What do two black men and a Jew have in common? Well, nothing really, except that they serenaded me and kept me good company while I enjoyed some solid pizza in Park Slope on a beautiful Saturday evening. Okay, it was Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye, and Jim Croce. But you get the idea. The pizza is not going to blow you away, but the fact I got incredible service and a sharp looking pie at a relatively decent price left me walking away satisfied. I had been trying to get here for months but due to externalities like broken pizza ovens and unexpected closures kept me walking away, hoping one day, I was going to enjoy some pizza here. That day has finally come. I highly recommend getting a red and a white pie to balance things out. This visit I only got a red pie as it was just me, but I really wanted a white pie as well until my server talked me out of it and convinced me to wait until I tried the red pie first. He was right. After I finished the red pie, I did not want the white pie. Except I told him I would come back and get a white pie next time. Next time for sure, as this pizza and service are worth the 30 minute on the F train here. By the way, they are down the street from Little Purity, a cozy diner that I have been to, reviewed, and HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Back to this one, this is a pizzeria I recommend too. Overall pizza rating: 3.8/5

The restaurant was full of patrons our arrival so they were hustling and bustling on a rainy Saturday evening. The place is dimly lit, which gives a great date night vibe. The waitstaff ... can be a bit arrogant and pushy. This didn't deter us from enjoying our food. Drinks- we had a bottle of white wine to start off then ended with a few cocktails. The cocktails could be a bit stiffer but that's my preference only. Food - we ordered 5 dishes to share among 4 people, not really expecting a small portion size of each dish. We all left with half empty stomach. Most of the dishes lacked flavor, seasoning, something... the calamari could've been drenched of its oil a bit more. It came to us soggy, instead of crispy. The lobster ravioli didn't have lobster nor taste cheesy enough. While the pizza was freshly baked from the oven and piping hot, it was still missing a little seasoning. Grilled octopus was really charred and that's the taste that left my pallet.

We got takeout from here and it was a bit disappointing. We tried the Montanara pizza, trofie al pesto, and cesarina salad. The pizza was yummy and I liked the sausage/mushroom combo but it was soggy on the bottom and didn't hold together. The pasta was tasty but really lacking an extra something to bring the pesto to life--the picture had a dollop of ricotta or some sort of creamy sauce but none was to be found. It needed pine nuts or pancetta or something. But I did really like the potatoes being in there, it was an interesting choice. The green beans didn't work as well. The caesar salad didn't have enough dressing and some of the lettuce had seen better days. We also got a whole baguette, and it was incredible ! So flaky on the outside and cushy on the inside. If you're going to go here, I'd suggest going in-person because the food did not hold up well for delivery.

Family run, true Italian feel type of restaurant. Great service. We ordered Margherita pizza. I love my pizza a little burned and it was perfect. Love the panna cotta

The food was delectable, it pleased all of the senses. We had the pizza piccante, ravioli piselli e porcini, and a Café latte. Service was warm and receptive, and the wait time is reasonable for a Sunday at 12:30pm. Sitting out back, under the pergola, in a comfortable fall 70 degree day rounded out a wonderful experience.

Great service food and ambiance. Some padded booths along the walls. Interesting menu choices. Rabbit ragu was a little funky. Deserts were a nice finish.eggplant bruschetta was very tasty. Yes they do have happy hour deals

Calzone sausage and broccoli rabe - ???
    Marie S.

Disappointing "pizza thingy" tonight I tried the "Calzone sausage and broccoli rabe"from the Le Pizze Rosse 12" size menu section on GrubHub. "A photo is worth a thousand words" what is this travesty ??? It's not a pizza. It's not a calzone. When I first saw it, I thought it was a mistake. I'm looking at it and thinking "is this a pizza?" No, it's folded over. With wilted salad on the side - as if to offer some sort of apology. It's too thin to be a calzone. Looks like a half pizza. Is it a "pizzone" ? If only if were delicious. So bland. Cool concept, poorly executed. What a shame.

We came here after a World Cup match between England and Norway. Of course, England won, and we were festive. We were slightly late to our reservation without any problem. We were promptly seated, and to our surprise, the restaurant was actually bigger than how it looks from outside. We started with fried calamari and shrimp with marinara sauce and a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. For the main entree, I selected traditional lasagna verde with three meat Ragù and Bechamel, while my partner chose homemade fettuccine al Ragù with pork and beef. We had a wonderful dinner here. The food was all delicious and came in timely fashion. We will definitely come back here to try the other dishes on their menu.

Starters: Fried calamari and shrimp- this was a good start although missing a little flavor to the batter but it was good nonetheless. Whipped burrata-this was delicious but it could have been even better with some more of the delicious house bread that we were offered upon arrival. Drinks: Balsamic peach spritz (not pictured) the graduate's favorite drink of the day! She raved about it the entire time. Aperol spritz- very refreshing with a beautiful citrus twist! I loved it. Old fashioned- my boyfriend throughly enjoyed this classic drink. Entrees: Oven roasted branzino- AMAZING! The cook on the branzino was perfect and the broccolini and mini carrots added a beautiful crunch to my experience. I could have taken another order to go. My boyfriend had the house ravioli which was salmon and after taking one bite, I can attest that it was INCREDIBLY delicious! Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals: Ribeye steak Lamb chops with spinach mashed potatoes Lamb chops with roasted potatoes Roasted Chicken Rustichella We ended the celebration with dessert: Olive oil cake- not too sweet and fluffy. Tiramisu- sinfully good! Overall, we had an incredible dining experience and would highly recommend it.

The room is small and romantic, homemade pasta hangs in the front window, and the whole evening felt less like dining out and more like being invited into someone's family table in Florence. We started with the fritto misto, a well executed mix of fried fish and vegetables, alongside an insalata caprese that let fresh tomatoes, burrata and basil speak for themselves. From there we went family style, which is really the only way to do it here. The bucatini cacio e pepe was as much performance as dish, mixed tableside directly in the cheese wheel. The fusilloni di Gragnano from Puglia paired scampi with burrata, cherry tomatoes and arugula for a bright, briny plate, while the tagliatelle verdi brought a rich wild boar ragu finished with fresh black truffle. The two standouts, though, were the agnolotti ossobuco with veal sauce and pecorino fondue rounded out with thyme and lemon, and the lasagna Bolognese. That lasagna, layered with meat ragu, tomato and bechamel, may be the best I have ever had. We paired the meal with a bottle of Salvioni 2022 Rosso di Montalcino, aromatic and beautifully matched to the food. The space is cozy and intimate rather than sprawling, so a reservation is a smart call. Everything else, from the food to the atmosphere to the sense that someone's nonna was cooking just for us, made this one of the most memorable meals in NYC. We would return without hesitation.

I can't say enough great things about the decor the ambience and imagining all of the past goings on in this restaurant. It's been watching over Brooklyn for well over 100 years now! And that's why the kitchen which is at the very back of the restaurant has full glass windows so that you can see exactly what's going on in there. I guess some of these mob guys were paranoid and rightly so consider considering their history. I arrived with my friend on a Wednesday evening about 6 PM and there were some scattered tables but by 7 PM it was mobbed (pun intended ) in there!! our waiter was affable and patient and a quite enjoyable fellow.
