It's described as a "Bar & Grill" in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, but Black Rabbit doesn't serve much food. I did try the mini hamburgers and they were great. I was expecting a full menu but I think they just offer mini burgers, bratwurst, nachos and pickles. We visited on a Friday night. It was packed. The small staff did a remarkable job of filling orders. I would have taken photos but it was so dark inside, I didn't see the point. My flash would have gone off and that would have been so annoying. It's billed as a 19th century bar with private booths. That's accurate. I attended a party there and I went visiting from booth-to-booth since each only seated 4-6 people. We drank pickle backs ( whiskey shots) because some in our party heard that the staff at Black Rabbit makes their own pickle juice. It was very good. There's also an outdoor garden/ gathering space which was fun but it might not see much use as the cold weather arrives. A good dive bar. Very hipster. There are jackalopes on the wall, an oil painting of an old guy at the center of the bar, very eclectic decor. Big wooden booths make this a solid place to catch up with a small group, and it looked like they had some outdoor seating in the back as well. I was here past happy hour time during the week, but the prices here are still decent. My friend and I grabbed two rounds of vodka sodas and ended up owing $30 each. The bar had a handful of folks in here on a Thursday at 6 but wasn't too overcrowded. I liked the vintage style glasses and fun straw my cocktail came with. Our bartender was attentive enough and made good drinks. There are some TVs here in case you want to watch some sports. It's conveniently located right off the train. Walked into Black Rabbit on a Saturday night around 8pm to grab cocktails ahead of meeting friends out later in the evening. The cocktail menu included a selection of martinis, including a pickle martini which I knew I had to get and happy I did so as it was perfectly made. The ambiance was dark and mysterious with various black rabbit themed decorations of art and taxidermy lining the rustic and wooden walls. The bartender was very friendly and service was quick and smooth. The pickle martini itself was delicious and I could've ordered several if I wasn't pacing myself for a longer night ahead. The bar food menu included a selection of cheeses as well as mini burgers which I personally opted for and exceeded my expectations. After the martini and grub we opted for a couple of their draft beers which were also a great choice. By the time we were leaving, the bar was full and there was a lively birthday party being hosted in the back. I'd recommend black rabbit for any type of evening you're looking to have. read more

This place is not good. I appreciate dive bars, local watering holes, the alike; but not when there's foul bartenders with no sense of service. I will never return to a spot where bartenders stare with no acknowledgement of your presence--a wave, a "hello, I'll be with you in a second"--nothing. Further, the response to a request for a menu should not be "it's over there". Why not hand me a menu, or just tell me what you have, instead of making me walk to the other side of the bar to get a menu for myself. Next time I'll just pour the pint and save the tip! The only thing this place has going for it is the ambience. Some elements were a very cool old school style, and the booths had swinging doors; however, the charm was delayed when we had to bus the table ourselves before we could sit down. Spent a relaxing late afternoon in their cozy backyard. They have happy hour everyday until 8pm. We got a pint of beer and a shot of whiskey deal for $10. Great for reserving for large groups or parties. They let you bring in outside food since their in house food menu is slim pickings. Best part was that I didn't have to shout-talk over loud music like most bars. It was easy to have a conversation with friends without needing to scream in each others ears. This place is awesome! Only been here 5 minutes and I love it. Literally walked right past it and knew I had to stop in, it's a total vibe. With its red ceiling, worn wooden bar top, and private saloon style booths, the bar has a very cozy hole-in-the-wall vibe. Definitely would say this is where the locals go to drink. A bar with nice interior with dark brown wood and dim lightings. It is not a quiet bar but not too noisy to enjoy conversations either. Me and my friends enjoyed our catch up in their boxed semi private-ish table. Their glass wine list was okay, a little expensive side for local one, but i didn't find one I would like to have particularly so just went for their recommendation of their original drink with ginger and bourbon. Trivia with Sean and Casey is so much fun. It's the perfect night to bring the entire community together. I went to black rabbit in Brooklyn to catch up with an old friend. This bar had a really cool feel to it, with red lights, booths, and old photos that gave it a divey, old school feel. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful. We went for happy hour and had the house lager for $5 a pour. I wish there were more happy hour options though. This place is pretty damn awesome. Selection of beers was impressive. It's great for a small group of people if you want the private booth. Four people fit comfortably, six might be pushing it, but it's do-able. Private booth option was acutally my favorite thing about the bar, especially with the button to call for service. Nice that they leave you alone, and wait on you when you're ready. There is an outside patio which is nice and the place itself is spacious. I would definitely go back. Right off the bat, the decor is amazing. I love the little booth areas that are so cozy. Every inch of the bar is outfitted with something interesting, from the booths, to the back area, to the yard. Another thing I also like to include in my reviews is if a bar feels like the type of place a woman can go to alone and not be harassed or just feel comfortable, and I get the vibe that I a woman can grab a book and sit back and have a nice time. I love the Black Rabbit Pub -- mostly because the staff are friendly and efficient. And because of the old world look and feel the interior has to it. The Black Rabbit Pub is great to go with 2 or more friends and just have fun. Put your mobile in your pocket or leave it at home, and enjoy interacting with living beings!! Pretend you are in the UK at a real pub back before the internet and smart phones existed. As for my going a great deal -- it is limited because I live in Manhattan and only get to this section of NY every few months. But this is a must stop and meet friends for libations before heading out further in the night. The noise level varies on the time of day. On some days, it is as quiet as a private dining room, and at other times, there are a number of customers and the noise level raises. read more

On a Saturday in the late hours of 11pm this was our oasis in the late night desert. I loved the array of beers and the food selection was pretty tasty as well. This is an odd quirk of mine, but I love that their food menu is limited (at least it was at the moment). Sometimes it can become daunting if you're skimming through pages and pages of menus. Came for an outdoor Covid-era happy hour and was not disappointed. They have a lovely courtyard out back and we were the only ones there on Labor Day at 5pm - place to ourselves!
