I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was honestly shocking and needs to be shared. My sister is a nanny and was out with two young children when she urgently needed to use the restroom. She went into this café and politely asked. The waiter she first spoke to was kind and told her it was fine, even saying she could bring the kids with her. Then the host stepped in and everything went downhill. He began yelling at her, telling her she couldn't bring the children inside. When she explained she couldn't leave them alone, he actually told her to leave the babies outside on the street if she needed to use the restroom. That is not only absurd, it's dangerous and completely unacceptable. My sister stayed calm the entire time while being spoken to like that, but she left and called me crying because of how she was treated. I decided to call myself to understand what happened and to let them know about the behavior. The first employee I spoke to was kind and transferred me to the manager but the manager's behavior was just as bad, if not worse. He immediately started yelling over me, repeating over and over that he "didn't know what I was talking about," without even attempting to listen. There was no professionalism, no accountability, nothing. When I told him I would leave a review, he hung up on me. The way both the host and the manager handled this situation is completely unacceptable. This isn't just about customer service it's about basic human decency and safety. No one should ever be told to leave children unattended on the street, and no one should be yelled at for simply asking for help. Management here seriously needs to be reevaluated. I would not recommend supporting a place that treats people this way. read more

I haven't had a sit down meal this good in a while. Saraghina truly took the cake for favorite restaurant I've dined at in the past few months. Saturday we arrived and had to wait at the bar for a table for 4 for about 15 minutes. The bar area is really cute and intimate. My partner and I had yummy espresso martinis and my friend enjoyed a Negroni while we waited. Once seated, we decided on a carafe of the house red wine. We shared everything we ordered below. Fresh Baked Focaccia & Whipped Ricotta: One of my favorites. The ricotta was super savory and light and this was an easy shareable crowd pleaser. Crispy Brussel Sprouts: Seasoned and cooked well. My partner loved these. Shrimp Paccheri: This was one of the evening specials. We really liked the tender pieces of shrimp and I thought the wide noodles were fun and chewy just how I like them. Cacio e Pepe: We had to order this and weren't disappointed. Delicious and I would recommend! Carbonara Pizza: A bit of a wild card and not my favorite thing we tried but for carbonara lovers I think you'll love. The ingredients were quality and that reflected. I'm so glad we made room for dessert because this was a highlight for me. Tiramisu: Came in a cute cup so you could see the layers within. Not too sweet but just creamy enough. Milk Ricotta Cheesecake: This was an underdog for me. The cheesecake was delicate yet rich but not overly heavy. The cherries and sauce on top were *chefs kiss* Gelato: I don't know how they make this but it tasted how the videos I've been watching about authentic Italian gelato say it should taste. Subtle but not a hint of artificial flavor or sweetness. Nutty and a muted green color. If I had a tub of this in my freezer...I wouldn't for long. Came for a late dinner for 2, wait was less than 15 minutes. We had just enough time to grab an amazing espresso martini at the bar which easily transferred to our table. I love that they use real espresso in the drink. The whole place is so cozy, it's really perfect for a winter night. Everything came out quickly. I've passed this restaurant many times and finally made it in recently. I'd heard great things, but I still wasn't sure what to expect. It ended up exceeding every expectation. The space has a charming, rustic farmhouse vibe that makes it an ideal spot for a date. The drinks were excellent. They offer classics like martinis and negronis, along with Italian favorites like spritzes-- each given a unique twist. I tried the Aftermission, a martini made with gin, mezcal, and black sesame, and it was outstanding. The Paccheri alla Alberto -- beef bolognese -- was fantastic. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the ragu was rich, savory, and full of flavor. We also ordered the Coppa & Carciofi pizza, which had a great crust-to-cheese ratio. The vibes are very casual and it feels like a nice neighborhood spot. This area used to be my stomping grounds like 10 years ago when my bestie lives on the same block in our twenties! The ortolana pizza was an excellent medley of squash, pungent garlic, and mozzarella that mostly made up for the lack of chewiness and pull in the dough, which is what can really make these pies sing. As a long-time fanatic for Roman's mashed fava dip, I had to try Saraghina's rendition which unfortunately is served without that amazing She Wolf sourdough we all love, and one must make do with a fork. My friend and i stepped in here after a sudden craving for pizza! We walked in on a Tuesday around 7 and was immediately sat. The service was really nice and attentive without it being overbearing. The ambiance was very cute- low lighting and not super loud so i can see this being a place to catch up with friends or even a cure first date. The bartender was able to make me a Hugo spritz (which was really good) and my friend's rum cocktail was so delicious ! We would go back just for that drink (and the pizza of course). Bed-Stuy proved to me there is a fighting chance that it can have good pizza. I have eaten at a few pizzerias in this neighborhood and have always come up short or felt disappointed. This is a game changer. This pizzeria offers your breakfast offerings but the pizza is the main draw here. It is done in Neapolitan style, which means that they are setting the bar high. They set the bar even higher with their offerings in toppings, and their specialty pies, which if you know me by now, I got two. Go ahead, make my pies. The Breakfast pie was one I had to go with, along with their Margherita, which is a good baseline for trying any Neapolitan pizza. The first pie is an insane flavor concoction. The egg, the meats, all taste terrific. It is an out of bounds pie; once it cools it only makes everything taste better. The Margherita pie is what it is. Nothing flashy but nothing terrible. It can very easily be polished off by a hungry diner, but you will want to save some slices for later. I did this. The service is very good too. My server, James, was intelligent and provided great service. Most servers simply do the bare minimum and he went above and beyond in his work. Thank you James for a fun experience. Props to the hostess too. She was great as well. Knowledgable and inquisitive with a yearning to do better. I like that in a restaurant employee. While I usually love getting a table at most restaurants, I love bar seating at Saraghina because the bartenders are always personable and fun to chat with. If you want to solo dine but tend to feel reluctant to do so, this is a great place to break the ice. The ambiance is very intimate and cozy. The food always delivers. The server delivered the regular crust brunch pizza and I didn't really notice until after I ate a slice. I asked my server if he gave me a regular pizza and he said "oops, let me fix that". He came back so fast that I'm pretty sure that my gluten free pizza had been sitting in the window for a bit. Despite the mishap, the Spicy Brunch Pizza was good, I'm sure it would have tasted much better if it was fresh out of the oven. They have a pretty decent brunch menu. A fair amount of great options. The French fries were tasty, perfectly crispy and soft. I tried the Bloody Mary, I wasn't impressed, it was pretty bland. I wouldn't recommend this cocktail for brunch. One thing I liked was if you pick up anything from their bakery next door, they allow you to eat it in the restaurant. My niece is obsessed with their Margherita Focaccia, so she got to enjoy that for brunch. Brunch gets busy, so plan for a little wait. The uncovered tables outside tend to have a bee problem, so be sure to get a table either in the covered outdoor space or inside the restaurant. This has great potential for a good brunch spot, I'll have to come back and try other menu items. I started with a drip coffee, then my boyfriend and I shared the seasonal ortolana puzza (awesome), omelette of the day (it had mozzarella, spinach and caramelized onions and was decent), and the ricotta and tart cherry pancakes (these were the highlight). Deducting a star because our server was really bad, which put a damper on the experience, and because the food was solid but not amazing. We decided to eat outside, that's a bright side of pandemic life, the outdoor seating that some places have been allowed to keep. Their outdoor location is nice and warm, clean, and great for people watching. The service is always great! Attentive, but not overbearing. My favorite drink here is the Italian margarita, it's refreshing and tasty. I decided to switch it up and try the skirt steak and eggs, which were cooked just how I asked, and delicious. Stopped by here when the weather was beautiful and I sat in their outdoor seating. Very spacious and you don't feel crowded in the garden seating which I appreciated. My friend ordered the Misticanza Insalata which was mixed greens salad with vinaigrette. It was a bit heavy on the vinaigrette so I recommend letting them know how much you want before you get your salad. Ordered the regular Margherita and the Bufala (gluten free). They looked pretty similar. The pizzas are certainly filling and had good flavor. My friend and I shared the Prosciutto Cotto & Funghi Pizza and Winter Ortolana Pizza. Both of them were decent enough, but definitely nothing special. It almost felt like they could've used a bit more time in the oven? We went home with leftovers and preferred the Winter Ortalana more both in the restaurant and as a leftover.
