When I first moved to New York nine years ago, one of the first things I did was Google "most unique bars in NYC," and this spot popped up in a Time Out article. What's wild is if you go back to that same list now, most of those places are gone..but this one's still here, still doing its thing. And it's not just surviving off novelty either. It actually feels like Brooklyn. very Bushwick, very laid-back but still a little chaotic in the best way. It can get pretty packed, so don't expect a ton of space, but honestly that doesn't take away from the experience. It's always a good time, and the drinks never miss. If you're looking for a unique but low-pressure spot for a casual date or just somewhere to talk shit with a friend..this is a solid pick. They've got board games, but the real highlight for me? Unfortunately got harassed by a creepy older white guy here. Repeatedly said racist slurs to me & kept commenting on my friend's hair calling it "sexy." Tried to get him to back off, but when he kept going, I tried to get the white guy bartender there to do something about it - to at least ask the older guy to leave. The bartender not only didn't do anything but asked us to explain to him what the older guy was saying that was harassment. When we did explain, he still did nothing. Pretty sure he heard the dialogue as we were all sitting at the (small) bar. We left after that ofc. @ the white guy working the bar - grow some balls & stand for something. Came across Boobie Trap on our walk back from dinner, and were drawn in by the theme and decor. It was one of the best decisions we made all night! Everything you'd want from a dive bar, cheap (and strong) drinks (love the cocktails on tap), interesting decor and vibe, and plenty of games to keep you entertained (prob one of the largest selections I've encountered in a while). This is a typical dive bar. The ambiance as you can see is very interesting lol. Boobs were all over the place lol. It's a cool neighborhood bar that is a true no frills kinda place. What a cute spot! I'd recommend it for groups as well as a date. They have all these throwback board games and it just takes you back to a simpler time in life. The bathroom is spacious with a wall art of toilet paper and a ceiling of boobs. They don't serve food however you can go across the street to order food if you choose and they would deliver it to you. We didn't do that. We just walked to one of the many restaurants in the area ate and came back. They have a few drink specials in there. My niece and I each had a rum punch and a margarita. I feel like this bar isn't what it used to be. The decor has gotten older, patchier, and dustier. A little disappointing. It used to be rammed at all hours, it's always dead when I stop in. Loads of bartenders kind of just hanging out. So, I guess the service is good but the drinks are a bit weak. I love that that they still give out lighters. Now THIS is a bad bar. I go to dives regularly and this was up there with the most cringeworthy joints I've ever stepped foot in. Decor is puke-inducing-bad, they had a bouncer on a Friday when they're completely dead (shocker!), over-poured cocktails (and not in the good way) and some of the worst bartenders I have ever experienced in my many years of experience with bars. The owners then, a month after trying to message me, print out and frame a photo of me to put on their wall as the "Shitty Yelper of the Month" (so so so batshit insane) with a tirade of bullshit conjecture. I ordered a root beer and it tasted a lot like cranberry juice and root beer but I would not dare say anything to the bartenders because I respect them too much. They HATE yelp but this place is cool! Bartender was into talking to us, they have a ton of games to play even a docking station with all kinds of plugs (they ask for a donation.) They also give out free lighters! Have water readily available to pour at your discretion and some tables are built in board games? Just to name a few... I love this place. I recently moved across the street basically and can't talk enough about how welcoming and chill everyone who works there is, even during a pandemic. I went as recently as last night, got a couple nutcracker style drinks to go and they threw in hand-warmers and ramen in case we wanted to sit and hang out. They even prepare the ramen for you and are super nice about it! Ended up talking for 10 minutes about the best grocery shops in the area with the cashier. Of the few nutcrackers I've had here, I really like the Electric Raspberry and the Hurricane the most but looking forward to trying more. Can't wait until the day I can actually go in and sit at the bar, but for now, more than happy to take away, or sit and play gin rummy at the socially distant tables. read more

I've never had a bad time there, even when I'm having a bad time outside of there. I came on a Saturday night and was pleasantly surprised that this place wasn't so busy although I quickly realized it was because it was early for a Saturday night because it kept filling up as the night went on. My friend and I were playing Guess Who when the adorable waitress (in a super cute cheerleading uniform) came up to us and asked what version we play. We only knew the regular way so she suggested we play a different hilarious version. The game became extremely hard. Not because the bar is bad; but, because you will have your picture on a wall and be labeled "shitty yelper of the month". What do they say? "There is no such thing as bad publicity." We dropped by this place on an Sunday night and the bar was pretty bumpin. The crowd seemed to be mostly 20 year old types, who just recently rode the "cool" wave into the interface of Brooklyn and Queens. The bar has a gritty, divey feel that reminds you of NYC from yesteryear (although I do not think that you will be shanked . . . unless you ask for it). At Boobie Trap, you have a chance to wet your palette with a variety of tallboy and shot combinations for around 6 bucks, which is a great way to begin or end a night. Also, if you are the artistic type (which I am NOT) you can revisit your inner child by coloring various pictures. Plus, the bar houses a multitude of board games, so you will not be bored while drinking your tallboy and shooting your shot. If I am bar hopping in the area, I more than likely will revisit Boobie Trap. read more

First, I never write reviews. Obviously. As a hospitality vet, I expect good service and won't give a pat on the back when "good service" is (or should be) the standard. That said, this is NOT a good review. The nerve of this place, having the word "Boobie" in it when boobies are great yet this place is so NOT. In we walk and the runt behind the bar (Piper) didn't so much as look up, because obviously his greasy, dumpster-diving looking friends were more important. We wanted a cold drink so we shrugged it off and sit outside. After our first round, my girlfriend goes inside to order us a second. When she finally comes back out, she's very upset and tells me Piper completely ignored her while she sat right in front of his smush of a face awaiting service. During her unusually long wait, another patron came out of the restroom and was IMMEDIATELY tended to while my girlfriend sat there and watched. Unfortunately, this is nothing other than BLATANT RACISM as my girlfriend is black and the patron (another woman) was white. Outside, the other patron agreed with us and was apologetic even though the leprachaun behind the bar was to blame. Disgusting. The only good thing about this place is the strength of the (pre-made) drinks. Besides the boob decor and mural outside, there isn't anything cool or interesting about this place. There's a complete lack of good: vibes, music, ventilation and service. Maybe that's why most customers came and left pretty quickly. I always love coming here. At first it was the novelty of a boobie-themed, adult coloring book bar with a bathroom featuring a doorbell and puke hair ties, but I've consistently had good times here. Pretty hilarious that they will give you a bottle of liquor if you let them cut off your man bun too! The staff has always treated me well here (probably because I didn't act like an asshole), but I think it's great that they stick it to unreasonable Yelpers. I like the sass. I like the surliness. Love this bar! It's super kitschy and fun. Some people don't seem to get the vibe and are offended by the loud decor and brazen atmosphere. To that I say...go somewhere else, dweeb! The staff is great. My favorite is Holden, who is extremely entertaining and makes a mean Long Island. She's quick with a joke and really takes good care of her customers. Lots of regulars make Boobie Trap a fun place to meet some cool characters, and the Bingo nights are the TITS!!! The negative reviews here are laughable. Some people really lose their minds if they aren't treated like a guest at the ritz. It's a brooklyn dive bar. Online said they closed at 8:00PM because we are still technically in the middle of a pandemic but the guy working who was really cool by the way said it was 11:00PM so as of now I'm guessing that is the updated closing time. They had $10 nutcrackers I got a bloody mary it was pretty strong so i was satisfied. There was a bar fight when I got there but it's located in Brooklyn so just expect stuff like that. A girl working kinda gave my boyfriend a hard time for having a temporary ID, it still stated his birthday and everything but I guess since it was on paper she said she couldn't accept it. Oh well!
