Came here on a freezing cold day to watch the Notre Dame game. Kent Ale house is super cozy and casual, with worn in wooden floors, board games to play and lots of TVs to watch sports on. We were seated in the back of the ale house with other Notre Dame fans waiting for the game to start. There was a bit of a sound issue at first so we missed some of the pregame, but eventually the bartender got it fixed. Our waitress was attentive despite how many tables she was juggling -- I think she had the entire back room at one point, so it was impressive she didn't forget about us over in the corner. Drinks were decently priced, they have an extensive cocktail menu that even featured a few hot drinks, plus lots of beers on tap. Can't speak to the food since we'd eaten just before coming here, but all the food I saw going out looked delicious. Will come here again if I'm ever back in the area. read more

A great spot for an NFL Sunday -- it gets pretty busy but never super crowded, would recommend coming early for a table. I appreciate that they label all the TVs with which games they're broadcasting, so you can find a convenient spot to watch your team. This place is a divey sports bar. They have tons of screens all over, even for people outdoors. So, you can drink outside on the sidewalk if you'd like to, as that's where they are set up. We didn't make any reservations and just walked into the bar 30 mins before the Knicks game during the playoffs to get a table for the group of eight of us. I suggest that as soon as they play the game, it started getting crowded. I must say that the service is terrible. They need more wait staff, especially during the weekends. The food is alright for a divey bar. But it isn't gourmet. The bathrooms are kinda gross as it's for anyone to use, and people don't know how to pee in the toilet. I went to this bar for the first time last weekend and it was so much fun, especially with a group of people! They have a great drink selection, including a mystery beer + shot deal for $10 which is when the bartender surprises you with a shot of their choosing and then a surprise beer or seltzer in a brown paper bag. The food is also really good, I had the chicken tenders with fries and my husband got the grilled cheese and the portions were perfect both were very tasty. It definitely brightened my day. On this trip I tried the food. It was decent pub food, nothing I was overly enthusiastic about. The wings were just ok and the fried pickles are what I consider a 'fair' type of beer batter fry, think funnel cake-ish. Again, these were fine. Typical standard bar/pub food. I got ciders and tried some canned sweet tea thing that was advertised in the bathroom, they were standard. I think we timed our visit just right, it was a beautiful November day in Brooklyn and we were able to take advantage of the outdoor seating area before it gets too cold. The staff was friendly and made sure to flip the channel for those who came in with a request for certain games. There were gluten free can options to choose from (including seltzers, and hard kombucha). We got the fries to split, which were great, and I also tried out their hot toddy which wasn't the best I've ever had but was a fun drink to enjoy on a crisp fall day. We'd just had brunch at Kokomo nearby and wanted to find a spot to hang out and have a drink. Kent Ale House wasn't open yet, but one of the cooks saw us standing around and let us in to warm up. He even got us some coffee! He wasn't able to serve us drinks, but the bartender was coming in shortly and she hooked us up. Even though it was chilly, I ordered a Jim Beam citrus highball: Jim Beam Original White Label Whiskey, Lemon Juice & Soda Water. It was refreshing and light, which was nice. Was able to pick a spot to settle and scanned the table for the menu. Not many options on draft as they used to have, but got a decent Pilsener ($8) to start. For food, split the Buffalo Cauliflower ($13) - a few pieces of breaded cauliflower served alongside ranch dressing and celery sticks. Basic tangy flavor and not overly breaded. Considering the price, wish there was more in the dish. Service here is fine, especially considering it's a sports bar. It was pretty tasty, towering with a bunch of toppings and the thickest, densest veggie burger I've ever had that I couldn't tell you what it was made from. It felt super processed. The salad was pretty boring and I struggled to finish it. Service was okay but a little slow. We were told that you seat yourself and so we did. Our server greeted a table that came in after us and then she greeted our table and got our drink orders. She certainly did her job as a waitress, however, she was strictly business. No pleasantries, just a "what do you need type" of attitude. We got our drinks quickly and ordered wings as an appetizer and I ordered the chicken sandwich. Our appetizers came out and about one minute later our entrees come out. Ideally, the waiter or waitress would try to time when they should put the entrees into the system, but clearly that was not done today. The wings were pretty good. But my chicken sandwich was...fire...delicious...bomb.com. We needed ketchup and my mom ended up having to go find someone for ketchup. There is outdoor side seating, a small enclosed patio in thé rear, an expansive front bar and lots of wide, flat screen télévisions for your viewing pleasure. This place earned one star for thé wonderfully, well spaced layout that never really seems cramped. Another star earned for the ample screens that display rugby and fútbol back to back. Another star for thé service which was courteous and efficient even amidst thé Northside festival swarm along with free drinks which led to extra exuberance. Bathrooms are efficient, food seems solid (athough all I did was sample some in passing), and thé views from this location could really set thé mood if you're in on a quiet evening. Very loud music!!! I had a great time with my guest, we just needed a place quick to charge our phones and we ordered the Chilli Cheese Tatter tots and BBQ jumbo wings. The staff was amazing, quickly attended us and very nice. The bathroom was clean and the place was packed. We didn't have any drinks but the next best thing to love about a place is the food. Definitely going to make a trip back. There is outside seating and open windows for air and a gorgeous view of the city right outside the place. It really is a must see!!!!
