Grabbed some drinks at Left Hand Path on Friday night. A decent spot to have a beer, but a few smaller issues led us to head out after a second pour. Quality: Had a beer and a Blood Orange Marg as we waited for friends to meet-up on Friday night. Casual and chill with a small, but solid beer list, and a few cocktails. They were still in winter mode with several hot drinks available. Quantity: No issues with size or strength of pours. Value: $6-$10 for Draft Beers. $10-$12 for Assorted Cocktails. Ambiance: Left Hand Path is a beer bar located in Bushwick. When you enter you are immediately met by a bar. It has unique wood walls and ceiling, not sure if it was meant to mirror a cask or a ship, but it was pretty cool. They had a small lounge room in the back, as well as a covered and heated outdoor area. The problem with the outdoor space is people would smoke and it would fill the area. Crowd: Busy on Friday night, multiple areas all filled up. Service: Fast bartenders, but needed some folks handling clean-up. Parking: Decent street parking nearby. read more

I gotta say I was pretty impressed with the dumplings and I wonder if they make them in-house or pick them up somewhere. Normally places which don't cater to chinese people don't focus on boiled dumplings (which generally should be fresher than fried ones, where you can hide a little age) and their dumplings were quite quite tasty. If you are in the hood and too tired for warehouse party, this place is great. They have delicious house piña colada's in the summer and house mulled wine in the winter, 2-3 cocktails on tap all year round. Bar tenders are fun and easy to talk to. It some times turn into a dance party on Friday nights. But for the most part it's a great place to nurse a whiskey after midnight with a friend or alone. Really cool spot for day drinking. They're usually playing some kind of cool old country music like Porter Wagoner or something, the bartenders are chill and nice people. They have a small selection of good beers you might not find everywhere. The dumplings take forever but they're worth it. The decor is vintage and cozy, and the main room is built like the inside an old ship. At night though, it gets packed to the point of being obnoxious and you can't hear what the person next to you is saying. But good for them! Overall I highly recommend this place. read more

Whenever I walk into Left Hand Path I feel like I've been drunk for several happy, uninterrupted years though I know that I've been to my apartment, or else gone to work or even other bars. Each visit is nothing more than re-entry, but the imagined sensation of always having been at Left Hand Path mixed with the comforting practical knowledge of return; this must be the Path's best cocktail. It's subtle. What I'd like to be able to say is that I've established some roots in this bar, and as a fourth or fifth wave gentrifier I understand that's ridiculous to say, but whatever, it's how I feel. Nic shed the redundant letter "k" from the end of his name at some point in favor of it's current misspelling, and Nic's my main guy here. He's not a Nicole and he's not gay either, he just spells his name like that. I haven't bothered to learn the others' names, I guess, having been unable to get over the suave, severe poetry of spelling "Nick" without a "k." Anyway I like that guy a lot. I don't have to ask anymore, I just approach and he pours the drink like I like it and moves on to another patron, it's one of the most successful relationships of my life. When it's time to settle my tab, he writes the number down with pencil on a slip of paper and slides it across to me from his side of the bar. I wasn't always this enthusiastic about Left Hand Path. I remember the first time I went, I complained to my friend whom had dragged me in that it resembles the inside of a hunting club or fishing boat, the defining interior design trend for a generation, the look that's become so tiring if not oddly endemic to drinking in Brooklyn. However, the reclaimed wood paneling and antique brass wall sconces no longer annoyed me after I realized that Left Hand Path is the best bar in America. They have rosé on tap. Furthermore, you can smoke cigarettes on the patio out back next to a lawn gnome which was a gift from the owner's mother, I asked. Also you can order Chinese dumplings here which doesn't make any sense, but then again neither do most things in life, it's just nice to have a bar. read more

The dark and stormy is really awesome!!! I had the Floridita. The bitters adds a kick to the drink. The ambiance is dark but warm. They have the A/C kicking so that's a plus on these hot summer days. The bartender greeted us right away which is a plus in my book. Overall I like the place. They have a good happy hour specials which appeals to the work crowd in this area. Been coming to this place off and on since it opened, never disappointed. Bartenders are always very friendly and quick, even when they're crowded. Backyard area is cool, although some guy who lives one floor above the bar has a shower window looking out into the yard, so you can basically watch him showering, haha. Always a good rotating tap selection, and the bartenders are very knowledgable and will let you try stuff if it's not slammed. I'd recommend staying away from the cocktails...not very good and overpriced, but stay for the beer. read more

Jesse the bartender here rocks! She's attentive, knowledgeable about the beers, and pours great cocktails. I love the atmosphere, it's kinda divey but kinda classy at the same time haha. If that makes sense. It feels homey and comfortable there. The happy hour specials are great, they have a solid deal for a beer + shot (see, like a dive bar right? haha). Great vibe, seemed like a low key interesting place to hang out on a Thursday night. It is, but I am going against the general crowd and say the cocktails are not the best. I requested the bartender to make an off the menu gin cocktail.. which had some lime and bitters annnd that's exactly what I got. An overwhelming lime drink with bitters. The table also got a whiskey sour- judging by the crushed ice in the drink, it definitely was not the standard whiskey sour and neither was the taste. This bar is hip and happening. Super chic crowd of cool Bushwickers in the know. The staff is helpful and smells fantastic. Usually pretty solid music, which is clutch. Cocktails at mad to your exact specification with a smile. Tits. It is not wheelchair accessible, which is great because it means I get to leave the old ball and chain at home. New favorite bar in bushwick for a quiet happy evening. It has an older crowd (including me!) than most bars in the area. Playing non-stop 80s British indie music maybe helps keep it that way. The pixies made a brief appearance but the barman played whack-a-mole on the fast-forward button and Pulp saved us from american tunes. read more

I am so disappointed with this place. I came here with my roomate after shortly moving to Brooklyn. I am from NY and she is from NJ. We are both 25 and the bartender was so rude to her saying her ID was fake and she was willing to show other forms. When she told me this I was really upset at the way he treated her so I went up to him and tried to express how disappointed I was that this was happening and he just shot me down and said very rudely do you want to order another drink or what?
