It's also quite pricey but worth it if you have extra money to spend. Ok so food - I get the smash burger and i usually ask for it on a brioche bun, but it tastes surprisingly delicious on the toast as well. Fries are quite good and I'm pretty picky about fries too - I usually like thin and "twice-fried" crispy - and man oh man the drinks! Very yummy. I'd also highly recommend the beignets, which comes with a strawberry compote that hits perfectly. Both were great, came with a slice of pickle and obviously split an order of fries. Decor is really fun and definitely gives Diner but not your Classic 50s Diner. THANK YOU Annabelle, you made our week For context, I went here to watch *THE* Knicks game sat 6/13 with my friend--we stumbled upon this bar as we were scrambling to find somewhere to go since we didn't have a reservation. The place was entirely booked out but not fully seated yet, so Annabelle let us stand inside and wait for a table to hopefully open up and watch the game on the TV in the meantime. When she saw we'd been standing for a while, she let us sit at the last table for 2 that wasn't yet seated (but was reserved) while we waited, and then informed us 10 min later that she'd worked her magic to make it possible for us to actually sit there and enjoy the game the whole rest of the night. She was running back and forth all night long helping as many people enjoy this historic night as possible, pushing through the chaos with a positive attitude and a friendliness that stood out from the rest of the team. I had zero expectations, but the drinks I ordered were perfectly balanced and well mixed, the fries were delicious and the bread pudding was so moist and satisfying without being too sweet! I came here with some friends on our trip to NYC not too long ago -- and we fell in love with this place! The funky, modern decor is so, so beautiful and comforting, and the food was delicious. I got the french toast (recommended by Sam, the owner) and shared the beignets with my group, both were incredible. Additionally, the staff here is so friendly and attentive, it felt like a warm hug as soon as we walked in. I highly, highly recommend Fat Rabbit for the food and the atmosphere, as well as for Sam and his wonderful team! A friend and I came here last night for dinner and we loved everything about it! First of all, it's cute and cozy -- sort of a retro diner vibe, but classy. Our server was friendly, funny, and attentive. And most importantly, the food was great! I had the fried chicken sandwich, which was perfect -- crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside, not greasy at all. I ordered fries to go with it (they're not included) and they were also perfect. My wife enjoyed her omelette, but I made the mistake of ordering the chicken salad club sandwich. Reasonable minds may differ, but I like some chicken and celery to accompany the mayonnaise in my chicken salad. The menu boasts "house made kewpie", so perhaps they don't feel the need to follow the usual, time-honored proportions of chicken, celery and mayonnaise in chicken salad. Despite the inordinate amount of "kewpie" in the purported "chicken salad", they slathered even more of it on the texas toast. I tried to scrape that off and popped another statin (despite the dearth of bacon). IMO, a bad sandwich. Would I visit again? Maybe, but I would order something else. The service, BTW, was efficient, austere and humorless. However, the ginger-haired busboy was diligent, earnest and polite. read more

Fat Rabbit is a unique place that I enjoyed. After a busy morning, I stopped in with my 2 year old buddy for an early bite of lunch. We were seated right away and well looked after by our server. He's particular about his food, so he had 2 sides; some bacon and french fries. Both were very much to his liking. I had a grilled cheese sandwich which was tasty. Pricing was reasonable for this part of Brooklyn. To me, the unique part of Fat Rabbit is that had a nice bar area. I'm not sure if this a diner with a solid bar, or a bar wanting to be a diner. I was so happy with my meal from here the other day. I have been on a smash burger binger lately and this one was surprisingly delicious. I wasn't expecting much as the bread in pics looks a bit whimpy but it actually held up really well and I enjoyed the different texture in comparison to a regular bun. I also got some mozzarella sticks that hit that spot OH and I can't forget my yummy espresso martini. I LOVED the aesthetic and vibe in here. Had a good, happy energy and I loved the old/new vintage feel. Definitely a classic diner of this century. I also overheard one of the staff members talking about how they were going to start showing I love Lucy on the tv's and I absolutely must return for that! Delightful new diner-like establishment that is just a fantastic addiction to this cool littke strip of Dekalb between Ft. Greene & Clinton Hill Stopped in for a late dinner recently and my girlfriend and I shared a wonderful meal. Started off with a great appetizer in their Dirty Martini Deviled Eggs--I didn't think one could improve upon the deviled egg, but adding sliced martini olives certainly did the trick. For dinner I got the Caesar Salad, which featured a nice, lemony dressing, while my girlfriend got a tasty Fried Chicken sandwich, which came with an excellent side of crispy fries with some herbs on top. Dinner portions were a nice size (could have maybe gone for one more egg. I mean I could have gone for 10 more, but... you know.) Drinks were on point as well--I absolutely adored their Count the Headlights cocktail (mezcal, luxardo, lime juice). It was so good I asked for the exact proportions/recipe, which they generously shared. Beer and wine options were small but well chosen and reasonably priced--I think just $7 for a Bronx IPA. It was near closing, and we got to chat for a bit with our server, Kellie, and the owner, Jill, and they couldn't have been friendlier. I love a good diner and really appreciated this slightly elevated, hipper, Brooklyn take on one. Menu is interesting--featuring some very diner-y staples, including several egg sandwich options--though perhaps a bit small. Hope they add a few more menu options as the place develops. read more

Five stars for the food and because they are new. Stopped in for brunch. The pancakes were fluffy, not dry, and crisp edges, good even without syrup! The hash browns were very crispy but tender, like they were fried. No salt and pepper on the table, no butter for the toast, and I was never offered more coffee. But overall enjoyed it. My friend and I were recently exploring our old BK hood and decided to have a late lunch at Fat Rabbit. It took over the space that was previously occupied by Mega Bites. To say it's a major upgrade is an understatement, but I appreciate that while it offers an elevated diner experience, it's not pretentious in any way. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and we found the staff members to be friendly and attentive. The food was very well executed and delicious. We got the Caesar salad, chicken bites, and chicken club deluxe. The Caesar salad contained some different greens, including strips of radicchio, which was a nice change from standard romaine. It also came with a soft boiled egg, which was a nice touch. My friend really enjoyed the chicken bites, which came with three different dipping sauces. The chicken club was very flavorful and came on deliciously buttered toast. The fries were shoestring (which are my favorite form of fry), and were well seasoned and perfectly crispy. All in all, it was a great experience, and I definitely plan to stop in again when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

Ordered the chicken club - didn't come with sides and was maybe the least inspired sandwich I've had In nyc - dry over cooked thin slices of chicken, limpy bacon, barely any condiments on dry white bread. Managed to get down half for sustenance but couldn't even finish it. Maybe I just got the wrong order but based on this I can't recommend. I ate a few bites and then opted to wait to eat at home. My husband ate the sad fries. "Spicy" Meatballs and polenta, also flavorless with clumps of uncooked polenta hidden in the bowl. Kind of reminded me of the disgusting cream of wheat my mom made for breakfast that I also never ate. My husband ate that out of hunger necessity, too. Bartender was nice enough but more interested in his buddies at the bar than anything else. Didn't blink an eye when I let the whole plate of steak go to the trash.
