Came here for Christmas dinner on Thursday. I searched for a restaurant semi-close to me that had great reviews and was Italian. This was high up on my search, and with reviews like what they have, we decided to give them a shot. Its very easy to get to with a decent amount of street parking. Seems a bit out of place next to a deli on a residential block. You can kind of miss it if youre not paying attention. We were a party of 6 and had a 5 PM reservation. You have to pass through this dark curtain and go to the middle of the bar where the host will greet you and bring you to your seats. We were seated promptly with no wait. The restaurant is VERY small. So much so that at our table, all I had to do was reach my hand out and I would have been touching the kitchen counter. It does get a little crammed/crowded, but not in an annoying or unbearable kind of way. The vibe is actually really cozy and rustic. Very dim lighting so either whip out the flashlight on your phone or hold up one of the real candles they have on the table to read the menu. The food menu is straightforward and simple. They have an extensive wine list. I love how on the food menu, next to each dish, they tell you the region of Italy that dish gets its roots from. They have lovely dinnerware here. They brought out a foccacia bread for the table with a tomato dipping sauce. Absolutely delicious foccacia. The sauce was a tad too salty for me. I started off with the mocktail Luisa. It was passion fruit, lemon, agave, ginger beer, and mint. It was $10 and very fresh and mouthwatering! For my appetizer I had the Calamari alla griglia. Grilled calamari with guacamole and carasau bread. I've never had grilled calamari before. Only either marinara or fried. I also thought pairing it with guacamole was an interesting twist. I was so pleasantly surprised by this dish. The calamari were perfectly fork tender grilled. The guacamole went well with it. The carasau bread was more like a tortilla chip. They give you a decent amount for $24.95. That app slid down my throat effortlessly! For my entree I had the Maccheroncini alla Norma. Maccheroni with eggplant in tomato sauce with ricotta cheese. The pasta was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauce reminded me so much of my Calabrian grandmother's. The ricotta made it rich and creamy. Filling as well. So much so that, even though it wasn't a huge portion, I had to take home half of it because I was verging on being stuffed! My mother had the Cotoletta alla milanese. Keep in mind that if you get this chicken cutlet dish that it serves about four people, even though its for 1! HUGE portion. About 4 enormous cutlets that gave my mom 3 days of leftovers! All of the desserts were $12.95. A nice selection to choose from, but I had the classic Tiramisu. They make it here tableside. He made it with such care. Loved watching him put it all together. Let me tell you, that was the BEST Tiramisu that I've EVER had! Wow, just amazing. Very balanced, quality ingredients. The marscapone was so decadent, creamy and fresh. I could have easily taken down 2 of them! I tried some of my mother's chocolate cake. Delicious and decadent. Service throughout our dinner was above and beyond. Attentive, kind, concise and our waiter was such a cutie! Smooth sailing throughout the entire meal. We barely had to wait for anything. Amazing restaurant and staff. Charming Italian restaurant with a rustic vibe. Came here for dinner one night, and was lucky enough to be able to sit outside on this not too busy street. This place does get busy so recommend making reservations if you can. They have a pretty nice wine list to choose from along with different cocktail options. From the start, the food was delicious starting with the house bread which was warm and soft but still felt light. For dinner, I ordered the special for the night which was cacio pepe ravioli, while my husband got the tagliatelle verdi con ragu. Both of our pasta dishes felt extremely fresh. The ravioli was unlike anything Ive had before, with flavorful cacio pepe filling and a butter sauce with pancetta complementing the flavor. The tagliatelle was also delicious in a more ragu centric way, still offering a good balance of flavor. Both dishes were pretty filling and so neither of us could finish it. We ended the night with cannolis, which was a pleasant surprise to find 3 came in 1 order. One side is pistachio while the other had a coco dusting. These were again delicious but pretty filling and sweet so we could only eat one. The staff here was also very friendly and service was quick with food coming out much faster than I expected. This adorable little Italian joint is an excellent choice for a pre-Barclays Center meal. We rolled in for an early bite, and had no trouble sitting down at the bar. The bartender was quite friendly, and made me a Piccante (spicy tequila/lime/pineapple situation, with a tajin rim) that was solid. My wife wasn't too hungry, so we only ordered a couple items to share. The Insalata Marzamemi (quinoa, avocado, greens, seared tuna and more), and the ossobuco agnolotti. They brought us some complimentary rosemary bread and oil to dip it. I'm not one to look free bread in the mouth (I think that's the saying), but it was not my favorite bread service. Both the bread and the oil needed salt. But it was warm, and I appreciated the gesture. The salad and pasta were far better. Both were surprisingly large portions for the price (this is NYC in 2026), and paired quite well together. The salad was piled high with fresh ingredients, and there was a nice sear on the tuna. It was only a couple of dollars more than the Greek salad, and a steal. The ossobuco agnolotti with its pecorino fondue and veal sauce was rich, and quite filling. There were at least a 15 of the filled pasta pockets, and well worth the price. All in all, a solid stop for some good portions of Italian food at a good price. read more

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant! I found this place (walking distance from the place we were staying) and made a reservation in advance. We were visiting Brooklyn and just got off a long flight, desperately needed some food and some time to decompress. This was exactly what we needed! Such a great experience, the ambiance is dim but enough noise to bring your kids along for date night. Huge plus for us as a family of 5. The warm bread to start really helped settle the table, the dipping oil on the side was delish. My husband got the seafood pasta per our waitresses recommendation. It was creamy and delicious, very flavorful. I ordered the skirt steak, truffle mash and chimichurri, really great dish and I think the overall favorite of the night. My kids inhaled the steak rather quickly LOL We got the seafood and veggie fried platter situation and it was also great for the entire table. Kids loved the fried shrimps and calamari was cooked to perfection. I couldn't stop dipping my fried zucchini into the side of ricotta. Loved the fresh pasta being in our view while we enjoyed dinner. My daughters also loved the Caesar salad and the grilled chicken was the perfect addition. Did not know this Piccola existed and didn't think a Piccola restaurant could get any better but wow this one blew all the other ones out of the park! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side so make a reservation in advance if possible. Me and my three friends waited around 10-15 minutes on a Thursday night. My go-to's here are the meatball appetizers and the green tagliatelle ragu. The Cacio e Pepe and tiramisu were finished tableside and such a fun experience! My husband and I are beyond excited to discover a Brooklyn location of Piccola Cucina! We've been going to the Nevins location lately instead of traveling all the way to Manhattan. It's so much more convenient commute-wise. Their pasta never disappoints. It's perfectly cooked, not too al dente, and not too soft. The mashed potatoes that come with the steak were surprisingly good too! The only small thing I'd mention is that we asked for medium, but it came out medium rare but still tasty, just a bit chewy. The tiramisu is amazing! They make it fresh right in front of you! The waiter whisked the egg whites, mixed in the sugar, and combined everything to create the tiramisu on the spot. It was quite an experience to watch. The Greta cocktail is very sweet, which I love! I usually visit around early dinner or so, and the ambiance is cozy in the evening. The lighting is soft and charming, and the candlelight on each table just makes you feel so relaxed - it almost makes you forget it's still a work night. When I dine at great restaurants in Manhattan, of course, my question is " Can the magic be replicated in Brooklyn?" Of course opening one up in Bay Ridge* makes this Yelpie very very happpppyyyyyyy..Thus, when my Yelp friend Sharon texted me if I've eaten at Piccolo Cucina Casa in Brooklyn my response was: " They've opened one in Brooklyn????". Wow, somebody IS really listening to me!!!!! Wow, the power I have!!!" LolYes, it is located on a pretty block on Nevins Street. When we entered this beautiful rustic space my eyes, palate and yes, my heart were ecstatic. The space is much bigger than my fave Spring Street location. The beautiful bar is a great way to start your evening. Now, for the important part, the menu.. offering the same entrees as Spring Street? Yes! I already knew I was ordering the pasta Alla Norma, my go to dish. But wait.. this Artichoke salad aka Carciofi Romana is new to me?!I had to try it and Sharon was game. First, a delicious serving of Focaccia with rosemary was placed on our table with their "secret herb" dipping sauce. One bite and I was in Focaccia paradise: fresh, the rosemary was just delicious and the golden bread light as a feather. What Italian God baked this? Then the Artichoke salad, Carciofi Romano, stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes, avocados, arugula and Parmesan cheese; scrumptious and perfect to eat on a hot summer day. Then our main dishes, the Pasta Alla Norma, their vibrant Sicilian pasta dish with fried eggplant, rich tomato sauce and ricotta salata cheese and maccheroni pasta. Delizioso! Sharon ordered Lobatello di manzo: skirt steak served with truffle mashed potatoes and chimichurri sauce. She enjoyed it very much. Wow a mini tour of Italy with 3 dishes: Sicily, Puglia and Lazio! The service is phenomenal, attentive and friendly. I recognized one of the staff members from Spring Street who now works here ( I forgot her name, forgive me) but glad she is here! But I expected that, because I've now dined at all Piccolo Cucina locations and always received superior service. Piccolo Cucina Casa has an extensive wine list and delectable desserts. I cannot recommend this more! One of the best Italian places I've been to! Ambience: the vibe of this place is immaculate! They have chefs making fresh pasta and you can see it! I saw someone order the bucatini- and they prepare it in front of you (it looked amazing). Outside of that, the waiters and bar tender were amazing! They were speaking Italian and you can tell how much they cared about the people at the restaurant. I also loved the decor and lighting! Very romantic and comfortable Service: incredible service! Wounded warriors NOT welcomed here! Unbelievably, this restaurant is not wheelchair accessible. I asked the manager why they didn't have access for me and she replied "I don't know". Even portable ramps ($30 on Amazon) would be fine. If you know a wounded warrior or any disabled person, you should not eat here. read more

This wonderful restaurant really out did themselves today. After enjoying the food the first time I went with my friend Fawn, I thought I'd bring my mom here for her birthday today and they certainly did not disappoint. We started with the insalata di Carciofi Avocado and for our mains, we enjoyed Bronzino alla Griglia and lasagna Bolognese. This lasagna was dreamy. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the bolognese sauce was outstanding, and the whole thing just melted in our mouths. My mom loved the lasagna and said it's the best lasagna she's ever had, with the exception of her own! The Branzino was perfectly flaky on the outside and cooked to perfection on the inside and so very tender and seasoned beautifully. It was accompanied by olives and orange slices which perfectly complimented the dish. Mama bear does not eat fish so she did not taste it. Lol. To finish off our wonderful meals, the lovely staff came over singing happy birthday with 2 outstanding mini cannolis, which were on the house and the tiramisu which they made tableside. Absolutely delectable and you can taste each individual ingredient in the tiramisu such as the ladyfingers, mascarpone cream I believe, Espresso and cocoa. All in all a sublime dining experience. I moved from NY to NM. The food scene doesn't compare to say the least. However, when I come back to NY the good Italian hits twice as hard. The focaccia that comes with dinner, so soft and fluffy. The truffle carpaccio bruschetta, delicious (and honestly priced as a deal). Tagliatelle with homemade pasta you can see being made in front of you was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. Then the semifreddo pistachio was an amazing balance of flavor with the lime jelly. On top of it all the service was surprisingly fast and attentive. Such a special and delicious spot where, from the first bite, you know you're in good hands. Their care and attention to every detail, every fresh, homemade ingredient, is incredible. Flavors I've only tasted in Italy, and homemade pasta stretched and cut right in front of you. Loved their gnocchi and their lasagna. The fried squash blossoms were insane! Best I've ever had! 5/5!! wow shame on me for not leaving a review here bc i really thought i did. my bf and i LOVE coming here, and ill go as far as to say its one of the best, most authentic italian meals we've had in the city. only a few blocks down from my apt, piccola is the PERFECT neighborhood spot with a busy but cute interior and kind, attentive service. everything we've had here is soo consistently good. we come here at least every other week bc it is THAT good. we always start with the burrata and prosciutto which is hand sliced i believe, and just absolute perfection. the meat is not salty at all and so deep in flavor. yoooomm.. salivating thinking about it rn!! then we always always always get the LASAGNA. this is 10000000% the best lasagna ive ever had in my entire life. it is SOOO flavorful, cheesy, rich and so soft. the layers of pasta is paper thing and the entire dish requires no chewing - which, i know sounds strange but trust me, omg it's the good kind. it completely melts in your mouth. the closest thing to it would be a LADY M cake but in meat form lol. then we usually get the steak for protein -- it's always perfectly cooked and comes with a a side of truffle mashed potatoes which is absolutely delicious. we sometimes get the calamari as well, which bruv, is absolutely the airy-est, crunchiest, lightest most delicious mix of calamari and zucchini *chefs kiss*!! we've tried the meatballs which weren't my favorite, not bc they were bad but bc we did read the menu right and thought they were grandma's meatballs but they were marsala style and i despise mushrooms. user error! we always say we're gonna get another pasta dish but always end up ordering the lasagna bc it's be sacrilegious to not get it. i have however, separately, tried the paccheriri, cacio y pepe and squash blossoms, which were all delicious as well! of course you get a focaccia on the house with some tomato - caper sauce, which you have to stop yourself from demolishing before your drinks even come out. you really can't go wrong with any of the dishes here!! read more

I stopped by here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I hadn't made a reservation but they were able to find a table for one, despite the restaurant being fairly busy. I started with the bruschetta which was definitely big enough to share between two. The bruschetta was very tasty and had a very generous serving of lovely fresh tomatoes on it. I then moved on and had the boar tagliatelle for my main. This dish was DELICIOUS! The pasta was cooked perfectly and the ragu was so flavorful. I think this is my favourite pasta dish that I have had so far in NYC. Unfortunately I didn't have room for dessert but I did see the tiramisu get made at the table next to me and it looked great (will try and have room for that next time). I also enjoyed two glasses of wine and the total bill, including tax and tip, came to $95 which I thought was reasonable for the quality of the food. I think this is my new favourite restaurant in the city. The restaurant is so welcoming and is a lovely place to enjoy a great meal. The pacing of the service is perfect as well, I was there for about 90 minutes all in and never felt rushed. I will definitely be back (have already suggested visiting here next week to my other half) and highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area. read more

Well? I'm not as impressed with Piccola Cucina Casa as the yelp* community. I stopped in and I waited for a bar stool. The space is very dark, and a bit cramped. I ordered a glass of Nero d'avola to begin, and it wasn't very good. I was in the mood for Pasta, so I ordered Cavatelli with Sausage. The Cavatelli was very undercooked, and the Sausage wasn't very tasty. The Complimentary Focaccia wasn't impressive at all. My bill was reasonable, but all thing considered I have no plans to return. read more

We stopped by a Sunday evening without a reservation, but the staff was very accommodating and got us a table. The pasta is freshly made on site, which gives it a really nice texture and flavor and on top of that the sauces in general have very nice and balanced flavors. Although the main dishes were really good, the best was part were the desserts. We had the tiramisu (which they make right there next to your table) and the cannolis. Woo first to review! Wow it's been a while. Tonight I went to dinner hosted by a friend and I am literally writing this from my Uber while my stomach is distended over my usually loose jeans. I had heard good things about this restaurant's sisters in the city but had never been to any of them. Upon hearing that the "real" Italians approved of this place I was more than excited to try it. The food was so delicious and unassuming, made with obvious care and attention. No pretentious plating just generous portions of great Sicilian fare. We had a strong sampling of everything: arancini, polpo, bruschetta, artichoke, eggplant parm, lasagna, gnocchi with pistachio and tuna, agnolotti! Came for dinner on my birthday and will definitely be back! The restaurant space may be small but it's cozy and the staff create an atmosphere that makes everyone feel comfortable. Not once did I feel crowded despite every table being full. The food came out fairly quickly and was very fresh. Food is tasty, no issues with the food itself. But just an awful dining experience due to some of the worst and most disrespectful treatment I've encountered. To set the scene, we booked a reservation for a very large party about an hour and a half prior to the reservation time on the day of. Clearly, they were not that busy to accommodate this so last minute. Some guests arrived late due to overseas travel and a medical emergency with a very ill family member. Those of us who sat on time (a majority of the party) requested to start ordering ahead but were essentially scoffed at because the party hadn't completely arrived yet. We requested again to order and they eventually obliged, but threatened us that we only have 1.5 hours from the start of the reservation because they need to turn the tables over. At no point did anyone explain to us before or after we sat that they expected a certain protocol from us. They instead chose to ignore us and react poorly when we requested service. Importantly, this place was not at all busy or full. In what world is 1.5 hours ever acceptable for a party of this size? Truly abominable. They threatened us with this time limit simply out of spite, very clearly, because they eventually took it back and said we could stay longer. Next, they forgot to bring an item that we ordered but kept insisting that it was brought. Period. WHAT? We have been sitting here the whole time, the item simply never arrived, and you're insisting to us that we're wrong. NOBODY ATE THIS. That is a truly unbelievable reaction to this scenario by not just one but two servers. No apology, no attempt to ask around to clarify, only insisting that we are in the wrong. Next, each time they brought out entrees, the busser would stand there completely unengaged, no eye contact, states the item name of the dish two or three times until giving up (this place is crammed and loud and the dishes are labeled in italian exclusively) and made no attempt to try to match the dish with whoever ordered it. Basically he threw his hands up in the air as though we were idiots. I did not witness this type of behavior at any other table, where the service was perfectly friendly. I have good reason to believe we were discriminated against and received several microaggressions. This place was an immediate 5 star from start to finish - Our waiter was very kind, welcoming and knowledgeable! Everything we ordered was phenomenal. We started with a salad and bruschetta. I got the lasagna (very cheesy) and I was pleased; my only complaint being that it could have used a lot more sauce.. The ambiance was bustling but not too loud. Overall a wonderful dinner. I came here for my birthday and had a great time. I wanted something simple with quality. The food here was SOOOO good. I was craving steak for a month and went to another place a week prior and didn't satisfy my craving. this steak was so so so good and perfect portion sizes. What a great dining experience! If I can give more stars, I would! I asked recommendations on Fresh seafood and pasta, and my server, Fabian and the team delivered! I had fresh (like ceviche) salmon as an appetizer (large portion) and the seafood Paccheri, and perfect paired wine. I must say, everything was absolutely delicious!
