I absolutely love the vibe here. Upstairs is a bar, with string lights and disco balls. It's laid back but still has a fun, lively feel. You can bring outside food and the cocktails a fantastic. Downstairs is a proper dance floor that usually opens at 11. You can effortlessly switch between hanging out upstairs and living it up in the basement which I love. If you can early enough you can even skip the cover charge! read more

You can choose from two main vibes at Cafe Balearica. Upstairs, you have a spacious, somewhat relaxed bar and lounge area. The music is at a low enough volume that you can hear your conversations, it doesn't get too crowded so you can spread out, even if you're in a large group. Downstairs, it's a lot tighter, with a DJ, dance floor, lounge seating area, and a much more packed and busy atmosphere on the weekends. I like ping ponging between both vibes when I'm with friends. Admittedly I've found the music both times to be too experimental for me. Confessing that makes me feel like an old person shaking my fist or at least shaking my head, misunderstanding what makes the youth tick. But I had no trouble twirling around the dance floor to this weird experimental music after throwing back a few tequila sodas upstairs. A few times while here my friends have split up into the group that wants to go downstairs to dance and the group that wants to stay upstairs and chill. It's relatively easy to navigate between both vibes, which I enjoy about this spot very much. read more

Love this bar! I go frequently for a comedy show and I've never had a bad experience. The main floor is extremely vibey with disco balls, cute furniture & wallpaper, and mood lighting. They have a variety of yummy cocktails. I LOVE the frozen Loverboy drink. The comedy show is hosted in the basement, and I think on weekends it turns into a dance party space. It's a great date spot and a great spot in general. read more

Overall rating: 4.4 I saw an influencer eat here, so naturally I thought it was a popular place. When I went for the happy hour, it was just me haha. Awkward. Somehow I thought being the only customer meant reasonable service, but it was still somehow slow. The happy hour is a joke though because they serve you in a small size. I somehow thought it was going to get more crowded throughout the night but it was quiet. I went on a Friday with a friend and my 9pm, a comedian was trying to convince us to go to his show downstairs. Not sure if this is the place for me. read more

Avoid this club if you're a woman. The creepy bouncers in the picture harassed and literally stole money from a friend waiting in line. Update: the owner called me and argued with me. He lied and said "he reviewed the camera footage and the bouncer didn't take the money" but when I asked him to explain what happened in the video he would not tell me. He also said "I should have waited to post my review". He came up with a story "that they found the money on the ground" but somehow that wasn't caught on camera. read more

I came here one evening while bar hopping and it's a good vibe at night. While there's a cafe during the day and they have food options, I mostly came for the drinks and ambiance. The inside of the cafe/bar is lively at night, with a live DJ, large dance floor and lounge. It's a great space to go with one friend or five, and the music was pretty good. read more

Bartenders are not cognizant of patrons who are waiting in line behind those clogging it up by sitting/standing in front of the bar after ordering. This leads to extremely long wait times (20+ min) since no one is performing crowd control. Some patrons are Aggressive and staff should be there to hold them accountable to create a space that minimizes these encounters - ie. Couple of ladies and a man clogging up bar space, preventing the line from moving, then being aggressive to those behind them when they are trying to find out what the hold up is. If there were a couple of staff responsible for tracking the line and crowd control, a lot of what I mentioned would be non-issues. Simple, but no one is working on it. Unchecked, these problems deliver an uncompetitive experience in Williamsburg nightlife. read more

Came with my wife for a couple drinks. Full bar with about eight beers on draft. Beers were listed by style, so I'm not sure if they were craft or not. Bartender was very quick. Dance floor downstairs was closed while we were there. Maybe a half dozen or so tables to lounge at upstairs. Only notice one single occupancy restroom; it was spacious and handicap accessible. read more

Do you ever planning on having a wine night with your bestie and before you know it you find ourself on an impromptu night out? This is how I ended up at Cafe Balearica. To be fair, impromptu nights are always more fun than planned ones (sorry not sorry). We pulled up....very late. Don't know how long they stay open but it was definitely past 1 am which is really when things get good in my very humble opinion. Either way, I think there is usually a $10 cover (has to be cash) or maybe you'll get lucky and they won't make you pay?? Either way, the dance floor is downstairs while the main floor is a typical bar. Spent 0 time in the bar and went straight to dance. I had a fun time here and think I'll be back, it was clean, bartenders nice, and I felt comfortable/safe despite the fact that I was with only one other girl. Came here during a Saturday afternoon for a birthday celebration. I loved the chill, yet lively vibe and adore the interior decor. It gets great light during this time of day. I have also been here at night and the dance floor downstairs opens up, which is fun. I ordered white wine and there are also cocktail options on the menu. Seating includes a variety from bar stools, to booths. Great place for a low-key birthday celebration, enough space for plenty of people! read more

Came here for a girls night based on reviews. Was standing next to the dj ordering a drink and he put his hands on me and shoved me out of his way. The bartenders working on 4th of July were rude since we first ordered and after a while started to fight our group because we tried to call them to get a drink, one of them even telling us to f*$# off just because we were trying to get them to actually serve us a drink cause they would not even make visual contact with us. To the blonde bartender and the hispanic girl working there if you guys are mad because it feels like a sauna inside that place and you have to work dont blame it on the others, do your work or just dont go to work if you are gonna start fighting clients because they are trying to get a drink after waiting for 20 minutes in front of you. read more

My favorite new bar in Williamsburg. Really feels like exactly what the neighborhood was missing! Elegant and classy upstairs with huge windows, great ambiance and plenty of room to sit and lounge. Downstairs is a dark and popping little dance club with fun lighting and great DJ's. It's super easy to meet new people here and make new friends, more than most other bars in the neighborhood And the drinks are deeeeelicious ! read more

I really enjoyed checking out cafe balearica with a friend. the decor and bar are very cute, though the dancing area downstairs was blasting the music so loud no one was really dancing so the upstairs was especially crowded. I love having two different vibes in the same space, but I would have enjoyed it being something other than electronic music (lean into the disco vibe)! The frozen drinks were incredible. I will def be back whenever I find myself wandering around Williamsburg particularly on a weeknight! read more

My boyfriend's phone was stolen here in May 2024. We ran into a group of other people from the bar who all had their phones stolen as well (5 additional people affected, at least!). Management actually approached us, sensing our concern, and didn't acknowledge that other phones had been reported stolen from their bar. Management clearly knew something was going on and didn't do anything to help alleviate the problem. Would not recommend this place unless you're committed to having a tight tight grip on your phone all night! read more

the music, discoballs & lights are amazing but the crowd could be better/ more safe for women. I went with a group of girlfriends and a few had their boyfriends with them && even with men present all of the women in my group were touched or harassed by strangers. One man took a fistful of my ass with one hand while holding his girlfriends hand with the other. I slapped him and he looked shocked- I am guessing I'm the first woman he has sexually assaulted that has defended herself. The girlfriend was clueless as to what happened & he pulled her away before I could tell her that her mans just assualted me. Another dude physically grabbed one of my girlfriends and wouldn't let go until we literally pulled his arms off of her and as he was reaching to grab her again we had to push and shove him so hard that he lost his balance. I am not joking- after he caught his balance he came over and grabbed her again and we started screaming "we dont know you" while shoving him off again. If it wasn't so crowded and his face wasn't so close to my girlfriend's I would've maced him. If you still choose to go-this is a place for fun music but also a place where you need to check your bag for an airtag when you leave because a large portion of the men here create an unsafe environment for women. I also reccomend going with an equal ratio of men to women... maybe that would signal the creepy men not to bother? Overall it was a traumatizing experience that I had to process with my therapist.. read more

Obsessed with this place! Came for the first time a few weeks ago and have been back regularly since. Great music, drinks and all over amazing energy. Weeknights it's very approachable and always have a decent crowd going. Has potential to be a cute non-intimidating date spot- trendy ,but approachable just like the ideal Brooklyn boy/gal/person.Weekends it's the perfect place to dance away the worries of the work week and shimmy around in the basement. Lovely airy vibes upstairs. Plants and murals make it feel like you've gone on vacation somewhere warm and welcoming for a cocktail or beer. I LOVE a Photo Booth and this one took very good pictures and they give you a digital copy both in photo and video. On a Saturday night, they had a pretty good DJ playing Afrobeats and reggaeton. The bartenders were nice and the margaritas were pretty good. Considering it's a speakeasy, I would say it's pretty spacious with a few booths and table, but would recommend you go there early if you want to be there with a large group. They allow birthday cakes from outside as well.

I love when the menu has the glass type next to it. The drinks are incredible.

I have also been here for lunch and had a number of other dips and salads and loved what I got. Chama Mama is great for a date or friends. I believe they will rent out the full restaurant for events. The vibe feels upscale yet simple, and everything is delicious. Prices are in the teens for appetizers and $30+ per entree. Recommend.

The crudo blue fin tuna was very fresh and flavorful, the sourdough ricotta is a must, so soft (both the ricotta and the bread) and so delicious, the seared scallop expensive for one scallop but wow, one of the best scallops I've ever tried, and the octopus, perfectly charred but a smaller portion that I thought. We sat at the bar, the place is gorgeous and the service was great.
