Bar basic is anything but basic! It's the perfect local bar with great food! The place isn't that large but it's comfortable and the service is what you would expect from a bar. I think the first time we ate here, we got take out, and I remember the beef pho being not very good. Well we came here and sat down for the first time, finally. I got the tacos and my husband got the beef pho. He said it was really good, way better than the first time we got it where the noodles tasted like they were thrown in last minute and were still hard. The tacos I think were really good and a highlight. I ate all 3 and then felt like s**t after, but it was totally worth it. The meat was tender, melt in your mouth, and there were a lot of juice coming out. This is a popular spot for a lot of people to go to -- it's always crowded and there's always people on the patio with their kids and/or dogs. It's an all around cool place to hang out and get a drink. This is a place I would take visitors to if I still lived in that area. read more

We frequent bar basic pretty often and really enjoy it. They have trivia Wednesday nights and a really impressive happy hour. All of the food has been amazing and the staff is sweet. Nice divey bar with great drinks and bar food. We came in before going out to a local escape room a few blocks away and weren't disappointed with the quality drinks and food. Highly recommend the burgers and the drinks. Service is great turn bar tender was friendly and recommended some great cocktails. The bar seating is limited but there are plenty of small tables and bench seating. Overall it's a great bar with nice atmosphere. Very casual quaint spot with a nice asthetic. There is bar seating and tables (for singles and larger parties up to eight ). The service was slow, and there was a large gap (about 20mins) between getting bar drinks and ordering food. The restaurant was filled however, so the slow service could have been a sign of busyness. The Christmas drink options are original and full of flavor, I recommend the "Quintini". The food is great for sharing. The standouts were the wings with its complimentary sauce. The Mac and cheese would have been even better without the croutons. The "cheese pull" when it first comes out is nice. The chicken sandwich is made of dark meat and was average. Basically the best bar food around the neighborhood. Came with my partner on a Saturday afternoon and was told we can sit wherever - including the back since they have a patio. We sat inside but most of the people who came in after went out back so I'm sure it's also a good option. Bar Basic is a cute cozy well lit bar with good background music. Ordered guava and strawberry margaritas to start and start they did! They were yummy, strong, and came out super fast. For appetizers we shared the tomato Caesar salad and the wings - everything in the salad was fresh and crisp and the croutons are cut up so you don't have huge dry bread bits scraping the top of your mouth, which is really nice. The wings are beautifully marinated and fried to perfection. For entrées, we ordered burgers with the waffle fries and the caramelized onions on the burgers really stood out. The burgers were juicy and not heavily seasoned so it balances well with the onions. The waitresses were all very nice and friendly. I do wish the food was better but it is all right for a quick bite. They do have their own happy hours times which is another plus for the place. If you come here for anything come for the wings. The wings were one of the best I've had in Brooklyn. We ordered wings, fish tacos, the burger, nachos, and fish and chips. The wings were 10/10. The nachos were also really good 9/10. The burger was ok, not great, and the fries need work 7/10. The fish tacos were also ok, not great 6/10. The fish and chips were good, but the fries need work and that's half the dish 7/10. The fries weren't cooked well, tasted stale and unseasoned. Otherwise the fish and chips would've been an 8/10. There were a few things we tried to order and they either "didn't have", were "sold out", or "not available right now". So everything we ordered wasn't our first choice. The service was also not very good here. The food took longer than expected and the waitress was impossible to catch. The overall experience was good but not great. This bar was not that basic once you consider their food was tasty. While enjoying being outside and spaced away from others, I had a fish taco, al pastor taco, nachos and a churro dessert with ice cream. I felt the plates were filling for the price and actually tasted fresh and savory. I also had a mai tai and shots that were part of happy hour until 6pm. They kept me warm outside but I do see myself being cold with no heat lamps or plastic bubble. The staff was friendly and funny. I came here years ago when it was a soft opening of a new Gnarly Eats location down from their main location (I written the soft opening review on the original Gnarly Eats review; it seem to be removed now). We had stumbled by chance and loved it. It was never on Yelp or on Google; so we weren't able to find it but knew it was around the neighborhood of Ramen Danbo & Banhmigos. It had cool artwork of Studio Ghilbi everywhere and awesome burgers. So, on 11/23 we decided to come and look for it as we really enjoyed this location. We yelped Banhmigos, parked and walked around looking. We found Bar Basic in the exact location and it still have some of the original artworks. It looked about the same layout but of course new decors. We were excited to try it anyways as it has burgers on the menu. I guess the soft opening failed and now Bar Basic took over. How can you go wrong with a burger and fries? First, make the burger one step lower than pre-made at the supermarket. Then add a bucket of salt to the fries to make them INEDIBLE. This was a take out order and most of it went right in the garbage. read more

I came here for an alumni event for my alma mater and had a great experience. Michael, the owner, took care of me since I have several severe food allergies and he went above and beyond (more than a lot of other restaurants have done for me) to accommodate me by modifying a few of the dishes so they were safe for me, including the tacos, burgers, and nachos. I was so impressed by the level of service and the staff's willingness to make me feel comfortable/enjoy my time there. The food was also delicious - I loved the tacos and nachos. I will preface this review with the fact that the food here is yummy. I've always been scared of being catfished whilst online dating. So I remain single. But never would I have imagined that I would be one day be catfished by a restaurant...twice. I live around the corner from Bar Basic. I've eaten there a few times. Always happy with the food but underwhelmed by the service and prices. Once the pandemic hit I turned to seamless as so many of us have. At one point tired of the usual stuff I searched for something new. Low and behold this new Butger joint opened up. I ordered the yummy looking although wallet damaging burger and was shocked when it arrived. The receipt was from Bar Basic. I chuckled and tipped my hat to their ingenuity. A quick online rebrand to keep a local business afloat. Good idea. A little misleading, but not super immoral. I would never have ordered from Bar Basic. I had tried their burger before and it wasn't for me. So they got me...and I was ok with it. But today they got me again. I was in a classic single dad bind and looking for a healthy dinner option for my daughter. I see a cool new salad place called Twisted Salads just opened up around the corner. I decided to walk up and check it out. And much to my surprise, it was Bar Basic...again. The salad was yummy, pricey but yummy. In conclusion, I have decided I am not fit for online dating nor am I fit for online eating. Actually, I'm not fit for online. Came here after the Brooklyn Half Marathon on a Sunday with three other friends. The place was quite crowded but we were able to get a spot at the bar. Found this place on yelp when looking for something close to my friends place who I was staying with. I almost passed it on the street, but the vibe inside is hip and cozy. I sat at the bar because I was eating alone. I was greeted and given a happy hour menu. The menu seemed limited but was definitely affordable. I chose the elote, and two tacos, one carnitas and one al pastor. The food came out fast and was so delicious. The elote was a little bland but was cooked great and I still finished it. The tacos tasted fresh and authentic. The al pastor was my favorite definitely. I only had water but there are plenty of beer and wine choices and a full bar. I love the decor inside and it can be a dark, intimate place for a date or a girls night out. The food was very yummy. I got the brisket burger and fries and it was delicious. It is definitely not a barbecue joint but the brisket was very decent! The drinks looked delicious and they had great choices for cocktails.
