I've only been once and Aromi has already made it into the top three Italian spots for me in this area. Loves: + Food is delicious! My fave was the spaghetti ($21) which shocked me but it was perfect with pasta made in house. Another standout was the paccheri pasta special. + The complimentary bread is or tastes like their pizza bread, and it's good. + Prices are reasonable + Staff is friendly, especially owner Alessandro! I loved everything about Aromi when I first visited and I still do. I wish I lived closer as I'd visit more often. This charming, rustic authentic Italian restaurant never disappoints. Staff is extremely friendly and Restaurant Week was a perfect time to revisit. For $45 you can commit to the RW menu or order off the menu however all parties must do the same. The ambience was adorable and the space filled up as time went by. . We shared Fried Calamari and the Arugula Salad for starters. This was the ying yang of appetizers as it was extremely delicious and complemented one another. The Calamari was perfectly crisp with side dipping sauces--Marinara and Squid Ink. Unlike anything I've tasted. So very delicious. The salad was refreshing and simple--Arugula, Pear, Gorgonzola and Walnuts . Very good. Great sharing portion as was the Calamari. We both selected the Branzino for main. Carefully wrapped in a foil paper with clams, mussels, olives and grape tomatoes in a light broth, it was so delicious and well executed. The fish was deboned, fresh and firm. Very good. We shared 2 desserts for final course: Tiramisu and Panna Cotta. No need to describe this but it was traditional and excellent. A delicious Rose complimented the meal and Limoncello shots were brought to our table on the house as we wrapped things up. Overall, we enjoyed this delicate, delicious and decadent meal at Aromi. Shout out to Sarah who offered her most gracious hospitality and Andrea. We had a brief chit chat with him about all things Italian toward the end of our meal. Phenomenal pizza. I tried the one with the same name as the restaurant. The toppings were quite simple with just some zucchini, and halved cherry tomatoes took the place of the sauce. The crust is the real star of the show. The flavor was moderately developed, with a deeply comforting wheatey flavor. The texture was supreme - crispy and fluffy, without the doughiness you can sometimes get from a Neapolitan dough. Totally worth the $25 after taxes. read more

5 stars is for the pizza, and the pizza only! Sadly I wouldn't recommend there other dishes, at least not for delivery bc they were not good. Maybe the pastas are better if you go in person but the meatballs are straight nasty and the salads are pretty plain. But back to the good stuff. The pizza here is the closest I've had to those in Italy. The dough is crusty, chewy, and sooooo flavorful and perfectly soggy crispy - ifykyk. The toppings deliver well even through delivery and I just can't get enough of their pizza!! Aromi is the best pizza I've had in the city and that's saying a lot! Top notch food and drinks! Did a restaurant week dinner here and we were the first to arrive upon opening. The ambiance of this place is giving cozy winter getaway. They have the wood burning oven and well stocked bar in the background. I had the Rosemary fizz and it was herbacious and fizzy from the Prosecco. The focaccia bread was made fresh and served warm and fluffy but topping it with the ricotta took it up another notch. The chicken was cooked and fried to perfection and all the ingredients in the food all tasted fresh and flavorful. The pannacotta was soft and pillowy with fresh berries and compost on top. We already went twice to Aromi, the last time was yesterday in occasion of our Anniversary. Alessandro is a very nice man, and so is the whole staff! The ambience is great, the service is great, but what is really outstanding is the quality of the food we tried. First of all the pizza dough is absolutely the best we tasted in NYC, and as a native Italian I am VERY picky! The dough is light, elastic, tasty, soft, absolutely as it SHOULD be in a real Neapolitan pizza. The sauce of the Margherita was perfect, and you could taste the mozzarella, contrary to what usually is only melting generic cheese. Also the PBR white pizza was delicious, with prosciutto, fresh burrata and arugula. The calamari fritti are fantastic, crunchy, tasty and not heavy at all. The timballo di melanzane (eggplants) also was VERY good, light and tasty. Tartare di tonno VERY good too. And to finish, the pannacotta dessert was perfect, rich but not over sweet as usually is in NY. My only regret yesterday was that they last night hey had one of my favorite dishes as special, the mozzarella in carrozza, but having ordered already the calamari, too much fried food would have been too much for my old stomach haha! Amazing, authentic Italian food. A local restaurant in Carrol Gardens, with so much Italian charm. The owners were amazing and helped us decide what to try. We started with the Bruschette Burratoa. A toasted bread with the creamiest, fresh burrata, topped with truffle and prosciutto . We also had the Margherita pizza. The crust was the thinnest I have ever had. All of the ingredients are so fresh ! The basil was so fresh it tasted as if it was picked from a garden ..in the middle of winter. Watching the pizzas being made was a treat ! Look out Lucali, look out Giuseppina's, look out Tutt' Appost, this is a great pizzeria made from native Italians and despite the high prices, they have a great, great product that will make you want to come back for more, even if it means having to wait until 5 pm to do so (if you come during the weekends, they open at noon). I tried three things, their grilled octopus, their meatball appetizer, and their Salamina Piccante pizza, which basically is their hot salami pizza. I also got some of their complementary bread, which basically is their ripped pizza crust, served with olive oil. The latter item is absolutely fantastic; incredibly light, I could eat this all day because it is so light. The olive oil is great too, and they have two types, a spicier and a regular, either one works. The grilled octopus is grilled perfectly. It could do without the red onion, but it is great otherwise. I have been to restaurants where it is overcooked, rubbery, and dry. This one does it right. A minute or two more on the grill and it would be all those things. The meatball appetizer is great too. Served with two pieces of bread, the meatballs are a great size, and you get three of them. This works well as an appetizer. It also sits in a pool of meat sauce, which I think you should keep after you finish eating the meatballs, as it makes for a fantastic dipping sauce for the bread. Lastly, the pizza is great. Everything is cooked beautifully, and their engineered crust works beautifully. The salami is ample on the pie, and the cheese and sauce marry well with it. You also get a nice sized pie, no shortchanging as I have seen too many Italian restaurants do. I would also like to point out how nice the owners are. Allessandro, one of the owners, was super nice and friendly. He was engaging and introduced himself when I first walked into the restaurant. I was also appreciative with how knowledgable he was with his product. I would recommend coming here and will likely return. read more

Went here a couple weeks ago for my birthday. It was highly recommended but I had never been. Immediately upon walking in the atmosphere was quaint and very cozy and cute. We were seated in the front of the restaurant which was lowly lit but I assume the back is just as cute. The service was also very good and friendly, however, I would pace your ordering or tell them to slow it down because our food came very quickly and we were in and out in about 45 min-1 hour. We ordered the orecchiette with broccolini and sausage as well as a margherita pizza (shared between 2 people), they also started us off with some break and hot chili oil. Everything was so so good especially the pasta. I really enjoyed this dinner and will definitely be going again, would highly recommend! read more

Dined here for restaurant week and it was an amazing experience. First off this cozy hidden gem is the perfect romantic date spot with its dim lighting and cute outdoor seating options. The servers are friendly and attentive and the aroma of fresh pasta and sauce filled the air. For appetizers we had the meatballs and tuna tartare. The meatballs were tender and the sauce was rich. The tartare was fresh and light. For entrees we got the spaghetti and Cacio e Pepe ravioli. I really enjoyed the Cacio e Pepe I've alway had it in a long noodle form such a fettuccini bucatini spaghetti but never a ravioli and it was the perfect amount of filling. For desserts the panna cotta was set perfectly and the consistency of both desserts should be praised. We also opted for a bottle of red that took the meal to another level and at an add on of $30 for the restaurant week deal it was a steal. Our servers were very friendly and we didn't wait long in between our meals. Only call out is that some bread for the table would have been a nice plus, but I left happy and full and will definitely be on the look out for this spot next time! read more

Great hole in the wall Italian spot in Carroll Gardens. We loved the atmosphere and the service was impeccable. We started off with two cocktails, and the espresso martini was divine. Then, we ordered a pizza which had one of the most delicate crusts I ever tasted, and was well flavored in it self. Additionally the red sauce on the meatballs was delicious (though the meatballs them self could have been more seasoned/fluffy). The pizza was a continuation of excellent bread sauce and cheese. They serve spicy oil on the side - yes please! The eggplant appetizer was unique and delicious, the fried chicken plate was well cooked too. The orchiette was good, but the sausage was lacking character. Service was excellent, even with our two kids being naughtier than usual. Many people checked in/helped with ordering. Aromi is another welcome restaurant addition in the neighborhood, they serve authentic and favorite Italian fare. We came here on a lovely Sunday afternoon, we were offered seats in the backyard or by the window in front of the restaurant, we chose the latter since there's also a jazz musician performing during our visit. This place offers a full bar with its own cocktails concoction. There's only 2 pages menu one for food, the other for drinks. We started with calamari fritti (my partner's favorite and we always order this whenever we can-as previously mentioned in my reviews) it was served with special squid ink mayo and salsa and polpette al sugo or meatballs. The dishes suited well with a bottle of Rosato. For the main entree, we decided to eat family-style. We shared carbonara pizza, Margherita, and carbonara pasta. All dishes are simply epicurean, it was served hot and freshly made. The dishes are all well portioned and we felt full that we didn't have space for dessert until the owner informed us that she already prepared us a complimentary dessert of pannacotta and crème brûlée, who could say no to that! Before we took off we were then offered a shot of limoncello, it was one of the best Sunday lunches to be had. With great food, and awesome customer service, this place is another neighborhood gem. read more

I'd rate Aromi four and a half stars. Authentic Neapolitan feel to the restaurant. Started with a glass of Primitivo which was a rich, juicy glass. Sweet with berry and light chocolatey flavors. Fine wine for late November / early December. We shared the Mista salad for the first course. It had mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, corn, shredded carrots, and a citrus vinaigrette. Light and refreshing. Brought me back to summer on a cold, windy night. For the main course, I had the tuna, capers, and onion pizza while my wife had the burrata, pesto, zucchini, and fried meatball pizza. I liked the creativity on the menu. Dough was soft and airy with a light char on the edge. It was a fork and knife pie. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu in a cup. I also had a glass of amaretto on the rocks. I liked the tiramisu. It was on the creamy end. Staff was nice and allowed us to hang around without rushing us at afterwards. Service was attentive though out the night.
