Pickleback shot and tater tots!
Dumond A.

Writing this after recently popping by, in the less hectic months of COVID/now that we're officially free to do normal, wonderful things like walk into bars and yell at sports on TV screens. I came in specifically because this is a sister-bar of my favorite bar in NYC, the Whiskey Tavern in Chinatown, Manhattan. Wanted to see if this place had the same vibe. Running down the list: 1. Friendly, prompt, quick service - check 2. Good food for a good price - check 3. Good drink combos, including the famous pickleback shot and a can of beer - check 4. Fun yet safe environment - check This is exactly what I was hoping for. Tried some tater tots, some bbq wings and a few drinks and everything was perfect. And they also check your temperature and have you seated comfortably in your own table / area, complete with a few (transparent) screens here and there. Felt safe but not smothered. If you're in the area, give them a try!

Bar area

Great bar to grab a drink and watch sports games. Came here on a sunday and it was pretty packed but service was good and beer was better. cheers to 2023

Great service, friendly staff and delicious food and drinks! Don't miss out on shuffleboard in the basement!

Pretty careless individuals. Charged me 3 times for a round a whiskey. Bartending 101: remember what someone ordered and charge them for it. Clearly lack the care and professionalism

Extremely unfriendly bartenders and terrible atmosphere. Broken TVs. Would not recommend to a friend -- or even an enemy!

They helped us celebrate our daughters' master's degree graduation. We had drinks, jalapeno poppers and the chicken nachos and they were great. Whiskey Tavern is the most awesome bar ever. Colin is an absolute sweetheart that stops at nothing…read moreto ensure his bar patrons are having a great time! It's a classic after-work watering hole for the finance workers, consultants, and attorneys who populate the area. The decor is awesome, and makes you feel fuzzy and at home!!! But let's talk about the real star of the show: the burger. I've had my fair share of burgers in NYC, but this one takes the cake. The patty is juicy and flavorful, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of char on the outside. The bun is soft and pillowy, holding everything together without getting soggy. And the bacon is mmm mmmmmmm PERFECT!!! Trust me when I say it's worth braving the sea of suits just to get your hands on one of these bad boys. So if you find yourself in Chinatown after work or on a weekend night out with friends (or even alone), do yourself a favor and stop by Whiskey Tavern for some great drinks (not watered down!) and an unforgettable burger experience. You won't regret it! But the REAL reason this place is so special is the PEOPLE. This place is like the bar from that show "Cheers", but in 2026! Just the most amazing people Ever running the show. Their professionalism and personalities make the food and drinks that much more deliciousSometimes you wana go, where everybody knows your naaammmmeee.....sometimes you wana go to WHISKEY TAVERN!!!!!!!!

The Spaniard is a spot for a real drink if you're in the mood…read more I've been here a few times. The last time was a couple of weeks ago, were in town for the weekend. After a nice stop and a secret garden in west Greenwich, I decided to use the points I had racked up and suggested a beverage at the Spaniard. It was agreed upon, in part as i suggested "they probably have a nice bathroom". Of which they did. It helped they had a nice house drink menu too. My gal found something she would like, and she did. After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. Actually the bartender came up and said they were out, would I want a 18 year or 20 year, something like that. it was a bit more money but it was he last beverage of the weekend trip so I got it. My Lourd it was good. If we had time I would have gotten an Oban they had, but we were off. But we will be back, maybe this year. And if I have racked up enough points in the area, I will suggest this excellent whisky bar.

Walking through the cold streets, I stumbled upon The Spaniard which has quickly become one of my favorite NY destinations! We were there for a quick 30 hour trip to experience the "Holiday Magic". After a long day of travel, we just needed something good. We arrived and they accommodated us in a back booth tucked behind the bar, perfect! Our waiter was a delight and very responsive. The martini was kick-ass and our waiter was kind enough to offer us many recommendations. We landed on Charbroiled Oysters, Steak Tartare, and French Onion Dip. Someone slap me, I'm drooling while I write this review over a year later. Seriously, phenomenal. Every bite was amazing! We cleared the table and manged a few cocktails during our time with The Spaniard. If you are ever in the West Village, stop by, you won't be sorry! Thanks me later, actually!

Cuisine: 7 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 7 Overall: 7 This bar has been around for a while now and I can see why. Over 20 beers on tap and a good selection of other alcoholic beverages too. However, my friends and I were here for the food, so that's what this review is based on. She-wolf Sourdough (7/10) - It was good bread, but nothing really special. Hot Crab Dip (7/10) - Very veggie forward flavors, but you do taste crab. Not bad. Btw, this dish comes with a few pieces of the She-Wolf Sourdough. Danish Dog (7.5/10) - Great snap to the bite of the dog itself. Bread was great. Pickles are interesting, but the curry mayo should be stronger and more bold. Simple mustard would have been better. Old Bay Chicken Wings (8/10) - Nice plump and juicy wings with that dusting of Old Bay seasoning. Yum! Fried Chicken Sandwich (5/10) - Chicken was fried well and bread was fine. However, the chili miso honey was way too much for me. Too sweet, not spicy at all, and just didn't work well. Dry Aged Burger (7/10) - Beef patty needs more seasoning and a better crust. No real char at all, though a decent beef flavor was present. Not into the sprouts, but the tomato jam was good. From what I heard, I had high hopes for the food here. In the end, it was a satisfying meal, but nothing special something I travel so far for again.

I was not disappointed AT ALL!! First impressions: it's a bit of a compact space, but there's also plenty of tables/seating to choose from....although it does fill in fast!! We came relatively early around 4pm, so we were able to take advantage of some of their Happy Hour prices, including: $14 Fried Chicken Sandwich $10 Cocktails, including the Frozen Espresso Martini I also got the Smash Burger and the Yuzu Sake, which weren't included in the Happy Hour. You order your food & drinks at the bar, but they bring the food out to wherever you're sitting once it's ready. As for the cocktails, they were both great!! The Frozen Espresso Martini was very creatively presented and I enjoyed the look and taste of it. The Yuzu Sake was strong and great quality! For the food, both the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Smash Burger were delicious!! The Fried Chicken Sandwich especially tasted so unique and creative with the sauce on it, but I also just really loved the solid burger and could tell it had excellent quality. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Torst, and I highly recommend stopping by to grab some of their food and drinks!
