Been wanting to try this place for a while since I've heard great things and finally snagged a reservation for 2 on a monday late evening a couple of hrs after reservations opened for a few weeks out! Note that there are a few doors but you can only enter from one side at night and the door is pretty heavy. We waited for a bit for our seats to be ready. I had previously booked seats at the bar but luckily we were able to get a table, which was nice. The tables were nicely spaced out between parties and the place was pretty big. It's a nice spot for a date with great dim light intimate setting. For food we tried the mozzarella and garlic bread, the grilled clams, the grilled artichoke, rigatoni diavolo and the Mafaldini. The garlic bread was cruncy but didn't have much garlic flavor as I expected. The mozzarella was creamy and fresh but the combination felt a bit out of place. Nonetheless it was delicious. The pastas were fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. For flavors I loved the tomato sauce with light spice in the rigaotni. The Mafadini was good but it was a bit more tart than I preferred. For starters we ordered the cacio e pepe frittelle, roasted ramp focaccia, & mussels. The cacio e pepe frittelle is decent sized and extra cheese. The roasted ramp Focaccia is fluffy, soft, fresh & goes great with the pasta. The mussels are presented beautifully & enough to share as a small appetizer. Went once and never again. To say it was disappointing is not enough. Lilia's dishes show that the chef does not understand how to use ingredients and prepare them as they need to be. Clams 1/10. I had the most flavorless rubbery clams of my life here. The breadcrumbs on top became soggy, so the entire texture was disgusting. It is like chewing bland gum. For an established restaurant, I think this is unacceptable. Puntarelle 2/10. The puntarelle was also insanely oily and soggy from being cooked. The bitterness of it was amplified by the use of too much lemon. The gorgonzola goop in the middle felt thoughtless and did not compliment the puntarelle. It was like a bitter sour oiled veggie with a funky bitter creamy sauce. This ingredient is best as a cold salad. Agnolotti 6/10. okay, very familiar flavors. But the edges were undercooked and crunchy like pasta cooked in water for 5 minutes. Beet pasta 7/10- the most decent one here. The smokiness from the cheese and peppercorn was good. Although I wouldn't say it went super well with the sweetness of the beet. For a place known for their pasta, it's more than disappointing to have them not get it right. I was initially thrilled to finally snag a reservation to Lilia, BUT it sadly did not live up to its reputation of being the best Italian fare in Williamsburg. The waitstaff is exceptional and they are very attentive and make a point of knowing exactly what you need before even uttering a word. The food was very lackluster. We had the spaghetti, gnocchi, scallops (2), prosciutto & leek bread. Each dish was more unmemorable than the next. The vanilla and chocolate gelato were the best part of the entire $250 meal. They pride themselves on keeping the ingredients simple, but there is such a thing as too simple. Save your money and either go elsewhere or prepare something at home. You will undoubtedly be more satisfied for a fraction of the cost. Not worth it. Also, the restaurant was cold on a freezing night and the door to enter the restaurant weighed an absolute ton and there are only 2 poorly lit toilets. I walked in on a weekday evening when they opened for a table for 2 and was told we could get seated in 15 minutes. Roasted Leek Foccacia (10/10): My favorite dish of the night. The bread was warm and soft, and the compound garlic butter was absolutely perfect paired with it. Malfadini (4/10): I think the concept is promising and it's a flavor combination I haven't had before. The pasta shape was cool but I didn't think this was anything special. Agnolotti (9/10): The filling was perfect and I was happy that the serving size was pretty big. I couldn't taste too much of the saffron though, but the honey flavor came through. These days nabbing a table at Lilia is a little easier, but make sure you order the right things. Don't miss the Sheep's Milk Cheese Agnolotti which, despite my own lactose intolerance, I could not stop eating. Where the Agnolotti shined, other menu items took a hit. The Ricotta Gnocchi includes a well made pesto but ate a little dry. The Cacio e Pepe Frittelle (fancy fried mac & cheese balls) is heavy and the Scallops are well made but the walnuts and sauce felt disjointed. The Roasted Leek Focaccia is fantastic but the Green Garlic Butter was a little soulless. The most disappointing of all was the Apple Crostata, which came out cold and was topped with a cream instead of their signature gelato, an obvious miss. Despite all of this, I would go back many times over just for that Angelotti. I'm glad I got to finally try Lilia for dinner and bummed I don't live closer, as I'd love to swing by and try out their more casual caffe options during the day. But dinner was great. Also really good. There was a LOT of hype before going and in the end I get it. It's certainly hard to get a reservation and there's a reason for it. We had somewhat thought out what we wanted ahead of time and were super pumped to try the agnolotti, as this seemed to be quite popular. Unfortunately, this was not available the day we went-womp womp. We ended up starting with the mozzarella toast. I'm usually really into toast like this but this one kind of missed the mark for me. The toast itself was a bit too substantial and I truly did not appreciate the bottarga, as it didn't go well with the cheese (or any cheese?). We also went with the little gem salad. I enjoyed this! Love a salad that uses breadcrumbs like this and the texture I enjoyed. Finally to start were the grilled clams. There's a reason every single person has this in their pictures-it's delicious and a must when you're here. The clams are pre-shucked, which is clutch, and perfectly breaded. Quite easy to eat and a nice portion. We chose two pastas: the malfadini and the gnocchi. Malfadini is not a pasta we really ever eat, so it was a nice option. It took me a while to warm up to whether I enjoyed the taste of the peppercorn sauce but in the end found it to be a nice balance of zest and cheese. The latter (the gnocchi) I preferred but it would be difficult to make a pesto dish I didn't enjoy. Particularly enjoyed the addition of the pistachios. I will say I wish that the pasta options had more meat representation, as I don't typically love a meatless pasta by itself. We weren't so inspired by any of the main meat dishes so opted out of this. The experience itself was quite nice. We were sat outside, which I typically don't love but it was a lovely night. We started with the focaccia and that green garlic butter I will now see in my dreams and the mozzarella which were amazing. I've been wanting to try Lilia for the longest time and it's seriously so hard to get a table here. So randomly on a Saturday afternoon, we ran here right when it opened at 4 PM and funny enough, a bunch of other people had the same idea too. We only waited about 15 minutes before we got a corner seat inside. The staff really tries to persuade people to sit outside but it was way too cold and windy for that, especially not ideal spring weather. The interior was honestly so beautiful, with this modern but rustic charm. The ceiling was made from rustic looking wood beams, and it felt like it was preserved from whatever the space used to be before. The textures and finishes throughout the space just felt super intentional and balanced. I already saw so many tables were reserved. They had a drinks menu and a separate dessert menu. We got a few of the dishes that are always recommended online: * Grilled Clams with Calabrian Chili and Breadcrumbs * Sheep's Milk Cheese Agnolotti with Saffron, Dried Tomato, and Honey * Mafaldini with Pink Peppercorn and Parmigiano The Grilled Clams were honestly a 5/10 for me. They weren't anything special, and I felt they were a little sandy, but maybe that was just the breadcrumbs. The flavor was decent, refreshing with a slight spicy kick from the Calabrian chili, but not something I'd rave about. I did appreciate that since we were 3 girls, they gave us 12 clams instead of 10 so we could split them evenly. Thank you to the staff for that! The Agnolotti was rich and creamy, with the flavor of the sheep's milk cheese really coming through. The pasta skin was so thin and delicate, and I love combining the sun-dried tomato, a piece of garlic, and a bite of the Agnolotti. The dish had a hint of sweetness, and the overall flavor was really rich and balanced. Definitely a highlight of the meal! Now I wish there were some veggies in it, but still a solid 7/10. Now the Mafaldini, literally so good. Salty and slightly sweet, and I loved the touch of pink peppercorn because I love pepper. At 3:30 pm the doors were open so I asked the hostess if there was a chance of getting a table for two. She was very accommodating and said she had a table if we were done by 5:45 pm which was fine. They put a nice spin on the dishes. They find a way to put a unique flavor. They are a little pricey, some dishes are a little on the small size, and I would have liked to see more variety on the menus for entrees. They are know for their pasta dishes. I had a margarita which was good, although a little on the small side. We started with the house made mozzarella on toasted garlic bread. It was very fresh and flavorful, you can taste all the seasoning. We shared three mains, two were pastas. Loved the spaghetti, pine nuts and lemon reggiano. Also the fettuccine with lamb sausage, lemon passato and pecorino romano cheese. We also had the grilled bass, salsa verde over coal roasted Yukon golden potatoes. Couldn't pass up on desert. Had the lemon ice which was vanilla gelato, candied lemons, and lemon granita. Also had the apple crostata with honey and creme freiche. We spoke to several repeat customers who were extremely happy. This was on my list for such a long time, and finally - my friend was able to get a reservation for us! Overall the food was delicious - my friend and I got the mozzarella and garlic bread, the grilled clams, the grilled artichoke, and two pastas to share. The garlic bread doesn't have a particularly noticeable garlicky flavor, but the mozzarella was creamy and fresh. The grilled clams were covered in this Calabrian chili paste, which had a nice kick. Initially we were not sure about how to eat the grilled artichoke (surprising this is the first time we ate a complete artichoke haha). But once we figured it out, it was absolutely delicious. Now in the pastas: they were fresh and cooked perfectly al dente. The rigatoni diavolo had a wonderful sauce. The other pasta was also yummy, but I'm not sure if it was the pasta dish we ordered. I thought we ordered the Linguini with lamb sausage and tomato pasta too, but instead the dish we got had a nice creamy cacio e pepe flavor. Still though, we enjoyed the food. The restaurant ambience had a romantic vibe, and was just a really chill place for more intimate get-togethers. (I'd recommend coming early - on a weekday - if you're like me and don't plan your dinners months out.) Walked in and was seated around 4pm on a Friday and had quite possibly one of the best meals of my life. The foccasia with green garlic butter was so delicious. By luck, there was a no show, and we were able to get seated after their grace period ended. They told us they would need the table back in an hour and thirty minutes, but that was plenty of time for us. We got a bottle of orange wine. We asked for recommendations. I don't remember the exact bottle, but the price was at the lower end of the spectrum of their offerings. However, the wine was crisp and fruity. Everything a new wine drinker would appreciate. Started off with the housemade mozzarella toast. It was so smooth and creamy. The mozzrella itself was very mild, but the textural contrast between it and the bread was heavenly. The small bits of bottarga on top provided a little bit of saltiness and the lemon a little bit of acidity. My favorite bite of the night had to be the chicken liver crostini. It was so smooth. The tiniest bit of bitterness from the liver. Freshness from the spring onion, and a bit of sweetness from what I assume the balsamic. The crisp of the crostini. It was amazing. Fettuccine was good but not my favorite pasta. Cooked well, but I wasn't wowed by it like I was by the agnolotti. The sauce of the agnolotti was amazing sweet and savory, buttery and silky. The sheep milk was surprisingly not that strong which I preferred. The pocketful pasta was so soft in my mouth. The dried tomato gave a bit of brightness. One of my favorite pasta dishes in NYC to date. I would skip the grilled lamb leg steak the next time. While it was cooked to a perfect temperature, it was still somewhat chewy. One of the best meals I've ever had. We had the leek focaccia, artichokes, prawns, mussels, lemon pasta, rigatoni diavola, and sheep's milk cheese agnolotti. I would highly recommend any of the dishes but particularly the focaccia, artichokes, and agnolotti. Also, the drinks could have been a bit better. Service was phenomenal once we were seated but took an hour to seat us with a reservation. Still very worth it for the food! read more

The service was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly! We did not have a reservation, but we arrived right when they opened at 4 PM and managed to get bar seating. The food was outstanding--some of the best clams and grilled artichoke I've ever had! The pasta Rigatoni Diavola and Sheep's Milk Cheese Agnolotti was flavorful, but unfortunately, it was served cold, which is why I'm giving this review 4 stars instead of 5. I wanna love this place and it's very good, but it's pretty hit or miss. I've been to Misi, the sister restaurant and I think it's just as good and much less of a hassle to get reservations. Cocktails here are fine but nothing unique, they have all the basics but nothing special. First time we came here started with the Cacio e Pepe Frittelle and loved them and the Grilled Clams, which were good but I've had better. Next tried a squash seasonal special and that was amazing. For pastas we had the infamous Sheep's Milk Cheese Agnolotti and liked this very much. Second pasta was Rigatoni Diavola and it was pretty bland and kind of a let down. It was like a base that was missing the main ingredient. For dessert they were out of almost everything. So we had the chocolate gelato with candied orange and the olive oil cake. The gelato was pretty delicious, olive oil cake was just ok. Second time we came here, got the Cacio e Pepe Frittelle and Roasted Leek Focaccia. Both dishes were kind of the same, I guess we ordered wrong, but they were both bread heavy and I wish we had ordered something else. Definitely got the Sheep's Milk Cheese Agnolotti again but the star of the show and honestly the reason I will come back here is the Mafaldini, Pink Peppercorn, Parmigiano pasta, OMG this was the one thing that was for real mind blowing. One of my favorite dinners in NY, so glad I finally got to make it here after it's been on my list for so long. Came here for dinner, the ambiance was very nice, each table had a candle. The food was so good! The focaccia was perfectly crusted and then soft and pillowy inside. The green butter was also interesting. The tortellini was so good and the filling was the highlight of the meal, super creamy. Then topped off with the dessert that was an apple crumble topped with fresh cream -- it had all the elements of a dessert that I like, the warm gooeyness, nice crunch, and a freshness from the cream. went to Lilia 15 minutes after it opened to ask for a last minute res, and they were super accommodating!! the server was so kind and friendly. Satvi and I went for DATEEE NIGHTTTT. The foccacia was the star of the night, literally chefs kiss. bread melted in my mouth and I wanted moreeee the pasta was good but tbh nothing to write home about. ognolotti had a saffron taste and was really al dente pasta which I appreciated. the gnocchi was a flop idk was not a fan I would go again and try other dishes, loved the service and the restaurant is a VIBE read more

5 stars for service 4 stars for ambiance 3.5 stars for food We came across this place several times and always found a line. The bf said that it took him a month to make reservations. I understand why it's packed as their food is freshly prepared and it's a different style food. The ambiance was nice but I didn't care for the table setup as the neighbor table was too closely setup where you can hear their conversations. Food was mediocre. The clams had nice seasoning but way too overcooked that it was too chewy. The goat cheese pasta flavor was lovely. The other pasta dish was bland in flavor. Started cacio peppe was too salty, properly too much cheese around it. Dessert was lovely, warm apple pie with sour cream on top. Was looking forward to gelato but their machine broke. The wine connoisseur was patient with us with great recommendations. Service was amazing, constant plate and utensil changing and refill of water. read more

We didn't have reservations which is highly recommended but they were able to seat us in the back half and hour later. Aiden was an amazing sever and made some nice recommendations. Customer service wise, definitely a 5 but food was average. Scallops with sauce and Alonds on top isn't something that stand out, or the garlic bread with mozzarella again wasn't something I'd order again. The pasta however was cooked to perfection. Just enough spice and lamb meat sauce. Again I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but to each their own. read more
