    Evelina is a cute place a few blocks from Fort Greene Park with a cute outdoor gelato shop during the summer. Our waiter was very nice when taking our order and helping us figure out if we needed the steak but was not seen after. He looked like the only person taking orders. We definitely went big ordering a slew of apps, pastas and the steak to share for a party of four. We did not need both the pinsa Bianca and the prosciutto. I thought all 3 pastas were good with the burrata ravioli being my favorite. The steak was just alright. I found the pieces to be cut too thick making it hard to chew. Happy we went but probably wouldn't go out of our way to come again.

    We were able to snag a last minute reservation during the snow storm for brunch. The endive salad was great and reignited a spark for the veggie. While the eggs benedict was tasty, what was the mushroom cream ravioli. Any of the pastas looked like a good order and I would choose over the traditional brunch options.

    DELISHHH Wowowowow. Incredible pasta honestly. We initially came here for brunch but the pasta was calling our name. I really want to come back again to try everything else + their brunch. You know when you go somewhere and their entire menu just looks so good you cant choose? Thats evelina. I think i gotta back another 5 times so i can try everything I want

    A little disappointed with what my friend and I experienced at Evelina. We can and got a couple drinks a different dishes to share. We order the whipped cheese, bone marrow, the lamp chop and rib and the short rib pasta. The best dish was the whipped cheese as a starter. The bone marrow did not have a ton of flavor and the lamb chop came out over cooked and all fat. The kitchen was nice enough to send out a new dish, but overall I don't think I would come back. The service was not the best as we had to ask someone anytime we needed something.

    Evalina was a cute Italian spot that we went to for dinner. We got the octopus for the appetizer, burrata ravioli with mushrooms in a butter sauce, and duck with roasted carrots and braised figs. Everything was soooo good we had a difficult time ranking what our favorites were. My friend ultimately said the octopus was her favorite bite and mine was the duck. This place had great service and would be perfect for a date night as well!

    we were in bkl for chad goes deep, chad kriegers fantastic one ma show. couldn't get into theodora or miss ada. so tried here. it was generally decent. sat at the bar. apps of ricotta toast why not. tasty. but squash blossoms is just a gimmicky app. skip it. pastas were burrata which just hit like a olain mozz ravioli thinking so what but i got stoked on the squid ink

    Very cute quaint restaurant with an open air kitchen. Server was super nice but it did take a bit to get service as it appeared he was the only wait staff for the entire restaurant on a busy Friday night. My friend and I really liked the fig old fashioned and the portia cocktails. I was less than impressed with my oxtail ragu but I tried some of my friend's squid ink crab pasta and it was absolutely delicious. Overall I'd probably come back here for drinks.

    Didn't have a rez on Sunday at 11-ish but they accommodated us (2 people) immediately. Brunch menu has a good amount of options and everything sounds good but I decided to have pasta for breakfast. The pancakes were also a strong contender. The beef cheek pappardelle was hearty and tasty, definitely a hefty portion and easily shared. My americano was OK-- I'm not a fan of super darkly roasted Italian espresso so I'd stick to a cappuccino next time but I still enjoyed it. The biscotti on the side was a nice touch and paired perfectly with my coffee. My brunch date had two entrees: the short rib dish and the pancakes. Both looked good, the short rib dish was definitely a smaller portion. The pancakes are pretty popular and they smelled divine. Pasta and pancakes didn't feel like a good combo for me so I didn't try them. The ambiance is pretty chill, service is attentive but not over the top. A little on the expensive side but didn't feel too crazy.

    Aesthetic brunch spot with Italian influence. Made a reservation online for three people at 10am on a Saturday a couple weeks in advance. There was a short wait but we got a large table on the patio. The issue with the patio was that the acorns dripping from the tree onto the roof were extremely loud and there was construction on the street, so that messed up the ambiance. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the company and the food, though on the smaller side, was nicely plated. We got the following: Ricotta pancakes - these weren't too sweet and came in three, so it was perfect for our group to split. Short rib - a solid plate that is good for sharing as well; the meat fell off the bone and came with buttery mashed potatoes. Porcini ravioli - the best dish in my opinion - even our waitress prefers this over all the other pastas.

    Solid 4 stars. I'm in love with the oxtail pappardelle. Call me greedy but I always order an extra dish and share with whoever I go with along with an appetizer. Shout out to Brianeats on IG who introduced me to this place.

Their blunt comments maybe embarrassed the hostess because only then did the hostess look at me rather than past me, and ask "how many..." she was ready to tell us there was no availability when I answered that we were a party of four as she looked around the dining room and gestured as if to say 'no seats'. I added that we had a reservation for 10 minutes ago. She asked my name and checked her tablet, then said "ok" and sat us at the table by the door. Once we were seated and situated, my young daughter looked up from her menu and asked me why was everybody else helped before us? She honestly didn't know. For those not familiar with having these types of conversations, let's just say that they can make even the best tasting pasta and pizza unsavory if you dwell on it. It's bad when a 7 year old notices they were "othered". Your mileage may vary, I'm sure there is more than one hostess working. I don't think I would recommend Barbalu to everybody unless you're getting take out, or you don't mind a "fight" to get service, assuming you insisted on eating here.

I will say, the jazz music got a little bit loud at times, so they either need to turn it down a little bit or you can ask to be seated in the back. Seems a bit out of place next to a deli on a residential block. You can kind of miss it if youre not paying attention. We were a party of 6 and had a 5 PM reservation. You have to pass through this dark curtain and go to the middle of the bar where the host will greet you and bring you to your seats. We were seated promptly with no wait. The restaurant is VERY small. So much so that at our table, all I had to do was reach my hand out and I would have been touching the kitchen counter. It does get a little crammed/crowded, but not in an annoying or unbearable kind of way. The vibe is actually really cozy and rustic. Very dim lighting so either whip out the flashlight on your phone or hold up one of the real candles they have on the table to read the menu. The food menu is straightforward and simple. They have an extensive wine list. I love how on the food menu, next to each dish, they tell you the region of Italy that dish gets its roots from. They have lovely dinnerware here. They give you a decent amount for $24.95. That app slid down my throat effortlessly! For my entree I had the Maccheroncini alla Norma. Maccheroni with eggplant in tomato sauce with ricotta cheese. The pasta was so fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauce reminded me so much of my Calabrian grandmother's. The ricotta made it rich and creamy. Filling as well. So much so that, even though it wasn't a huge portion, I had to take home half of it because I was verging on being stuffed! My mother had the Cotoletta alla milanese. Keep in mind that if you get this chicken cutlet dish that it serves about four people, even though its for 1! HUGE portion. About 4 enormous cutlets that gave my mom 3 days of leftovers! All of the desserts were $12.95. A nice selection to choose from, but I had the classic Tiramisu. They make it here tableside. He made it with such care. Loved watching him put it all together. Let me tell you, that was the BEST Tiramisu that I've EVER had! Wow, just amazing. Very balanced, quality ingredients. The marscapone was so decadent, creamy and fresh. Overall I would come back and try even more on their menu.
