I ate dinner at Luana's Tavern while in Brooklyn for a work trip. I was craving Fish & Chips and saw this place had decent reviews. Even though I was a solo diner I still made a reservation. I'm glad I did, as it was a very busy Saturday evening when I got there. They have a huge covered patio area which I'm sure is nice when it's warmer out. I was seated inside by the bar. First time visit for brunch and I'm going to bet that other meals here follow suit similar to their brunch. I think Luana's has been around for two years and I had the opportunity to visit today for a holiday weekend brunch. Sometimes, a pub or tavern lends to a reputation that the food is kind of well, bar food---satisfying but not the best quality. Brunch at Luana's was the pub exception to the rule. For one thing, the space was beautiful, whether indoors or outside on their patio. We originally started outdoors, but bees started to swarm around the area which was when we took things indoors. To start, we selected a drink from their Spritz menu. Mine was Limoncello while the other was Hugo (Elderflowr). For brunch selection, I finally went outside of the (always ordering eggs) box and selected French Toast. The other order was the Ricotta Pancakes. Opinion? They believe in serving more natural products/high quality ingredients. The syrup for griddle orders was pure Maple Syrup and not the high fructose variety found on store shelves. Big plus for me. French Toast was unlike anything I've ever tasted: two thick Brioche slices, light and served with a berry compote and fresh cream. This was to die for and I was ecstatic to pass on ordering anything related to eggs/omelets. I tasted the Ricotta Pancakes which was also extremely good. Both dishes were excellent. My experience today merits five stars: delicious food, service and ambience. I'm eager to return again. I viewed the dinner menu and there doesn't seem to be many choices that aren't fried or red meat. If I could select a healthy option, I'm willing to try and will update my review. Visiting Luana's Tavern for brunch was a great kick off to wrapping up summer during this holiday weekend. But don't fret, there are celebrations taking place here all year long. read more

After dinner nearby, we stopped by here for drinks and dessert since we saw the nice outdoor seating. The outdoor space is covered with faux grass and plenty of seating, which would be perfect on a sunny day. I ordered a Specialty Old Fashioned ($17), which was pricier than the regular but not really sure what the difference even is to be honest. We also got an order of Cheesecake ($17) and Franks in a Blanket ($14). While both dishes were good, they were super pricey for what we got. Overall, nice spot to dine on a sunny day out. My friend and I went to Luana's Tavern at 6pm on a Wednesday. I made a reservation, but it was not necessary for the outdoor space. I was not super attentive to what was going on inside, but it also did not appear to be packed. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and the outdoor vibes were fantastic! My only small issue was they seated another party of two immediately near us when there were plenty of open tables available. I got the smash burger ($23) and my friend got the wild mushroom pappardelle ($21). We split a brownie sundae, but I didn't inquire about the price. My friend enjoyed the pappardelle and had no complaints. I thought the fries were done better than the burger but the dish itself is nothing special, especially for a $23 price point. The patties on the smash burger are so thin they have to cook it medium, and nothing about the sauce or flavor on the meat was outstanding. The brownie in the sundae was also on the dry side, slightly compensated for by the ice cream, but also unimpressive. Service was phenomenal, and I wish I caught the server's name so I could recommend her! She did very frequent check backs but in a friendly, not pushy, manner. Overall, I would recommend Luana's if you're looking for a more upscale dining spot with decent food and excellent vibes. read more

They have a beautiful vintage-looking bar that takes center stage, as well as lots of seating (including outdoor). The waitstaff was patient and kind, and they answered every question we had about the menu. This place is known for its burgers and duck wings, so we tried both of the burgers on the menu and the wings. The burgers were the best burgers I've tried in years. Randomly came across Luana's Tavern while walking in the neighborhood one day. I really love the spacious outdoor seating area they have and the staff is usually friendly. It seems quite family /neighborhood friendly as I always see families with small children there. It's great that there is a place in the neighborhood for families to go if they want to have cocktails + small bites + a nice enclosed space for their little ones. I would recommend Luana's for a more chill place. I haven't tried any of their actual brunch / dinner items, but I have found that their appetizers does the job if paired with a nice beverage. The onions would be better if they were caramelized. The temperature (Medium) was perfect, the flavor on point, and it also comes with a side of fries. If we are looking to compare burgers in Carroll Gardens - Elena's Burger from Cremini's still holds the crown. The cocktail list is one to check out. We have tried the Smoke Show and Espresso Martini (made with Mezcal -$15). well-made drinks! They also have plenty of outdoor seating. Highly recommend this place. The outdoor patio is such a vibe on a nice day. The drinks and food were delicious! We got the pretzels, spinach and artichoke dip, corn ribs, patatas bravas, chicken frites, tavern burger, crispy chicken sandwich and short rib tacos and I would get them all again! We originally came for just drinks but once we saw the food coming out for other people we decided to stay for dinner and it did not disappoint. Would give 5 stars but the service was not the best had to wait 30 min to get a drink (because they only had one bartender on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend) and all of the entrees came out around the same time except the crispy chicken sandwich which ended up coming out like 20 min later after all of the rest of us were basically done eating. The co-owner, Enrique, was our server and it seems like it's all operated by his very cute family! The food was great, I loved everything and it was super convenient for those that don't like to cook. Walking on Court st we decided to walk in and check out Luana's Tavern. Upon entry the host greeted us and we decided to sit at the bar. We had the BLT salad, duck wings, Tavern burger and fingerlings. Everything was delicious. The tavern burger was my favorite. The service was amazing and the food was delicious! I saw this place had opened a short time ago in what many thought was a cursed space. They were wrong. Tonight I experienced amazing food, warm service and no pretensions when we popped in for dinner. The space is lovely and successfully blends the original early 1900s bar with a more modern and comfortable aesthetic. More to the point, the food on the straight forward menu was executed beautifully, and matched by an extensive tap beer, wine and specialty cocktail list. I die for steamed clams and I think this time I actually went to heaven! The tavern burger was ridiculously tasty and served with perfect hand-cut fries. So I did have a mixed experience but I'll get to why. Restaurant has plentiful outside and inside seating. Very kid friendly. And mildly chaotic. We had the brunch menu which did not have a ton of options but the arugula salad was alright. Way too expensive imo (w/ chicken 28$) but balanced and hearty while being healthy. My partner got the chicken sandwich. Wickedly good. best item we had and I would recommend this item for anyone unsure but want to try this restaurant. For kids we got grilled cheese (kids ate but was pretty medium) and fries. Other kiddos had chicken nuggets (looked terrible but we're really good quality) There is an open outdoor space with toys geared towards 5 and under kiddos which was wonderful if you have that need. Couple of challenges 1 - we went to the bathroom and came back to someone starting to clean up our table (whoops) 2 - they don't have sweet potato fries (missed opportunity) 3 - took forever to get our menus to order with (very difficult with 3 kiddos to add wait time at the front) Overall good experience, leaning a little high due to our specific needs probably a traditional 4 star.
