Very cool, fun bar that I stumbled upon on my short trip to NYC. Located in Brooklyn, it looked like it was a bar locals enjoyed hanging out at. Their drinks were great, the bar tenders were very friendly and it was cool to be able to talk to the locals and enjoy their company. Like the sign outside says, A Good Bar, not a Great Bar. But honestly, my friend and I had a great time. We were the first ones inside one Saturday afternoon after wandering the rainy streets in search of a listening bar. It's small, kind of grungy, but dimly cozy. The laughter of the staff goofing off as their shift started was magnetic and we took a seat next to the record player, which one of the staff manned flawlessly, keeping the R&B vibes going the whole time. Come if you want GTs and a place that doesn't take itself too seriously. Knowing we already had a night of debauchery ahead, we were pleasantly surprised to see some lower guilt options on the menu - two mocktails and a massaged kale salad. The fruity mocktails were so pretty and refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet. I know y'all be talking about the crinkle cut fries, but I'm putting a plug in for the crispy chickpeas and citrusy vinaigrette coating each leaf of kale in the salad. used to be a regular here, but over time the cracks became impossible to ignore. Good Bar is only "good" when the owner isn't present. The DJs are solid, and the other bartenders are cool -- that's literally the only reason this place survives. The owner is hostile, aggressive, and unprofessional. I've personally witnessed him profiling customers, treating people differently based on how much money he thinks they'll spend or even how they look. If you're not blowing ridiculous cash, you're clearly not welcome. He regularly talks down to and aggressively interacts with both staff and patrons, often while visibly drunk. On New Year's, he even banned a customer simply for not tipping him, as if tipping is mandatory & let me just add, said customer wasn't Caucasian. Completely absurd behavior for someone running a business. The food is awful, and the bathrooms are straight-up disgusting -- like no one's checked them in days. It's embarrassing. It's a shame because this place could be great, but once you spend enough time here, you start noticing the underlying behavior of the owner, and it ruins the entire experience. Plenty of better bars in NYC that don't make you feel unwelcome or disrespected. read more

We came for happy hour on a Friday at 5:30pm, and we enjoyed our drinks (1 French 75, 1 Margarita, and 4 Old Fashioneds) but when we paid we were charged us full price for every cocktails except for the Margarita. We asked the bartender and she insisted that only the Margarita was happy hour priced but the happy hour menu clearly says "Classic Cocktails $7," and French 75s and Old Fashioneds are listed as "Classic Cocktails." I never leave negative reviews, and have been to this bar on and off over the years that has always been a reliable enough place, but felt like it was important to leave my recent experience here. So my friend and I stopped in last night for a drink before last call and as we were finishing our beers, the manager on duty began to verbally force us out, even though it was clear we were the last people and wrapping up our evening. When I told him we were about to leave, but didn't appreciate his aggressive attitude, he escalated the situiation by saying he was the manager and "he was the one holding the hammer". That's right, arguing with me from behind the bar with an actual hammer in his hand. Really? This is who you have running your business and how they conduct themselves when they disagree with customers? Arguments happen, but this was a bizarre and totally unhinged response. read more

Very cute atmosphere, loved the aesthetic and heaters outside. But the drinks were not good. We ordered an espresso martini (very mid) and my friend ordered a moscow mule. We watched the first bartender make the drink (she poured out her first attempt and remade it) to which it was completely undrinkable. My friend is a bartender and knew instantly it was made incorrectly. We took the drink back and asked the other bartender to remake it and again it was not great. We barely finished our drinks and headed to the next place. Don't waste your money for expensive drinks that taste not good, not so "good bar" after all. read more

Cool idea for a spot but the drinks here are actively awful. Margarita was intensely sugary and they use a pre-made mix from a jug. I wanted to bounce when I saw that come out of the fridge but it was too late. Pretty sure they forgot to put simple syrup in my girlfriend's drink. This is one of the best bar experiences I've ever had. My five year old son loves the cheese burgers. (they are very delicious). Great beer selection too. And the spicy cilantro margarita is fantastic. Even when it's really busy, the staff still delivers such a happy and calming demeanor. And everything is always right on time. I've never waited long for food or drinks. To back up my comment, I've worked in a 3 Michelin Star restaurant and managed three high-volume restaurants. read more
