My favorite bourbon was in attendance so I enjoyed a couple of those. Some of the folks I was with ordered food and it looked really good. Every night of the week might feel like a different experience here and thus it's one of the neighborhood's more versatile options. If it's just about finding a place with extensive outside seating. Four Five Six fits the bill. During the weekend afternoons, this place has a sprawling al fresco scene, ideal for large groups hoping to drink and grub together. There are some comfy couches and limited seating within their aesthetically pleasing interior, but a bulk of their customers will end up outdoors. While they open as early as 8am on some days, I'd recommend coming earlier before the evening service kicks in and the place is packed. Their cocktails are in the $14-15 range, which is expected in these parts. The hibiscus basil margarita is always a safe bet as is the cucumber fresco. All the smoke is my preferred drink here and it contains a nice mix of grapefruit, lavender honey, lime, and a generous pour of mezcal. The beer drafts are seasonal and the wine selection is super decent. I would suggest splitting a bottle amongst friends for a nice boozy evening. The food is a bit of a surprise with their variety of pastas, salads, and sandwiches. The pastas are supposedly made in house and include items such as ravioli, lasagna, tagliatelle, and even gnocchi. Their burger is deceivingly tasty and I appreciate that they have a vegetarian equivalent that is just as popular. The skirt steak gets my vote, but mainly because they also offer sauteed carrots / zucchini / brussel sprouts as viable sides. Sometimes there is a massive line to the bar. I realize that all establishments have a tough time with staffing but the waits can be long sometimes. Add to the fact that drinks / food are hard to come by when seated the whole time, which is likely a microcosm of said staffing issues. I would recommend their jazzy Wednesday evenings with a cocktail and/or wine in hand with some good company. i had my birthday dinner here with a group of 13 total. we ended up having this room entirely to ourselves as no one else was there, which was really nice. the ambiance was super nice, great mood lighting and plant decor, it was perfect for the dinner. the drinks were interesting, nothing super notable, but the options were unique and at a pretty good price point. we got the 3 for $18 crostini option, which was delicious but kinda expensive for just being 3 small crostinis. we also ordered the mushroom tagliatelle which was ok but again nothing stand-out compared to other mushroom pastas i've had. the pasta was obviously homemade which was nice though, but the dish overall was kinda bland and could've been more flavorful. the parmesan cheese the waiter added on top was carrying the dish because there really wasn't a strong flavor profile otherwise. overall, the vibe of this restaurant really lived up to expectations but sadly, the food dishes we tried did not. read more

I emailed Four Five Six to reserve a table for my fiancés birthday for 8 people. I got an email back saying "we have added you to the reservation book, look forward to seeing you" When we get there, they have no record in their reservation book. After much back and forth they admitted they must've forgotten to put it in... We were not accommodated, told to sit outside (it's freezing and we reserved an inside table) waited 45 minutes for drinks and then another hour for food The staff was not accommodating even though the issue was clearly their fault. The woman waitress who seemed to be new was the only redeeming quality about this experience. We used to come here all the time for drinks/dinner/ snacks and will no longer come back and will never recommend to friends. read more

I had the chance to visit this spot with a group of friends for a birthday on a Friday night in October. overall this spot seems great! Spacious outdoor area and a comfortable lounge type setting inside. This seems like a great spot for groups and the venue allows you to make reservations for groups for indoor and outdoor tables. They also have a food menu which seems ideal for a bar type of situation. I didn't have their burger but it looks extremely appetizing. Overall I will say that drink prices are a bit on the up side here. I know we're going through inflation but $10 for a can of beer sounds a little steep to me. The small lemon wedge added nothing. I could have used an entire lemon, and it still would have been a disappointment. One star for the beauty of the venue & one star for the doorman. Came here last night with my friends and bf before a concert at Brooklyn Steel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and I loved all the art! The drinks are also good. I'm giving only 3 stars because our food took a very long time to arrive - I'm talking 45 minutes for burgers and pasta dishes. The burger itself was ok, I wasn't prepared for the two patties and it ended up being a little too much food for me. Why not having one patty as a baseline and adding the second one as an option? The portions were huge for the pasta, salads, and sides as well - in itself, not a bad thing, we just weren't prepared for the amount of food that arrived and unfortunately some of it got wasted. All in all, a cute place for drinks and food before Brooklyn Steel, but make sure you get there early! read more

I absolutely love Four Five Six! The vibes inside are so cozy and homey, and their ample outdoor space is so fun when the weather is warm. I've gone here so many times that I decided to host my 30th birthday party here, and could not have had a better experience! The vibes and music were the perfect atmosphere for they party. I was able to reserve a large space in the back with couches and love seats, and guests went to the bar for drinks where the service was quick and the cocktails were amazing. People were also able to order food if they wanted it - I know a couple of my friends had the lasagna and loved it!! I would definitely recommend hosting a party here, but would also recommend it for a date night, or just drinks with friends. You can't go wrong with Four Five Six! read more

This place is a hidden GEM! I took my family here for my Mom's 60th birthday, never having been here before, and choosing it on yelp images and intuition alone, I couldn't have been happier. The live music, with a stand up bass, piano player, drummer and saxophonist were KILLER! The space itself is beautiful, with interesting art and decor that makes you feel at home, while also awakening your curiosity. Rachel and Bently were our servers and they, along with the rest of the team, helped my sister and I pull off an amazing surprise for my mom. I work from home and I am proud to announce my favorite restaurant/bar 456 is now serving lunch/brunch!!! The other day I set up shop (my laptop) and got all my work done. In that time I had a heavenly chicken waffles and coffee. Hung out with the cool bartender who told me all the many pieces of art that adorn the walls are from local Brooklyn artists. Probably 3.5 out of 5 in my book. On the plus side, the staff was very nice, and the various food items that we got were delicious. The rosemary potatoes in particular were outstanding (I'm a potato fan). The bad is that the bar/lounge room was freezing cold. The staff indicated that they haven't figured out the whole heating thing yet. I don't know if it's a new/expansion room or what, but it was pretty ridiculous to sit there freezing. We eventually moved to the other room (more restaurantish) and it was heated. The lavender cocktail that I had wasn't great. There was no perceptible lavender taste -- it was totally overpowered by the grapefruit. And I think the amount of liquid in the glass set a new "low" record for me -- it was a small glass, and it was more ice than cocktail. read more

We stumbled in here after the Alina Baraz concert at Brooklyn Steel. It was a Tuesday night, so it was pretty quiet. We came here because the place had such nice ambiance, with really cute lighting inside and outside. We were lucky enough to come right before the kitchen closed, and I was thankful that they still were able to seat us (this is the reason I forgot to check-in on Yelp when we got there, d'oh!). I was originally going to get the Beef Carpaccio, but they ran out of it, so I got the Poached Chicken Breast. I'm sure glad they ran out of the beef, because this chicken was so much better than I expected. It was coated in a thick, rich, sweet balsamic vinaigrette. The challenging part with dishes like this is getting the inside of the meat to taste as good as the outside, and they certainly succeeded in doing this. The inside was moist and flavorful. This was easily one of the greatest chicken breasts I've ever had. The rosemary potatoes and greens salad went perfectly with it. I got a mojito, which was a bit strong for me but still good. My friend got the prosciutto pizza which I tried--this was pretty good as well. This is a nice place for a date, particularly because of the lighting and music.
