I long for a casual watering hole and Reclamation has been an old reliable for practically the last decade. Williamsburg has so many nightlife options now that places like this end up getting lost in the shuffle. Their happy hour is lovely, the drinks are potent, the bartenders are fun, and the general vibe here is laid back. The first thing folks will notice is the rainbow swag from the exterior, which makes this venue a safe space for our friends in the LGBTQ community. During the daytime this place has a bit of a rustic feel and becomes a cool intimate bar at night. They have a little area for outdoor seating in the back / front but the booths are perfect for some group convo or the bar is good for some one-on-one time. I appreciate that they have some pre-made cocktails (margaritas?) to cut down on the wait time for eager patrons. I try to indulge on their happy hour here, which I believe is from 5pm-7pm. I also trust the bartenders to surprise me with a beautiful and stiff drink, which has never failed thus far. The hibiscus mule gets my vote followed closely by anything in their whiskey selection. The prices are good for the area and it's rarely packed. I value good service and a good drink and feel this place is the establishment is a good option to get the night started or end it on a good note. read more

The clear winner for me was Fire It Up! a mix of jalapeno infused tequila, lime juice, honey and hibiscus syrup, and IPA. A nice blend of bitter, spicy, and sweet. My second drink was Daisy Goes to Athens, another jalapeno infused tequila drink, but the flavors in this one did not mesh as well. My girlfriend stuck with Lavender Tom Collins, which is not my style, but she liked it enough to get two. Quantity: Strong and tasty drinks. Value: $14-$15 for Cocktails. Ambiance: Reclamation Bar is located in East Williamsburg. The dim space emphasizes the antique features that make the building unique. Reclamation was an okay place to kill time between dinner and a party in Greenpoint. We waited at the bar for a long time to get drinks, then grabbed a table. Service was pretty bad; we made the standard hopeful eye contact with multiple people behind the bar who almost seemed to make it a point of not coming over. Since they were Mexican-ish (they have some kind of taco pop-up going on) I went for a margarita ($12, yikes). My boyfriend got a well gin and tonic ($5). The gin and tonic was reasonably strong and not bad quality. My margarita was small, weak, and flavorless. I could imagine the space looking pretty cool, but it was too bright inside and things looked a bit run down. The bar itself is unique. The vibe was weird, with too-loud music for a chill crowd. The dog-friendly policy was actually a detractor for us-- there was a dog that clearly did not want to be there hiding under the bar stools, barking aggressively. It calmed down a lot once he left. Seriously BK's hidden gem. I've been here on a Friday night and it was not as packed as I expected it to be with a $5 happy hour... Legit thought it was too good to be true. I've been here twice now and I know every before every Brooklyn Steel show, I'll be coming here. It's even a good date spot. They have shuffleboard and video games in the back, good music, and it's pretty lowkey. The food is also cheap and comes in big portions. One thing I do have to say is I wish the nachos came with more toppings. It was like 3-1 in chips so there was a lot left over. I'd rather recommend the house queso. Came with so much! Worst service I have ever received. I have never encountered someone so rude and unprofessional in my life. The bartender who refused to give his actual name and said his name was "pineapple" went out of his way to be incredibly rude to everyone for no reason. Before you could open your mouth to even order he would say something incredibly snarky with an insane attitude. He wanted to start a fight with everyone. I would never ever go back to this bar, and they even had cameras in the bathrooms. I have never felt the need to write a review but I truly have never experienced such disrespectful service. This bar is known to locals so we decided to check it out, and I can honestly say I'm so glad we did. We were there on a Sunday so it wasn't crowded, I imagine it gets a lot busier Friday's and Saturday's bcuz the drinks are amazing! I'm not a big drinker and I enjoyed my hibiscus mule soooo much! My friends also got the thot hottie, and paper plane, they were also impressed! The bartender was super nice and fast. The prices were reasonable as well. My neighborhood go-to. I live across the street and Reclamation is the bar we frequent before going out on the weekends or just to grab a drink after work. The music and ambiance is always great. Discovered People Under The Stairs here (where have I been?) Very low-key and a great place to converse with friends. Seems it's still trying to find it's identity, but is definitely getting there. The bourbon and whiskey selection is great. Order a sazerac if you've never had one (or if you have!) They are one of the few places I know that knows how to make one and make it well. A great place to grab a couple of cocktails any night of the week. There's no sign and the awning is bare metal. Don't be discouraged as it's part of the aesthetic. read more

Ok, so a group of friends all arrived in NYC for a wedding and we choose this place for the unofficial welcome party. The staff were very chilled out, made their drinks strong without being overwhelming, solid beer selection (which I think they rotate), and very good toasted sandwiches. We had a big night, and hung around till about 3. The room is dark and charming, great ambience, and a beautiful bar which is apparently made from reclaimed wood. I'll be back. Highly recommend. Bald headed white dude served my white girlfriends immediately and then ignored the other half of my party (two women of color including myself) for 15-20 mins while chatting to other patrons, making a seltzer, taking a long and elaborate time to pour a beer etc. When we smiled and waved to try and get his attention he said "It's not like I'm not working." This is my ATF dive bar in north Brooklyn. The atmosphere is fun and energetic, and the staff is actually really friendly. A big shout-out to Jade (bartender/manager/maybe owner too) who makes it feel more like your friend's living room than a Williamsburg bar. Kept trying time and time again to give this place a chance. Overall it comes to horrible service and staff with very poor demeanor and rude attitudes. I was an early advocate and brought many people through the doors - a neighbor just doors away. But after worse and worse staff coming in to the mix - we are done! On Saturday 11/4 - let's give Reclamation one more chance, we thought. My fiancé and I arrived, sat up at the bar and waited, made eye contact, smiled, nodded at the two tending bar (1 male and 1 female) - time and time again- it was not even busy. There was a decent crowd but still seats available even at the bar. We still waited. Enjoying each other's company while another 10 minutes passed. The two bartenders continued to clean glasses, organize bar, pour second rounds for customers, and have small talk, and also we get looks over at us. And nothing! No service. Another 5 minutes we actually began planning our departure. They both look over at us, so we think "Great! Well, let's order a drink since we are STILL here." Then, the two of them begin giggling, chatting, whispering. We seriously couldn't believe it. We throw our arms up and the female comes over and asks, "what's up?" We replied, "we've been here over 15 minutes, watching, nodding, being patient and nothing. We made gestures numerous times - and nothing." She apologized and asked what we wanted. We said "nothing." She apologized again and I said "I appreciate that, but really what gives? Your partner there basically looked at us and turned away 3 times." She said, "oh, he's just my bar back and can't serve drinks." I replied, "why did he serve up four drinks to other people and turn away from us after looking us clear in the face then?" Caught off guard she said, "well, we just didn't see you." Clear as day at the main part of the bar?!! It is your job to see us! We are here to spend money and have a good time. She apologized again. We nodded and left. Harefield Road & Matt Torrey's are a million times more professional and welcoming than this young entitled staff. Never again. Reclamation bar is now one of my go-to's anytime I'm in Williamsburg. The bar has a cozy vibe, but very spacious. It's a solid bet whether you have 5 friends, or come in with a date. I've ended up here a few times and everytime it's been a good experience. Jade and Connor do a good job maintaning the real local chill feel to the bar. I recently spent an evening at Reclamation Bar with a large group of friends, including men and women. The patio area was very nice, covered from the rain and protected from the wind. The bouncer was a delight to chat with while waiting for our rides at the end of the night. And those are the only two things that deserve any stars. The entire night, none of the women in our group could get a drink at the bar. Women were invisible to these bartenders. Anytime one of the women in our group wanted a drink, we had to send a man to get it for us. The men, of course, had no trouble. Perhaps the name of the bar indicates that the misogynistic bartenders are trying to reclaim the 1950s. Ladies, take a hard pass on this place and look elsewhere. read more
