Our waitress was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the menu. We had the Jonah Crab with Avocado and Yuzu Kosho. If you like crab this is a must try. My boyfriend and I went to Le Crocodile on a Sunday night, naively hoping we could get a table without a reservation. We could not; however, they let us order takeout and have a drink at the bar while we waited. We ordered the Roast Chicken with Herb Jus and Fries and the Bolognese. We originally weren't going to order the bolognese but the hostess mentioned it when we asked for recommendations, saying "it tastes like your mom made it and she really loves you." The roast chicken was solid. Good flavor and was juicy. A good size proportion. Fries weren't great reheated but we didn't expect them to be. The bolognese, on the other hand, and I cannot stress this enough, was the BEST bolognese I've ever had. The hostess was spot on. It's tasted like a home cooked meal and was so flavorful and well done. I was actually sad when I finished because I couldn't stop eating it. I was highly interested in this restaurant to book an intimate dinner with loved ones in their private cellar room. I wanted to first have dinner (which I didn't need to) and check out the space since the Google reviews were positive. I booked the reservation a month in advance and told this viewing was possible. Fast forward to the date of the dinner I called to change the time and told the viewing was impossible since they booked a wedding and then told any future viewings may be unavailable despite having a reservation. I'm extremely disappointed there was no courtesy call (or an email) and lack of consideration for guests like myself who travel from other parts of New York to get to Brooklyn. I hope moving forward their lack of communication we unfortunately experienced is not repeated again and does not dampen other guests' future life events and moments they wished to host with their loved ones. read more

I called, I was extremely pleasant (per usual) and was still denied seating - but immediately after/ my man called and literally said nothing special yet we were accommodated , for the same day, literally the same time I requested - That classifies under a few things, but Ill just let that sit there . Anyway - I was eager to try the food here so i moved on ... when we got there we were seated rather quickly & greeted by Michael who was super sweet . But overall i really think people over hype places nowadays. There were people who just got married dining there , along with casual diners like us who came straight from 3 office . We received some sourdough with butter and oil ... the oil was entirely over salted, terrible. We ordered our hors d'oeuvres and honestly I was the only person eating them . He didn't like the scallops with rhubarb , I like everything pickled, similar to a ceviche . He HATED the escargot, he said it tastes like pizza and after he said that, I couldn't get it out my head . The chicken wasn't bad, however salt pepper and some bush seasoning on the outer skin was the only seasoning used for sure and I didn't like the fish lol . Le Crocodile is an upscale french restaurant located in a hotel in Williamsburg. I thought the restaurant had very lovely ambience, which is dark and illuminated with soft lighting. It's a great spot for a date, though the menu is fairly pricey. Service is nice, though we got booted two hours in as there was another reservation behind us. I got one of their signature gin cocktails, which was good and strong. I came with a group and also ordered appetizers to share, including beef tartare, mushroom pate, and leeks with hazelnut. I thought all of these appetizers were delicious and very special. For mains, I shared a steak with frites and chicken with frites. I thought the chicken was overall better, as it was basically half of a chicken that was roasted in a yummy and herby brine. It was a great value dish, and I couldn't finish it and ended up taking a lot home. I didn't enjoy the medium rare steak as much. It was much smaller and only four pieces. I thought that one of the middle cuts were pretty good, and there was an interesting chewiness/bounciness to the meat that I've never had before. However, the end piece felt charred and burnt. Overall, I'm glad that I tried this place. I thought the appetizers really shone and enjoyed the chicken entree. read more

Le Crocodile is the place you need to go when you're looking for food that's not only beautiful and delicious but memorable. Starting with the hospitality - you immediately feel welcomed and comfortable. You can feel the genuine warmth radiating from the staff & their excitement for you to enjoy what's to come. For the food - visually, exceptional. It's beautiful, these dishes aren't performative but seriously taste just as beautiful as they look. We started with the scallops - fresh, acidic, and bright. The chili was the perfect addition for a pop of heat. The Mushroom Pâté with Black Truffle was hands down my favorite of the night. I'm always a lover of pâté and truffle so I'm bias, but I highly recommend this dish. For a starter we also had the Leeks Vinaigrette with Hazelnuts. Again, super bright and fresh & the leftover cream sauce was great with the bread they bring to the table with the pâté. We split the Duck Leg with Spring Beets and Cherries as our main. For this, I was a bit disappointed as the meat was somewhat dry. Fortunately though, the sauce made up for it. I can't even explain how delicious this sauce was, I was practically licking the plate clean & it definitely helped moisten up the meat. The final dish of the night was the Sticky Banana Date Pudding. I completely understand why this is the dish I saw recommended everywhere, by everyone. I've always been a chocolate girl, but this easily made the top 10 list of best desserts I've ever had. For drinks, we each ended up getting a dirty martini, which was a solid 9/10. With 20% tip the bill ended up coming to about $200. I personally think for the amount of food & the quality of the dishes + the hospitality this price is completely fair. After our drinks, we left the beautiful bar and were seated at our table. Our waitress told us the mushroom pate was not being served so we chose to start with the Country Pâté with Foie Gras and Pistachio. The Country Pâté was deelish! My wife chose the Trout Almondine for her main entree. She still raves it was the best trout she ever had. Served with Asparagus and Marconas, it was a well prepared dish. I was in the mood for Steak so naturally I chose the Steak Frites au Poivre. The cook and flavor on the steak was excellent. The "au Poivre" was a little strong for my liking. It was a little too peppery, I had to push it to the side. I will not let it detract from our incredible meal. Dining here at Le Crocodile is truly a five star experience. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful. It's very spacious with a nice bar area. For starters, we ordered the mushroom pate and leeks with hazelnuts. The pate was DELICIOUS and this is a must order for anyone. We also got the herbed chicken with French fries and cacio e pepe risotto. The chicken was absolutely amazing. It was covered in pulverized herbs, and the French fries were soaking in chicken jous. A bit of chicken and a bite of French fry.... the most satisfying bite. Came here on a Friday night and we were able to get a last min reservation. The ambiance and service of the restaurant was excellent. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about each dish. The service was very good. We started with the Jonah crab which was really really good and the bob lettuce salad. The salad had the best, light, flavorful dressing. I loved it. Next we ordered the onion soup which was good, but also pretty heavy and filling so I only ate half. I would suggest getting the top extra charred. I liked the soup, but it tasted a little bland compared to other onion soups I've had at other restaurants. Next we ordered the halibut and the steak frites. The halibut was very flavorful but the portion size was tiny. I really wish it was a larger portion of fish. The steak was good but there was way too much green sauce on top which drowned the entire steak. They call it butter but it didn't taste of such, it's more of a chimichuri, but portion size in comparison to the steak was a bit much. The deserts are really good. We ordered both the crème brûlée and the sticky banana pudding which came with an amazing caramel sauce. It def would be good with a side of ice cream. Overall it was good, some dishes outshined while the others werent anything to rave about. My expectations were pretty high so I was expecting a lot. read more

I was kind of disappointed to see that there wasn't much variety in the way of breakfast items but I thought, hey, the few items they have are probably delicious! My sister ordered a full English breakfast (it was not) and I ordered the eggs w/ artichoke, spinach, and gigante beans. I understand that the English breakfast was Le Crocodile's version but then it shouldn't be called that if it's missing the Heinz baked beans (what are gigante beans anyway?!), bacon, and fried bread. My entree was literally two sunny-side up eggs (kind of undercooked, too) covered w/ a couple artichoke halves, a sprinkle of spinach, and those gigante beans again. Again, I know I'm not dining at a diner but for the price point of these entrees, you'd think it would at least come with a side of toast. No, that will be an extra $7. Service was pleasant and that was the only saving grace. The breakfast was a disappointment and while I would certainly return for lunch/dinner, I would not recommend this place for breakfast. After wandering along Bedford Avenue and soaking up its SF vibe, we arrived at le Crocodile. It's a beautiful space with a great vibe. We were able to leverage their happy hour for our first course. There was a limited selection of wines, cocktails and appetizers. The red wine was very good. The big wins were on the apps- we shared the excellent mushroom pate and a really good country pate, accompanied by excellent sourdough bread. We headed to our table for our main course. The staff were very pleasant and really attentive. Wine by the glass was good. I had the steak frites. It was very flavorful and accompanied by a mountain of fries. If I had a big appetite, I would have gone for the steak au poivre. The roasted chicken was really good. My wife had the Jonah crab salad as her main. It was disappointing. It had a ton of mayonnaise and a big part of it was apple cubes. This was a clunker and not up to the level of the rest of the meal. Prices were in line with a first tier Manhattan French restaurant. Our experience with brunch could be summed up as extremely overpriced and entirely underwhelming. To start with positives, we had a large group of 7 and were seated right when we arrived at our reservation time. They did not make us wait for the entire group to be present to be seated. The group tables are booths in the back of the restaurant and a little separated from the main dining area. The remaining 2- and 4-person tables are extremely close together in the center of the restaurant. We had two different waiters for our table, and they were both very friendly. The speed of service was very slow. It took almost an hour and a half for the food to come out. This was especially strange because many of the brunch options are not cooked to order. For example, the quiche is just a slice cut out of a larger quiche pie, it is not an individually made serving. There were very few fresh items on the menu in terms of fruit or veggie dishes. The "side salad" I ordered was a tea-cup-sized saucer of just greens. There were no veggies, no croutons, no dressing, nothing to make it what you would think of as a "salad"... and yet this tiny handful of lettuce still cost $15. That is just crazy, even for NYC prices. The oeufs en meurette was tasty and the sauce had nice flavor, but it was mostly chunks of bread and was such a small serving that not long after leaving the restaurant we were hungry again. Omg l'obsessede. EVERY SINGLE DISH knocked it out of the park. The service was fabulous, the ambiance is great, and truly this is maybe the best meal I've had in 2023 thus far. I'm a non drinker, so I had the mint lemonade - fab. To start, we (three people) shared the mushroom pâté, the trout rillette, and the leeks. Let me tell you, I absolutely devoured the trout (more than my dining companions, I couldn't stop), and the leeks were incredible. I know leeks are not usually a "wow let's get it" order but GET IT. I actually hate mushrooms, but I gave the pâté a try and it wasn't super mushroomy so I enjoyed it too. Next, we shared the escargot, the halibut, and the orzo cacio e pepe. The escargot were incredible and so different, more citrusy than the usually garlicky preparation, and the halibut was cooked to perfection and so incredibly tasty. The orzo cacio e pepe is a must. I found out that my sister had dinner reservations here for her birthday. I'm across the country, but somehow wanted to see if they could accommodate some sort of pre-pay surprise option and they delivered! I spoke with Ashley who was so helpful in helping me get this going.
