I believe happy hour is a dollar off pretty much everything on the menu until 9pm. Which isn't a bad deal. You can get away with a $3 Miller High Life or Rolling Rock. Or you can go fancy and get a $6 pint on tap or real fancy with like a $10 cocktail or wine. Maybe their wells are around $4-5 as well but don't quote me on that. It's a very chill spot. Relaxing is a good word to go for it. I've been here a few times. Recently stepped in to kill time before the last yelp event I went to next door because it was frigid outside and I wasn't about to stand out in the cold. Bartenders have always been really nice. A very chill, inexpensive bar in Bushwick, the entrance is so unnoticeable you might miss it, but they got a cute interior and a nice little backyard. My friend bartend's here sometimes, he makes smashing cocktails which are a must try. They say things get cheaper the further you get from the city. "They" are right. But it's not just the RENT, people. Drinks too! Take Post No Bills, for example. True, you can't put up your band's flyer on the wall. Sorry! But you CAN get a fancy cocktail for $8. Eight dollars! So they're about half the price as fancy Manhattan bars. But HERE'S THE CLINCHER--they're also TWICE THE SIZE. These are SUPERSIZED dranks people. Not like those mini cocktails you find at some Manhattan bars that leave you sober and wanting more. No, these cocktails will get you DRUNK. Which is a good thing when the bartenders are as nice as they are here, and the music is as rocking as you could hope for. I would say this is a good spot for a first date. IF, that is, your date happens to live within one or two L stops of this block. Otherwise, you'll raise an eyebrow by picking such a faraway locale. On the other hand, if things go swimmingly and the date ends up crashing at your Montrose pad, you can get DONUTS the next morning at Dun Well. Which would be a VERY GOOD decision. read more

I think there are at least 4 bars in this immediate area and Post No Bills hits a sweet spot between em'. The bartender last night (Sunday) was nice and explained some of the process happening behind the scenes. There isn't a happy hour - yet, and they are aware of the golden beer+shot combo that so many in the area use as a yardstick for local hang. While their current beer and well offerings are nice, they also expect to try pushing some simple cocktails; bear in mind, that doesn't mean some highfalutin mixologist club. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing how it grows into its own while keeping in line with the crew that always enjoy the neighboring Boulevard cafe. EDIT: I don't mean to change my opinion in the least BUT, I want to advise others .. DO. NOT. COME. on TUESDAYS & SUNDAYS. Those are the days when the best bartender GREG is on duty. He is too good at making you feel welcome, bridging groups, and getting you the drink you want. I live about 3 blocks away from this place. Post No Bills is starting to become a regular go-to place now. I usually end up here after going to other bars in the area. (Tradesman and duckduck). I like how this place has really cheap drinks along with a chill mood. It's not loud and you can actually hear what your talking about. I always think it's good to end a night of drinking at a quiet place. They have good deals on beers and drinks. You can't beat the $6 Beer & shot combo which goes on all night. I want to like it...I do...I've been a few times b/c it's literally around the corner from my friends apartment and what's better then a cool neighborhood bar AROUND THE CORNER?!?! Well, a bar that is fully stocked would be better...only visited this spot 2 or 3 times and each time they were out of typical bar type things. Hello, limes?! On my last visit they seemed to be better off (at least they had everything my drink required). The food they serve is small but solid bar bites. This place is my local. And for good reason. When it's at its best, it's an unpretentious conversation bar. You wander down to meet a regular cast of characters (and characters they are) and bullshit around and drink cheap drinks and don't feel alone. That's not to say that new folks aren't welcome; it's the opposite. You walk into a place that doesn't feel atomized or inward bent. People want to talk to you. The music is pretty mellow and really changes with the personality of the bartender. 80's sad pop, Joy Division, et. al; T. Rex; 60's doo-wop; occasionally some Aaliya or TLC or something vaguely nostalgic but always fun to listen to. Sometimes people bring in CDs. The only problem is the space itself--it's wonderful and has a lot of opportunities for growth. But, it's often too dark. The wooden booths lack comfort. It just feels like the space hasn't grown into the personality that's already there. read more

There are a few simple cocktails and plenty of beer. The music leans on the metal side, and there is plenty of space to sit and chat, even on weekends. That's all you really need. read more

The newest of bars to pop up near the Montrose stop. I probably walked passed it a bunch of times and missed it. Nice atmosphere and soft lighting. Friendly bartender and reasonably priced drinks. This might be my new favorite mid-week spot. If they could just get the back patio open and a frosty margarita machine this place would be perfect. read more

Easily my favorite bar in the Montrose area. Solid, affordable cocktails. Clean, straightforward environment. The bartenders are sweet and usually play your cute run of the mill indie pop. Never too loud or too awkwardly quiet. Tons of seating and a nice backyard. Nice crowd, a healthy mix of unpretentious locals and kids from the band practice spaces up the street. All of the bartenders are friendly and the happy hour specials are cheap! it's also a good bar to meet new friends the music is always good and different but quiet enough that you can have a conversation. Great specialty cocktails as well- try the cucumber jalapeño margarita. they also have a SPICY pickleback which is a tasty twist on a Brooklyn Classic. the atmosphere is laid back and comfortable.. not trying to hard like some other bars in Williamsburg. this place is also my local go to bar! i've made a lot of friends here with both staff and customers, and i always end up having a good time talking to new people. it's one of the only bars on the quieter more conversation oriented bars in the neighborhood, so you don't feel like you have to scream to talk to your friends. always good music playing, not too expensive, and i can't wait till they open the backyard! it really compliments its sister cafe, boulevard. i always bring my friends here when they visit as well. i also really enjoy their new bar food menu too- which is actually good, not just crappy fried food. i think i've tried everything but the hot dogs. - they have a TV but it's generally reserved for silenced funny background TV stuff that anna plays, like old kung fu movies (i'm all about it, anna!) or sunday sports. read more
