) was cooked perfectly. Lilia is one of the toughest reservations to get in Williamsburg, so I was excited that my friend scored a resy via Amex Gold. Even then, we had bar seats but works for parties of two. To start off, the bartender/server started us off with some celebratory champagne that was quite nice. We also each had a cocktail: Manhattan ($23) and Milano Sour ($21). The drinks are pretty, yet classy. When we ordered our food, a number of the dishes we wanted were out --it was an unlucky night for us. We ended up ordering the Mozzarella Toast ($18), Mussels ($22), and Kombucha Squash ($21) to start. The mozzarella is nice, but nothing too special. The mussels were bright and refreshing with a nice green herb butter served in such a unique way. The squash was also quite unique and highly recommended by our server, which was super flavorful. It had a nice meaty texture with sweet and savory notes. Then came our main pastas: Agnolotti ($31) and Mafaldini ($28). I usually love a cacio e pepe, which was their version using mafaldini noodles. This was just ok, but the agnolotti really blew my mind. The sheep's milk cheese stuffed in the agnolotti was so velvety and luscious. This was something so new for my taste buds. Definitely recommend and suggest sharing two pastas for texture and flavor variety. To end the meal, we got the Italian Job ($15), which was one of the best soft serve vanilla gelato topped with olive oil, honey, sea salt, and fennel pollen. It's pricey, but damn it's delicious! Not worth the hype. For what Lilia is suppose to be, I think it fell short. They do give you a lovely dining experience but I don't think the food is worth the price. The bread was very crispy and the butter was delicious. The clams were a bit chewy. The sheep's milk pasta was a bit too cheesy, but the soft pillowy texture was luxurious. The beet pasta had a light sweet flavor. The fettuccine was pretty standard but good noodle texture. The chicken was actually the stand out dish! Very garlicky. All this to say the while the food is good, it just doesn't live up the hype of what really really elevated Italian should taste like. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. I prefer, Misi, but when I get the chance to eat here, I always leave happy. The service here has always been warm and friendly. Last night, our waitress, Britt, made sure we were happy during our meal. Their sommelier helped us pick the perfect wine to go with our meal. While they have their standards on the menu, such as the malfadine and agnolotti, they also have seasonal items. We tried their braised cabbage with chicken skin and it was a great starter for our meal. The star of the meal was the caramelized onion ravioli. The aged balsamic reduction really added a depth of flavor and the dish wasn't heavy at all. Way too overhyped, I would not recommend. You could find comparable quality Italian food at so many other places in New York at a fraction of the effort that it takes to get a reservation here. This is a bit of a late review on my part as I dined here during summer but it's a review that I wanted to leave nonetheless. Lilia is a very famous restaurant, it is on the best 100 NYC restaurants list according to the New York Times and it's super difficult to book. I was so excited to come here and I was expected to be blown away but I was not. I mean it was good but certainly not worth the hype. It probably didn't help that they don't have AC inside the restaurant. It was literally 95 degrees Fahrenheit in there, not that much better than outside in the blazing heat of New York summer. We kept having to ask the wait staff to refill our drinks with ice. Maybe it would have been better to come here during winter instead, but guess I will never know because I won't be coming back. They have a sister restaurant called Misi that is at least properly air-conditioned, and it's easier to book than Lilia, so just go there instead. read more

Reservations are hard to get but luckily I was able to snag one through my Amex Platinum card for Resy nights! They go out quickly too because I signed up right as they opened and the earliest dinner available was 8:45pm at the bar. My friend and I shared everything which is what I would recommend doing. My favorites were the Sheep milk pasta, mussels and gelato. Everything else we had was tasty too including the other popular pasta, mozzarella and squash. I was a little sad that they ran out of 2 of the dishes we originally wanted but our waiter had good humor about it. The ambiance is lovely but this place is definitely overhyped. I left feeling disappointed and honestly shocked that it's hard to get a reservation here. Not sure I'd pay $25 for it again but not bad. The cacio e pepe fritelle were also pretty good. what went downhill was the pasta and meat. We got the mafaldini which they are known for, and the agnolotti. I was so disappointed. the agnolotti are so sweet!! On the menu it's sheep's milk cheese filled topped with tomato and honey. My mistake for thinking hone was just going to be a drizzle or just a little taste to blend the flavors, not the only flavor I tasted. The mafaldini were not my cup of tea either. Then we ordered the lamb and I realized when it arrived at our table we weren't asked how we like it cooked. Ok, no problem, I assume they bring out how they cook lamb or I guess how it should be. To be honest though, it was a little too under for me. Despite that, we all tried and all couldn't speak after... because we just kept chewing! The flavors weren't bad but the real winner of the dish was the little salad that comes on top. Also I just have to make a note because none of the knives actually cut... Great service and ambiance! The best item on the menu is by far the green garlic butter focaccia which was absolutely mouth watering (but I'm biased because I'm a fiend for focaccia). The pasta was tasty (agnolotti more than the malfadine) but I think didn't quite hit the spot as I typically like meat or seafood in my pastas. With just seasoning and cheese, the taste became a bit monotonous after a few bites. The lamb was well seasoned but a bit chewy. While I was here, my group full of women of color was not even offered the option of a reservation or even at the bar. I have to be honest, also, and I don't usually write reviews like this, but I was aware that the demographic seemed problematically white. Which is disappointing, given the fact that Brooklyn has an originally very diverse and inclusive population. This is my first experience having this thus far in Brooklyn and the tristate. I would 100% recommend that POC avoid this location. Do not dine in here - if the staff is not interested in us then they do not deserve our money. Even when I was looking at the staff and patrons, I didn't see any diversity... the particular staff that we interacted with were Paola and Katrina. Again, this is my first experience thus far in New York across the boroughs, where I wasn't even offered the opportunity to even make a reservation. So proud of myself for snagging a reservation at Lilia--one of the toughest spots to book in NYC. There were a few hits and misses, but the sheep's milk agnolotti and olive oil gelato were definite standouts. Given that I really love Misi, I had sky-high expectations on Lilia. While both are great in their own ways, I personally prefer the food at Misi, the vibes and service at Lilia. ＊Roasted Ramp Foccacia with Green Ramp Butter $21 I was excited to try the focaccia with green garlic butter, but for the season (about six months), it's been swapped with ramps. The focaccia was fluffy with a crispy exterior. I'm not a fan of ramp, so this one wasn't quite for me. ＊Housemade Mozarella on Toasted Garlic Bread $18 Despite being piled with four thick slices of mozzarella and drizzled with honey, this felt surprisingly light. I couldn't really taste the garlic, and the dish still leaned a bit salty.  ＊Grilled Clams $28 I loved the gentle heat from the Calabrian chili and the crunch from the breadcrumbs ＊Sheep's Milk Cheese Agnolotti $31 Lilia's most iconic pasta--and my favorite dish of the night--lived up to its hype. The agnolotti was filled with light, creamy sheep's milk cheese, and the dried tomato and honey elevated the flavor profile. ＊Pink Peppercorn Mafaldini $28 This is a love-it-or-leave-it dish. It was intensely peppery, spicy, and savory, with a strong peppercorn flavor that lingered long after in my mouth. The flavor was one-dimensional imo. Order only if you're into pungent flavors. ＊The Italian Job $15 I was a big fan of Misi's olive oil gelato, but I might like Lilia's even more. It had more layers: honey, sea salt, and fennel pollen. However, after a few bites, the olive oil became overwhelming. I don't understand how people can compare this restaurant with Misi, where every dish I have tried is like a work of art. Maybe Lilia is just trying too hard? We had an order of the gem salad, clams, three different pastas and the lamb. There is definitely an overload of salt and herbs and spices that are just not needed. This is my second time dining at Lilia, and yes, it definitely is a challenging reservation to snag! Indoors the large bar area and many tables set a lively mood. Outdoors they do have many tables and a larger patio area. After checking in for our reservation, we waited a few minutes before being led to our table. We placed our order quickly and the appetizers came out quickly, the Cacio e Pepe fritelle were very delicious and full of flavor. The ramp focaccia with herb butter was okay, not quite as good as I remember. The texture of the pastas was perfectly al dente but the star of the show was easily the Sheep's Milk Cheese Agnolotti with Saffron, Dried Tomato, and Honey. One of two sister restaurants from Missy Roberts -- between this and Misi, I think Lilia wins the day for me. It's a tough res to snag, but recommend trying or just walking in for an early dinner. The ambiance is super bright and airy, love the history of it being a converted auto body-shop. I'd recommend getting everything family-style and a bottle of wine to share for the table. The Sheep's Milk Agnolotti is a clear favorite, legit probably a top three pasta dish ever? The saffron is the star of the dish and the cheese is pillowy. The Focaccia and Ramp Butter was fantastic, I'm sad it's not in season forever. Other standouts include Scallops and Grilled Artichoke, yoghurt sauce on the former was delish. We stopped by when they opened on a weekday and got a seat at the bar. Ambiance was great - the restaurant has really big windows so it felt bright and airy. We got the leek focaccia, which was delicious. The bread was steaming hot and fluffy but crispy on the outside, and the green garlic butter paired well with it as well. The pastas, however, were a bit of a letdown. We got the malfaldini, which I thought was too salty. The peppercorn flavor was interesting, and I liked the first bite, but I didn't like biting into pieces of peppercorn and the flavor lingered in my mouth for a while afterwards. We also got the sheep's milk cheese agnolotti since it was supposed to be one of their signatures dishes. The cheese itself was very mild and didn't have much flavor but there was a subtle odd taste associated with it which wasn't super pleasant for me. I also wasn't a fan of the addition of honey to the sauce. The pasta is really well executed, and the gelato is some of the best I've ever had. It's expensive and a pain to get a table, but worth the hassle once in a while. Cacio e pepe fritelle - really tasty. Pronounced black pepper flavor, creamy on the inside, and perfectly crispy on the outside. Spaghetti - noodles were still firm, and the sauce was light and creamy. The pine nuts added a nice flavor and some textural contrast, and the lemon cut through the sauce nicely. Sheep's milk agnolotti - the most unique pasta I've ever had. Pillowy soft with a creamy filling, and complex flavor from saffron. The dried tomato and honey add some intense sweetness that helps balance everything. Rigatoni - the sauce is pretty unique, with heavy nutmeg cutting through the otherwise simple tomato base. Unfortunately this ended up being the only miss of the night - I found the dish to be way too salty. It was probably a one time mistake, it seems likely that the pasta water was over salted or boiled down too much. The Italian Job - probably makes this restaurant worth visiting just by itself. The gelato is soft serve, which I've never had before, and it's amazing. Intensely creamy and perfectly smooth, topped with olive oil and honey. The honey cools down to a thick gel, so it ends up adding textural contrast as well. The meal is quite expensive, reaching around $80 per person. This probably compares to the higher end West Village spots, but for the same price, the portions are much larger. The foccacia comes out warm with green garlic butter and is definitely worth ordering! About 7 years late I finally made it to Lilia. Misi is close enough to me that I can make the stroll over and try to snag a last minute seat at an odd hour, but for Lilia I was waiting for the random Monday when I'd be compelled to endure a late reservation for the sake of trying their inventive pastas. That Monday was today. The best bites were the oblong agnolotti with a slight smoky sweetness coming from the saffron (a nice redemption after tasting the disgustingly sweet saffron pasta at Barano) and the simple but well-executed pesto gnocchi. The cacio e Pepe fritters were also a crowd-pleaser. The mafaldine was probably my least favorite item. The pasta itself was nicely al denté, but I found the sauce quite noticeably salty. I also would skip the artichoke next time - while tasty, the portion of artichoke meat was rather paltry. The dense olive oil cake is a winner - don't skip dessert here. read more

Feb '25. The service here is exceptional. In the last 10 years we've lost really good service but here, your glass of wine won't get below half full without an arm reaching out to refill it. They have a sommelier ready to assist you with any wine decisions you have to make. The pastas are all good of course but I wouldn't come here just for the pasta-- it's good in the way most upscale Italian is good. The best bites of the nights were all the apps. You MUST get the focaccia. I went to bed dreaming about this bread. And the butter with the focaccia I believe is the same as what's on the mussels. It look me forever to get a reservation at Lilia, so I was happy to be able to see what all the hype was about. There were things we loved and things that were just "meh:" Loved: -the Select Spritz (it was perfectly balanced and one of the best spritz I've had) -Focaccia (truly a flavorful bread) -Agnolotti (popular for a reason!) Meh and lacking a hint of flavor: Cacio e Pepe Fritter (not bad just expected more - would benefit from a dipping sauce); Acorn Squash; Gnocchi So, did Lilia live up to the hype? Was very excited to eat here. Went right at 5 to put our names down for walk in on a Sunday. Was told we could be seated at 8:15. We came back at 8:15 and were seated around 8:30 patio seating. The patio is very nice, clean and the table lamps create a nice ambiance. The showstoppers for us were the wine menu and the agnolotti. I'm not much of a wine fan but liked both the white I got and the red my partner got. Loved the agnolotti, very luscious and a great sauce. The tasty but not "remarkable" were the fresh mozarella toast app, the mafaldini pasta, and the olive oil cake. I would not order the scallops again. $29 for 2 regular sized scallops and I found the flavors just a bit mid. Average at best. Wait staff was ok. Very disappointed expected more. Many transient Brooklyn people over rated this place. Food was average but service not so much. Again disappointed. read more
