Atmosphere was inviting and by no means rushed, even though we came in close to closing time. Food arrived piping hot and delicious - we couldn't decide whose was better. Portions were large, especially for the orecchiette, some of which we took home. Both dishes had ample meat portions and didn't skimp. This is a cute Italian restaurant. Initially we sat outside in the back garden. It was cozy and they made good use of the lay out but the exhaust from their kitchen funneled into the space so the air was awful and smoky. We had to ask to switch to a table inside. To start, we shared the grilled beet salad. Generally, I am a big fan of a beet and goat cheese pairing. The salad was tasty, but the goat cheese was chunky rather than creamy because it was warmed up by the grilled beets. It made the cheese a little less rich. Still, I enjoyed the salad, especially with the crunchy walnuts. For my main, I got the carbonara. It was delicious. The egg was perfectly prepared on top and added creamy goodness to the flavorful pasta. The blood orange margarita was juicy and tart but the portion sizes for the drinks were a little bit small. This is an unassuming restaurant serving Italian cuisine, not too far from where I live. My friends and I opted for outdoor dining on a lovely summer evening. I ordered the Carbonara pasta dish, which consisted of a ton of amazing tasting cubes pancetta, some greens, pepper, along with plenty of fresh grated Pecorino cheese and a raw egg yolk on top. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly al dente. The accompanying sauce was superbly rich and creamy, but the star of the meal was none other than the PANCETTA. This was truly high quality cut of meat, which was crispy, well seasoned, unctuous, and full of bold flavor with strong porky taste. It was a bit on the salty side, but in the best way possible. So delicious that it was better than bacon, and that's saying a lot. Also, normally I prefer cooked egg yolk, but in this particular case, the runny egg yolk added to the overall yumminess of the entrée. This was the best pasta dinner I have had in awhile. Service was decent for the most part. Our waitress was friendly, but as the evening wore on, the service became a little less attentive which I believe was a result of it being close to closing time. It took awhile for us to get our bill. The pricing was more affordable than many of the more fancy Italian restaurants in the area. The ragu sauce was absolutely amazing, some of the best I tasted. My Sicilian godmother would have loved it! I had the gluten-free pasta with the ragu. Some of the noodles were a little undercooked. My dinner mate had the same with regular noodles and said it was delicious. The same went for my other dinner mate who had the gnocchi. The servings were generous. The service was good. We had made reservations, although the hostess seemed confused. We did get seated quickly. Our food came out in a reasonable time. The staff was very friendly. We were staying about a 20-minute walk from the restaurant, and it was worth the walk. The dining room was tiny and a bit crowded but not unbearable. Once I tasted the sauce, everything with the world was alright. The area was brimming with activity from the Juneteenth celebration, which added to the excitement of the surrounding area. I wanted to give this place more stars, however, there were a handful of hiccups during the duration of my dinner experience there. For starters, my date and I got to the entrance, and the petite, dark haired middle aged white hostess lady was hurriedly exiting with take out orders in hand. After almost trying to rush past me, she pauses, looks up and says "Hi?" So I say "Kenya...8pm for 2 people." She says, "okay you can either sit here between these two tables or outside." I spotted an empty round table in the rear of the restaurant with a few chairs and asked her if we could sit there instead for more privacy. In frustration, she repeated "No. You can either sit between these two tables, at the bar, or outside." When I finally said outside, she said great and quickly walked away from me to give the delivery guys the takeout orders. I am not a difficult person. If anything, I'm super understanding. However, as someone who is going to be dining at the restaurant (and her being a hostess) it would have been much appreciated if she would have given us a brief explanation of why we couldn't have sat at the table in the back. We are paying diners. An outright no is for disobedient children. We are grown adults. A quick "it's a reserved table for a party who hasn't arrived as yet" or "I wish I could but it's unavailable at the moment" would have been just fine. As the night progressed and I was sitting outside enjoying the night, I began to notice that this same woman would become very hostile and nasty with the delivery guys who were coming into the restaurant to pick up the food. She'd yell at them and say "you can't be in here!" or "you have to move from here. You can't stand inside!" At this point, she was giving MAJOR 'Karen' vibes because most of these men were of Hispanic, African and Asian descent and a few were not English speaking. When they would not move right away, she'd practically shoo them away from the door while they'd be trying to show her their cell phones with the order they were picking up. It was a sad sight to see! I wish I'd gotten her name so y'all could know exactly who to stay away from (if at all possible). The mean hostess is the woman in the striped t-shirt, hair pulled back, pointing her finger in the photo I took of the exterior of the restaurant. But let me get into the real reason why we read these reviews in the first place: food and drinks. I had the Dolce Vita drink which was a bloody orange, gin, a little seltzer and Campari. It was delicious! I loved it. I had two! That good! My date had two different beers. He said they were both okay. I don't remember the names of 'em. For the appetizer, we had the grilled calamari. It smelled better than it tasted. It didn't taste that flavorful. Wish it would have been cooked in the seasoning for longer. I had the Limon spaghetti which has Parmesan, lemon and oil. It was good. Nothing to write home about. My date has the Ragu pasta with meatballs and mozzarella. When we first tried his dish, the pasta was hard and super undercooked. He had to send it back to be cooked thoroughly. For dessert, we had the olive oil cake. That was the highlight of the night for me. All in all, it was a lackluster experience. I wouldn't recommend. I had dinner with a friend here last night and feel very torn about this review! Pros: - Lovely service! From the host who sat us to the two waitstaff folk who took our order, brought over drinks, they were wonderful. Attentive, but not overbearing and just genuinely kind and fun people. - Great atmosphere! We sat outside in the front patio area. Really lovely, perfect day. Spacious enough between other parties. - The sauces! The carbonara and the diavolo sauce on the black linguine were both really lovely. The diavolo was a stand out and so spicy yummy. - Dessert! I loved the olive oil cake with fresh fruit, and the espresso ice cream was the perfect cold bite on an early summer day. Cons: - The pasta was severely over cooked :( It was sticking together and pretty gummy. - The squid in the black linguine was also super over cooked and just hard to chew. That being said, because the sauces were so good, I'm hopeful that this was just a one time issue? I would definitely come back for drinks and dessert at least. I'd been trying to figure out the next great Italian place to try but based off friends recommendations (and distance I was willing to walk to lol), I decided on Dino. The other option was Evelina's but seeing how crowded it was, I'm glad I chose Dino. Our server was very polite and prompt! We had the Riccia, Spaghetti Carbonara, and the Burrata which is part of their special. The Spaghetti Carbonara was on the lighter side which I didn't mind at all. The Riccia could probably use a liiiiiittle less salt for my liking, but it didn't stop me from enjoying every bite. The Burrata was perfect! The bartender was loud (in a good way!) and welcoming! It seems like everyone that came in are regulars being treated like family so that's always a good sign. It's only 5 minutes away from the place always stay at in Fort Greene so I will def make a mental note to come back! read more

Stable spot in the neighborhood with good prices and food. Also a nice selection of drinks like wine cocktails and after dinner drinks. The vibe of this place is like rustic Italian there is back yard seating as well as outdoor seating in the front but I prefer the indoor seating. They have a specials menu that they change up pretty often. I did however go for the classic Ragu which had meatballs and sausage. It was really good. What a cute delicious spot! Great food with a staff willing to go out of there way to please. It was my group of family again so the food was plentiful ( and the laughs were many). We started with shared app's. Grilled artichoke, Black kale panzanella, our standard of Burrata , saffron arancini and cauliflower. All of them were spot on delicious. I'll only rate my entree which was the rigatoni ragu. Dam it was good and I'd probably order it again. Everyone was extremely happy with there food. So I'd say have at it with the menu. My only negative was is- if your featuring a wine you should have it. There were a few other liquor negatives I noticed when I was there too.
